This location does not hold a candle to the one in Westmont. They are super stingy here when it comes to sandwich ingredients, even when you ask for extra and are willing to pay for it....the sandwiches are not cheap to begin with either btw. Owner seems like he is more worried about his side catering business than the actual store location. Picture attached shows what you get when you ask for extra turkey and peppers....👎

Their bagels are nice and big. They stay nice for a couple days. Last time I Tried their veggie delight sandwich, it was not very good. It’s definitely not the $8.99 that they had price it for. All it was was bagel tomato onion and cheese. But the cream cheese and bagel is really good but definitely recommend that.

Maybe even your local coffeehouse. They all probably offer bagels. What makes The Great American Bagel so… great? Is it better than everyone else?Well, if you had to go off my one visit. I would rank it as one of the most ‘meh’ bagels I have had. If I recall correctly, I had a toasted chocolate chip bagel. It was too hard/crispy and because of that, the flavor of the bagel itself was lost. 😦 As someone who loves a good bagel, this was a sad start to a dreary day.A bagel is the only thing I had here and I have only been here the one time. Aside from bagels, they offer your typical large selection of coffees and a wide variety of sandwiches and breakfast items. I like to give places the benefit of a doubt, so if I am ever near one and want a bagel again, I will give them a second chance! Which shouldn’t be too hard since they have roughly 50+ locations in the United States.

Such great and unique foods. I need to get there more often and try everything they have. I dont believe Ive ever had anything bad there.

Best bagels around and they are twice the size of other bagel places. We get them by the dozen or sometime get a bagel breakfast sandwich. Its a small shop and sometimes has a line out the door. I recommend going early enough to avoid the crowd.

To top it off, you can buy containers of their cream cheese right from them.Love it here, open nice and early. Dine in available. Tried it for the first time today. I had the cinnamon bagel, it was big and delicious. They have a large cream cheese selection but went with the plain and was yummy. Looking forward to trying more items off the menu.

My bagel wasnt real fresh and they didnt have cream cheese with salmon. I wont visit again. Another thing is they dont have an online menu like the other locations do.

Me and my dad go here 24/7 now. We never really stopped in but when we first came, the smell was mesmerizing! New favorite spot and the chipotle cheese bagels are fantastic

I definitely recommend their bacon cheddar jalapeño bagel, toasted and with cream cheese. So goood and surprisingly soft!! 👍🌟 Their regular coffee is pretty good too. ☕💕

First time picking up food from here and have mixed feelings. Food was better then I expected but the staff was not. Waited about 5 minutes before anyone even talked to me-no greeting, no we’ll be right with you, not even a glare. Took order and was not friendly but also wasn’t mean. There was no communication between the staff either as I paid for something extra at the register and had to go back to get it. So while the food was good, won’t be returning anytime soon.

The Bagel bundle which gives you 13 bagels and two tubs of cream cheese which again there is a variety of different cream cheese flavors to choose from too. The gentleman who checked me out, offered me a sample of a Rose balsamic vinegar that he imports from Italy and OMG it was so tasty and I had to buy it.

Over price in my opinion but it was so 😋 yummy

Too many Bagels to pick from, I wanted all but about three of them. My sister could only eat 3/4 of her Locks sandwich. After I finish my breakfast bagel I forced myself to help her out. Prices are a little rich for me, BUT far better then any burgerdoodle. Was our 2nd time there, and will go back again.

I have been coming here for years. The staff is always nice and gets my order correct. Until today, I came in and asked for my usual BLT on an everything bagel. The young gentleman who took my order and I assumed was working on my order came back after several minutes and asked if he could help someone else. I was in shock, not only was he not working on my order it seemed he had forgotten all about it. Everyone has a bad day but after years of coming here I am upset this happened. After I confronted him and said, wait what about my order? He didnt even say anything. I just said forget it and left.

The bagels are up to the highest standards and fresh as can be. The place may be small but welcoming over all the experience was nice. If I could rate it myself I would rate it 15 small bagels out of 10.

Came here just for a frozen coffee because theyre amazingggg, but ended up ordering an egg and cheese sandwich with it too. I asked for a large frozen coffee and was almost given a hot coffee, but I repeated that it was a frozen coffee that I wanted. The cashier confirmed it with me again, even repeated frozen coffee back to me, then proceeded to make me an iced coffee... At this point it was too awkward to correct them again and I ended up paying for the iced coffee. On another note the sandwich was great.

