Today I took my 16 year old daughter’s 2010 Kia Forte to be service due to a safety recall. We were informed of the recall when we purchased the car just two weeks ago. As to try to make sure that the car was safe for my daughter to be driving I scheduled it to be serviced quickly. When we took her car and dropped it off she was driving alone in her vehicle with me following in mine. We got the notification that it was ready for pick up and went to get it. We went straight from picking it up to get something to eat. When we came out of the restaurant I noticed something didn’t look right about her car. Mind you it was pouring rain at this time too. I stopped her from leaving so I could check her hood because it didn’t appear to be latched down. Sure enough whoever worked on it had not shut to hood all of the way. We live 30 minutes from the dealership. Had we went straight home on the interstate my daughter my have had her hood fly up while driving and her a fairly new driver. I understand that mistakes happen but this was a mistake that could’ve cost someone their life! Not a happy customer at all! I will not be taking any vehicle back to this location.

Doyle Rutherford and Steven Grindstaff absolutely went the distance with my last car purchase, worked to get the deal I wanted on a 2021 K5 Gt line. Gave top dollar for my trade, being upside down did not matter. Had the car clean and ready when we arrived to do the paperwork, finance manager Steve Pierce was johnny on the spot with the paperwork, he made sure I knew all about the warranty and what I need to do in the event of a claim, and he also made sure we understood all details. What a team these guys make, we were in and out in less than 2 hours, Doyle made sure to go over all features and set up my android auto. If you think a deal cant be done you need to go see these guys, if it can be done they will do it. Thanks again guys!!!

I am out of town for work when my Kia Optima went into low power mode. It was late so I had it towed to the local mechanic. They told me it was a code p1326 and I had to take it to kia. I called this Kia service department. They told me since the first mechanic cleared the codes there wasnt much they could do, but they would drive it around and see if they could get it to come up. For work I keep track of my mileage. When I called for an update I was TOLD that they had driven it around and it didnt come back up, but they would try again. When I came to pick it up, the mileage was the exact same number as when it was dropped off. Not ONE mile more. If they told me they couldnt do anything or didnt LIE to me I would be fine with the first mechanic screwing their chances of finding the problem. At least the first mechanic drove it for three miles before giving it back to me. Not happy at all!!!

He was so kind and not like the usual car salesman, he didn’t push me for more expensive things or talk down to me because I am a woman. Bought a Vehicle from here over 3 months ago and still do not have tags for it, 4 different excuses later.....still nothing, atleast if youre gonna make something up you should all have the same story, on top of this issue, car needed over 2k in repairs, Stephen Grindstaff himself said he would take care of that for us.......over a month has passed since then and nothing, when you carry the last name of the place you manage and cant be honest, thats a pretty bad sign, this dealership has been nothing but trouble, nothing but excuses, nothing but lies and I still dont have tags or the money back promised, oh and if you want a call back, dont expect that to happen either, I myself will now seek legal advice and contacting the attorney General and states dmv, be smart dont be like me, STAY FAR FAR FAR AWAY FROM HERE!!!! There are way to many dealerships surrounding them that most definitely will try harder then this, its a shame, I gave them over three months and they just havent even made an attempt to make things right!!Update!!!!! So they finally got my vehicle licensed and registered and they sent my license plate and registration to the wrong address!!!!! Now I get to go take care of this at the clerks office, ill keep updating this circus of an experience as it goes. Stay far away from this dealership and the whole automotive group!!!

Usually great service, but after four years today is the first time that I felt ripped-off when I was billed $45 labor to replace two $3.75 bulbs. Although I asked for a tire rotation one was not performed. The service managers always friendly, but will likely not return.

It was so simple to purchase. What was even better, Bryan contacted me a few days later to let me know, Steve in finance, found an even better deal that would save me money on my payments. The customer service is excellent and it was a pleasurable experience. Bryan and Steve took the stress out of purchasing a vehicle and made our whole experience superb. Purchased a 2012 Chevrolet 2500 HD with the Duramax Diesel. It was supposed to be a pre owned certified ( In House) not by a Chevrolet or GMC inspector. On the day of purchase went to have the front end alignment and couldnt align due to bad pitman arm. So after that I decided to check things I thought should be checked and corrected by the in house certified pre own inspector. It was low 5 gallons of DEF fluid, 1/2 gallon washer fluid,1/2 pint of power steering fluid. So the dealership was kind enough to take care of the pitman arm. Part was ordered and as of this letter been sitting on my salesman desk. Said would have to check with Steven Grindstaff to see when it can be fixed and replaced. Still no contact as of this review that is for the 2 star rating. Spent more money for being pre own certified and routine checks were missed.since my last review post I give a 5 star rating. I believe there was a little miss communication between personnel. I was very pleased overall with the service and professional service that Steven and his staff have given me during the sale and especially the professionalism after the sale. Thanks a million again!

Edited this… 4 cars we purchased in 2 weeks from here! these guys are so good. Steve was awesome along with both salesman and finance guys and detailers, and their service department is the best by far. We had purchased a Kia van elsewhere and had problems with it twice that the other dealership could not find, we brought it to Grindstaff and within 30 minutes the problem was found and fixed. It had been something done wrong when the other dealership fixed a issue. Needless to say at that visit we found and purchased another new car and with test drive and paper signing and everything we were in and out within 90 minutes. They went over the top to get our family in new vehicles.The best car buying experience by far.

