Really cool, knowledgeable, and helpful staff! Always a pleasure to stop in. THE place to go in northeast Arkansas for musical equipment &/or lessons. An impressive gear selection for a store in such a small city. They do killer setups too! Zach made my old Alvarez play like it never had! Really good folks there!

For a small place they had a pretty good variety of gear and instruments. You could find an inexpensive guitar or a top-of-the line Taylor or Fender. They have a pretty good selection of pedals and amps as well as your standard items like strings, picks, and straps. They also make repairs and offer lessons.

The staff here is always super helpful with whatever we may need. Three of my boys have taken music lessons from Trent, and he is hands down one of the most talented musicians I know! He is also very patient and works great with kids. I recommend him to everyone that I hear about wanting music lessons.

Went to them for help with my sons guitar. Came to find out it would be more expensive to fix it than to just buy a new one. Showed us some they had in stock and pricing options. Will definitely be back.

I have been doing business with them off and on for 12 years now. I did more back in the day when I was in a band and playing regularly, but I can tell you the staff here is always helpful and courteous to my wife and I (even tolerant of my two year old). I have bought two guitars from them, several effects pedals and have even had their help in getting an amp serviced through an outside source. There is no where else in Jonesboro to get the service and quality of shop they have.

I highly recommend Back Beat. My daughter and I went in a couple weeks ago to have a look around. Greg let my daughter try out a few instruments to see what she liked the most. We will be doing lessons soon at the store. Thank you Greg for the help!

Utilizing Greg’s expertise in marketing / creation in my business on social media and I could not be more pleased with his help! The equipment he’s suggested and sold has all been top notch and worked very. Plus, he doesn’t just take your money and run. I’ve been by and talked with him numerous times to better understand my technical capacity and he is always willing to help me better understand this craft. Can not recommend Greg and Back Beat Music enough!!!!!

As a first time buyer I received amazing service from the staff. How great you ask? So great that I walked in with a $200 budget and walked out with a $1,000 limited edition black and gold Fender Stratocaster without even as much as a sales pitch. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a new or used instrument.

Yeah, I like the shop, but didn’t have the best experience. I brought my classical guitar in from out of town, and called first to specifically ask if they could restring with nylon wound. I brought another electric guitar in as well, since it needed new strings too. When I picked them up, they were both restrung, but my classical guitar was restrung with steel strings, not what I asked. They said they were out of nylon strings, but that these would work. It really changed the whole sound, and was not what I wanted. They didn’t show me the package, or indicate what type of strings for either guitar, but the invoice for both was almost $100! No set up, or anything, just a re-string. And I have no idea what they put on there. I guess it’s probably my fault that I have no time to put on my own strings, so let that be a lesson to me.

I usually do not write reviews about businesses, but I had to about this store. The customer service is absolutely horrid. There staff is arrogant and condescending. If you have any questions about a product, do not be surprised if they are rude and treat you like you do not know what you are talking about. They do not have that bad of a selection for a store that size, but all there items are overpriced. If you are looking to buy a reasonably priced product, buy it online from somewhere like Amazon or Sweetwater, and save yourself from a bad experience. If you are looking to do a trade in, be prepared for them to give you as little money as possible. You might as well sell it online or sell it to a pawn shop. You will earn more money that way. They will find the lowest price online of the item you are buying, and that is what they will offer you. It does not matter how bad the condition of the product online is, or what condition your item is in.This is one of the only local music shops in Jonesboro besides Allstar Music. I will not be returning to Back Beat Music. If you are trying to decide whether or not shop there, I will save you time: DO NOT! It is almost worth driving to Memphis to buy a product. I know this review seems very one sided, but I can not think of a single good experience I have had there. I wish there was something good I could say, but there is simply not.

Darrel Sykes, one of the employees, was absolutely rude and passive aggressive to me the first time I walked in there. He told me that the music scene here is cliquish then proceeded to ignore the fact I was in the store after trying to sell me a cheap-o condenser mic (I was looking for an AT4040). Trying to give them another shot after a couple of years I took a bass there for a repair, restring, and a set-up. The guitar tech was curt, impersonal, and left the old strings on there. When I went to pick it up, Darrel, another guy, and someone who I believe is the owner just stood there talking to each other for several minutes before seeing why I was there. There were no other customers visible. My bass turned out to be unplayable when I got it home, every note buzzed, and the saddles were lowered as far as they could go.The inventory is lacking and the aloofness of the staff makes the place a total disappointment. Ill drive to Memphis, Nashville, or St. Louis to outfit my home studio. I would advise any parent looking to get their teenager started on an instrument to look elsewhere.Edit in response to the owners reply:If by imagine it you mean how your staff actually treated me, then yes, thats exactly how it happened.

This quaint music store in Jonesboro Arkansas is my new choice for all of my musical needs. I was referred to them by my daughter after she had been in the store and made several purchases. The staff is very helpful and will take the extra time to explain all the different components of a set and how they work with each other. This can be a costly pitfall for “new guys” like me.We take all of our guitars to them when we need professional work taken care of, and they have always been fast efficient and affordable.Greg has put together a great team, and they have been in business since the mid-nineties. There is no reason to drive to a large box store, or to order online. Back Beat Music can get it if they don’t have it, and it won’t cost you a fortune.I recommend BBM to all of my friends, and nothing but great experiences each and every time I have been there. Do yourself a favor, and take the worry out of buying your gear.If you are thinking about wanting to learn guitar drums or whatever, they also have several teachers that are top notch. They have my business from this day forward.

I recently had a bass guitar accident, where the fingerboard became separated from the neck, right at the tuning pegs! Ive had this bass for around 14 years, so I was devastated! Lucky for me, Greg, Darrell and all the guys at Backbeat were super helpful, hooking me up with an awesome repair that got my bass guitar back playing just as good as it was before, and they even found a problem I didnt know I had and got it covered! Great Customer Service for me, great pricing for the repair, and great experience!

Im a beginner on the guitar, I called last week with questions about string buzz on an old guitar that I am trying to learn on. After a short conversation I decided to take it in, so I show up unannounced on a Saturday morning. The staff immediately looked at my guitar and answered my questions. I left it with them and a few ours later they called me and said they were done. Totally satisfied with the prompt service. Ill be back soon and find my new guitar. For the record I live 2 1/2 hours away and can go to places closer if I thought I could get better treatment, but I have not found that to be the case.

Been going here for almost a decade. Probably the most condescending and overall lackluster service you can get in Jonesboro. If youre a musician and you have a question, prepare for a rough time. Great inventory, bad pricing.Im being harsh with my rating, but in my defense Ive been here at least thirty times in my life and have some terrible stories to go along with my dissatisfaction. There are things that you just do not do in customer service.Sadly enough, the decent music stores have all closed up. Backbeat and All star are all we really have left and they are equally bad.EDIT: Not sure if All Star is still open actually; dont let that diminish my credibility. I avoid these places like the plague.
