Bakery deserves 10 stars! I ordered a very specialized cake for a Hawaiian theme 90th birthday party. The Bakery Dept - especially the cake decorator - provided the perfect cake. It was darling and delicious and the surprise was fresh sliced strawberries in the filling! And it was ready on time. A huge positive response from the party guests. I was able to save an extra piece for the honoree, but the rest of the cake was devoured! Thank you!!!

Enough parking space many shopping options, good produce quality. You might wait a little for check out but not much!

Every time I shop here, I have to review my receipt because they constantly do not honor their own price labeling. There is always an excuse, and since theyve already rung up the purchase, now if I want some recourse, I have to go to customer service. So they force you to hold up the line to verify everything before you pay. Often I am asked, Do you want the item?, because they would rather not sell it to you than check the price. Example: They advertised soup, buy 2, get 4 free. Seems straight forward, but when it rung up, it only gave me $1.29 off each $3.79 can of soup; hardly buy 2, get 4 free. So what shouldve been $7.58 for six cans of soup, cost me $15 instead, and a trip to customer service, wasting more of my time. I could understand if this was a one off, but things like this are chronic issues at this store.

Weekly shopping, clean store and Friendly staff. One clerk quickly got us a new carton of eggs, one had cracked. Check out was fast

Its a Safeway, which has in my experience come to represent the same thing despite the location: a clean, well-stocked and conclusively overpriced grocery store staffed by smile-challenged automatons who could seem to care less where you shop. I enter and exit each of them feeling unwelcome but not truly despised, like Ive wandered into an episode of Westworld looking for fresh fruit or a great deal on frozen pizzas. I am grateful Safeway stores exist, because people need food,, but management has allowed the customer service experience to dwindle to the point where it bears an eerie parallel to what one might receive in the waiting room at a brothel. My rating would be the same or higher if the stores were exclusively staffed by robots. I only go here in desperation, and I would choose whole foods first despite the price hike. This company needs to reevaluate how friendly it is. Sorry, but I cant call it something its not.

Loved the vegetables from local growers and organic products. The Bakery shop has the most delicious cakes and fresh made bread.

Its our local neighborhood Safeway and I truly enjoy whenever we need to visit. All their employees are so awesome, friendly, helpful, and everything awesome you want or look to achieve with any customer service employee position. Always positive and upbeat...even the late night crew. Not to forget to mention that The Starbucks employees are awesome too. Always fully stocked and many different products, sales, and goodies I need and want. Always SUPER Clean and Organized. Thank you all. You Rock!

This Safeway truly is a very great place to shop! There are very nice staff, and its always easy to find a parking space.

Great variety of organic vegetables! I read about bad customer service in this place but did not experience that. Staff were very helpful.

Regular grocery shopping store. I can find everything I want here without purchasing in batch amounts as Costco, even the price per unit is a little higher than that.

Great shopping in the morning so I have to go to work always have good food to eat and clean restrooms

Its definitely a step up from the nearby Safeway in Rossmoor, but does not have the variety that you see at the larger or newer stores. It is a clean store, and the customer service is good when you find the right person. My rating is for the entire store and lack of variety I would expect to see, and that is because of the size limitations of the building. If your shopping for basic or staple items, by all means, patronize the store.

When I was at this store there were no lines to get in. The store was fully stocked. I was in and out very quickly.

I have been shopping in this Safeway ever since I came home from the Military and never had an issue! Until Denise the cashier helper for the self service kept asking questions unrelated to her job, for example is it dark outside. Why do you have glasses on, and was very pushy. She asked if I was over 21 and it clearly shows on my ID that I am about to be 40. Maybe she had a bad day but its no excuse for bad customer service. I served my country for years and I dont need to be treated disrespectful.

Great store people are great and the lines are low normally when I go in the am they are well stocked and just added new parking ..

One of my favorite Safeways around, very clean lots of parking, staff is really nice and helpful. Best of all you can find anything you need in one place. Store is very clean and shelfs always stocked up.

Needs to updated and has to remove many items from the isles.

