Extrememly satisfied! They were very professional, informational, respectful and trustworthy. There was a light on the dash they not only fixed that but the service dept also noticed something leaking. Turned out to be the racket pinion in the steering wheel column in which they fixed, at their expense. It was not only an expensive part but the labor required was extensive as well.Good people!!

It was a great experience. Kevin is awesome! The shuttle offering was amazing so I didnt have to sit in the dealership the entire time. The only reason they are getting a four star instead of five is because there was a vehicle ahead of mine that caused my start/end time for my appointment up not be what was quoted. Absolutely garbage service department. They keep your car, give you dates. Then lie about why they have it for over 2 weeks for a common part replacement. You have to go into the dealer to get any answers because God for bid if any of the 4 service advisor pick up the phone. Then they forget to tighten bolts and my lower shield about falls off down the interstate. Like I said dont bother calling, even leaving a voicemail they play stupid.Edit...General manager posted a reply asking to get in touch. I emailed him. Still no response but noticed he removed his reply to this post..... interesting

This dealership is a complete joke. Dont even waste your time if you are from out of the area. I worked a complete deal, went to pick the vehicle up and they added $1900 to the price of the car! When I asked about it, the manager (Soloman) said its the price you agreed to which was absolutely not the case. They were not willing to come clean on the deal and insisted I was a liar, like I drove over 2 hrs to sabotage the deal by lying! The very unprofessional salesman Sam, was absolutely the worst I have dealt with. He did not communicate well at all. He and I set a time to pick the car up and he wouldnt even show up. I never even met him, after working with him for a week. If your looking to get bent over, I encourage you visit this dealer. If you are looking for an honest dealership who cares about building a relationship with the customers look elsewhere.

Got a good deal on a used vehicle, however the engine bay and under the engine cover looks like it was never looked at or detailed. I dont even think they opened the hood prior to putting it on the lot. $20k car with 45k miles, I would be embarrassed if I let this car leave the lot like this.

Absolutely ridiculous, called about a pickup, and kept in contact with salesman, he knew the day and time we were coming, 4.5 hour drive one way for me...when we got there the pickup was completely dead, started dealing on it, ended up agreeing on a price then all of the sudden it was that plus another 2 grand for their hidden perma plan never once said a thing about it the multiple times we talked on the phone, or while making the deal... Then was told the blend door for heater would be fixed, never was, and when we arrived home check engine light was on, needless to say after 7 grand in repairs, removibg entire dash and steering column to replace blend doors, new plugs, coil packs, pulling engine, head gaskets, and rebuilt heads and multiple other things its able to drive again. Not what I expected out of a $40k pickup. Dealership is an absolute joke and crooked as a blind drunk guy. Pretty sure someone cleared check engine lights before it was put on lot. Scan tool shows it.

Sam Dawson was our sales guy and he was awesome to work with. He was extremely patient with us as we searched for the right model & color that fit our needs. Once we were ready to make a purchase, Sam worked quickly to make sure it was a smooth and painless process. He even noticed the alignment was a tad off on one of the back doors (something I wouldnt have even caught) and he had it taken to the shop and corrected for us with no issue at all.

Lithias customer service is the worst I have ever encountered. With their high prices for repairs, its shocking they are still in business.I brought my Volkswagen in. I told them the breaks needed looked at. It took 24 hours to get a call back with what was wrong with the vehicle, which isnt terrible, but the quote surprised me. $1,850 for all new brake pads, rotors and 2 rods for the parking brake. People... I found this same repair at two other shops for under $800. After hearing Lithias $1,850 quote, I told them I needed a second opinion.When I came in for the vehicle I was surprised to see they expected me to pay for the diagnostic. It cost $62.50 just to find out what was wrong with the car. I explained I had never paid for a diagnostic before but the rep was apathetic and cold. He didnt seem to care... tough luck was the vibe. On top of that, the photos attached show how I found my car when I drove it off the lot.We ended up paying $754 at Earls Tire for the same repair. They were kind and deserve your business more than this racket in Johnston.

