Great place to work for, everyone is so kind and helpful and welling to help you be successful in whatever you decide to do in and outside of the store. Shopping here can be rough sometimes with some items being out of stock and shelves being empty, but it is understandable considering we are on an island after all.
The store isn’t that clean but I go for the deals with the club card. It’s one of two grocery stores on the island and you can usually find the newer products to be offered here. The workers don’t seem to want to be there at times. The self checkout can be difficult and usually is your option unless you want to stand in long lines from the one or two checkers. They have all these registers but literally hardly use them.
Not a good place to make a reservation. Called to confirm a week before our trip and 2 of the rooms were given away. Had to re-reserve 4 singles with a rollaway to accommodate the 5 of us. Charged $40 more than the website rate. No elevator. No A/C. The one room with a refrigerator had old food from the previous renters. The restaurant Anabelles was way overpriced for what you got with bad service. Never staying there again, and wouldnt recommend to anyone unless it was the last place available. Side note-good water pressure. Bed was comfortable.
Empty shelves. Not a local, but expecting butter to be stocked. Same for eggs, wiped clean. A surprising amount of empty shelves. Grocery manager step up.The store is clean and well kept.
Seems that a lot of the shelves are empty. Thinking it has something to do with covid. Staff that I have had questions for or needed help seemed very courteous and knowledgeable
Its a Safeway, so... Are they really any different from each other? I will say that the produce is not as good as A&P post Barge Day, but it is slightly more convenient. They have self check out, which I love. Starbucks is inside. Fresh doughnuts each day. The pharmacist, Hannah, is so amazing. Kind, professional, and straight forward. Caught a drug error and saved my life! Deserves a raise.
Perpetually under staffed, under stocked, and Dirty. Never enough checkout lines open and the worst self checkout machines in town. General groceries are okay but the deli food leaves alot to be desired.
Got in from Ogden Utah and needed some grocerys while our stay here and they had lots of selection good service love this store.
This is the local place for provisions. They had everything I needed. Lots of parking. It was my go- to place for food, toiletries, beer while I was in Ketchikan.
This store was the best place to work in Ketchikan. Shellys dedication to store staff and the awesome people I worked with in the Bakery as well as assisting customers ringing up purchases and learning new skills. Congratulations to Allan Olafson in the Deli...great store!
Nice grocery store. Clean . friendly staff.
Prices have increased weekly. Shelves empty in several areas and spotty in others. Deli very busy.
Its your standard Safeway. Good food and alright prices, usually steeper than Walmart but cheaper than Alaskan and Proud.
Disease inside and out. No point values. Scam size takeaways rioted away when you want to have ypu favorite items. Fake news saving.
Good customer service
Regular Safeway, has most of the normal things.
Whenever Im in Ketchikan I shop there...employees are always helpful and friendly.
Awesome staff, very courteous!
Empty shelves. Makes me worried. Why are your shelves empty? Even at 6am? Whats going on??
Nice clean store with a pretty wide selection. Found most of what we were looking for. :)
I went to self check out and the young man that was assisting people there was very polite and efficient
Clean store and friendly staff inside. I have parked my campervan in their parking lot with bay/oceanfront/mountain views overnight without issues. This is my 3rd season visiting and I have never had issues with overnight parking.
Love this store just wish the parking lot was more level, couple of the drainage spots are like a nasty pothole that can damage your car. Inside I love how easily it is to find what you need because it flows so smoothly. All the workers are amazing too if you need an extra hand in finding something, or see if they are out of stock.
Ji ji is always an amazing help
👍
I understand its alaska but if you wanted to by ingredients to make a beef stew here it would be close to a $40 dollar stew. Dont worry about eating too much red meat because one beef roast will set you back $60+ dollars
Been shopping here since it was seamart. Great local staff.
Out of too many items = poor management
Overall solid safeway, even compared to others in the lower 48.
They.to stock they shelf up was pretty bare at.the store
Ok deals on everyday grocery items, do not recomend shopping during busy hours
They need to keep the bathrooms cleaner..
Pricey but convenient
Fried chicken is awesome
Safeway always gives me 1st rate service
Cars/safeway, usually has the foods stuffs you need in for stock. The actual lanes are a bit small so social distancing can be fun.Checkout lanes are hit and miss, its much easier to self checkout
Nice store
Grateful Safeway is in Ketchikan. Great variety and the staff is awesome. Everyone is SO nice! Only reason I didnt give 5-stars is because they DESPERATELY need to update their bathrooms, they are old and gross, also I think a quick rehab or deep clean of the eat in area would push them to a 5 star :)
Nice employees, clean store. They are pricy and tend to run out of items fast and frequently unless you are an early bird shopper.
Was out of a lot of stuff
Reasonable prices, great quality, nice staff.
Amazing employes. Wonderful prices. Feels like a home away from home.
Had spoiled vegetables, very disappointing Safeway worry for this who have no other choice
Grocery-wise, this place has pretty much all the foodstuffs you need that you can use make anything decent.
Its ight..
Clean and well stocked
See Walmart review
Never enough check stands open
Shelves are ALWAYS EMPTY, how can a store make money if there is no product and on a little island, where things are limited anyway then to have a store that never has product.Employees dont care let alone the manager, nothing is labeled correctly. This has been going on for at least a couple years.
Good sales and food for many kinds of meals
Long lines, long wait.
Produce is good customer service 🐕🦺
The people here, they are just amazing, always able to put a smile on my face whenever I leave
Clean, most staff is friendly. Some of them are not so nice. Good selection, fair prices on most items. Good spot to get most basic needs for home.
