We chose the Katy location for our two daughters’ open water training and were very pleased. Carl and Cory were very knowledgeable and provided great customer service. Having been a certified diver since 1986, I’ve seen many different operations and these guys are definitely first class. Thanks for all you did for our girls!

This is an absolutely wonderful place. I just got done with the 3 week Open Water certification program and could not be more pleased with the way the course was conducted or the people conducting it.Sheila could not be more fantastic at what she does. Her sweet calming demeanor makes you feel comfortable asking questions or expressing any concerns, and whats more, she makes absolutely certain that your questions are answered and concerns addressed to make even the most nervous people feel safe and comfortable in the water. You can tell she really has a passion for scuba diving and that positive energy can really be felt at all times throughout the course. I am very grateful for her influence on my first scuba experiences and hold an enormous amount of respect for her and in tern Sea Sports Scuba & Swim.The other staff, all of the assistants and divers that helped us out during the open water certification weekend, were wonderful as well. They were very patient and obviously knew what they were doing. It was comforting to be surrounded by so many people that really knew their stuff.If I could give this place more than 5 stars I would. Well worth the money and a very rewarding and enjoyable experience. I would highly recommend it to anyone!

I was in the March 2013 class and absolutely loved it! I had always wanted to become a certified SCUBA diver and Sea Sports SCUBA helped me realize that goal. Sheila is an amazing instructor and she makes sure you are comfortable in the gear and the water. Thank you to our dive masters Bryan and John! They have such great stories and were always there to answer questions or provide assistance. The classroom sessions were informative and interesting. Class sizes are small enough for very personal attention. For our open water sessions we camped at the Blue Lagoon in Huntsville and I had such a great time! Thank you to everyone who came out and cooked the food, helped with the class, and shared their stories and expertise! Not only am I now a certified diver, I have tons of great new friends to dive with!I have been in to the shop quite a few times now, and Tom and Sheila are both extremely helpfel with the purchase of gear. I just completed my scuba open water certification yesterday (6/2/2013) with Sheila from Sea Sports Scuba Katy. It was a great experience and I have nothing but good things to say about the Katy store and about Sheila. First, let me mention that I completed U.S. Navy scuba school in the late 1970s so I know quality training. Last year I did some business with another Houston dive store but was not satisfied with their customer service. I found Sheila and the Katy store and decided to give them a try. I was made to feel welcome and given great attention when I first walked in to the store. I liked Sheilas customer service and friendly personality so I signed up for her certification class in preparation for a Sept Bahamas vacation. Sheila knows her stuff having been a practicing certified diver since 1976. I was impressed by how thorough and detailed the instruction was. Nothing was rushed through and she made sure everyone knew that sections information before moving on. The pool sessions, and then the open water sessions were SAFE, SAFE, SAFE. There were always multiple dive masters presents to watch all of the students to make sure no one made a mistake. The final weekend trip to Blue Lagoon Lake in Huntsville, TX for our four required open water swims was a lot of fun. Sheila, her dive masters, and former students were very welcoming to everyone. I felt like I was with a bunch of old friends and not a new guy with a bunch of strangers. In addition to all of that, Sheila helped me pick out and purchase all of my equipment. I was thrilled with the performance and quality of the gear selected. I plan on staying active with this store, with Sheila as my dive guru and with this group. I believe that anyone looking for a quality store with a dedicated, knowledgeable staff to provide great training and assistance need look no further than Sea Sports Scuba Katy.

Sea Sports Scuba Katy is a great location for SSI training. The staff there were very understanding and flexible when working around my schedule to complete the Open Water Diver certification. I’m extremely grateful of the patience from the Dive instructor/masters during the open water evaluation. This made me a lot more comfortable when performing the required under water exercises.I would definitely refer friends and family to Sea Sports Scuba & Swim for any of their dive gear or training needs.Special thanks to Sheila Shelton!