Unfortunately, weve had one unfortunate and horrible experience after another with the service department. Following a routine appointment for an oil change/service, we were told one of our front wheels was out of alignment, to which we agreed to have our wheels serviced for an additional cost (approximately $100 dollars). Following our service, we returned home and the next morning discovered our car was leaking oil. We returned to Lithia a couple of days later to have the service department check for the oil leak, only to be told that our OTHER front wheel was now out of alignment (what?!) and that they had intended to charge another $100 to fix that alignment (we said no). After waiting 90 minutes, we got our car back and returned home only to discover our car was STILL leaking oil - but now at an even greater amount. We took our vehicle to another dealership and they discovered that a bolt and washer that was connected to the cars oil drain/plug had been screwed on so tight that it completely stripped and damaged the bolt/washer and - surprise! - our cars wheel was not out of alignment.We will never purchase a car or receive service from this dealer again.

Over the last couple years, I’ve had several issues. Customer service here is so poor and inefficient. Even if you rightfully complain, management doesn’t care.My first issue came when I took my wife’s car for an oil change and they were very inconvenienced by me walking in on an ordinary weekday to drop it off for one. The next day the coolant light came on so I called to ask if it may be topped off. They said they’d need to do a $100 diagnostics so I said no thank you and paid $30 for gallon of coolant and filled up the 9oz of it I needed.More recently, I came in on a Saturday to get an oil change done. I would’ve been willing to leave it all day if necessary, however, I was told they don’t do walk-ins on Saturdays as they are half staffed. I wish the website would say that. He scheduled me for an appointment next Saturday. It’s strange when their website said I couldn’t get an appointment until a month later. I even called and left a voicemail during business hours to try and set one up earlier in the week and nobody called back.All I can really say is step up and have more accountability as a business. Also if anybody needs any VW coolant, I’ve got a gallon minus like 9oz.

I’ve purchased new cars from Lithia since 2009 with my first Tiguan, then a Golf in 2015. They are always great with trade-ins and I feel like I got a fair price both on the trade-in and on my new 2020 Tiguan. My sales rep was Justine and she was very personable and attentive, she even called me the next day after the purchase to ask if I had any questions and was able to answer the questions I did have. Love my VW!

Thank you. I was driving a used beetle from Tucson to Minneapolis. I drove over something in DSM and heard a rattle. I was able to get another place to fix the rattle, BUT he also said to drive to Lithia to have it checked.When I got there, they were full. But I talked to a service manager and another manager. They pulled a mechanic out and listened to my car with a scope to make sure there was no engine damage.Just so you know-Friday. 1 pm. Hotter than Dantes inferno 2nd layer.They could not see or hear anything wrong or suspect anything wrong with the engine, drive, wheels etc.They were very nice and helpful and really could have turned me away under the circumstances. Thank you again for your help. I am home. No issues with the car.

Do NOT buy a 2012 Volkswagen Jetta. My husband purchased through here and It has been problem after problem and now of course the warranty is up and guess what? You guessed it, another problem. Only this time? 3,000 dollars worth! The worst part about it is, they fixed this EXACT problem not even 3 years ago. It was a recall. So, we are paying for a failed recall problem. This is just one platform to get the word out and we will be doing all we can to make sure others are aware and do not purchase without doing their research.

We have been having a very bad experience lithia volkswagen since we started to visit the dealership . Our car is never done on time and they always charge us for things that we did not asked about and any time we take our volkswagen touareg for oil change we have to wait for 3 hours even tho we already make an appointment. They charge us for things that are not in our work order for example we lost our car key and we order the key Tru them and they asked us to tow the car to the dealership before the car🚗 get there we call to let them know and asked where did they want us to pu the car and they told us at the back so we did, after they program the key🔑 they want to charge us for towing the car from their parking lot to the building or inside of the building which was not right because they told us to put it at the back we dont have to pay for taking it in the shop.

