Academy was great! They changed the store around a bit but the biggest change are the way the registers are set up. So there is one line and and automated voice calls you to a register when its your turn. I was able to get my fishing license while checking out and My husband was able to get everything he needed for hunting and fishing. It didnt take but about 10 minutes to check out from start to finish. We had our drivers licenses ready when we got to the register. Paid all With one transaction for shoes backpacks and other purchases.They did NOT have any mesh Backpacks then and there but had a good selection to choose from. If you are still looking for mesh ones I would call ahead to see if they got a new shipment before I would make the trip

Really clean and well kept together store with friendly staff. They have almost everything you could ask for an academy store to have, personally my favorite location to go to because they have everything from cloths, hunting, fishing, camping, and everything else in between. They also offer hunting and fishing license which is really nice. I would highly recommend checking in on this location when your in the area, even if your not in the area it’s worth the drive keep up the good work guys love your store

Best Academy sports and outdoors I have found yet!! The staff was very friendly and helpful because we always go to the one in lake Charles and this store was completely different so we were turned around. I think the guys name was Jevin who helped us in fishing. He was an absolute breath of fresh air and so down to earth and helped us find everything we were looking for!!! I will definitely travel to Lafayette again just to get my stuff I need from here!!

Someone commented that Academy has everything... Well, apparently, they dont have school uniforms! This new online-only option for uniforms, being pushed by big stores like Academy, is ridiculous. I REFUSE to purchase uniforms online for my 15yr old daughter!! Instead, we went to JC Penny & found EXACTLY what she needs. Academy has lost my business for the day, AND going forward. I will NOT be told how I have to shop by these corporations. Its my hard-earned money, & Ill spend it in stores that allow me & my family to try-on clothing & actually purchase in-store!

I like to shop here for Fathers Day and My dads birthday for stuff he might like. He is a big sportsman, so this is the place for sportsmen. If Field and Stream doesnt have it, Academy will.

Had a great clearance going on today. A lot of shoes, workout clothes, fishing clothes, fishing gear and other things on clearance. The stores new remodel/layout is a lot better than it was before and makes it easier to navigate through.

Ive never had a bad experience with any of them. The guys that work in the firearms department could learn a thing or two from the ladies that work in the front.

This Academy sports had more of a selection than the Academy sports in Huntsville Alabama.. I love shopping in Lafayette.

Large selection of anything for any sport at competitive prices. Not a 5 stars since the personell is not always very knowledgeable about the items in stock and their use. In the Juban rd location near Denham Springs LA they sold me the wrong gas tank for my boat.

We were able to get shirts for our employees

I am trying to buy sport shirts for my grandsons, but I had bought the wrong size.Adam at Academy on Louisiana Avenue came to my rescue. I couldnt find any of the size I needed on the racks & I had to return the others I had bought. He came & helped me & actually went to the back of the store & found some they had in stock! I had looked online & couldnt find them, so I was so happy that your courteous staff..especially Adam had come to my rescue. Such a pleasant outcome for me!! Thank you for having well trained personnel in your stores..to rescue grandparents in need during holidays..

My husband sent me on a shopping errand to acquire a few Columbia and Magellan fishing shirts for him. The Guy Harvey t-shirts were on sale and too nice to pass up. Unfortunately, Academy doesnt ship to Puerto Rico and we have a condo there. My husband is a contractor and working closely with FEMA to restore this beautiful island. Got what I needed in a flash. Great selection! Now, Ill either have to stuff my already overflowing suitcase with his new shirts or ship them myself. Im not willing to give up space in my suitcase for his things when Ive got way too much to pack myself. Help! Would be great if Academy started delivering to PR.

Took my grandpa to buy a gun and the young man acted like he couldnt stay still. Just kept leaving my grandpa who is 87y.o. as though the other customers were more important

They didnt have the kind of spinner baits that i wanted and there was a certain kind of jug heads that i wanted but they didnt have that either. But they did yave some other baits that i always get over there.

My order that was placed online could not be found and the lady kept asking if I was sure that I placed it although I handed her my phone with the confirmation information. Finally after 20 minutes she found my order. No apologies given smh. No weapons to purchase except .22 caliber. Wow!!

Very few all black shoes which I need for work. I bought the only pair that looked like a tennis shoe. I was very disappointed as this was my first visit there and everyone keeps telling me to shoe Academy for shoes instead of Walmart.

Convenient location to pick up athletic and outside gear. Everyone in the family enjoys going to Academy. The only bad thing Ive noticed about this location is the theft traffic. On one visit I saw an employee stop two people from going into the dressing room with other items tucked into clothes. I would assume they were there together, but who knows?

I have to say I really like how they are taking social distancing seriously. They also monitor the amount of people that goes inside the store. I would recommend going in earlier because after 12 the line is extremely long.

Not a big section of school uniforms. You cant try on school pants since the dreasing rooms are closed. How are we supposed to get the right size of pants if we cant try them on. Im sure some people dont want to buy pants that might not fit and have to return them again to find another size. I just think they dont want to keep cleaning the dressing rooms bc of coivd but still.

Im from NYC where you have stores like Hermans and Modells to find your outdoor needs. Since I moved to the south Ive been truly impressed with Academy . I needed an air mattress and they didnt disappoint. Magellan is a great outdoor product. This air mattress is awesome. Academy all the way!!!!

Good place to get your outdoor supplies. The staff is always friendly and helpful and they are quick to open a new cash register if the lines start to get long.

It was nice. They have good music (think im getting old) and great sales on shoes. There was only one cashier, but probably because I went as soon as they opened.

Its a large store. They have a large inventory. Their prices are high but their sales are great. Large parking lot. Handicap slots.
