I had an issue with my car stereo that I thought would cost me a couple of hundred dollars but Nicole and David (the manager) were awesome finding me a solution for $30! They were very friendly and helpful. Ive only had great experiences here with any one I have interacted with but this time it was a 5 star experience that saved me a lot of money.
I have been to the Totem lake Car Toys Twice ...The first time in early 2012....I had a new sound system, Blue Tooth, a GPS and a Back up Camera ....Installed in my 2005 Ford F-150....The whole instillation looks like it is just something that came new with the car...It is awesome...A lot of stuff and the instillation was flawless.....The cost was Great ....and it has all made a huge positive difference in how much I enjoy the Truck...A couple of weeks ago I had Blue Tooth installed in my older (01) Lexus LS....(It was made before Blue tooth was Popular) I was concerned that it would not be something just hung onto the care ....I did not want it to be Visable....It again was Perfect...No problems at allYes ...I do understand that sometimes things go wrong but Life is never Perfect and Maybe I am a really lucky guy ....When things go wrong for Me I am likely to write a whining review ....I am only writing a good review here ....Because the letters are so out of balance to what my experience has been
I needed a new CD player in my car. They helped me find the cheapest option for what I wanted, got me in that evening, and were done much earlier than promised. They explained features and options clearly without making me feel pressured. When I can afford to get my car detailed, Im definitely bringing it here!
I bought a new to me car 2014, with the clock not working due to the after market navigation system. What should have take an hour to fix with a new harness turned into a reinstall of the entire system due to the poor quality of the prior work. They took the time to do it right and were awesome about the entire thing. Totally happy about it and would go back to them for anything else I might need.
Staff was nice, but I had my car stereo tuned on and it sounded the same as when I left it with them. They charged me for a full hour, and told me it sounded much better. I feel a little taken and will not be returning there anytime soon.
Spoke to two different sales people and was told an auxiliary input for my phone could be installed in my car. After scheduling an appointment and bringing my car into the shop and paying for the service I was told they couldnt install the transmitter, because they were looking at options for the wrong model year.Now I have to wait three days for the money to be returned via my debit card. Most places dont charge you until after the service is completed to avoid this.
I would like to share,I have a (F-150 2016) I went to car toys very nerves that someone will be dismantling my New Truck. Well David the Store manager he understood my concerns He was really nice to work with NO pressure. He took his time to work with me that was really important. NOW the installer Travis was so awesome, He Listen to me and he knows is **stuff ** He made a custom subwoofer box that fit my needs. Let me tell you it is really the best sound. It sounds so perfect for the dynamics. It is really a clean sound with not much space to work with. Ford trucks do not offer room for subwoofer. (But he made it work and Very clean work.) The box looks like it was a part of the truck. You would never know that the truck had ever be touched.Thank youTravis and David

Paid almost $400 to get an alarm system put into my jeep and made an appointment to have it installed for 1pm. Get here at 1, they tell me itll be done by 4 so I patiently wait and shop at Ross next door until I come back and sit for the last 2 hours in the waiting room. Then go to use the bathroom and theres NO water. I ask what the deal is and the guy said they shut the water off in every store on the lot and itll be a few hours until its back on he then also added that theyre backed up and wont be done until 9pm or the next morning. He said he can get me a ride to work but he cant bring me back to work.. ?? (Which does me absolutely no good). He then finally says he will pay for me to take an uber home (half hour drive by the way, Capitol Hill). I finally agree to that and he says okay so you buy it and we will pay you back later. I wonder if theyre also going to pay for my boyfriends gas to bring me back here in the morning??? Or for my time Im missing at work tonight??
After a particularly poor experience at this location, I emailed Car Toys customer service to share with them what I had experienced. Their response was timely, and I was contacted by the manager of this particular store. They took care of me immediately and made right was previously wronged. Though the initial experience still leaves a bad taste, their recovery was exceptional and Im appreciative of that.