Ketchikan s Safeway is great. Fresh produce. The butcher is courteous, professional and personal in accommodating customers. The bakery is devine. The deli is quick to order and delicious. The Starbucks is also courteous, professional and speedy. I am very pleased with our local Safeway. I highly recommend this shopping experience for more than just groceries.
Normal safeway experience for essential food.
Nice Safeway. Prices are too be expected. Waterfront.
Would be 5 stars, but they dont serve fresh cake doughnuts
Usually busy, but overall a good experience.
Just moved to Ketchikan, and I was shocked at how well-stocked this Safeway is. They have exotic merchandise like Mr. Brown coffee imported from Taiwan, and Hawaiian style poke that I cant even get at a Safeway in California. Overall an excellent shopping experience. The stores location next to the ocean is beautiful as well. Parking is plentiful, which is rare in Ketch.
I dont hate the place..
The employees are very rude and inappropriate twords customers. Especially the nighttime management!HATE IT...
Soup was absolutely disgusting. I will not buy the prepared food (salad/fruit/etc), it is out there before 9am. The new deli department manager is horrible. She looks at you and walks away. Does not even bother helping at all. She doesnt even know how to order. They finally have 90% of the coolers filled with meat and cheese but who knows how long that will last. They really need more than one person helping. They also need to be taught English, how to understand and speak it. I did not know I moved to a foreign country. 1/2 lb does not mean a 1 lb. The cashiers are really the only people that make this place. Some and very friendly.
Cause we have no other
Decent selection, decent prices. Watch the sales!
Worth it to download the app
Shelves are empty 50% of the time. However, great prices. Night employees are polite.
The deli section has good food, but the service is less than desirable. Waited in line for close to 10 minutes with another gentleman to have a sandwich made and never had so much as a glance thrown our way. It’s a shame because they have good product there.
My favorite store to shop when in town great people working always helpful
I love Carrs they always have what I want. The savings are always amazing.
After working here, youll fully understand why we call it slaveway. I do take the good from the bad. No one is perfect. Only God.
Live on an island we have a Alaskan and proud which has been here and is locally owned and is awesome and then we have Safeway which is also have been around awhile and has everything and then some which is great for us the community.
Greatest view from a grocery store ever. Beautiful view of Gravina and Pennock Islands. Nice to watch the float plans landing. Makes their lunch sitting pretty special.
Safeway Rewards has saved me hundreds of dollars. I will only shop here!!
Good prices but the shelves are always empty of the sale items
Nice people and good service, selection.
$5 friday. Amazing staff throughout every department, great lunch alcove with fire place and t.v. cozy and inviting. Pharmacy staff go above and beyond. Amazing deli selection. And convinently situated in the Plaza Mall, with much other worth while stores. Located right on main road bus stop, for better transit options.
Bare shelves is not the way to run a grocery store...things that sell well need to be kept in stock and replenished or get out of the business.
Great friendly and professional staff
All good, up here in Al. We call it Carrs!! Lol
They need to get their ordering under control. Its frustrating to see empty shelves in every isle.
The staff and management are doing a super good job caring for customer safety during this pandemic. Thank you!
Great Store, friendly staff, pretty good at keeping stuff restocked and a wide variety of items. Homemade Baked goods(Cakes, Bread, Pies & Specialty Items), Homemade Soups, Premade Sandwiches, Calzones, Pizza’s and so much more.Plus, Starbucks is inside of Safeway so you can do your shopping and have a Cuppa. It has Handicap Parking, instore handicap motorcarts and helpful staff.
Just another safeway. Love the five dollar Fridays.
Overall good, sticking can be an issue
Love that children get shopper Bananas for free! The bathrooms are so bad!!!!!! They need to be top to bottom cleaned by an entry level staff person and a management to make sure it gets done to a hygienic condition. They also should go through once an hour rotate to make sure no major accidents to customers and to keep standards high to the corporation of Safeway!Be weary of shopping very close to closing u might upset the assistant manager who told me I needed to start shopping before 11:52pm. I get off work at 11:45pm and I am putting my cash into the store! What happened to the customer is always right.
It is a safeway, good place to get groceries if you have membership. Lines are usually really fast.
I remember when this used to be Carrs. Its been consistently good for a long time.
They sell food :)
The manager is excellent and will bend over backwards to satisfya customer. He makes me smile!
Most of the shelves were empty.
Now this place is owned by the Mormons who believe that anyone who is not Caucasian is a second class citizen in which is evident in the way they take advantage of the Filipino work force in this Ktown store. They make them work long hours and only give them one day off in the week. On top of that when they are off they may be asked to come in, or when working, ask to work extended hours. This place takes advantage of a culture knowing that most Filipinos will not say NO to The Man. Also, although an individual can work there for years there may only be a small bump in pay every few years. When this store can boost moral and pay for my brown Brothers and Sisters then I may give a hire rating.
Great experience, the checkout lady even let me know that my coat still had a tag on it where I just bought it....then she took it off for me...like I said, great experience.
Great store to get regular deals, discounts on gas based on purchases and Friday specials. Love the hot sandwiches and breakfasts in the deli! Be sure to sign up for their online app to get their just for U deals. Also, sign up to link your Safeway card to your Alaska Airlines card to earn miles.
The people are always nice for a very busy store
Lots of organic even fast food organic! Got some Hawaiian Poke and sushi
Restrooms are the reason for not getting 5 stars