We purchased the vehicle on 6.8.21 and as of 7.7.21 we have not received the title for the car-the salesman informed us when we picked up the car on 6.16 it would submitted the next day.We had our mechanic check the vehicle before agreeing to purchase. The sale person was given a copy of the report, we reviewed it at his desk and he agreed that all the areas our mechanic had indicated needed to be fixed WOULD be fixed before we picked the car up along with the documentation it was done. Only 50% of this was done. Not all areas of work were completed and there was no documentation (were verbally told) given to us of the work that was completed.In hindsight I should not have trusted the word of a salesman and his manager, instead should have required everything that was verbally agreed to be put into writing (I will own this one).My interaction with Litha regarding this transaction has reinforced the long-held image...a used car salesman is not to be trusted.Now I need to see if I can find the title to the car I purchased over 1 month ago.

If you are expecting good customer service after buying your car… don’t. Received great service when buying car, but ever since then has been a massive headache. I bought a certified pre-owned, which means they have to fix anything wrong with it for 2 years. Service advisor seems to have no knowledge on service provided. Forget about them calling you back when they say they will, as I am left without any answers on many of my questions. They gave me a loaner with an expired dealer license, and when he told me to swing by later, the ENTIRE dealership ignored me completely. Even saw the sales manager come out of his fancy office to help a pair of people that came after me. ALL I NEEDED WAS AN UPDATED TAG SO I DIDNT GET PULLED OVER. waited for 26 minutes before interrupting a salesman’s sale and finally got what I needed.

I ordered floor mats & was advised I’d be contacted when they arrive, no one called & the mats sat there for 4 days until I finally called them to get a status update.Then I set an appointment for oil change, alignment & ordered a part (the parts guy came out to my car so he can see which exact part I needed) they told me come in at 8am, on the day of i arrive at 8 & no one is there & they don’t open till 9am (this was a Saturday) & no order was put in for my part. If you are going to buy from here, which I strongly recommend you dont, the first thing you need to know is that you will automatically be charged a $1300 accessories fee whether you want it or not. The staff are also inexperienced and arrogant. We had the displeasure of working with Alex, who was very young, had limited interpersonal skills, and did not like being challenged. We almost walked out multiple times. After the purchase, we had several issues with the car and even attempted multiple times to contact the GM, who obviously doesnt care about customers as he never responded. Do yourself a favor and take your money somewhere else.

Be highly wary of the way management chooses to price some vehicles. I fell in love with a Passat (Wolfsburg Edition) and the price they posted. After my test drive and hoping to make an offer, my sales rep comes back with “Bad news, for you it’s $4k more because the price included all the offers you don’t qualify for.” Hmm, bait & switch much? Offered Mgmt a fair offer to make it right. Nope. Next they’ll piss down my leg and tell me it’s raining. Beware.