I wish there was an option for less than a single star.A single star is much more than this unprofessional company and their ridiculous salesman, Matt, deserves. Not only did he jerk me around when I came for specific items, but he made me feel extremely uncomfortable by telling me things like, Oh youre going to do that? Man, I feel bad for you.. You should definitely go this route.... What a horrible way to treat someone who has $2,000.00 to spend in your store! He tried to get me to buy the most expensive of every product that I told them I wanted to buy. I dont think I have ever had to tell my salesman Matt, No, I dont want that. I want ______ so many times.Once I finally got everything picked out, Matt got offended that I wanted to install it myself. Why would I want to pay $800.00+ in labor costs when I know how to do it? And to top it all off, he wouldnt even strip wiring that he cut in the store. He said, and I quote, I would have to borrow our installers tools, and we would have to charge you at least an hours worth of labor for that. An hours worth of labor is $100!!! Youve got to be kidding me!!!! Talk about trying to gouge your customer for every last penny!!!! WERE PEOPLE!!!! NOT PINATAS!!!!It was honestly the most painful experience I have ever had with an electronics company. Needless to say, I would NEVER recommend this company and most certainly would not wish such a painful buying experience upon ANYONE. EVER.
They give you what you dont need. The dont know how to listen to there customers and only care about money. Please no one go to this terrible business.
David and Logan were awesome, they went over and beyond to help me get what Ive always wanted. The install manager Gabe was also awesome... he customized my dash to put a touch screen with navigation and Bluetooth and he did such a great job it looks like its been there this whole time, and he actually listened to me and put everything in the way i wanted. Im so happy with the service and support and product. Go to this store if you want the rite job done, everyone there are friendly and the prices are great.

Went in to compare prices as the sign said best price guaranteed. Far from. $101 markup on the receiver head. I asked about the guarantee and was told that it includes installation. I said Id need a harness and it is as simple to install as plug and pay. He tried to tell me that online units are always refurbished, I showed him my phone the refurb price and the new price ($101 less) and he said to go there. After multiple failures in pricing and customer service, I wont be surprised when they end up like Circuit City.
This Car toys is horrible with HORRIBLE customer service! I called yesterday 01/06 and made an appointment with someone at 6pm for an automatic starter. When I took my vehicle in, they told me there was no appointments and it was first come first serve. I asked the person on the phone to find out who worked last night because that person took my information for an appointment. The person I spoke to was rude and said what do you want me to do about it? Are you kidding me??? Find out which employee gave me the incorrect information instead of answering the phone like an idiot. When I asked for a manager he hesitated. I hung up. I will never take my business to this store EVER again. HORRIBLE!!
I had a problem with the wiring of my car audio system and took it over to Car Toys. These guys had exactly what I needed and at an extremely competitive price. The customer service was excellent and the overall experience has made me a customer for life. Thanks!
The most absolutely worthless store on the planet. Got sent here from lynnwood with promises of 244 in store credit and a 60$ install to program a new python remote. The install jumps somehow from that to $74. OK fine. Then apparently I only have 42 dollars in store credit because the lynnwood guy read it wrong. After I pay for everything they cant do the install because my alarm is broken and they try to sell me on a new one. Im so sick of them I take the alarm remote and walk. I google how to program the remote and it programs just fine. LIARS!!!! They just wanted to sell me on a new system. DO NOT TRUST THESE GUYS!!!!!!
Dropped my car off at 6pm for a simple device removal, was quoted 2 hour on the phone..show up to drop it off and they tell me 3 hours and they cant get to it at 7, they said someone will be staying late to finish it up...it is now 11pm and not even a curtesy call to let me know my car will not be done..looks like Ill be ubering to work in the am! If you are looking for insanely poor customer service, a company that will not stand behind its products or services, and a way to waste your time, come here. I started coming to this specific Car Toys location approximately 8 years ago, when Magnolia Hi-Fi stopped doing installs (or honoring their past install work, farming it out to Car Toys). I have invested over $6,500 in new stereo equipment and installation (which, installation has been a huge cost, around $2,000 of that cost..and they will tell you that that is a GREAT DEAL, because I had to haggle every time with management because of the amount of money that I was spending)In the past 5 years, I have been in their store over 25 times for various problems ranging from poor installation (wires disconnecting), fuses being blown, and in the LAST TIME I WILL EVER STEP FOOT INTO THIS STORE OR ANY OTHER CAR TOYS, I had a JL Audio Amp which surged and blew my front speakers. They sent the amp to the manufacturer under warranty, and it was confirmed that there was a problem with the amp. It took 4 weeks for them to get my amp back, and when it came back, they had the audacity to offer me new speakers at a discount.After more hassle and haggling, their final offer was to sell me new speakers at wholesale. Are you kidding me?? You sell me an amp and install it, and when it fails, give me no recourse as a consumer to recoup my damages...awesome customer service! Way to back your products Car Toys!These guys are Kings at giving people the run-around, and will always add in hidden costs. Trust me, there HAS TO BE A BETTER WAY TO GO than this. If they will treat a long-time customer who spends a lot of money in their store, how do you think they are going to treat the average customer?
