Had a poor experience here. I want to learn to play guitar and I had some questions about some telecasters. The clerk couldn’t tell me the difference between different woods or body constructions, different levels of components, or anything useful about why I might prefer one over another. I knew more than he did just from 15 minutes of online research that I did before coming to the store. After losing any credibility by fumbling through the telecaster questions, he recommended an amp that they don’t sell in the store, tried to sell me some $9 guitar picks (just throw one in for the new player who’s spending $300+ here instead of on Amazon), and failed to ask if I needed a strap, so now I’m home and don’t have one. Finally, when I asked if they had a veteran discount, he said yes and scanned the relevant bar code. It was advertised as a 10% savings, but somehow literally not one of the 6 things we purchased qualified for the discount—it doesn’t include sale items, scratched/dented items, etc. I guess that’s fine if that’s your policy, but the clerk knew everything we were buying and didn’t explain the policy to us up front, instead waiting until we asked why it didn’t show up on the receipt, and then brandishing the fine print in our faces. The reason we bought in store vs online at Amazon was 1) I knew they offered a veteran discount, and 2) I wanted the expertise and advice of someone who knows and loves guitars. I got neither thing that I came for (the most heinous offense being the clerk’s utter lack of knowledge about guitars and care for providing a positive experience to a potential new player).I have to think that GC is barely hanging on at this point with the ease of purchasing and availability of information online—the only ways to differentiate themselves are by having physical guitars that you can touch and by having exceptionally passionate, knowledgeable, helpful staff. I appreciated being able to hold the guitar and see the color before buying, but the guy we dealt with ensured that I will be making all future guitar-related purchases on Amazon.

David knows what he is talking about when it comes to Bass and equipment. I see him about all major purchases. If you want a great customer service experience, come on down to the Joliet branch! The management is great!

Joe was extremely helpful with an online order I placed. After the store near me was unable to fulfill my order, I saw the same guitar was at this location used. Joe answered before the store was even open. He took down my info, solved my problem, and called me back. I have the guitar I want coming to me and Im thankful to Joe for all of his help and communication.

Traded in my old acoustic. Knew I wasnt getting much for it but enough to walk out with a digital recorder and then some.Rachel was awesome. Knew her stuff and very friendly!

This guitar center had plenty of instrument options to explore and had a few staff on hand to help. Odd arrows were taped to the floor but no directional shopping was really necessary.

The stock is varied, if they dont have it in store you can order it & have it delivered at no extra cost.The staff is extremely friendly & knowledgeable. They can offer you advice on everything from music tutors to the best venues to see a concert.The store is always clean, you can generally hear someone trying out an instrument, its just a great musical place and its close to home.

I really like the people here. I mean, guitar center is guitar center. They have a good stock of instruments and everything else you need. But what sticks out is the staff. Everyone here is really cool and helpful. This is my regular stop for all my music needs pretty much.

Honestly, they did a great job. They helped me every step of the way. I might be one of the pickiest guys ever and they totally understood, and helped me until I eventually picked out a guitar. I went to 3 guitar centers and played countless guitars and they put up with every step of the way. Great job.

This has got to be one of my favorite Guitar Center stores. Every location varies in style and layout but its always a great experience. This one in particular has some of the most unique guitars and vintage gear. Love the sound in their acoustic room as well.

Unfortunately I didnt catch the name but the gentleman who assisted me was very friendly and provided me with tons of helpful information! Im confident that if you knew absolutely nothing about the equipment in the store they would assist you to find the best product for your needs!

Chose two new guitars for my boys for Christmas. One came in a box, the other didnt. Unfortunately after he opened the box we found that the guitar wasnt the one we had chosen. Luckily enough my son was happy with the fact that he got a guitar, and didnt care that it wasnt the one we chose for him. Considering how much time we spent in the store with the associate, he definitely should have gotten the right guitar!