This dealership is completely professional, they keep you updated on work being done. They offer snacks and a comfortable waiting room. My work that they did needed a recall and they told me they were going to get it done. A recall that I wasnt aware of. I am definitely going back there when I need work done on my car and have no qualms about recommending them. I called a friend who works there and she helped me find a place to go and helped let them know I was coming. My car needed to be towed to the dealership and they took care of me right away.

I had bought my Kia elsewhere before moving to Johnson City. My only experience is with the service staff. Carl and Eddie are fabulous. I have been bringing my Sorento to them for over 5 years. I purchased a new 2020 kia which I love the problem is they never told me until after a signed paperwork that it had been driven for 3500 miles, I didnt check it because it was in the show room and i assumed for that reason it would be brand new and i assumed my salesperson understood that I only wanted brand NEW car only . They did give me 2000.00 off but they lead me to believe that was just because it was a 20, they gave me a free oil change at 5000 miles which was really only 1500 miles since it already had 3500 on it ..Im not sure if I will ever purchase another vehicle from them or purchase another KIA as I am angry every day that I drive my USED but new KIA .

My daughter and I are committed to buying another Kia just for the service department. They have gone above and beyond every time we reach out to them for assistance. Carl even found a difficult to diagnose problem by continuing to try different things when many other technicians couldn’t figure out what was wrong but were more than willing to charge you for the “non-knowledge”. Everyone is so customer oriented and friendly but most important - honest. We refuse to take my daughter’s car anywhere else and I wish I lived closer so I could bring my car there also. Can’t rave about them enough!

This review is a little late, but I wanted to share an experience that my friend had with Grindstaff Kia. About six months ago my friends motor on her Kia kept locking up on her. She contacted Kia Care, because her car was still under warranty, and requested that they tow it to Grindstaff Kia, since she had just had a recall fixed there about a month before. Kia Care insisted that they tow her car to Rusty Wallace Kia in Morristown because it was closer. Lets just say Rusty Wallace was very dishonest and tried to take advantage of my friend. They tried to tell my friend that in order for her car to be repaired it would cost her $5000 and that her car would not be covered under warranty. Not having that kind of money to spend, my friend contacted Grindstaff and they offered to pay to tow my friends car to their dealership and take a second look. Once they got the car to their dealership, they determined that my friends car WAS still under warranty and could be repaired at no cost to her. They were even able to get her into a rental car at no charge until her car was repaired. Thank you Grindstaff Kia for taking such good care of my friend.

I was recently on a trip to North Carolina and traveling back thru Tennessee to Ohio on a Sunday morning. At the top of a mountain our Kia Sorento had engine trouble. We had it towed to Grindstaff Kia which was the closest Kia dealership. When we got it there the dealership was closed. The tow truck driver dropped our car off at their front gate on the sidewalk. I dropped the keys off in the key drop box with a quick explanation of what had happened and what I thought was wrong with it and then took off for the rest of the trip back home to Ohio. I contacted the service center on Monday morning and had the pleasure of talking to Karl. He reassured me that they would take care of me quickly. He responded in just a couple of hours and told me that the engine would have to be replaced. It was already ordered and would be in by Wednesday morning. True to his word he called on Wednesday afternoon and said that the job was finished and could pick the vehicle up at my earliest convenience. We made the 5 1/2 hour trip to pick it up and met Karl and some of the other staff. I was very impressed with how friendly and courteous they ALL were. If I were to ever need service again and I was in their area, I would without a doubt choose them first!

Went there to have it looked at for a warranty issue. They said it wast and gave me an estimate. I asked the service manager to call my extended warranty company as they needed more info to approve the $1500 estimate - he never did - I called and he said the info was sitting on his desk - a week and two weeks later - he still never called to get approval.I went to another repair shop, they got the approval on the phone the same day, scheduled it a few days later and found that the Kia repair dealership didnt include the other parts that needed to be repairs and that would cost another $1500. Since the warranty was covered on the first part I only paid $100 deductible but the second part which Kia totally ignored as the orginal reason I had the problem is not covered so Ill go back to the repair shop that gave me service NEVER go to Grindstaff KIA - they dont have time to repair your car, they just wanted to sell me another car - as they planted a sales guy in the service wait run. Sad.

Stay away from KIA people. Bought my 2011 Sorento new and had nothing but trouble. First the wiring harness went out and it took over a month to replace. Then the transmission went out around 90000 and it was a chore getting them to replace before the warranty was out. Then w/in a year it went out again. Now at 120,000 miles the engine dies and KIA will do nothing to help. Motor stopped in 65 mile an hour traffic, my husband could have been killed. I will never buy KIA again cars are poori quality! Feel bad for Eddie and Carl in service, they are nice, but have very poor product to work with!Answer dealer - Renee Grindstaff Mullins Both, as the dealer who took my hard earned money, your dealership should take care of its loyal customers, but all I’m told is a Motor will cost me 5500 plus tax and “we checked with KIA and they are doing nothing to help you, sorry” Talked with KIA and they had not received anything from you originally. The car is not worth putting 5500 in and I cannot afford to pay that. A motor from a car that originally cost $30000 should not die at 120,000 miles and be on its 3rd transmission. I am not the only one with the motor problems I have seen many complaints online about them. Something should be done like a recall. You sell poor products and don’t stand behind them.
