This is simply a great local gem and a neighborhood treasure! I had driven by many times and finally decided to stop in for a late lunch on a Friday afternoon.At the butcher counter you can shop for a variety of quality meats for your bbq or meals. I spoke with the owner at length and he explained how he sources his meats only from local farms which he personally visits to ensure quality and the health of the animals. He sells simply the best cuts of meats available. He also supplies meats to many of the high-end restaurants in the area! They also have a selection of frozen meats like lamb and venisen depending on availabity and time of year. If you have a special request, just call them and he may be able to accommodate you.The cooked bbq plates are simply amazing as well. We ordered one beef rib plate and one bbq chicken plate which was served on a bed of pasta (they were sold out of the pork ribs). There is no seating inside and only a few tables outside on the side of the building as the food is served in takeaway boxes. So we brought our food home to eat.You simply have to visit Select Gourmet Foods yourself and I guarantee you wont be disappointed. Theres nothing fancy about the shop, expect quality cuts of meats and delicious bbqd chicken, pork and beef ribs.For the record I have no association or affiliation with SGF.

I visited Select Gourmet/Butcher Shop Café in the late morning of a sunny Saturday after reading the owner’s moving posts on the shop’s Facebook page. The owner just seems like someone who is kind and giving who just wants to help people in need. On top of that his shop stocks some great quality meats. The shop is very clean and they had some great looking fresh meats. At the time they were having a sale on wagyu cuts for $15.99 per lb and NY strip for $8.99 per lb, really great prices for great quality meat. I didn’t end up getting any fresh meats but got two orders of the beef ribs that were smoking outside the shop. The gentleman working the counter was very busy prepping ribs and taking orders for fresh meat and did a nice job taking care of everything. The smoked beef ribs were nicely seasoned and fall-off-the-bone tender. They also came with a side of a nice seashell pasta medley with bell peppers, carrots, tomatoes, and cheese that rounded out the meal. While I didn’t get to meet the owner, I’m glad I was able to support his business a little and also got some great food out of it. I hope to be back soon!