I wanted to get some seat heaters and a back-up camera installed on my car. I had always been weary of CarToys as they kind of have a bad reputation due to most of their items being overpriced and lack of skilled installers. However I decided to curb these notions and call them up.They recommended stopping by so they could look at the car and give me an accurate estimate. So I did just that. When I arrived they had an installer come review the car and what I wanted to get done, once he confirmed that was a-ok I spoke with the salesman. Got prices for 2 seat heaters, a new head unit and back-up camera. At first the price was VERY high. But it was just a starting point. The store manager was there and helping out the new salesman, they both worked with me and gladly negotiated the price down. They asked if I would sign up for their store credit card offer to get 12months 0% financing, by doing this they were willing to negotiate more. When we got down to what I considered a fair number for both of us (myself and the store) I finalized the paperwork and made an appointment to have my car dropped off the next day in the afternoon.I dropped the car off as planned. They had it for about a day. I got the call when it was done and ready to be picked up. They had the car pulled up front for me when I arrived. It was in the same shape as when I dropped it off. The head unit was installed perfectly, the back-up camera was there and adjusted for best angle, working as designed. The heated seats were installed and functioning.Overall not a bad experience.There was a mix-up with the back-up camera, it was different than the one I had picked out so I let them know, they investigated and found out the store sales display had the wrong camera out, but I did get what I paid for (they opened up a new one to show and re-assure me) and they even offered to change it out if I wanted due to the mix-up.Also the seat heater switches arent installed fully flush. An installer did review my concern however this was the best they could do with the available placement. Since function isnt affected and theyre not loose or anything I am fine with it.I would recommend them and would go back for further upgrades.Thanks to the team for a good experience and making my car a little better.

I went in to buy an adapter harness on 3-28-10. they had it in stock and i scanned it with my phone, a special app that finds the best deals. I found it was cheaper to buy off the cartoys web site!!! and i asked the sales man Rob can i get it at this price and i showed him my phone and he would not.???? So i went home and found it 60% cheaper on ebay. same part number and everything. They are not that friendly either. they seemed upset that i found it cheaperAndrew
Its obvious the sales staff looks for the wealthy looking customers. Im ethnic dressed in weekend wear did not get any greeting or acknowledgement whatsoever in the 20min being there.
Bought and had a proximity alarm installed for $300+It took way longer for them to install than they said it would. Brought the car home and realized that the tail lights and headlights were not working at all. Took it back for them to fix since this had only started when they installed the alarm. They refused to take responsibility saying that they did not touch the wiring for the lights. (The lights flash when the alarm is engaged, disengaged and while it is going off so obviously then did touch the wiring to the lights) They offered to look at the car for $100/hr. Knowing that mechanics often brake something else small in order to force you to come back and give them more money, I took the car to a different shop who told me for $200, that yes, this Car Toys did pinch a wire while installing the alarm. I am absolutely appalled that they thought they could get away with scamming me like this & I dont understand why this isnt considered fraud. I do not trust the Car Toys name anymore and will never visit another Car Toys.
I called the other day to see if they could flash a bypass module for me as I plan to put in an alarm system this weekend, was told they wouldnt do it unless they did the install. I will not be paying them $469 Prestige APS997E when it costs $109 on amazon and I am fully capable of installing myself (have installed 10+ alarms/remote starts over they years). I was planning on buying my whole audio system from them, but due to their response, I went on to spend $2,000+ on audio components from the internet instead of buying from this location. Liability for flashing a module for a customer (that i planned to buy from them)? I guess Ill just call around, or buy the USB cable myself.

