Okay. First of all, this is one of my favorite cafes in Katy because of the location and how big the cafe is. Great place to meet up with people and study. Not the quietest place to study though but there are plenty of outlets and tables that fit up to four max. I recommend the cheesecake here for the pastries. I’ve tried the carrot cake and it was just ehh. I don’t think I’ll ever order the carrot cake but definitely the cheesecake! Coffee here is pretty good. I always get the brown sugar latte. I wish they had more specialty coffees. The options of coffee is pretty plain. If i want something other than coffee, I get the Royal Kona Milk Tea. It’s sweet and really delicious. Or if I want something refreshing, I like the Grapefruitade a lot! Recommend this for little kids too. Their musubis and sandwiches are on point. I love their sandwiches (I have tried grilled chicken and turkey breast and I love both. Its pretty well made with lots of ingredients inside). I wish they kept the kitchen open a bit longer because it closes at 2pm.
Coffee and gelato ($3.50 for a small, which is pretty big) are excellent!! Theyre are lots cakes, but I didnt try them. The atmosphere though. Its a beautiful coffee shop. Mellow music. Excellent service. Breakfast sandwiches are available between 6am-2pm. Lunch type sandwiches and sushi is available between 8am-2pm. Plenty of parking. 2 entry points. Clean bathrooms. Open view of coffee grinding area. Decor is available for sale.
Very fine coffee beans but can be a bit expensive for drinks like espresso. I love that they serve coffee in mugs and not just disposable cups. Great atmosphere and big enough for multiple small gatherings for meet ups or just to chill and sip. Only compliment is the cost but for high quality its worth it.
Just stopped here for coffee. It was excellent! Good beans. The place is inviting and has tables and couches where you can sit and talk to friends.
I have been going to Kona Roastery for about 3+ years. I am a college student and I love going there to study. The music is light, the environment is clean and doesnt make me feel squished. The Baristas are polite and easy to talk to. They even have a drive thru if you want to grab coffee on the go.Studying, bible study, catch up with friends. It is a great place! I wish I could give it 500 stars.
High quality coffee and warm vibe! Never seen people were standing and talking with such happy smiles in a coffee shop. Owners and staffs are very friendly and attentive. They pleasantly serve coffees and snacks to the table. I can feel something special here that I cannot experience in big franchise coffee shops. Kona is truly the best coffee shop in our community! My the only concern is losing my warm and cozy space due to fast increasing customers. Good news is that they will soon open the second nearby. Good for our neighbors. Also fantastic texas sunset in front of the Kona. I love this place!
The atmosphere is fun and gives a sense of the island theme they are going for. The ukulele music is really repetitive so bring headphones if you plan on staying a while. The staff is super friendly and does a good job of catering to the customer/cleaning up after people. I found the lobby and restrooms to be in good shape and never felt like I was in a gross place. But that’s where my positives can end. I’m not sure if it’s a coffee shop or sandwich shop. And I’m not sure they know either. It’s like it wants to be a coffee shop but is attempting to run as a restaurant. The menu doesn’t make much sense either. Many drinks with different names but no ingredient list or descriptions so you have to ask about every single one of them. The kitchen closes at 2 so you cant get any of their food items (except the pastry items) and even then, the kitchen items don’t pair the best with their coffee. It all seems random. The lack of coffee knowledge is VERY apparent. Manager David couldn’t even accurately answer where coffee Acidity comes from when another customer asked. As I said there are not any appropriate coffee pairings. And they do not sell any bags of 100% Kona coffee beans. Which is very strange given that’s their whole thing. The staff I spoke to didn’t know about different brewing methods and couldn’t help with grind type. Also, they are VERY MISLEADING when it comes to roast type. The coffee bags say “light” “medium” and “dark” but if you look at their display samples on the counter, they are all the same color. Ask to see fresh coffee and it is all the same color. It’s all more medium than anything else. I feel that there is a lot of potential but it is not executed well at all. Sad
Cute place with the Hawaiian theme. You can take the little ones and they will enjoy it too. The kids enjoyed their drinks. They always like going there.
This is our go-to spot for musubi of all varieties, although this last time I was there, I noticed they removed the tofu musubi from the menu. I hope it comes back soon, though. Traditional spam musubi is good, but salmon is tasty as well. And the avacado musubi is surprisingly tasty, too.
Ordered a coffee, but the girl was preparing a latte. I told her i ordered a coffee. She charged me for a latte and she told its the same price (but its not)
They accidentally made my drink with hazelnut instead of caramel, but the espresso was good. A little pricey.