Seems that they dont have much product in the store. I was a little disappointed, I guess they are suffering like everyone else due to covid.

Well, this isnt the best Guitar Center Ive ever been to un my life. Despite NOT being busy AT ALL -- I think there MAY have been a single other browsing customer in the store -- the clerk in the room we initially walked into upon entering the store didnt greet us when we walked in, didnt respond at all when we first tried to get his attention and then wasnt what I would call helpful once we actually did ask him for some help. The girl in the other room was slightly more friendly, but really not much more helpful. I was looking for a sturdy stand for a rather hefty electronic piano I have and she ultimately just told me that none of theirs were very good and she didnt know where else to tell me to look. My son was looking for, and actually ended up purchasing a $300 banjo. But when he asked the first guy to show him what was in stock, he basically took him to THE banjo, pretty much said, thats what we have, and walked away. I suppose he had to get back behind his counter to do a little more useless standing around. I actually think he also started vacuuming at one point, too, though I wont swear that was him ... it could have been a third person. And its not like we walked in 5 minutes before close. It was more like 45 minutes prior. So, anyway, apparently the staff at this store dont really love working there. They were certainly not eager to help, did not actually help even when asked to do so, and were more interested in starting their process to escape as SOON as closing time hit than in, I dont know, generating the sales that lead to the profit that keeps the store in business, enabling it to pay them at all.

Excellent customer service and great team. Kyle, Giovanni, Victor and some of the team from audio helped me along every step of the way with purchasing multiple pieces of gear and walked me through everything in terms of setup. They had gone above and beyond their regular services by taking care of sending a Strandberg guitar back for a warranty repair for me by expediting delivery to a facility nearby rather than waiting for their regular shipping service all free of charge.They have lots of knowledge around products compared to most locations I’ve been to and saved me hours worth of research with wiring for my recording/live rig. I had been an online only consumer for music gear mainly for years with equipment, but nothing beats the quality service this location has to offer.

Id give .5 if possible...and thats merely for existing. My son wanted an acoustic guitar for Christmas. Since I know nothing about guitars, we went to Joliet guitar center. We spent 30 minutes in the acoustic room while 3 employees did nothing. No one greeted us, no one checked on us to see if we had questions, and no one said goodbye to us. Never again.

I just want to say “new store manger, Kyle is a wonderful person”. He will always try his best to satisfy all customer needs. I have known from the other 2 stores and I have seen him how to treat customers. He is the one of the reason I always buy music gear from the guitar center. Best wishes,

Don the Manager and employees were so helpful and went out of their way to find the Amp I needed for my daughters graduation gift.b They found one at another store and will get it for me right away. They also made sure I used the guitar bucks I earned and gave me a loaner until amp arrives. This is why we love shopping at guitar center!!!!

They have a guy there named Jacob. He knows his stuff concerning drums and percussion. He was helpful and insightful. If you need help with regards to drums, ask for him. They do a great job there.

Wouldn’t give my husband and I the time of day. We waited 25 minutes before anyone asked us if we needed anything. When we were finally waited on, the sales person didn’t have a clue on basic instrument questions. Don’t waste your time.

This Guitar Center store is in the middle of a strip shopping mall with plenty of parking. The store is rather small and cramped relative to other stores I have visited. They have a lot of stock onsite but it is really jammed into small rooms. The staff was friendly and attentive as I browsed the store.

Went in here yesterday,No one greeted us or talked to us the whole time I was here. I was looking to buy a new guitar while on vacation upwards of $500+ but no one told me what amps were plugged up or made recommendations.The staff had personal conversations and played with the inventory.Ive never been more disappointed with the lack or professionalism or basic customer service skills. I will stick to shopping at Sam Ash.

