A chocolate MASTER works here! The guy at this shop was really wonderful. He makes the chocolates there and knows everything about all of them (as it seemed to me). He was able to explain this chocolate has a sweet spiciness, and then an orange aftertaste, and that one is made with almond such and such and whatnot. You can buy chocolates by the box, and pick each piece. The coolest part was that the box has numbers which correspond to the chocolate inside, and he gives you a map, showing which chocolate you purchased, and where to locate it in your box. Very impressive (maybe Im just easily amused). But this is a fair-trade shop, so they are also good for the other small shops making their living. Its a small place, but you will leave you with a big smile.

The selection is pretty extensive and found so many amazing vegetarian and vegan options! The staff is so helpful, knowledgeable about potential allergens and courteous as well. Bought a bulk order on my first visit.

Absolutely brilliant!! What an amazing premise for a business model to give back to a community that gives so much. On top of that the chocolate is delicious. A dozen VEGAN items on top of dozens more that are a real taste explosion! There wonderful assortment is accompanied by a friendly and knowledgeable staff to walk you through the buying experience based and dietary and taste preferences. Dont forget your double shot of truffle hot chocolate on those cold days too.

The best chocolate and bakery sweets I have ever tasted anywhere!He also hires people who can’t get jobs or rides to work and provides them with jobs and a ride to work. He buys fair trade chocolate and other items he needs to use and the service is second to none. He really walks the walk, a path of righteousness and he doesn’t advertise it he just does it because it’s right. And the prices are the best. I don’t know he he provides the best of everything all at once, wait yes I do! He isn’t greedy and he loves people like the lord :) and I believe the same goes for his wonderful mother who also works along side him in the bakery.

This place is a dream! Not only is it such a wonderful cause, but it was a great experience. There are so many amazing chocolate choices that are so unique. I got the lavender caramel truffle, tamarind chili truffle, and a rose one! Well worth the money, amazing flavor, and I will absolutely be back for more.

You walk into a cozy, chocolate smelling haze, and get greeted with a helpful guy that knows his stuff. Girlfriend needed sweets for her mother, and told the gentleman that she would trust his expertise to find the perfect mix. He hit the nail on the head, asked for tastes the mom would like, and boom, gfs mom loved the whole the thing. This has been going on for years now, and i cant see an end. Great stuff.

I had an absolutely wonderful experience with Dale at Confections with Convictions. Im not from the area - actually - Ive never been to the area. I called the shop because I wanted to get my girlfriend a birthday gift who was in the area for a couple of days on business. Dale was incredibly helpful about how I could get chocolates to her and the service was beyond spectacular. Even better were the chocolates themselves!!! When my girlfriend came home she shared some with me (reluctantly) and each one was beautifully crafted - both aesthetically and taste-fully!Thank you Dale for wonderful service and wonderful chocolate!

I love this place not only for the chocolate (decadent, delicious, and surprising), but also because it is fun being around someone who loves what hes doing and does it with passion. Its easy to get into an informative conversation on chocolate, truffles, candies, flavor combinations, etc. . . If youre lucky, youll meet Dales mother who can often be found lending a supportive and helping hand. You can feel good about your purchases, as Dale uses organically grown, Fair Trade, & locally sourced, ingredients whenever possible. Did I mention my favorite is the dark chocolate, orange, and cardamom, but Dale always pushes me to try something outside my comfort zone. Im never disappointed (although the orange is still my favorite). The store also stocks a wide variety of chocolate bars, along with some unique t-shirts, stationery, and other items to remind you of your unique experience.

This is the absolute best candy shop I have ever been to. We drive nearly 2 hours from South Bend, Indiana to get candy as often as possible. Dale is the most sweet man you will ever meet and the variety of chocolate truffles and caramels is huge! Something for every taste.

I cant believe its taking me so long to review this place. Ive been to Germany lived in England travel through Belgium sampled the finest chocolatiers. Confections with convictions is on par or better than any chocolate youve ever had anywhere for any costs. New customers get a free truffle their first time so stop in and see why we go here all the time.

So the owner was super friendly it was my first time in. Got to try a free sample I tried a cream and it tasted off. Everything looked so pretty and my son really wanted me to buy so I decide to try some of the Caramels. Everything tasted off, I hate it but most taste of musty basement. It smelled off when we walked in. I wanted to give it a fair chance. I think theres ventilation issues or moisture issues. Not quite sure. Ive had good chocolate and I dont feel my tastes are off. The guest I shared with felt the same way. Im afraid I wont be back even though I bought the refil tin. It did not smell of yummy chocolate it smelled musty. Im truly sorry I have to be honest. Or all the different smells mix in the case and make the chocolate taste and smell off

Each year I do a valentines day exchange with friends from around the country. Confections with Convictions is the only place I get my chocolates from. They are beyond delicious and for my vegan friend some of the only things she can eat at valentines.

Since we come from a country with the best cacao (cacao de Chuao, Venezuela), finding a cheerful haute chocolatier, Dale Anderson, in Kalamazoo has been a real treat. An exceptional variety of creative confections (truffles) handmade from organic chocolate by young people who have had a difficult past. This latter social initiative is indeed singular and praiseworthy. Anyway, if you want to buy a present for a dear one, this would certainly be a recommended first stop. We also like sitting down for a while to have a chat with Dale and his mum over a hot cup of rich chocolate.