Ive been on numerous dive trips with Sea Sports Scuba and have always found them well organized and as advertised. My latest trip was with Tracy Vercher from the Katy store and was no different. Tracy was great. A trip leader should be there to make sure things go smoothly and as planned but shouldnt be a distraction and try to always be leading your trip. This was my first trip with Tracy and he was just right. I would have no hesitation going on another trip with him and weve already discussed a trip we would both like to go on. We stayed at the Flamingo Hotel at Flamingo Beach, Costa Rica and dived with Aqua Center diving. The hotel was very nice with large rooms (be sure and get a room with a patio) and the staff was very friendly. Aqua Dive Center picked us up at the hotel and we drove for about 5 minutes to their office. There was no marina or dock so we walked a hundred yards to the beach and were picked up by a motor boat that took us to the nearby dive boat. It may sound like an ordeal but it really wasnt. We dove at the Catalina Islands which are inhospitable volcanic sea mount islands about 20 minutes away. The waves were about 3-4 feet and there is always a current, but not too strong. This is not a Caribbean Reef dive. There is no coral reef only lots of rock but I was very surprised at the sea life we saw. Turtles, spotted rays, urchins, moray eels (lots), and white tip sharks, just to name a few. I enjoyed the diving as it was a change from the typical coral reef dive. Everyone really enjoyed and commented on the extra activities we had scheduled during our week long stay. We went zip lining along the tree canopy one afternoon and on a jungle trip down a crocodile infested river on another afternoon. I hope Sea Sports Travel reads this review and starts to schedule more trips like this. PROS: very nice hotel, good diving and the fun side trips. CONS: Isolation, this is not a tourist or dive mecca. There are 2 small open air restaurants (both very good), a small store, pharmacy, and souvenir shop within walking distance. THATS IT. If you want to do anything else you have to drive several hours and a lot of the roads are not very good.

My 12 year old son took the certification course there and loved it. The dive masters have all been really great. He has really enjoyed going on a bunch of local dives around Texas. I trust them to take my son diving and teach him the fundamentals, so when we are ready to go dive the wonders of the world he will be ready. I would like to give a special thanks to Bart who really goes above and beyond!

Wonderful experience! I received my Open Water Diving cert on August 25th. Sheila Shelton is an amazing instructor with so much knowledge and patience. I couldnt be any happier than I am with the service, equipment and personnel at this or any other Sea Sports Scuba location!I am looking very forward to my next classes in September and many dive trips with everyone in the near future. I met some amazing people and made some great friends.Thank you Sheila!!!

Sea Sports is a great place to get your open Water Diving Cert Instruction. The equipment was in good shape, the facility up to date and clean. Best of all was our instructor Miss Sheila, as well as her helpers Bryan and Jim. They all were highly attentive and projected a calm enviroment which helped me immensely in achieving my goal of becoming certified.

I walked in on a whim and I was instantly obsessed with the sport. Within a few hours, I returned with my wife, met with our instructor Chris (Greising) and a few weeks later we were certified.Chris is an outstanding instructor, very knowledgeable, and a genuinely nice guy. We cannot say enough good things about him and his professionalism. My wife and I are very appreciative of the support he provided after the sale, too!If anybody out there is considering this as a hobby, this is a good place to go. No high pressure sales, just a sincere concern for your enjoyment and he wants you to feel comfortable with your experience.Definitely a hobby worth pursuing!

I cannot say enough good things about my dive instructor Chris at sea sports scuba With all my mental road blockslearning to dive he has been beyond helpful with getting me past them. I still have one more issue to become comfortable doing under water (mask clearing).All in all my wifes and my experience at sea sports scuba has been great.