That Safeway is always nice the employees are always helpful the meat man saved me a lot of money on some steaks one day just by telling me to check the sales paper they had that week👏🏿👏🏿

Safeway is expensive. Lets just get that straight. But this Safeway is 1000X better than the one in Orinda, which will not let you check out on your own and has extraordinarily long lines that would test the patience of gandhi. This one has self-checkout and lines that are short to reasonable.

Nice, big store with great selection and a fuel station. The only downside? Poor customer service. Would it hurt to say excuse me when you cut in front of me when stocking shelves? And FYI, a smile goes a long way! Keep trying Safeway!

A clean, well with place for groceries. The staff are very nice. The store is doing a very good job dealing with covid-19.

Is that car clean? I dont know because clean / not clean is not labeled. Customers can return a car where others think the clean carts are.

Its a grocery store. It sells food and...stuff. 😳All kidding aside, the staff here is SO customer friendly that it makes the drudgery of fetching groceries more than tolerable. Prices are a bit high, but catch their frequent promotions, and youll be just fine. 👍

They often close early to make sure that people arent in the building after 11:00. Its just frustrating when you show up before a business is closing time and the doors are already locked. I work down the street and get out of work very close to their closing time and have multiple times been found to be disappointed...

Unlike most other Safeways that are in the County if Contra Costa, this one is more liberal with most of their items.Where as you dont have to chase down an Employee and/or Manager to be able to Check out or to Purchase an item.

It’s great for groceries. Wish they had more innards but hey if you’re a Safeway fan this one is as good as any.

For the second time I went there, I been served by Lynn in both time, shes very nice and friendly, she made my breakfast burrito with attention and kindness.Thank you

I am a frequent shopper here- old school staff that have been there a while know you and treat you like family. Aisles are wide enough for two baskets to pass and supplies do go fast. Pretty popular store.

Service is SLOW, when you need help. Prices can sometimes be outrageous but luckily self-checkout doesnt take as long as normal checkout. Got kicked out one time for putting a item in the wrong spot, like I was just putting it back jeez.

Be aware they charge 30% higher prices and run a more expensive ad than Walnut Creek or Pleasant Hill. Check before shopping. Five dollar Fridays are $5 but just for you coupon prices are different.

This location is always busy. But I’ve never had an issue finding parking here

I would say they had a pretty good selection in the meat department what steaks and fish chicken and all as well as desserts in the bakery department

You’re better off at a gas station as far as restrooms and most of the food is about to expire. I was told to “walk around the parking lot” to find a shopping cart since none were in the cart storage. Pretty disgusting given how much the store charges for basic items.

Its a fine grocery. Clean and has what I needed.

It was interesting to try and find their canned vegetables. Everything else just a regular Safeway.

It was its usual uneventful shopping experience in Lafayette. Nothing at all special, except they have great parking and there is a Whole Foods located at the opposite end of the plaza.

Definitely cleaned up area. But little intimidating with the dudes waiting at the door with their guns. Are we in a third world country. Nope, Oakland/Emeryville. Get rid of those guys/security.

Hmm well my experiences at Safeway in general are positive. I have always had positive experiences at this particular Safeway, however today I was PREJUDGED to have an issue by a cashier that I will not name. Positive: My wonderful cashier Denise helped me with use my U savings and my in-store extra savings using the Safeway App. I will stick to Denises line and NOT some others. Thanks Denise. You were very professional and helpful and supplied me with great customer service.

Too crowded! Long lines!

Typical Safeway. So so selection, really good prices and specials. They need to direct the self checkout line, people seem to think the aisle is the best place to queue up when there is a TON of space to line up to the left where you wont obstruct anyone (Ive kind of given up on people being intelligent/aware enough to figure it out on their own).

Better now that they have a policy of opening a new checkout if the line at another is longer than 3 people.Better quality produce than trader Joes generally. Also they have a good selection of Organic produce.

