I have a 2004 E46 M3 that I have had since day 1. Greg has been absolutely awesome in helping to maintain my car and keeping on the road. They have done all levels of work from simple oil changes to injector work, electrical systems, alignment and bushing replacement as well as sensor work. The car runs like it did the day I took it off the lot. The prices are fair and I feel like the craftsmanship is excellent. In summary I would take my cars there in the future and I would recommend Greg to anybody looking for top notch work on import cars.

I went to AWE to have some work done on my early 2000s Jaguar, and they gave a very thorough diagnosis on what specifically had to be done. The turn out was quick, and they did great work! They gave me a good deal on it too. I recommend anyone with a European car in need of service in the Lafayette area to get your work done at AWE. Thanks, guys!

If it were possible to give negative stars I would. Greg the owner is one of the most dishonest individuals I have ever had the misfortune of meeting. There are a ton of great mechanics in the Boulder area - take your vehicle to ANYONE else. If you love your vehicle like I do I would suggest pouring gasoline over it and lighting it on fire before trusting these clowns with your vehicle. Youll be better off in the end. These guys violated Colorado law by providing no quote or estimate and through intimidation forced my wife to pay $4,200.00 before releasing the vehicle. The vehicle was not fixed and we have since received a quote of over $18,000 required to fix the hack job these guys did on our engine! We disputed the charge with American Express and American Express sided with us after reviewing a second quote from a certified mechanic pointing out their failure to fix the vehicle. They not only didnt fix the vehicle. They made it much worse. They also had the nerve to threaten a lawsuit if I spoke up about their business practices and disputed the charge. Dont let these guys bully you. You need to trust your mechanic and these guys are crooked. Im going to the Attorney General now to file a formal complaint as they continue with their attempted intimidation. These guys are dishonest and I would highly suggest that you take your vehicle elsewhere. I am now reporting them to the Attorney General for their violation of Colorado law under CRS 42-9-101.If they did repairs without your authorization and held your vehicle hostage like they did with us I suggest you also report them to the Attorney General and dispute your credit card. There is no room for this sort of dishonesty in the community we live in.

Greg & autowerks east is the most honest, straightforward & mechanically proficient shop I have ever worked with. Greg test drove & inspected 4 different vehicles for me before I settled on my 2006 supercharged Range Rover & I only settled on it after getting the green light from Greg. Greg did a few jobs (replace brakes & tires, recharge air conditioning, various sensors) & everything was done fairly, but most importantly, he did the job correctly. Every time. I have since moved to Minnesota and have been in a nightmare with two different garages & Greg is still nice enough to answer my calls & offer his advice. Thanks Greg! Greg intrinsically understands mechanics, and is a dying breed of hands-on technicians that has the experience to evaluate problems over the phone before the car hits the shop. I’m certain that has saved me thousands in missed diagnosis. Furthermore, Greg is a straight-shooter and provides matchless advice as if it were his own vehicle. This is a rare attribute today in the opaque, bottom-line driven auto repair industry. I’ve benefited greatly from Greg’s guidance since the ‘70s and encourage anyone to call him directly to assess their situation.

Recently purchased a 2008 Porsche Cayenne GTS that needed a front brake job. Price was reasonable and appreciated Greg calling with suggestions on type of parts and the savings to complete the rear brakes as well. Loaner car was a plus. Liked the service and brought it in to fix an issue with the rear hatch which was covered under warranty. They were upfront about the potential issue that I might be on the hook for the difference between what the warranty company pays and what they charge. At the end of the day, the fix was something simple and we were able to by pass the warranty co. Appreciated the honesty, they could have done unnecessary work and made more money and I would never have know. Will definitely be returning.

I took my 2008 Cayenne a week or so after purchase for a full workup - prompted in part by a need to diagnose a CEL. In CO, that automatically results in failing emissions testing. And I wanted to verify that my car was in good condition They went through the car and gave me a list of potential issues. The CEL was diagnosed as bad O2 sensors.I went ahead with an O2 sensor replacement (~$1k) and got the car back with the CEL off. I then drove it in such a way to get the OBD monitors to activate and the CEL came back. Their next guess was a bad MAF. They wouldnt refund the price paid (after all, I did get new O2 sensors and my old ones were already thrown out) but they did testing to see if it was the MAF. It wasnt.Im giving three stars because:1) They didnt drive the car themselves to simulate the drive cycle for the OBD monitors. While there is one monitor that essentially requires an overnight wait, the rest can be tripped with just a 15 minute drive. Aside from having done this on other vehicles to test emissions related changes, I also conducted this on the Cayenne itself when I got it back to check their work.2) While I understand they incurred cost for the new O2 sensors and time spend replacing my old ones, this work wasnt carried out because I wanted O2 sensors - it was to solve a problem which didnt get solved. One would expect them to offer some discount on future work to make up for this. Perhaps $1k isnt much to their typical customer but it makes a difference to me to spend that much and not see a result.I realize theres a fine line here. If Id self diagnosed the problem as bad O2 sensors and just showed up asking them to install new ones, Id feel differently about (2). But because I took this action on their recommendation, it rankles a bit. That said, Id likely use them again (and perhaps will up my rating in the future). They have a reputation for carrying out good work and I certainly have some work that needs to be done for which no diagnosis is required.

