5/9 I have to give the young lady on duty around 11:45 a shout out for being patient and friendly.My wife usually gets donuts. Im not familiar with the set up or the menu. I travel so I get my fix out of state. I had a nice experience!You cant go at noon and expect them to have all you want. I like a business that once its out you miss out. It means theyre food is freshly made.The young girl was totally cool explaining what they had left. She did not rush me, and gave me several options.I ordered a custard, and it was filled to enjoy every bite! My kids knew what they wanted and they were in stock! Great donuts!If youre ever in Lafayette, make this a memorable trip and try our donut shop!

For the past 2 visits there have been no apple in my apple fritters. The first time I thought it was a fluke but I now know that either they stopped putting apples in or else someone isnt mixing the batter well enough. As you can see in the photo how flat the middle of the fritter is. Thats because there are no apples. Apple fritters should have a lumpy appearance not flat. Usually Mary Lous is consistent but they have missed the mark the last couple of visits for me.

Each apple fritter is $2.70. You can see how huge it is. It taste good but for those who have tried Walmarts apple fritters, you will know you have the bite of apple and the 3D shape of Walmart fritters make it more tasty and appealing. These are huge and flat. Taste wise is good but I wish theres more apply pieces which I taste apple but didnt get any bites of it.

After patronizing the store since I was a child, quality is really gone downhill! They don’t carry everything on their menu as they claim. If you want particular donuts you have to order 24 hours in advance I was informed. I find the clerks attitude of indifference very off-putting.Update: Owners response doesn’t address employees attitudes towards their customers, the reason they even have a job. And the reason that will keep me away.

Glazed on some of them are too sweet for me. However, I like this place about their quick service and variation of donuts that they offers.

Has been one of my favorite donut places since I was a kid. Ever since the new ownership took over, the donuts are just as good and the business has been streamlined and more efficient! I can ask someone I meet while in Lafayette if they know where Mary Lou Donuts is located; if they answer no then I can generally assume they are new to Lafayette or dont know their way around Lafayette. In our opinion Mary Lou Donuts is Lafayettes best donut shop! Keep up the good work!!!

Soooo I come from Chicago, where (I always thought) we had the best donuts on the planet. So many crazy little donut shops downtown and theyre all so delicious (and like $3 per donut - its Chicago). How on earth can a little shop in Indiana beat them all, hands down? Mary Lou is amazing! The donuts are the most delicious thing Ive ever tasted, and the price is beyond reasonable! I can see why everyone recommended I check this place out when I moved here!

Donuts are great but on two separate occasions we found a bug in one and a piece of metal in another. Emailed the owner and he said he would look into it. Never tried to provide any resolution to me. Hopefully they have established a cleaner working environment by now.

From their Bavarian cream donuts to their scrumptious cinnamon twists, you will not be disappointed (unless you are trying to maintain a waistline).Also, the staff are very friendly, patient, and efficient in serving customers, especially at peak times.

Dropped by during rush hour Saturday morning. The drive-through was long but the service was so efficient we got through in no time.Tried the following:1) Regular ring donut with chocolate icing2) Red velvet cake donut3) Cream cheese danish pastryThe regular chocolate donut was as per the usual. The red velvet was very good - super moist and decadent. Would recommend it!The cream cheese danish pastry is an interesting one. It has both cream cheese and a sugar glaze on top, so with every bite you get a hit of sweetness mixed in with the cheesy/salty flavour. I kinda liked it, but I can imagine it wouldnt be for everyone.

BEST DONUTS EVER and theyre less than a dollar! The shop is very busy on Saturdays but going during the week is usually no problem. This is a must-stop place for breakfast!

Drive thru service only right now - or order ahead and i believe theyll run your order out to you, although they may have stopped since they are subject to the same staffing shortages as everywhere else right now. Their donuts are simply GREAT, homemade and delicious! Apple fritters and persians as big as your head! (or mini fritters, which are sized for normal people haha) All different kinds of filled donuts! (overfilled occasionally, but Im not complaining🤗) All different kinds of cake donut! Im partial to the white iced with coconut, myself. Their menu is available online as a pdf document, definitely check it out before you go - otherwise youll be stuck in the drive-thru going UHHHHHHHH because theres no menu posted on the building itself. 😜 Located at the bottom of 4th St., and definitely worth the trip! Go very early if possible, otherwise you may get stuck in a line for awhile, LOLOL. Also, WATCH THE CONES, their parking lot is now mostly a one-way path for drive-thru traffic, not parking as such anymore. There are a few spaces at the front near the road.

May Lous offers a quaint location where locals gather for coffee, donuts, and conversation. Over the last couple of years the ownership has changed hands and the recipe isnt quite the same. Nevertheless, Mary Lous offers a wide variety of delectable donuts for everyone (except for those requiring gluten free)!

