A successful trip to be fitted with a Townie bike. The staff at the bike shop are tremendously helpful.

Great customer service from the moment you enter the store. Mask required thank you. We were looking for trail poles and were immediately directed. A short while later a rep checked on us. He shared his knowledge and expertise with charm and ease. These folks should run the world with their great but gentle efficiency.

The availability of items during a holiday sale are very limited to none. There was one person at the location who actually took time to talk about the products and didnt rush to dismiss. Great location.

I ordered and expected a new, unused tent online from REI and received the correct item number, but the item I received has been used by a previous customer already. The evidence for this is pine pitch on the tents footprint, dirty paper towels inside, and dirt & moss inside the tent. See attached photos. I warn any customer to be extremely careful regarding REIs quality control. This tent and its soiled things in it could have any sort of pathogens on it like COVID-19 making me afraid for my health. I will be submitting my complaint to REI as well and will update this review as new information comes in. :(

Picked up some new Trail Runners (very helpful staff), and some other nice finds (socks/shirts).

Alison and the rest of the REI staff were so, so, so helpful when I realized I had asked for the wrong Oregon forest parking pass, Alison went above and beyond to not make a big deal out of my error and did her best to see if there was anything that could be done to void my mistake. She even offered to buy the pass that I mistakenly asked for, saying she needed a new one anyways. This made my night! Super awesome customer service!!

Love the staff and the gear. Camping biking backpacking, rock climbing... This is a great place to shop... You can also go to REI.com and pre-shop for your items before you come into the store to make sure theyre available.

This store is full of wonderful items to make your life easier and better. I, for one, went there to purchase HOKA shoes for my tired feet. OMG! Game changer! These shoes stabilize, have arch supports and are cushioned. Its like walking on a cloud.

I could spend all day and every penny in this store. The workers there really know their stuff and will spend time with you making sure you get just the right equipment for whatever adventures you have planned. And when you spend $20 to become a member you can return any items you buy for up to a year. They have something called a garage sale where you can buy returned goods for a lot cheaper than buying new.

We had a wonderful experience here today. Signed up for a membership since we are planning on hiking a lot more this year. Katie was fantastic! So friendly and knowledgeable in the shoes department. Gave us all the pros and cons and things to think about when purchasing hiking boots.

I love REI. This last visit was great, I didnt need any help but the employees were all still friendly and attentive. They made a point to make it known that they were available to help if needed, but they didnt hover. Anyway, Rei is great. Go there.

Overpriced chi-chi gear. Staff is friendly and helpful, but these days catering almost exclusively to bicyclists and climbers, little to no water sport related equipment.

Underwhelming and high prices. I should have just shopped online and saved myself.

REI, can anything really be added to the awesome service and products. If your new to out door adventures? You have to make this REI your stop or any REI. They will set you up on the rigt direction and gear you will need.

It is a good idea to be a member. Even if you dont shop very often. Saves money. I can find what I need there for all my backpacking.

Horrible experience checking out of this REI today. I bought 260 bux worth of gear and Micheala was trying to sell me the dividends program. I said I wasn’t interested then she proceeded to drone on about the benefits and why I should sign up for another few mins. I politely told her no again. She still kept going on about the program. You shouldn’t have to say no to someone three times. Won’t be shopping here again. Poor customer service skills and poor sales skills.

Went to see labor day sales, second time visiting this REI. The sales people try to get you to sign up for membership almost immediately, despite my not going to their store often.Saw two items on sale to purchase. Neither one rang up correctly on their computer. I managed to catch one of the items, but not the other, and was overcharged. Considering I came from out of town, I wasnt going back.Ill be avoiding purchasing anything else from REI from now on.

Every single time I come here I receive above and beyond customer service. I know how hard it can be to work retail, especially in a pandemic, but the employees here are doing fantastic. I not only received help finding a hiking backpack carrier for my toddler, but the gentleman actually showed me how to use every feature. When I came in again to get hiking boots with my husband, the woman working was extremely knowledgeable and helpful on each pair we considered. They didnt have my size for one brand, unfortunately, but she showed me a comparable brand that was so comfortable.Ill be a regular customer.

The staff here is friendly, and not in your face. I dont usually need help but whenever I do, they are helpful. Prices tend to be pretty high. I justify the cost with quality and their return policy. An area of improvement I would suggest is having the weight of each item on the tag. (Not really in the scope of REI, I know).