If I could give this place zero stars I would !!! First of all I called for some information and the person that answered the phone was a rude smart ass. This place needs to be cleaned out and new faces put in places. If a customer calls for information, just give it to them and dont be difficult . after all last time I check you make profit on customers !!!!! BE polite and learn some customer service !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have had quite a string of bad luck with my Clifford installed alarm by Car Toys in Totem Lake. I had my alarm installed in 2011 if I remember correctly. As soon as it was installed my truck started acting up.Issue 1: My truck alarm would sound sometimes when I opened my door (when getting out after driving) and my truck wouldnt start. Car toys had me visit them several times and could not figure it out. They said it was my factory alarm and sent me to Dodge. Dodge said it was car toys alarm and to have them disconnect the ignition kill feature. I had Car Toys do that and it fixed the problem.Issue 2: 1-2 years later I was driving on the freeway and I lost throttle control. Literally RPMs dropped to idle and hitting the gas did nothing. All of a sudden it would kick back on. I took my truck to the dodge dealership (sounds like a transmission problem right?). They spent 3 weeks diagnosing and troubleshooting. In the end they found that the remote start feature was on the fritz. It was sending a signal to my truck telling it to start when I was driving. Ouch! $2,500 down the drain. Car Toys replaced the brain (Yay I guess) If the brain would have been replaced when issue 1 occurred this would have been avoided.Issue 3: Now my remote start/alarm has not been receiving signals from my key fob. I took it in and they said it was a loose battery terminal connection. They tightened it and it works. A few weeks later and its acting up again. I checked the terminal connection and it is tight, I am running other accessories off the same terminal and they work fine.*sighJon
Car toys offer car detailing... Thats a great service to provide while selling auto audio systems & accessories!Ok,.... So,.... as Im sitting here writing this its hard for me to quantify how I feel about this place... I understand their prices for installs are higher than most bc this is part of their sustainability.... however, when purchasing a really expensive car stereo over $1300, throw us a free bone! I was getting frustrated with their pricing.... stereo install is free, BUT we have to pay for the reverse camera install... either or... Either or... Grrrrr....Car toys... If your customer pays for a stereo more than $1k ... Just do the entire full install for free! Gah!3 stars partly due to that... But mainly bc they only offer Kenwood or pioneer stereos... We need more choices.
We purchased a car stereo with Bluetooth for my work truck over the holidays. I scheduled the installation the morning of December 26th and had it installed the same day. While I was in the store for the installation, I also purchased speakers as well. I did some price shopping and the cost was comparable with other companies. I had them install those speakers as well the same day. David White the store manager was very knowledgeable and courteous during the whole process. When I came to pick up the truck late in the evening, Sam Hadden the Assistant Manager spent a 1/2 hour with me sitting inside my truck going over all the features of the stereo and how to properly use the Bluetooth for my cell phone. The installation was perfect and the new speakers sound fabulous. Ive read some previous reviews, but with this new management staff at this store, I would definitely shop at this store again for any further stereo needs. I gave this review a 5 star rating as the whole process from shopping to installation was flawless.

They helped me to buy a good brand for a reasonable price that was in my budget; speaking as a 17 year old high school student that only works on weekends for minimum wage... The installation seemed a little careless though because when they finished the subwoofer was sitting in the middle of my trunk free to move around while the sub was top heavy. Of course as soon as I pull out of the parking lot the thing falls flat on its face and kills its self. I imidiatly pull back into the parking lot hoping the thing didnt just explode the minute I got it. At the time I was pissed too because I had been sitting in the parking lot for 6 hours waiting for the install to finish. Luckily it was totally fine but they said Id have to pay extra to have it secured into my car which I couldnt afford to even buy food for myself that day cause I gave them all the money I had... Today Im going back to get my system checked out cause it is sounding funky compared to its usual self.... Wish me luck!!

I have to agree with all the bad reviews, This car toys is the worst. We went in for a new stereo told them the old stereo had no sound but would turn on, they told us probably needed a new stereo, He look at the speakers and said nothing about the amp under the seat that all the Mitsubishi eclipse have, something that they should have know sense they are a STEREO Installer, Anyway we bought the stereo and they went ahead and installed it with out checking if the amp was good or not and then called us after and told us the amp was bad and it would cost us another 200.00 to rewire the speakers.Needless to say we were pissed, I told them we didnt want the stereo then and they said because they already installed it, it would cost us 60.00 to take it out, What a bunch of BULLSHIT. So done with scammers. Anything for an extra buck. I should have known my brother had a really bad experience there, They do not know what there doing, BAD...BAD...BAD and now we just realized that they didnt even hook up or install the bluetooth, real winners. Well we went back down there and had everything fixed and they refunded the money back for charging us for a part that they didnt install. They did not offer us a discount for the inconvenience of having to go back down there and fix the problem caused by them but the manager was very nice.