All around unpleasant experience at Lithia VW. I called in advance to have my vehicle appraised for trade in value and also ask questions/test drive a used 2020 VW Jetta R Line. I spoke with Majid Garibovic on the phone, and he also assisted me when I arrived. He took my general information and asked what my goal was that day, I told him “To see what I could receive for trade in value of my previous vehicle, and also test drive and learn more about the car we had spoken about on the phone (2020 VW Jetta R line).” After this he took the information for my car and stated that he would have to check to see if the car I was interested in was at their dealership or at the Audi dealership (remind you I called in advance and set up and appointment). After taking my cars information and checking the status of the vehicle, he informed me that someone else was currently test driving the vehicle I had inquired about. He then asked if I would be interested in financing through the dealership (I previously informed him that I was approved for a larger amount than the vehicle was worth through a separate credit union, but he insisted he could get a better rate), and asked that if everything worked out to a good price if I would be interested in purchasing the vehicle that day, which I responded “Yes, but I would be interested in seeing the vehicle first and learning more.” He then had to get up and return to my vehicle as he had to “take additional pictures of the odometer because his picture hadn’t been good enough.” He then provided my credit information to his manager to check to see if I would be approved (even though I already had been prior to arriving to the dealership), Majid proceeded to then go outside and stand with a man and discuss a vehicle, I was left at his desk for 10 minutes; at this point I have been at the dealership for an hour, have not been offered a water, and have also not gotten the value for my trade in or answered any questions about the vehicle i inquired about. I was upset and asked them both (Majid and his manager) what was going on and why I was waiting, they said they were running my credit to see if I was approved. Knowing I was upset, Major returned to his desk with me and finally asked if I wanted something to drink, I said no at this point and requested my keys for my own vehicle as this was not the experience I expected. I was then informed I was approved for the vehicle at a higher rate via the dealership than what I came in being approved for!!! I then became more upset and stated that I wasn’t interested, they apologized to me and said that the vehicle I had scheduled the appointment for would be finished being test driven in about an hour, so I could wait an additional hour at the dealership or set up and appointment for the next day. Clearly, there’s no reason to set up an additional appointment if they didn’t fulfill any request on the first one. I would recommend going to different dealerships in The Des Moines area or work with someone at this location that has more experience in sales. If you are a fan of VW like myself, I would recommend looking elsewhere.

Had a scheduled service appointment for an oil change made well in advanced. Showed up on time and waited over 1.5 hours. When I approached the service specialist at the desk he was on his phone and looking at social media. when asked about the status he didnt know and went to go talk with the service team. he came back and said it would be another hour. Not sure what the point of scheduling an appointment is if the oil change is going to take 2.5 hours. I could drive to the Ames Lithia and be done in 1. I would never recommend someone to get service done at a place that operates this inefficiently and unprofessionally.

I will never buy another vehicle from a Lithia dealership ever again because of this location. Im purposely paying my vehicle off faster so I can have more equity to trade it in at a different dealership just so I dont have to go here anymore.Driving test was terrible, salesmen wouldnt let me take in on the freeway, basically a straight line up and back. Buying experience was awful and salesman wouldnt budge on price (it was on the high side or bluebook) even though the vehicle (a CPO) had damage and needed new tires. The check sheet they give you to show everything was inspected wasnt even filled out. (This is when I should have walked out but, had no vehicle to leave in as mine was totaled hence the new car) Then when I submitted my poor review/survey the salesman called me on my personal cell, while I was at work and berated me for giving him a poor review.Anytime I try to set an appointment for service no one answers the phone and I have to wait 2+ days for a callback or call in through the day to try and catch someone. When an appointment is finally made it takes far longer than it should... Oil changes should not take 2 hours.Avoid this place at all cost and take your money elsewhere, before you get trapped with this place being the only one around that can service your vehicle under warranty.Update after newest visit:Oil change only took 1.25 this time so some improvement. I was told the only mechanic recommendation was that I should have my brake fluid flushed on my next visit. I ask the Rep. I was talking to, Why was that recommended? I just paid $2000 for the 50k mile maintenance that included a brake flush only 7000 miles ago. The Rep then checked and confirmed that service records show that the flush was completed then. So again I asked, Why was this recommended then? Was this not actually completed on my last visit? The Rep said he doesnt know and would get to the bottom of it and talk to the mechanic. This did not happen before I left, so I guess it will remain a mystery until I take it into a mechanic for my next oil change because it wont be here.When I got out to my car the windshield and roof had plenty of water marks and the driver side window was covered in water streaks. This might seem petty but, I had just had the car detail before bringing it in for a oil change. So when they rolled down the window it left water on the window and apparently they couldnt be bothered to find a rag to wipe off the water. The windshield and roof mostly likely caused from testing the wiper fluid pump and nozzles and again couldnt find a rag to wipe up the wiper-fluid off the car. Not to worry though... I got a coupon for a free car-wash. Thanks.