I was greatly anticipating the opening of your home roasted coffee shop. Unfortunately, when I tried the coffee, I started to have palpitation, as my standard for coffee is quite high. Sadly, it was not up to my expectations and let me down. Perhaps you could change the coffee beans to a higher quality, as the level of it was a bit low in coffee standards. Aside the coffee, though, I enjoyed the desserts and snacks which were very delicious. The environment was great, too, with very open and awesome space perfect for having a outing with some friends. This part makes up for the poor quality of the coffee, making it worthy of four stars. I hope to be able to give Kona Haven Coffee 5 stars soon, and enjoy both the homemade snacks and great coffee at the same time! I look forward to it the next time I go!
I have been going to Kona Roastery (previous Kona Haven) since the day it opened. My mom and I go once a week and do a morning Bible study. Also, as a student, I love going here to get some studies done. Especially with school online right now, I appreciate a new scenery. Very cozy inside. I get their caramel macchiato hot or cold (depending on the mood). I have a severe dairy allergy and they are very accommodating to my needs.
I went to buy unroasted coffee beans and learned they dont sell. They sell half pound (8 oz) roasted ground coffee for $12.99 on average + tax = Extremely expensive. I came back without buying the coffee. If you are looking for good unroasted coffee beans, buy from Costco! 10 lbs for $54.99.
My daughter and I take regular trips to Kona. The chai tea lattes are the bomb. The muffins have a delicious creamy center. We also love the cranberry scones. The decor at Kona blows away all the other coffee shops. The food selection is devine. The staff are all super sweet. If you want info on the coffee, the roast it there on site. 5 stars all the way around for this place.
Really great atmosphere. Drinks were good too.
The coffee: I ordered the cortado, which is off menu. The espresso really packs a punch. It has very bold flavors, tasting sharp on the tongue with a good amount of bitterness. Its hard to describe the flavors though. Its a bit savory. I wouldnt recommend this drink to anyone who doesnt already really like very dark roasts and minimal extra stuff. It definitely shakes you up, but its not something I would want to casually sip on regularly. The shop: Its very spacious. I like the cute Hawaiian theme. They have nice plants, good wall art, and a big neon sign that Im sure people love to take pictures of. There are plenty of windows to let in done natural light. Theyre open early and close relatively late which is awesome, and they offer free wifi. My only complaint is that there arent that many outlets, which is minor but means it isnt that great to do work if its busy. The staff: Very friendly. They greet customers, explain different menu items, and engage in small talk well. They asked me how I like my drink, and offered to re-make it if I had any issues with it.Overall: This is one of the only places offering Hawaiin coffee beans, and its nice that the experience is enjoyable. If you dont know what to expect as I didnt, the espresso drinks are very strong in flavors that might not agree with everyone. I think the atmosphere and customer service make it a worthwhile visit though. They also offer smoothies and some food items.
Yummy pastries and gelato! Of course the coffee is delicious
I definitely was expecting more, considering how many good local roasters there are in Houston. They only had one single origin coffee available, and while they were able to make a manual V60 pour-over, there was no sweetness to it, no tropical fruit notes at all. I would almost say it was overextracted. I did buy a bag of the single origin, only titled Extra Fancy. Hopefully, I will be able to get a good cup out of it, but currently my expectations are very low.
I had a 12oz ice coffee with soy for $3.75. Service was nice. I used my credit card and had to sign for the purchase. Not too busy. They made it quickly and all employees wore masks.
Precious shop and very nice staff - only place I can think of where I can get ice cream for breakfast without it being too sweet, so I recommend the affogato latte if you like something indulgent. My friend had the chai tea latte and she couldnt say enough nice things, so next time Im here, thats going to be my next treat and I look forward to it!
Excellent coffee. Well served.
This place is just awesome. Great coffee, great food and great people. Plus, its local. Support them all you can.
My friend and I went for the first time today. Service was great. The barista really listened to me and made great suggestions. Their Oatmeal Latte was delicious and very well crafted. The latte was served in a ceramic mug since I was dining in. I really appreciate that since it is so much less wasteful. The atmosphere is casual and sophisticated. I love the live plants!
We had an egg and avocado bagel for breakfast which was delicious, the coffee was top notch too and a really nice setting. Will be back 👌
Very nice ambiance. Wide selection if flavors, comfortable seating. Not too big but seats approx 20 people
This is my favorite coffee place in Katy. Service is always great. This is the only place Im aware of that has higher end Hawaiian Kona varieties for pour over, if you feel like treating yourself. But the basic house Kona is great too.