The sale items are cheap but realistically you get what you pay for and this store is loaded with quality. Customer service is actually pretty damn good. And I used to work at Nordstroms so I have high expectations

I love this store, but youre resistance to open is extremely frustrating. You have a location open in Seattle... Please open your doors! For some reason REI thinks keeping its doors closed makes it better and more righteous than its competitors. No its just infuriating your loyal customers and its starting to make me look elsewhere.

Talked to a girl on the phone asking a question and she wasn’t the nicest... I go here often for things.

Normally I dont rate places just based on one experience,but my mom and I wanted to buy a pair of shoes. Already knew what size and pair we wanted,but the staff member was helping one girl for a solid 20 minutes and barely even looked at us. Didnt acknowledge us or ask us if we wanted help. Ended up leaving a comment to customer service as well.

A good store, but not very big (for REI). They carry lots of apparel, camping gear, and bikes. Couple kayaks on display.

I have loved this place for over a quarter of a century, but I have to say it really broke my heart that youre Stonehenge line of waterproof down jackets is only available up to XL, and because they are sized small, I was unable to purchase one as a gift. I understand your typical clientele will be slimmer than the average person in society and that you might not have a larger size in the store, but I sure would have liked to have seen an XXL on the website at least.

Everyone was super nice and helpful. They helped me find exactly what I needed and referred me elsewhere for what they didnt.

Excellent outdoor store with great displays!

This REI location has the worst employee knowledge I’ve ever been to. I’ve emailed the general manager several times regarding an issue in which I received no reply. In my opinion the employees are there to just ring you up because product knowledge is not in their vocabulary.

I could go on and on about how much I love REI! I have had nothing but pleasant experiences there. I have only had a few instances where I wasn’t 100% satisfied with something I purchased. In those cases I took advantage of their very lenient return policy with relative ease.

I love this place. They are all about you getting outdoors and having fun, however you do that. Their prices are more expensive than people want, having bought a fair number of their products I can say its a reflection of the quality of the products, and its worth what you pay. The staff are super friendly and helpful, and if they dont know about something someone else does and they will get them to help. I really love the classes they offer. The hiking with your dog one is a great class if you wanna bring them along camping or hiking!

Really disappointed with this company. Ive been a member for years and have always been happy with my experience. But lately I feel like theyre getting away from their core values of taking care of their customers. Ive had 2 bad experiences in the last couple months and an easy solution instead resulted in managers telling me, theres nothing we can do to help you. They wouldnt even except a gift card the last time I was there because the computer wouldnt scan it. I used it online and picked up the item from the store. So I had to make 2 trips and waste a ton of time. How is it that an online website can provide better customer service than a person? Really disappointed.

REI can be more expensive than buying online. However, when you need something to work right, ie a tent or a backpack, or footwear, this is where you want to go. REI and the Salem Summit store are the two best outdoor stores in Salem. You wont go wrong with either one.

Wont accept or give cash. This discriminates against lower income and cash only families. I was also due a cash refund. Instead provided a merchandise card

Not one of the larger REI stores. But they still have a great selection, and awesome customer service. Super friendly, knowledgeable, and not at all pushy. I always have a good experience here.

REI has good prices and, if youre a member, you receive an annual dividend check for roughly 10% of what you spent on full price items during the calendar year. They have a great return policy and this particular store has a good selection. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. This store is a great option for quality outdoor gear.

I want to acknowledge Chris who works in the cycling section. He took a great deal of time and effort in getting my mountain bike repaired. He even went to bat for me with the front fork manufacturer to convince them to honor a warranty that was barely expired. I have had great service and top notch expertise from the Keizer REI in maintaining my road and mountain bike. Highest recommendation to consult them for your needs.

Went for one item, grabbed one item and went to register, no line, what should have been a less than 1 minute transaction turned into a 10 minute “are you sure you don’t want our card! You get reward points!! But you don’t understand!”.......I’m ordering through moosejaw online from now on. REI is a credit card company more than it is an outdoor store....Jesus Christ.

Please understand, dear outdoor equipment retail store, that I am exponentially less inclined to spend money at your establishment if no one who works there can be bothered to acknowledge my existence. I know that I am more than capable of asking for help if I really need it, but not a single word was said in 40+ minutes of browsing for different items. seriously though thats one of the first tenets of customer service.I really do enjoy that just about anything you could ever want can be found here - therefore I give two stars for such an abundance of wildly overpriced merchandise that can be purchased elsewhere for a more reasonable cost. And Im not coming back. (I know, good riddance, right?!)

The smallest REI Ive been to, but its my local spot, and they have anything youd expect at a REI. The outerwear & clothing sections are definitely pared down from larger locations. But the store is clean, the staff is friendly & helpful, and its easy to get to.

