They are also super kind and always going the extra mile for people and the wilderness areas around the valley. In a world of big box stores and half baked customer service this place is a jewel full of what really matters.

Best place for mountaineering and outdoors in the Flathead. The employees are all amazing, knowledgeable and friendly. If you are new here as I was not too long ago, they are more than happy to point you in the direction of good backcountry, climbing, kayaking or whatever your personal fun is. As far as gear goes they always have a great selection on hand for almost everything and an impressive amount of climbing equipment.

RMO is THE best sports store I could imagine. Jandy and staff are stellar and keep me returning for more kayaks! Their selection is great, knowledge is vast, and patience has been so appreciated in helping me load up my kayaks properly and safely. I come all the way up from Bozeman just to do business with them. Also love their downtown location. They were exceptionally understanding of a sale one year when I was sick and went out of their way to help me modify my order. From that they earned my undying loyalty! Recently purchased two pairs of hiking boots. Staff was remarkably knowledgeable. They are all active experienced outdoors people who understand the sport as well as the equipment.You don’t get this level of expertise from the big box stores.

You will regularly run into the owner and never know it (unless you recognize him from the magazine cover) because he acts just like any other employee helping customers around the store. This is a great local shop. Im always searching out historical places and they have a great selection of maps and knowledge. They have a very good selection of outdoor gear and they know all the local professionals. When I was looking for cross country skiing lessons, they knew the right people and I got a great instructor.

Its a nice shop with all the gear you need for multi sport outdoor adventures. The prices may be a little higher than online but the folks are really helpful. I had called just to get some info on cycling Glacier National Park and talked on the phone with a guy for quite a long time and got very useful info from a local perspective. I went into RMO yesterday looking for information on Telemark skiing which can be difficult to find. Upon walking into the store I was greeted by a staff member who pointed me towards his co-worker. I had a wonderful conversation with him! Extremely knowledgeable about everything Telemark related! Absolutely will be returning this fall to buy a new setup from these rad people!

RMO is a store that has been around for a long time here. I never had gone in there until this summer because I just ASSUMED it would be a high price tourist trap. I WAS WRONG! I found that they carry only high end stuff at a great price. Remember, you get what you pay for. Since then I have bought several pairs of shoes and boots and next year will be buying all of my kayaking gear from them. They also have a knowledgable staff that is very helpful. Trust me, TRY THIS PLACE BEFORE YOU BUY ANYWHERE ELSE!