I love the cofee here, but I do not like their service. I come this location almost the whole week to work and study. Although this location is not that much busy like Starbuck, the staff barely say thank you or sorry, even when they made me a wrong order. I feel that their attitude is really unrespectful with a customer. Maybe the owner should be here more frequently to observe their staff and have a plan for a customer service traning. Really want to support local business, but I will looking for another coffee shop around Cinco Ranch.
Staff was friendly ! Always greetings me in the afternoons !🙌 Good team and crew all around !
From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed and greeted by kind-hearted individuals. This place rocks! The coffee is smooth, silky and melt in your mouth delicious. Do not skip the breakfast sandwiches. The sausage and cheese on a croissant is heavenly. Free wifi, tables spread out, comfy couches welcoming you to stay a while. Loved our morning here with the kids. Definitely going to become a regular. #coffeewithlove
The ambiance makes you feel like in Hawaii and not in Katy.My kids begs me for the food and ice cream here.
Cozy place for spending time with friends
Always great coffee, excellent service and lots of tasty food options. Sandwiches, gelato and creative drinks that are served quickly and don’t disappoint. This is a great little shop with some real character and charm. Some of the best espresso for miles!
Well spaced inside, coffee and service were very good. And they have gelato.
I really do enjoy coming here to get work done, but they recently made changes to their WiFi that makes it impossible for me to connect to my work VPN and email. Hopefully thisll be fixed soon, otherwise Ill be forced to find somewhere else.
Love the atmosphere! The plants are so lovely!
Service very good very clean
My family and I love their coffee, smoothies, and location.
I really liked this place... its a one stop shop... they have a little bit of everything: coffee, gelato, fresh baked goods, breakfast items, smoothies, sandwiches, desserts, etc.... I especially loved their freshly made biscotti! Wow! What a treat!
Lovely cofee shop. Extra points for decor and live plants.
My favorite local coffee shop. Trendy decor, spacious seating, and great drinks and snacks! Relaxed place for a mellow conversation about life or for a couple of hours of deep work/reading.
Our lattes are consistently great and the service is super friendly!
Huge, comfortable, wide open space with a lot of seating and study spaces. Comfy couches and lounge areas too. Window into their own roasting area is great, love that they roast their own beans, definitely a marker of quality.Flat white I ordered was good, latte art was actually very good (if you care about that kind of stuff). Many options on the menu, including food options.
Nice design and high quality drinks. I have spent lot of time there to work on my laptop and have a coffee or smoothie. Additionally they have friendly staff and the owner is a nice guy. Its a nice place to date and also work or hangout plus there are lots of parking spots and there are many seats inside.
Perfect place for a cup of coffee and reminders of HawaiiMakes you wana go back to the islands
The place is clean and spacious. The staff is friendly. The atmosphere is great, pretty laid back. Their coffee is delicious! They have plant milks and they also have a couple vegan treats, so theres a little bit for everyone. Definitely coming back!
Loved this coffee shop!Amazing coffee. Relaxed atmosphere. Quick service. This place would definitely be a great place to study at. Just wish they had one in Sugar Land. Lots of space for studying or just casually having a coffee with friends. They have great coffee selections and light snacks/desserts. They also have some gelato. I got the plain hot latte which was smooth and creamy. The Kona coffee itself is amazing. The interior is clean and well maintained. Lots of natural light coming in from the windows for studying or reading.
Very friendly place, great customer service 👍 got my order with the quickness 👌🏽🙏🏾💯
Offering a very large dining area and some outdoor seating, this cafe certainly has more of a stay awhile feel than its competitors. Their coffee is always fantastic; the espresso strong, yet subtle. You cant go wrong with any of their bakery items either- especially the carrot cake or homemade scones.
You can get better coffee and more options at Starbucks for the same price. Like most coffee places, they charge extra for milk substitutes ($.50), but they have a great selection of sandwiches and cakes to choose from. Theyre more sustainable than other places (they serve using plates and mugs unless you get an iced coffee) and the servers are very kind and polite. The place is very spacious and open and has a coffee shop kind of vibe, which is nice.
I’m always looking for a good cup of coffee and Kona Haven Coffee has it. The prepaid a very good latte with a lot of foam. I lake my latte to taste as coffee and here I find that. Also the food is really good and the staff is always very nice.
Great coffee and environment both for getting some work done and for just sitting and relaxing. One thing to note... Parking can be a bit of a challenge due to the car shop next door.
Love this place and wish I lived closer. I always get the musubi, the salmon and spam ones are my favorite. I really like their dark roast pour overs.
Great coffee and atmosphere!