Please be aware that they will tack on an additional 2,000 on top of any vehicle price. 1,000 for “surface protection” and another 1,000 for “guaranteed asset protection”. Should have walked away, very shady. They then argued with me for a week about fixing the screen module as it was very glitchy. Finally got resolution one this, but should not have had to push so hard for it.I will never go here again, feel completely ripped off. Lesson learned.

I would never recommend Lithia, this has been a nightmare. I bought a used car from them and about 2 weeks into having it, the radiator started leaking. We talked to them and they blew us off like nothing was even happening. now 4 weeks later they are telling us that its a $2300 fix for a new radiator, that they clearly missed when they inspected the car. Worst customer service I have ever experienced. Save yourself the money and headache, lithia is not worth it.

I bought a car from here awhile back and purchased lifetime oil changes at the same time. We took our car to the lithia in Ames for an oil change and they never refilled the car with oil! I checked it about a thousand miles later as this is my girlfriends car and the oil did not even register on the dip stick! I received no apology and they will not admit guilt. The service manager in Ames is trying to tell me these cars burn all their oil in a thousand miles all the time and it is nothing to worry about. I have worked on cars my entire life and own a trucking company. I know that he is lying to me and giving me the run around because he knows there has been irreparable damage to the enternal engine components. This is unacceptable. I warn anyone to not do business here.

Overall 1st car buying experience wasn’t bad, bought a 2013 GTI. I love the car other than some minor fixes I’ll take into my own hands. got some weird vibes from other car salesmen while buying the car. People working on the floor could probably work on their customer service when someone walks in the door. Also have had to make multiple stops at the dealership to sign paperwork that was improperly filled out. I want to give a special thanks to Dwayne in finances he deserves six stars, he is great.

My car buying experience was smooth and easy, but it’s the service and the management that are awful. A year ago, I went in for an oil change and they did a “courtesy inspection” in which everything checked out perfectly, according to them. The day after the service, several lights came up on my dash and I called about it. I knew what the lights were for, but the service person said I was mistaken and it was just the tire pressure... low tire pressure doesn’t affect the coolant and front headlight of my car. After several hours on the phone, nobody could tell me why they didn’t top off the coolant or check the tire pressure, but I had the papers where they said everything perfect the day before. The manager said he would call me that afternoon, but didn’t care to call so I had to reach back out for 4 days. He called to tell me I could cancel my service and they would refund the remainder of the time I had left... I just needed the issue fixed and an apology but didn’t get either one. I called yesterday for another appointment and was promised a call back. I, again, did not receive a call back.

Alex Henson the salesman who sold me the truck i bought is a out rite liar. during the test drive the low oil pressure light came on while driving. a common problem with this year of silverado and a easy fix. alex told me they had a certified gm mechanic who would fix it when i came back to sign the paperwork. the truck needed detailed also so alex told me it would be a couple of day to get them both done. when i get back to lithia sign paperwork was told the truck was taken care of and ready to go. so after a couple day i drive out of town to see some family the low oil pressure light comes back on. check under the hood remove the engine cover they never even changed the sensor. even told them i would do it myself. if they would take a few hundred off the price. he said no we will take care of it. i am very dissapointed in litha for letting something like this happen

I went in not knowing what to expect. Im a Maryland transplant and normally my Dad would assist me with buying a new vehicle. Randy joked I could pretend he was my dad and he would guide me as best he could. He worked closely with me and listened to what I wanted. In the end I left with a new car. He has assisted me with the after sale services I purchased and made it all seamless. Dwayne was fun and nice to work with through the financial aspect and paper work. They were both like dealing with a family member or friend more than a stranger or like other dealerships that try to force you into something.

They damaged my wheel when changing tires and now I cannot resell. The woman at the desk was rude and had no idea what was going on, the next person had no idea what was going on. They were supposed to have a key for me but forgot it. I drove them wheels that I didnt have to give them and they damaged mine and cost me at minimum $1000. I feel like I need a lawyer with me every time I go there.