Donuts are good but was so so so sad to drive 15 minutes just to be told they only have cream cheese danish on Saturdays :( as thats what my heart desired. But cute little place. Know what you want before you go thru the drive thru as theres no menu or listings of donuts/pasteries💕as well as the bear claws are different here then what they are supposed to be. Very disappointing

This is the first time I have stopped here. I am semi new to Lafayette and the only other place I have had was called corlew donut company or something like that on Veterans Memorial. They were awful (service and price wise) and everybody at Subaru told me to try here. I was there about 5 minutes before 5 a.m. (when they open) so I waited until I saw the lady approaching the door to walk up to the door so no one felt rushed. She unlocked it, but did not open it for me and huffed as she walked away LOL seems like she didnt really want me there. I said good morning and tried to make some small talk and she didnt seem too happy to see me or speak to me so I got my donuts and left. Their prices are very reasonable, the donuts are delicious, but the service could use some work I guess. Other than that, I would recommend this place. It is for sure better than the other one that I have tried.

Easily the best doughnut in the state of Indiana. If you can get there early and get it fresh it will change your life. Plain glazed yeast for me, for my partner it’s the chocolate iced yeast while the icing is still warm. Mary Lou’s is one of a kind- when I travel I seek out the most hyped doughnut shop where ever I am and I’ve yet to have a better doughnut than here. I think that this doughnut shop made PopSci or Popular Mechanics “top 100 things to do before you die”. And I’d agree- 10for10 worth a special trip, and worth getting up early for.

This is a small, friendly doughnut shop. The prices are very cheap, but the food is delicious. The seating is a little cramped, but you dont go there for a comfy place to sit.

One of my favourite and most memorable stops along our USA 2018 Mini Road-trip. First off the building is so recognisable and still quaint to the eye. We only had a short time to stop here and enjoy a couple cups of hot coffee and some sweet treats. The regulars were already entrenched in local chit chat and we were warmly welcomed into the friendly discussion. Felt so at home here I was loathe to leave and would love to return one day. Gave me a small feeling of a scene out of Twin Peaks without the bizarre. Thanks Mary Lou for the experience! Short but oh so sweet.

They use to be better. Went back to town, looking to eat at all the local places. Mary Lous use to be on the list. Not anymore. The donuts were greasy, very little filling and gave me an upset stomach.

We stopped by for 2 dozen donuts for everyone at work. It was my first time here and my first time experiencing their donuts. I love this store! It is so adorable inside. There is even a little coffee clutch of gentleman that said they come here everyday for breakfast. The staff was so nice and really made you feel like you were valued. Now for the donuts... Out of this world fresh! I was only going to eat one but who can stop at one when they are so fresh and delicious. I dont live far but if I did I would travel for these.

Good donuts but I give up trying to buy any. Very difficult to get there during open hours, which are early and inconsistent throughout the week, if you work a job unless you are able to get there before work and have somewhere to keep your donuts all day. I know theyre not hurting for business and Im not asking for anyone to cater to me specifically, but closing at 2 on Saturday when theyre closed all day Sunday baffles me and anyone Ive ever spoken to about it. Not sure when they think people eat donuts, but I imagine the business model caters to businesses and retirees, as Ive seen reviews to this effect before so I assume they are aware of the issue. This isnt a bad thing and they can do whatever they want, just good to be aware of as an individual consumer!

This place has the best donuts in town! They are not expensive and are made fresh every day. They have the largest cinnamon rolls and more! You have to try it! You wont be sorry! And they have a drive through as well as indoor seating.

I walked to into there after not being there for about a year and let me tell you it still one of the best places to get donuts. The prices are so fantastic and the donuts are the best in town no matter where you go. The staff may not be perky but when it early in the morning I understand but I can tell you I have never had one to be rude to me. The simple fact the atmosphere is one that you feel at home there and you will leave there satisfied ever time. You guess at Mary Lous are amazing and thank you for the donut I will be back.

The lady with the super cool dip dyed ponytail who helped me last week to order donuts for my youngest daughters birthday as well as the super sweet and helpful older lady with glasses were both amazing. They took the time to ensure that my daughter got the exact donut she had asked me for, made sure I was happy with the order when I picked it up, offered to help me bring my large order to my car, put my purse behind the counter while I loaded up my large order, and truly took the time to be not only helpful but get to know me. They really did go above and beyond! Plus, their donuts are AMAZING!!!!!

Do not insult your costumers. That is the first rule in business. Its sad that this is the best place for pastry in Lafayette. In the 80s and early 90s there was a bakery in my home town (in Iowa). It had the best rolls and frosting ever made. This place is only a 3 compared to that old home town bakery. Use real cream based frosting, make your Boston cream better.Not a former employee... Just a customer. Okay... The bakery I referred to was in Iowa. Dont insult your customers.

Door says open lobby closed but drive thru is blocked with buckets of cement if you didnt want money for services just say so

My husband simply love this please he loves the donuts there they have an a variety it is very tasteful the first time we went there the customer service was outstanding we had a very nice waitress and when we told her that it was our first time there she made sure that we felt comfortable and gave us a coupon for a dozen donuts for free

Best of the best Donuts! not to sweet! Just right! The place had been there since1961. The staff is nice and friendly. The place also sales great coffees by the pound; Colombian and other gourmet coffees. Coated cheese and caramel popcorn to go. If you like a fresh cup of coffee with donuts this is the place to go!