Kona coffee is amazing. The environment is very relaxing and inviting.. very modern chic with natural hints thrown in.. now the coffee is amazing.. starbucks wishes they tasted this good.. very bold smooth flavor.. everything you could ask for.. staff is very inviting and the uniforms are great. If you havent tried it.. youre totally missing out!!Also need a space to work.. lots of space to sit with a computer and get youre stuff done..And the hint of how they bag their coffee gives you an invite to see how they work..I could go on and on.. but you wont know until you go.. !!
I went here on a Sunday, around 8:30, and the wait wasnt bad at all! I came here for the first time, and am in love with this neat little spot! Im from Austin, which has a pretty competitive coffee scene, and I would say Kona Haven is worth the trip! The coffee is smooth, and when in a latte slightly sweetened with macadamia nut syrup (not as sweet as it sounds), the end result is a delicious cup to start your day off right. The eats are delicious as well! I had the Shaggy Dog, which is rice, shrimp tempura, teriyaki, and crab meat- everything tested fresh and flavorful! I love that they didnt cheap out with imitation crab meat, as the real crab adds a better taste and texture. Also, they roast their coffee beans on site! Ive only been to a handful of places that do this, and theres a huge taste difference in freshly roasted beans, and beans that have been pre-roasted/ground, and sitting on a shelf for months. The staff was also very nice, and even told me which items were their personal favorites on the menu.10/10, will make this my new coffee place when Im in this neck of the woods again!I got 2 bags of coffee beans to tide me over until Im back 😉Do yourself a favor, and check them out!
I am so glad that Cinco Ranch finally has a nice coffee shop! I’ve tried a variety of their drinks - lattes, mochas, iced coffee, cold brew, etc and all have been great quality. I especially love the breve. They also have a variety of food that looks delicious. The environment is so peaceful and open, great for meeting up with friends or studying. I also appreciate how the staff brings out the drinks to you. My parents live here and I make a point to stop by every time I’m in town! Wishing y’all success in your business!
Great coffee and relaxing place to chill and get some work done.
I love this place! Better than Starbucks for sure so no need to go there anymore! Kona Haven is yummy and much better quality coffee beans! Spread the word. This place rocks! Pam Dar Registered Nurse
The green tea latte here is to die for. So smooth and amazing. Staff was awesome with explaining the menu and helping guide us based on our preferences. Cool vibes, great service, awesome drinks. Plenty of seating.
The coffee was good. But being there makes me feel that it was just an open room. They must make the customers feel more privacy.. there a lot of ways to improve or remodel and make.. in another words I wouldnt suggest it to go for reading...
I didnt think we would ever get a great coffee shop in Katy/Cinco Ranch and now I have a favorite. This place does everything you would expect of a great coffee shop and they offer multiple brew methods, espresso, pour over, etc.And they use Kona coffee for everything, the best I could tell.Lastly, Im interested to understand the inspiration of the ship because you can tell they have spent time in Hawaii - they serve some traditional Hawaiian foods that I dont ever see except when I am on a Hawaiian island
I love this plave. I wish it was closer, if it was Id stop there every morning. We tried sandwiches which were great as well as the cold brew. We havent had anything we didnt like.
Excellent coffee ☕
Coffee is not bad but you have to allocate enough time to get it. This is NOT the place to go if you are in a hurry. The atmosphere is very laid back and I would say it’s more of a restaurant or sandwich shop than a coffee shop. I have been several times and each time I regret it because it takes so long to get a drink. I think I would enjoy it more if I just planned to stay and drink it there. Again the coffee isn’t bad. It just takes a while to get one.
Clean and very relaxing place to sit and decompress. Sat comfortably and read a book with my wife. Friendly staff but the prices seem just a smidge high, will definitely be spending more downtime here.
I have kept driving by and today I finally went in. This is a most lovely coffee shop. Coffee (freshly roasted and not burnt) is phenomenal, tea delicious and oh my, the cheesecake is outstanding. Lovely staff, and very clean. Spacious, and comfortable. We will definitely be coming back. This was a most lovely afternoon break.
I was blessed to have spent a year in Seattle and try so many different roasters etc. Coming back to Katy I can definitely say that this coffee shop is probably the only one that has a good set of beans. The area is saturated with Starbucks but this shop is a must if you are in the area! Imagine waking up to the comforting smell of freshly roasted coffee-- that is Kona. Choose from a variety of beans and take a bag home if you really liked it. The kona is the original and stands as my go to beverage. The matcha latte is so smooth and not too sweet which I love. I really wish there were more coffee shops like Kona in Katy but until then please try this place out-- you will not be disappointed!
Really good coffee! Tried the cupcakes and the gelato...excellent! The ladies making the coffee are exceptional...Highly recommend this place
