So happy to have Guitar Center in the Tri-Cities! I shop typically at locally owned music stores but having a Guitar Center here locally is a god send as they have longer hours of operation, different selection from the locals and a wider variety of gear. Not to mention they are open on Sundays! Clean store, friendly staff! Highly recommend!

They did a great job on the set up on my bass. My only gripe is they didn’t initially tell me there were two types of set ups and defaulted to giving me the more expensive option. Granted, that is what I wanted but I feel like I’ve been tricked. I feel bad for new guitar players who ask for set ups and pay $30 more than they had to. At least tell them what their options are. I don’t feel comfortable going back to this location because I don’t want my ignorance to get taken advantage of again.

This was my first time In my live I have been in a Guitar Center, I drove over an hour to get there on a Sunday because I was needing a set of guitar strings, some picks and a headphone adapter for a friend. After having trouble getting there and telling them I just drove over an hour to get here when I walked in 10 mins before closing a guy walked up to me and ask if he could help me with anything and I told him what I needed and he then pointed out the strings and picks which I had already located an was heading to but after looking around being rushed I could not find the headphone adapter and the website said they had it in stock so finally after asking a man come to 1 place and looks and says I dont see one we must not have it... My friend went the very next day and got one and said they had a total for 3 in stock and was not in the same place I told him we looked in . Just seems like I would have been taken better care of....

Amazing place. Bought a Ukulele there recently and had some great help along the way. However, not to sure on the instrument quality. The Ukulele wont stay tuned for the life of it, especially when Im playing

Guitar Center in Johnson City is the best place to do all your music shopping. The staff make sure your questions are answered and your needs are met. Top of the line instruments and good variety to choose from.

The staff here is absolutely wonderful. Instruments are pretty much the same as every GC, but the friendliness and knowledge this staff has is what sets this location apart! They’re always willing to answer my questions and help me find what I need. Thank you guys so much!!

Good selection, convenient location, helpful staff, clean facility, and an all-around great experience for my daughter to visit and try some gear. Trevor & Blake are especially helpful and deserve to be recognized. We will continue to shop here whenever were in town and will make the occasional special trip to do so. Kudos for providing great service while also taking precautions to prevent the spread of the virus.

They have some nice guitars and amps the people that work there act like they could care less of you buy from them they dont ask if you bees help or anything if you need help you have to go get it and they act like your bothering them to get help

Not allowed to shop without a mask even with health issues that prevent its use. Two employees now wont get any commissions on the thousands of dollars I spend in this store because of their attitude about the mask.Otherwise, this store had some good merch even though some prices were cheaper online. I will be buying some big purchases here as I try out equipment.Unless Im harassed about the mask again that is, then Ill just test the pieces there and give someone online my money instead.

Bought a Les Paul and got a special employee discount from a salesmen, so I liked the store for that, but knowledge of instruments is low and their guitar repair tech barely knows how to string a guitar. I asked him for some humbucker pickup mounting rings for a Charvel (strat style guitar) and he tried to sell me some for a Gibson Les Paul. He honestly tired to tell me they dont make rings for a strat style guitar with humbuckers. Beware if you let this guy work on your guitar.

These guys work on my craft tools and help develop my technical lessons. Cant say enough about the staff and Teachers...

The staff is friendly and the store well maintained. Compared to morels or other music stores theres selection is phenomenal. More than once Ive come across extensively useful products for guitar and other instruments that I did not even know existed until walking in. An example of the major problem with guitar center is that you can get two TRS adaptors for 6 dollars at other music stores while one adaptor at guitar center is fifteen. They have good prices on guitars and amps and things of a larger value but it seems that items in gear that should be cheap are marked up. Its hard to believe that they can sell 10 dollar peg winders when you can get them for 1.50 at other music retailers.

A little busy, but not crowded. Super friendly and helpful staff. Some items are a little low on stock, but they still have a very wide variety of items at various price levels for almost every budget. They offer music lessons as well.

Staff was quick to offer assistance and provide advice, the prices are aligned with the discount music supply sites I typically order from. Very glad we have a Guitar Center in JC now!

Overall not a bad shopping experience here looking for a new bass guitar. The only gripe I have with them is their employees constantly trying to sell you their extended warranty on the merchandise all the time. One of the employees named Kraig was super knowledgeable and a pleasure to talk to about the instruments. You can tell he truly loves music and his job!

They are miracle people.Had taken my guitar 4 different places to have the bridge replaced and fixed and this was the only place that could do it- and they stand behind their work so if it still has issues then you can take it back!Love the people and atmosphere!

My husband spent at least an hour talking to the guys about music stuff without anyone kicking him out; lol. There was plenty of merchandise to keep me busy too. It was very roomy & all the employees were very nice. Great place.

I have had very pleasant experiences in the past with several of the employees at this location, but have lost all desire to do business with this guitar center. Me, my wife, and my brother were looking at some Taylor guitars to buy for my wife. We were by ourself away from everyone in the acoustic room. We entered the store wearing a mask as required and removed them for more comfort while we were trying to find the right guitar. A guy came in and helped us get a guitar no problem and left. Another guy (acted like the manager) came in and was messing with some guitars and gestures to his nose to my wife not saying anything. He leaves the room. Comes back in and leaves once more. Then comes back in and states “it’s time to call it a night”. Confused we ask if they are about to close. Then he states “I’ve told you several times to put your mask on” (not at all true) and then proceeds to kick us out of his store. We are very dissatisfied with this childish management style. We are more than happy to comply, but are not willing to be treated this way. As to all the money we have spent at guitar center over the years, we are not doing any business with this store anymore. As to the guy that kicked us out, try a different customer service approach next time to the customers that have given you so much business over the years.