Dont ever use this Car Toys!!! I went to the Totem Lake location to get a sound system put in my car. The staff seemed friendly and professional at first, but my opinion has changed.They told me my car would be done at a certain time, that time came along and passed, with no phone call to assure me of a different time.So I called, and they gave me another time. That time came and went, again, with no phone call. I called them 4 or 5 times to figure out what was going on and what was taking so long.They never gave me a reason and never told me a correct time. I eventually got dropped off at the location to wait there, as my ride had other things to do than wait around for a lost phone call about my car being ready.They told me that my car would be done in 4 hours tops, and it took close to 7.Now, I can understand that things happen, and go wrong, but it would have been better if they would have let me know so I wasnt waiting around all day with no car or knowledge of when I was going to have it back.Anyways, I eventually got my car, my system sounded great, I just let it go. But recently, my husband looked in the trunk to find that my Sub had literally fallen out of the box that held it, took the screws and all.I emailed the manager my situation on what to do, as I have a warrenty on everything, but I had recently moved away and was no where near a Car Toys.The manager never emailed me back. So I called, he said hed call me back, which never happened. I finally got ahold of someone to help me, and they just told me to call 1800cartoys, while being rude over the phone.This Car Toys was unbelieveably unprofessional from the very beginning. It has tarnished my outlook on the company and I will never use them again.

Let me start off it took 3 tries to get everything right. Second Im not inexperienced with stereo and sub installed.... I know what is done right and what is not. My wife has a 10 Honda Civic and wanted a 10inch JL sub and Apline deck with Bluetooth. So our sales person Yuan if I remember his name right, which was great throughout the process helped us pick out what worked best and fit in our budget. Came back 30 mins later and had them start the install. 8:30 PM rolls around and we havent heard from them. We call and they said it should be done soon so to come and swing by. So we do, but to find the tech still working on the car. He said my wifes speakers are crap. Keep in mind that this car has about 5000 miles on it, the speakers are still pretty much new. Told them it wasnt the speakers as they sounded great previously. The manager comes back from his smoke break and said they are going to finish up the install tomorrow if that is ok. We said sure. Early afternoon the next day we get the car back and we ask the same tech what was the problem. He basically said something about how Apline is configured was giving him issues. Sounds like he didnt have a clue. We took the car home and to test it out. First problem was that you couldnt read the deck. The lights were so dim it was impossible to read unless it was completely dark. Second there was no Bluetooth streaming, meaning we could not connect via Bluetooth and listen to audio like Pandora, but we could do phone calls. I wasnt even aware that was an option nor was the sales guy. Lastly the desk was not mounted correctly. Told the sales guy our issues and he said we could get a new desk and correctly mount the deck. I requested a new tech as I just did not trust the previous guy.Came back 2 days later dropped the car off and said we will pick it up the next day. Come back, told it was done, get the keys only to see the same deck was in there and that nothing has been fixed. The Managers excuse was another Honda which confused one of their techs. So two of the same car is confusing? And apparently that they had given our key to a random person as they had gotten it all mixed up. Wow Really? Luckily that person returned the key. He played it off as a simple mistake but that is a clear lack organization within this store. At this point I should have just said take it all out and put the stock deck back in but I gave them one more chance.So try number 3 I explained to the Manage the issues and the deck that is supposed to be installed as well how it should be properly mounted. I even ask if the desk could be installed on the lower slot but he said no. Got it back and everything was done right…. Finally!I still couldnt believe the deck could not be installed on the lower slot. Went home and took the deck out only to find that you could 100% install it on the lower slot, which helps reduce glare. I knew the Manager was just being a dick. This CarToys location has turned into a joke. I went there because I didnt want to deal with the hours of installing and what not. I should have just installed it myself. Lesson learned. Based off the other reviews of this location… I highly recommend going elsewhere.On a positive note, all of the wiring was installed very professionally.
I installed an auto start in my truck & could not get it to activate. I took it to Car Toys, they said they would have to start from scratch on the installation & it would be $480.00. Extremely frustrated, I paid it, then once I got home I called 2 other car toys & they quoted me $210 for the same alarm to be installed in my truck. I went back to the Car Toys & told them to refund my money, the manager said he would match that price, & I told him I would rather ralph up a kidney than pay them one dollar. In this day and age of social media just how long can a company keep these type of practices going on.
For a store that sells cell phones inwould expect a company to be able to return phone calls. You must shake this tree, and shake it HARD.
Been waiting for a part for about three weeks now. Seem like when they get your money they dont really care about you. And they was suppose to replace a brand new sub I got from them that was going out the next day and still havent done so.
Fair customer service with time to figure out what you need.