Bought an expensive North Face jacket here and it tore a massive hole in it on a tree branch my third day wearing it. REI manager said they could do nothing about it because it was an accident and directed me to the North Face Website.My complaint is that I bought the jacket because of it’s “tough” outer material as I tend to ski in trees often and I felt the quality was not up to my specifications. I also bought because of the “REI return policy”.Maybe it was my fault for skiing in the trees but the Jacket should preform in the elements it was made for.The old REI would have gladly taken it back. Next time I’ll just buy online as the return policy seems to be the same as anywhere now.

I went here because everyone says how wonderful they are, but I have now gone to this particular location twice. BOTH times I walked through this store for over 30 minutes and not a single employee so much as acknowledged me. HORRIBLE service. Not even a hello. I worked retail management for 15 years and I would have NEVER wanted a patron to experience what I have at this store. I dont care what anyone says I will NOT go back nor will I recommend it to anyone I know.

I have been a member since the late 80s.REI has always been very good to me.If you are a member, then you get appx. 10% of what you spend on non-sale items back in dividends. The dividends are issued in March.

Bobbi (I think I spelled that right) was absolutely AMAZING helping me purchase a Columbia snowboarding jacket today! I was shopping online and the website was out of stock, but I have a friend who lives near Salem who offered to pick up it up for me since the site showed this store had it. From North Carolina over the phone, I was able to not only use my dividend, but also have my friend pick up the jacket and ship it for me. The staff held onto the jacket until my friend arrived, which they certainly didn’t have to do, and pickup went very smoothly. I hope to one day visit this REI in person. Bobbi and her customer service were exceptional. Thank you so much!

Awesome products and great store, if your not black! I honestly wanted to give them five stars because I found what I needed but all the constant following and watching my every move MADE ME FEEL SO UNCOMFORTABLE. I noticed the same employee following me around as if I was on the theft list. To make matters worst ..this is my first time in the state let alone the Damn store. People are still sad, I see, so let me say this ..I have a B.S. DEGREE & I WORK FOR THE STATE OF OREGON ..so I am far from Broke and THIEVERY! #blackchicksrock!

Tech at the bike shop was great. We reviewed the needs of my 25 year old bike. Ready for pickup the next day. He did say this was a quieter time of the year.

Smaller store with limited options. Not many displays so you need to research before going in to buy.

A first time Kayak buyer that didnt know anything about them. The staff were great with all the information they provided me. I was in the store many times before I actually settled on which Kayak I wanted.

Good selection but man the people who work here are rude. I’ve gone here twice and each time had bad experiences. Don’t bother asking where something is because they will look at you like you’re an idiot. Oh, and returning something that is broken? Don’t bother, even if you are a member. They won’t do it. Went as far as one of the employees basically saying I don’t understand how tents work. I’ve been tent camping for twenty years. Decided it’s worth it to just go to Portland where customer service is better or shop online from here on out.

I would normally give REI a five star rating, but the customer service at this store swings from one end of the spectrum to the other too often. Youre either being stalked or ignored. I still love REI, but their enthusiasm needs to be for their customers as well as the outdoors.

Joe helped me make everything right with my Garmin. I didnt have it set up correctly, and he fixed everything. I came home followed his instructions and now the world is right. He was great.

Cool if youre looking for specialty items but I wasnt super impressed with their selection. Disappointed in my first visit there and no salesperson in sight to ask any questions of. :/

Kevin (store manager) was excellent. He held some items for us so we could try on. Also sourced another if we wanted ti order in the future. Scott on the floor helped us with a down vest.

I really like this location. The staff seems especially helpful. Perhaps only because its not nearly as busy as the Portland locations. Either way, its a definite plus.

Bought a bike in January .its now april had tire cords blow out while bike was sitting in garage took tire to rei and was deemed defective as well as other bikes on hand sobwas given best tire out of ones pulled off other bikes because no tires or tubes where in stock ? On said bike they sell. Been 4 days and i had to call back store to find out what is going on ..no offer made to order different tire or no tubes .so at this point i dont know what to do selling bikes that you carry no tires or tubes for and no one else carries? Just wowDid get replacement tires for bike but still little sad they wont be carrying the 650 sizes on tires

Went in for shoes and stood in footwear for 15 mins without anyone trying to help before leaving. Never has this happen at any other REI before.Update: this REI carries a great amount of subpar gear.

Ive been trying to get hold of the store since 10am this morning. The automated system kept telling me Ive reach the after hour phone line. Now its 10:47am and I cant seem to get anybody to answer the phone. Smh