Horrible experience! This place is a RIP OFF!The INSTRUCTORS ARE RUDE TO KIDS & the management is heedless to the complaints.The kids dont learn to swim.My 4 year old had a fear of water, which I I formed the management before enrolling him. I was assured he would do okay and they had handled kids like that in the past.I noticed the classes werent helping him learn to swim. There was a new instructor each time unlike what was told to me at the time of enrollment.I enrolled my child for a private lesson because I felt he would get personal attention .In the private lesson, the instructor Jason was rude to my son & made him sit out the pool because he was crying & told him to cry it out while he was crying, which made my son more upset. When I intervened after 10 minutes, the instructor refused to resume the lesson until my son stopped crying.I couldnt have my child cry more than he already had and left after informing the management. The next day when I informed the manager Evelyn of the situation, she said it was their policy to give timeouts. I told her it was unfair to have him sit by the pool for 15 minutes and possibly more in a private lesson.I told her that I didnt agree with their style of teaching and wouldnt like for both my kids to continue if the service promised to me wasnt provided. She refused to refund my money for the kids group lessons.I was never informed of the no refund policy at the time of enrollment.They have no makeups for monthly plans and keep pushing for the season plan which many parents told me makes them stuck with the bad service.Also they refuse to give your kids a class if you arrive late.

I went in for a refresher before my next dive trip to Belize. Tracy was great. He answered all of my questions and gave an update of things that had changed since I was first certified. I would recommend Sea Sports Scuba!

I just finished the Open Water Certification with Shelia S and it was a blast. The class time was short but through. The pool dives were comfortable and informative, so when I went to the open water session, I was very comfortable about my skill level and we had a great time. Thank you to Jon and Byran for helping as assistant instructors and everyone that participated and helped organize, cook the food, and made this open water weekend an absolute blast. I cant wait to continue exploring the underwater world and continue making new friends.

I love this place and Sheila is the best!!! We have been going to sea sports since 2001 when we first certified. We met Sheila when my daughter - now 19 - was 8 and wanted to do bubble makers. Since that time, Sheila has gotten me through Rescue, which I was terrifed of, has gotten both my husband and I to Master Diver certification and is about to teach my 10 year old son to dive in July. I would not trust anyone else but her with my child and something so important as how to dive and do it safely. Her demeanor, patience, and teaching style are inspiring.

We originally started our dive experience in Pittsburgh, PA. When my husbands job transferred us we werent sure if we would be able to pick up where we left off, or if we would have to start from the beginning. One call to Sheila cured us of our worries. She worked our family in on a weekend to review and make sure we were appropriate with all our skills, finished my sons last confined pool dive, and set us up on the schedule for open water. We had the absolute best time! The whole crew could not have been nicer or more patient and friendly. We are now certified and can honestly say that our only regret is that we did not get to start the course with Sheila and the gang from the very beginning!

Tom and Sheila are great. They do an excellent job from getting you properly outfitted to routine maintenance. For personal attention in an impersonal world...this is the dive shop to go to!

I was just in the March class and had a blast!! I learned so much and the instructors are great. They are patient and extremely knowledgeable. I feel comfortable with the skills I learned and am totally ready to dive!! I think my favorite part about the class is that you truly feel welcome and they want to see you again. They want to go on dives with you in the future. So, its not just a class but the warm welcome of new diving friends who are ready for adventure. I HIGHLY recommend the Sea Sport Scuba on Mason Road. It was the entire package and worth every penny.

Had been wanting to get SCUBA Certified for a while and finally took the plunge.I went to Sea Sports in Katy and it was a great choice. Chris (Greising) is a terrific instructor. Chris is very thorough and patient. Small classes allowed for individual training time and focus on all the skills you need to become a Diver, for safe and fun diving, not just certified. My wife and I had an incredible experience going through our SCUBA dive training. We just got certified Sept. 15th 2013. I am naturally a fish in the water, so there were no nerves involved, but my wife, on the other hand was very nervous and excited. Sheila, our dive instructor, made us feel safe and comfortable since the minute we met her. My wife soon realized there was never a reason to be nervous bc the book and classes answer your questions of safety and expectation, and the practice in the pool with your buddy and Sheila and another instructor (Rodney) helped you practice the safety aspect of diving unto its redundancy-so it all became second nature. The open water diving test was just our first taste of how great recreational diving can be, and we look forward to diving with them again soon!