Ive been to better guitar centers. Some staff members know their stuff but a bunch of them do not. Multiple times Ive picked up an instrument they had on a stand and its completely unplayable! Last time I was there I picked up a bass that was on a stand next to the amps and the strings were set so low that I could only get percussive sounds out of it. Ive seen guitars at this store with cracks in the necks that Ive seen in perfect condition in other guitar centers, yet still the same price

Guitar Center was great. I was looking for microphones for Micro Key machine. I found out I only needed new chords. The clerks know what theyre doing and are very helpful.

The staff were really nice & helpful, especially Jack who was also extremely patient. The store was busy so time waiting was a little long. Were they short-staffed or just customer service oriented so others had to wait for help? Unsure but not complaining.

Tyler took care of answering all my questions about the bass that I ordered. Unfortunately, the bass was shipped and slightly damaged, maybe because the box it came in didnt have fragile on it, the bass was listed as in Great Condition. I can live with it, the bass is awesome!

Great employees here!!! They seem to be used to people just coming in n rocking out on their equipment so they are really laid back n friendly, very knowledgeable. The prices seem about same if you were going to buy the same product at a different music shop. Overall its a fun place n clean in there. Its kinda chilly in there though so bring a sweater or something inside w you if your always freezing

The current tech is very helpful. Always takes good care of my guitars. As well as phil being very knowledgeable about many products without any pressure to buy.

This place is awesome. Been here a few times even left a review already but I have to make it better. JACEK is THE MAN. He knows EVERYTHING and is super nice and straight forward and friendly. ZOE is a professional violinist and knows everything about them. She told me what needed to be fixed and where and tuned my little girls violin for free. I LOVE THIS PLACE. I didnt know places and people like this still existed. Ive given hundreds of review and this is the first place I wished I could give 7 starts.

I bought a high end guitar here. I wanted to establish a relationship and felt good about Joe, my salesman. He was top notch and I will see him again. Usually, when you spend well over a thousand dollars you can ask for a freebie. I wanted some free strings but had to fight for them. Strings are high profit items and depending on the customer can be used to cultivate a great relationship. That put me on defense for the future.

So I love music stores.Guitar center is one of my favorites.They are usally real pros.I been in there in the evening and its a free for all, bunch of kids from high school running around the staff mind you not customers.Was kinda like ugggghhh.Went back in the day time and it was a well run guitar center.full of pros as it should be.Was very happy with every thing.

Went in to buy a ukelele for a gift. Walked out knowing everything needed. I bought some things, left some up to the recipient because some things depend on personal taste. I was never pressured or hurried though the store was busy. I was apprehensive walking in but felt confident of my purchase walking out. Most if all the recipient was very happy with the gifts.

Guitar center is always a great place to look for anything music. If you are a musician, this is a place for you. There are not too many places to buy instruments around, but GC is a good option. They do rent as well. I rented an amp for my bass. I did go in to buy an acoustic bass bag and they didnt carry any onsite.

Went in for a wireless to replace mine that died- walked out with a new Martin D-90 new that was unbelievably well priced. Staff was very attentive to my needs and ordered what I needed and had it the next day. Inventory on high end is a bit lacking but the player demographic really dictates the inventory... Even bought a few extra Martin strings for $2.50 a set (Reg $8.99) Have nothing bad at all to say about the shop.... I dont know how the staff handles all the kids who sound like they are beating a cat against a guitar all day- I could easily see having a bad day working there....

I realize that most of the review of this store look very polarizing or intimidating, but fret not. The service, in my experience, was never terrible, and I have been there multiple days a week. If this place scorned you, give it another try, they have an amazing in-store selection and usually great service. I give it an easy 5/5

It all depends on who you get. Ive had rude disinterested sales people and Ive had very friendly people who couldnt answer my questions. They have a great selection and good prices, but they lack the personality of a local music store.

Went in to get replacement wires for in-ear monitors and was told that they do not carry replacement parts in this Joliet store. Although they didnt carry what I needed the audio dept employee knew exactly what I was talking about and checked all surrounding stores before offering to have the part shipped to their store.