2 months after dropping my car off and receiving no phone calls, I made repeated calls and left messages with no response. I then drove to the shop to find my car in the exact same (although significantly dirtier) condition as when I dropped it off. The part had not even been identified or ordered. I then had to source my own part and paint job. Total time to replace a rocker panel? THREE MONTHS (and only this short because I did most of their job for them)! I never received a response in phone call or from the several emails that I sent. If you have an extra car and need to store your car I guess just bring it to Greg and it will probably sit there for a year before anything actually gets done. If I could give negative stars for the customer service I would. Take your vehicle to a mechanic who actually respects his customers.

I had a bad experience. My G-waggon had a defective power steering pump and they replaced it. Afterwards, power steering fluid was leaking all over my driveway. When I took it back in they said it was due to the seals on the power steering box. I got a second opinion from another shop and they showed me the leak was from a press fitting on the new power steering pump they installed. I went back and showed them and they admitted their mistake and fixed it for free. Saved at least $1,000 not having my power steering box re-built. I also had them install a new stereo and speakers. Sound wasnt good so I took it to another shop and they said the speakers were installed wrongly, and and 2 were damaged because of it. The tweeters on the dash werent even mounted and just laying there loose. The other shop said, this is the worst install job he had seen. They clearly didnt know what they were doing. There was also a host of other unkept promises and delays, but I wont get into that.

The trusted staff and owner at Autowerks East is now my go-to auto repair shop. I originally approached them about my BMW 540i. They not only are cheaper than everyone else (including the dealer....shocker I know!), but they also keep the bigger picture in mind when doing a repair that results in savings to me. They have gone the extra mile every time from helping with new tires, performing regular oil changes, to solving a creaking noise problem that was driving me crazy. We are now taking all of our cars to their shop including our Toyota Highlander, Honda Ridgeline and of course the BMW. They will exceed your expectations when you make the switch to this locally owned and operated auto repair business.

I was told they can change the ECU to show a ready state and would take it to have emissions tested. When I picked up they told me the computer doesnt look for a ready state currently and there is nothing they could do to fix it. THEN WHY DID HE TELL ME TO BRING IT IN? He charged me $122 for telling what I already knew after indicating no problem they could set the ready code. When I complained about spending $122 for nothing he mentioned he charges a flat rate to help pay for his $120K machine he has for this purpose. I feel misled that they could fix it only to find out they dont have the tool to make it work.I really hate paying for nothing, I feel led on when in reality they dont have a clue.

I bought my first car as a 21-year-old in 1967, a Porsche 912. Since that time I have had several cars (BMW 2002, Porsche 944, Saab 900, Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4, Jeep Cherokee, RAV4) that have been serviced at a number of dealerships and independent shops. Recently (April 2014), I purchased a 2000 Porsche 996 with the M96 engine that, as the reader may know, has a small number of flaws, at least one of which can produce a catastrophic engine failure. In my search to find an independent Porsche shop in the Denver metropolitan area to correct these flaws, I discovered the website for Autowerks. In reading the description of Greg’s experiential history and the testimonials to his (and his technicians) skills and personal integrity, I decided to meet with him and have my car evaluated. I was so impressed by Greg and his staff at that initial meeting that I decided to have him do the critical work needed on my car to provide me with what I expect to be years of anxiety-free driving. I often drive between Colorado and Pennsylvania and, for a host of obvious reasons, do not want my car to implode in the middle of Kansas. I am writing this review shortly after the work was completed and before I make the trip east. I will probably have a follow-up review after the trip and some more additional miles have been put on the car. Here are my early impressions. In the 47 years I have had my cars serviced, I have never had interactions with a mechanic/technician/businessman like Greg. In the three weeks subsequent to our first meeting, he has probably spent 5-6 hours in conversation with me. As a result, my sense is that he establishes relationships with his clients that are based on doing what is in their best interests, not on what drives his bottom line. In our conversations he has been an educator, an advisor, and a willing listener as I ask questions about the variety of fixes that must be done on the engine and express my concerns about other potential mechanical issues that may arise. He has also been an important advisor and ally in exchanges I had with the dealership where I purchased the car over a safety issue that should have been addressed, but was not, before delivery. The issue was resolved to my complete satisfaction. I attribute this successful resolution to Greg’s guidance as I negotiated with the dealer. At this point, I can say with genuine confidence that Greg and his staff have the highest level of personal integrity of any technicians with whom I have entrusted my cars. My expectation is that these impressions will not change as time passes. I should note that I have never been happier to pay a bill for work on one of my cars than I was when I paid Greg. Indeed, I would recommend that anyone who is planning to purchase a used Porsche (or BMW, Mercedes, etc.) take the car to Greg’s shop for a pre-purchase inspection. Had I met Greg before making my purchase, the transaction would have taken place much more to my satisfaction than it did.