Safeway was cool except the lemon cookies were mixed in with the vanilla and I bought the lemon ones and they taste like sh.....something not right. Ill get over it but I wont get over the look on the dude that appeared to take personal offense to my request for a cart. Folks around here do seem to be taken aback when spoken to in a friendly manner. Which brings me to customer service. I have become a little more used to the lack of it here. Im from the southeastern United States and they will talk to anyone they encounter and most will go out of their way to help others, especially strangers. It almost seems competitive amoung Southerners, who can befriend or accommodate the most strang and helpless of citizen found at any location. If they need it or not.Anyway, yall will be ok . Dont get too upset if someone you have never seen happens to raise a hand slightly upward toward you and spout some cultural lingo like hey! showing teeth with the corners of their mouth turned up. Its just called being friendly and is harmless, some folks find it comforting.Thank you to the cashiers today who were unafraid of such greetings and they returned the showing of teeth along with a hearty salutation.Safeway was cool even still.

Need more checkers at busy hours ! Other than that its a good store

Slow checkout as always with Safeway. Only once have been able to go in and cash out quickly.

This is a nice clean Safeway. Produce is fresh and the staff are generally friendly. Lafayette in general is nice.

Compared to other Safeways in the convenient area, this one is the worst managed. My family has reported them in the past for repackaging and or selling of expired meats, lack of trained employees on corporate policies, (including blatant lying when a simple email to corporate says the policy in writing) and selling whole sections of expired foods in detail and with pictures. Even the Safeway with the lowest rating in the area, doesnt have this issue nearly as often and has adopted the less waste policy unlike the Lafayette Safeway. What makes this worse is that this location is a 24/7 store. 24/7 store does not mean that it should be unmanaged as one night supervisor explained to me in my experience.As an example, yesterday night I went into the this safeway at 9:17 pm, 2 hours 43 minutes before the federal law dictates 8 unmarked off (policy is to mark day of meat excluding vacuum packed meats such as hamburger 30% off day of expiration) beef steaks in normal packaging must be thrown out because they are expired. I go to the person in charge at night who was just standing around in the chip aisle fiddling with animal cracker boxes and ask about the specific policy to get the steaks marked down 30% off at the register as per corporate policy. The person in charge proceeds to give an excuse that they are in charge but have no authority over any markdown sales or throwing out of products that are expired when it comes to midnight. The butcher does not come until 8 am at the earliest with the meat manager at the store Ive often been told by the meat techs coming in closer to 10 am. At times when this happens with bulk meat, typically I see Safeway hamburger put in clearance that morning with mixed colors or an over saturated pink to the meat.Of all the people Ive met in the store in the meat section alone for the 24 years Ive lived in the area, they dont check the dates on the products they buy as much as clearance meat disgusts them when I have asked out of pure curiosity or they have told me when I am buying clearance meat. Similar local news stories have come up with Target with baby formula and pet food being several months expired, yet people put their trust in meat and dairy products like the cheese section until they get food poisoning.

Well organized store with plenty of product choices and availability. The reason for giving it 4 stars is that their loudspeaker is very loud and preceded by a startling ringing. Try to avoid a male cashier who is too fast and impatient with seniors.

Five stars are not enough for the staff of the Safeway Meat Department in Lafayette. Yes, the meats are wonderfully prepared as are the other items. However, for me and the birds of Lamorinda, the kindness of the butchers who prepare a packet of beef fat for me to render and use in preparing healthy treats for a variety of birds ..... too many stars to count.

Got in & out of there with my items quickly. Easy to find what I was looking for by reading the aisle signs.

Small town Safeway but very well stocked! Employees are very friendly and their deli department looked solid. I also witnessed an employee making a deli sandwich and it looked damn Good! Will go back for sandwiches!!!

Came in respectful and kind and in turn was treated like a second class citizen during the morning hours. One of the employees must really hate her shift.

This is a newer store! They have an area to sit and relax by the fire. It is a really upscale grocery store.

The store itself always seems to have a good selection of products but big sale items tend to sell out quickly. One product I always seem to miss out on is the Icelandic yogurt because its always on sale and everyone grabs it! My only real complaint, but its a big one, about this Safeway is there are never enough cashiers during rush times. The lines are long and there is no alternative self checkout to help things move faster. Sadly, for this frustration I can only give this Safeway 3 stars. You are okay if you come early morning or late night. It does not compare some other Safeways that I have been too.Edit: this Safeway now has self checkout!!