Excellent staff, June was very knowledgeable about ğuitars. He answered every question we had, plus gave us very good info. we didnt know. We purchased a sweet LTD with a 3 year warranty that my husband will freak over at Christmas.

Went to buy microphone cables the ones I wanted to buy were not on the stock display all they had was the most expensive ones when I inquired about it the man said well these are lifetime guarantee and I said I wasnt wanting to pay that much he goes let me go look in the back for the $20 ones he came back with $15 ones which was fine but thats kind of shady dont you think

More than fair prices even beats the competition on new and used equipment

Purchased a used amp for a Christmas gift. The sales person was very knowledgeable and helpful. I ended up returning the amp because my husband didnt like the sound of it as much as he did the amp it was meant to replace. The return was fast and easy and the person doing the return was nice.

If you are into instruments, this is a great place for your creativity.

The bald guy in the drum department is a wealth of percussion knowledge and a drum history expert. He is engaging and polite while explaining all facets of the product he’s selling. It’s obvious that he is a person of impeccable hygiene too. It’s worth going there just to see him. I love him.

Every time Ive been to this store the staff has been very nice but completely clueless about their items in their store. On todays visit I asked about a child sized guitar for my grandson. The employee clearly didnt know what they had and really didnt seem like he wanted to take the time to help us find out if it was even in the store. We eventually found one ourselves and then left without buying it. Two stars for not being rude. Thats about the best I can do.

This guitar center rocks because they stay open till 10:00 they also are strictly adhering to covid-19 precautions and the staff is very knowledgeable especially Steven at our Johnson City location hes always quick to jump and help me as far as the guitar purchased do yourself a favor and go see the future of acoustic guitar without a an and try the trans acoustic Yamaha. And Im sorry but Martin is now a thing of the past for me or because I let someone hold this one. yamahas where its at.

My daughter couldnt wait to get there to buy a new bass guitar. Everyone was awesome, helpful and nice.

The first guitar I bought and got it home to play. It was bad. Strings vibrated on the frets like a childs guitar. No worries... Guitar center said bring it back and we will replace it.. they did.. no arguments, nothing.. so I bought a higher price one and an boss amp. They discounted it all and threw in another big discount for me. Good place.. except the mask wearing thing.. didnt like that one bit.

Beware of the charges on your credit card every month if you are taking lessons.

As a musician it is very important to get good advice from the pros.... Here, they have a modest array of keyboards and little to no assistance with products that they do have.I partially blame Covid 19 but there was more attention to keeping only ten in the store at a time than there was helping clients buy the right products.I will go again as everyone deserves a second opportunity, but they need better and WORKING examples of keyboards... Let alone other instruments.

The people are great! Very helpful. I ordered a guitar online. Got it out of the box. Played with it a little. Went to pick it back up and theres a big crack in the neck! First thing next day I took it to the store and they helped make it right for me, even though the 45 day guarantee is only for in store purchase and they had no responsibility to fix me up. Thanks a million guys!

I found what I needed! They sell single guitar strings. I am hard on the g strings! They sell some singles in packs of 5! Cool!

Courteous staff. The selection is slim because of the shops in China are down due to Corona. Mostly, Les Pauls and Strays styles.

I will tell you now masks are REQUIRED at all times to shop here. This is a corporate policy and the employees are not willing to lose their jobs over you. There is a county wide mandate in effect and there are signs on the door, as well as masks offered inside. If you feel it is your right not to wear one or think the employees are part of the problem then you have the right not to shop here. The employees I have encountered are very helpful and knowledgeable. The selection at the moment is slim but they are working well with what they have.

It’s a good place to get cheaper made instruments or equipment but don’t try for anything super expensive because the prices are jacked up. If looking for more expensive go online. People there are very kind. Make sure to ask for help and suggestions!

Found an instrument I loved and was prepared to buy it. But they had it labeled wrong and would not honor the price that they had labeled. Also the workers are not friendly at all. Would recommend going to Campbell’s Morrell Music they do you right every time you go in.

Real cool, good customer service and is a fun store

Love the place. Traded gear there for in-store credit. Fair trades. Every time I go in and play someones usually there to greet me and have conversation. Had repairs done and were done correctly.

Guy with the American flag mask is a god

This is a relatively small guitar center, a bit larger than Asheville but not as large as knoxville. The selection of guitar pedals is good but not great. nice selection of acoustic guitars. I was surprised at how good the selection of solid body electrics was. This ranged from Les Pauls at 3300 and topline PRS guitars through domestic strats, a good range of Ibanez and also a good selection of starter guitars. For hollow body electrics though they had one premiere dAngelico, one Epiphone Sheridan 2, and then about 10 gretch mostly in the under $1,000 range. I didnt look much at the keyboards this time.