My husband and I have been wanting to get Scuba certified for a while and we finally signed up at Sea Sports Scuba in Katy. We took the class that was 2 weekends and our instructor was Chris Greising. He was an amazing instructor! He made sure we understood everything while having fun and he was very patient. In our class we had 4 people (they allow up to 6) and having a small class gave us much better training. I had trouble with some of the mask clearing skills and got to practice as much as I needed to get comfortable with it. Jeff Weatherford was our assistant instructor and was a very big help as well. Thank you again Chris and Jeff!! Both of you have made us very confident divers!

Perfect Dive trip ! The Dive Master, Tracy V. is an expert diver, and a great dive mentor. During the 5 day Costa Rica trip, he had helpful pointers for both beginner, and expert divers on buoyancy control, breathing, dealing with currents, etc. The trip was well planned, with good logistics, and 2 great afternoon trips; one ziplining, and one riverboat tour with great wildlife. I will definitely sign up for the next trip with SeaSports, and Tracy V.

I just completed my open water diver certification with Shiela Shelton at Sea Sports Scuba in Katy and I can tell you that I was thrilled with the course. It was thoroughly and professionally taught with extreme attention toward making each individual a knowledgeable, safe and comfortable new diver. Shiela had excellent control over all in water situations and the cast of support dive staff that helped insure our safety and comfort when diving were all outstanding people. I completed the Open Water, Nitrox, and Advanced Open Water certifications at the Katy store. As an instructor Sheila was fantastic as were the divemasters working with her. Their knowledge, attention to detail, patience, and willingness to provide individual attention to ensure each skill was accomplised made the learning process a very relaxed experience.As an equipment customer I find that Tom and the sales personnel will take the time to help me find exactly what I need without any sales pressure. I got my open water cert here with Sheila. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful making everything from picking the right equipment to learning to use it as easy and fun as possible.

I am new to diving so I can not speak from experience with other dive shops but I must say I am very happy I did my open water with Seasports. To be exact, I am very pleased with the dive instructor that did my class. I ended up doing a private class with Chris Greising and I have no regrets. Chris teaches the class in a way that makes it fun, safe and informative. He is very thorough and makes sure his students fully understand every aspect of the class. After receiving my open water I went back to Chris for my Nitrox certification. Once again, he did an outstanding job teaching this class. He made sure I completely understand the value of Nitrox as well as the risk of Nitrox. Chris takes the time to answer any question you may have and does it with a smile on his face.If you are looking to start your journey into SCUBA I highly recommend SeaSports Scuba and Chris Greising.

After just completing SSI Open Water Dive certification, I just want to say thank you to Sheila, Lacy, Jay, Chris and Joanne for their time, efforts and cooking this past weekend. Under Sheilas instruction the team did a great job getting us ready for our first grand scuba adventure. We met some terrific new people in Ivan, George (safe travels/diving in Australia...), future Eagle Scout Ross and his dad, and Andrew (congratulations on your upcoming nuptuals and new job/life in Boston...). The class was small, providing lots of one-on-one trainingEverything about the classes, pool sessions and lake check-outs was first rate, though the Lagoon could have been alittle warmer! I am pleased we did certification/training properly...a business associate just got back from Cozumel/Cancun and got scared in one of those local two-mai-tai-beginner-diver trips and could not proceed with the dives. Train/certify the proper way, especially if you have an upcoming adventure on the books...that way you wont miss out on any fun! It was on the second day at the bottom of the Blue Lagoon that I realized, I can do this!Sea Sports Scuba has a nice little shop in Katy for all your local scuba needs. Go by and see Bart, Sheila and the rest of the gang...they will gladly welcome you to their family!