Wow, this place was great. It was my first visit and I was really impressed. I was kind of in a hurry so I didnt get to really look around, I did pick up one of there menus and I will be going back. The bagel I had was very fresh and looking at what you can get from the menu my mouth was watering and waiting to try something else. Very neat and clean.

I always look forward to my Sunday morning bagel sandwich. Its a very cozy and friendly environment. I also love and appreciate that they offer a veggie sausage alternative.

But, I will have a difficult time deciding what bagel to put it on. There are so many yummy ones to pick from.

I give five stars this time. I was greeted as soon as I walked in the door and I ordered a sesame bagel, with cream cheese, which I highly recommend. I had no problem getting it Double Toasted. The owner promptly rang me up and I was in and out in about 3 minutes. A very good experience.

This place is awesome! Food is always good and service is good. The owner is phenomenal!! I went in today and purchased food to have on my lunch break but I forgot my drink at the counter when I was purchasing. I called the store and told them I would pick it up another day since I didn’t want to be late to work. The owner was so kind to get in his car and drive my drink To my job! I was so thankful and so surprised because not may (if any) would do something like this. I recommend this place to anyone who lives in the area! Great people!

Called this morning @ 10:45 am w/ no appointment, preplanned or anything, to see if they could do a bagel delivery to a local business by 11:30 b/c the business closes at noon. Decided to try this place for the first time today, and I was so impressed! The bagels are big and delicious, and their homemade cream cheeses were amazing. They have so many bagel and cream cheese flavors...I went in with the intention of just a couple bagels and ended up with a whole bakers dozen and two cream cheeses at a very good price! And when I ordered my box of a dozen bagels, it came in an easy to carry box with a bundle of paper plates and napkins inside. It also came with a bag to freeze leftover bagels. What great management and procedures they have!! For a recommendation, try the banana nut bagel with chocolate chip cream cheese...so yummy. Would recommend to everyone!!

Cute place. The bagels lacked the chewy texture I was expecting like Einsteins. The coffee was rather weak and the sausage on the breakfast bagel was so overly sage flavored I had to remove it in order to eat the sandwich. Its a chain and I dont think these things can be changed because of that fact.

Brought my daughters after a visit to the nearby doctors office. Wanting to support a small business. Well I paid much more for 2 crunch bagel with only butter than I would have at Panera. Over $6. Each bagel was 1.99, we knew this. I asked why the total came to 6.24. He said there was an up charge for the crunch topping, which was just plain sugar packed on top. And then when I said the price is marked as 1.99. He then changes the story and says its 60 cents for butter per bagel and that he has to pay for butter and tells me the cost of butter per pound. Whatever. He gives me my change and what I thought was a receipt. Not sure if this was Christian who was mentioned by another reviewer but it seems to me he was the owner by the way he knew the cost of the inventory. As I leave out the door. I started to do the math. 2+2+1.20=5.20 and then even if the tax is 10% thats .52 cents. So the total should have been just under 5.72. I pull out my change and receipt to see how u paid over .50 cents more than I should have. And what do you know. It wasnt a receipt. It was this (shown in pic). Well no need for this because I will not be coming back. I was overcharged and he knew it. I understand you have to keep your doors open and I want that for them too as I am pro small businesses but be straight forward and dont penny pinch customers and if I am questioning prices just give me my receipt. I almost bothered to go back in for my receipt. I really wanted to like this place. My girls love bagels. When will companies realize a bad customer experience is 80% more likely to be shared than a great one. It just okay bagels and bad service. Not my cup of tea.

I organized the breakfast and lunch menus for a conference of more than 125 participants, with many different dietary restrictions. I never felt challenged as Tom and his team found solutions for all my needs. Everyone was fed with no one having to bring their own lunch. I received many compliments and could only say it was all due to the cooperation of The Great American Bagel team on Essington Road in Joliet. Tom personally worked with me to alter menu items to accommodate all the dietary issues. Everything looked yummy and no one felt awkward.DONT COUNT THEM OUT BECAUSE THEIR MAIN FARE IS BAGELS! They made amazing salads and fruit dishes. Just some of what they had to adjust for: Gluten free, Dairy free, No Peanuts, Vegans, and Vegetarians. Their Vegie Sandwiches and Wraps are marvelous.The attention to detail and pleasant manner of the staff are rare in this fast food business.TRY THEM. Youll stop torturing yourself trying to find delicious items at a great price.
