Great place! Great staff. Dropped my acoustic off for an adjustment this morning and picked it up at 4:30. They did a super job! I canβt believe how much better the action is! Set me up with some new strings and she sounds and plays amazing. My wife is not going to like this place. π
Reasonable prices for a small store. It had very little inventory though. They showed no customer appreciation like never threw in any extras. I would recommend sweet water sound in fort wayne lot of inventory in stock and great deals too.
This is a genuine rock and roll music store. Theyβve worked on at least half a dozen fretted instruments of mine, all to perfection. The friendly, knowledgeable staff is ready to help. And donβt worry if Purdue is playing β theyβll have the game on in the store.
I love this store! As a New Jersey resident and Guitar enthusiast, I would highly recommend this store. The variety of guitars is PERFECT although I do wish they had a bit more in stock. They seem a bit overloaded with Squierβs when the could probably use a bit more variety in those low-mid range priced guitars. Otherwise this is truly a great place to stop to check out some new gear or just re-up on picks or strings! Love it out here, hail Purdue!!! (P.S. just bought a Rhoads signature from here and they adjusted the truss rod for me before I walked out, thanks guys! Sheβs a gem!)
This place is great! Many different types of instruments new and used and at some of the best prices Ive seen! Also the guys that helped me were super cool and knew everything I had questions about, plus he helped me bring all my stuff out to the car which is a 1st for me!
The staff was very knowledgeable helpful! They understood what we were looking for and we ended up with just the right guitar! They have tons to choose from and even special rooms to try out the instruments.Great place!
Im actually shocked to see good reviews about this place. I went in here to look at their guitars. 2 people who worked there. One young guy behind the counter and one older guy on the floor. The older guy was curt, and had no customer service skills. The young guy behind the counter wasnt any better, but he was fixing...something. I wanted to look at guitars and all the guy could tell me about it was. Yup, thats a guitar. I looked at him like..wth? and he added..great starter guitar OMG, thank you for that great musical revelation. I mean, they know NOTHING. NOTHING. If this place were in business anywhere else besides Lafayette, Indiana they would be out of business. What an embarrassment of a place. Also they dont have much stock and its terribly overpriced. Look elsewhere.
Restrung my brand new Gretsch with a Bigsby and noticed some problems on the bridge. Strings were slipping off. Took it to McGuire to get it looked at, three employees looked at it, and told me I need to work on my attack. The guitar is fine. Told me to go home and file down the bridge until the strings fit.I felt it was unsatisfactory, I had a gig that night. Took it over to Donβs, and they found the problem within 10 seconds. Strung the strings over instead of under. Loss of tension. Rookie Bigsby mistake.
Great local music store, awesome staff and great atmosphere. I would buy exclusively from here if they had a more diverse selection of instrument brands, but a small local store can only carry so much. They can get you anything from the brands they do carry, and also have a few jems from time to time on consignment. Definitely worth checking out.
I took an old Silverstone guitar there and it was so beat up that they recommended a shop to have it reconditioned.
Musical instrument store? Needs to be called a guitar store
I have been going here for years. But today i will never go back. This is by far the worse place in town to shop... the service sucks. I was asked to wear a mask. I have breathing problems. But i went out and got my mask. But i no longer wanted to buy the guitar i was going to buy. I instead would still spend money with them on strings.. but instead they refused me strings because i wouldnt buy the guitar ... go to dons. He is all ways awsome. And cheaper ..
They were helpful, but very little to choose from
Dont come in here often and when I do, it is to buy strings for my violin so I dont have to deal with the snobby people down the street at Quinlan and Fabish. They are super friendly and were very helpful when I went in a few months ago to inquire about guitar lessons. Very chill atmosphere and overall a pleasant place to be in.
Reasonably-priced friendly staff
Ive been going there for 30 years, since a teenager and have bought all kinds of stuff. Went in there today because i was in a pinch. I needed 3 quick connections soldered. Told him the 30 years and in a pinch. No other customers. None, just me. He said his tech would have to look at it and i would have to leave it. Unbelivable....... it would take 10 minutes tops. Done with them
The staff is extremely pretentious. I know I spoke with BJ on the phone. I have bought strings and sticks from them for years. I called to ask questions about what their guitar lessons were like and how they were structured as I am looking for something specific. I asked about note reading and improvisation skills. He was extremely curt with his responses. I asked him if he was being rude on purpose. He stated yes because my questions were βvery basic.β Apparently asking questions before you make a purchase is not acceptable. I found an excellent online instructor that is goal oriented and willing to work with me on a lesson plan and my needs. Do not waste your time and money at this store. Find someone who will work with you that will help make you the guitar player you want to be if you are serious about it.
I wish there was a way to make it a neg 5. The customer service is horrible...for being a small business you would think they would care about customers... i literally had a employee tell me who cares about being American... no American should spend their money here
Walked in and was greeted right away and was helped with my purchase. The young man I spoke to knew exactly what I needed.
Replaced my pickup switch very quickly and even made sure it wasnt another issue. Very fair price too.
Great service. I always get answers about the instrument Im after. When it comes to a teen shifting instruments, there is one salesperson in particular who wont let me down
I have had a great experience of this place. I had my 1st lesson today. Im excited to come back for my next lesson. Awesome experience working with the staff to find me the right instrument for me.
High mark up and not exactly the friendliest
Super friendly staff whom helped me understand things about my guitar
We went there last night. To watch a employee treat a disabled veteran horribly. Never again will we spend our money with them
You can find lots of stuff here for your music needs. If you need quick strings for your guitar. They also string and tune for you for a price if youre new or dont like doing it yourself. Free tip, you might find better deals online at Sweetwater and get it delivered to your house.
Kinda expensive, but its the only local place I can get get drum sticks.
Went in to get help with microphones and other equipment. The guy I talked to pretty much blew me off and just wanted me to go to a website. Said he didnt know much about microphones and neither did anyone else. Ummm youre a music store and the best your employees can do is send me to a website? Ill go somewhere else for my music needs.
When musical genius crosses over to necessity!
Super service and staff they treat you like family. Ask any questions and they take the time to explain everything in detail. 10 stars
My son goes here for guitar lessons and enjoys them greatly. The staff ate friendly and forthright. I had them work on two acoustic guitars and asked about my dubec. They offered honest answers and charged modest rates. I cannot speak to the cost of the instruments themselves
Nice place to find needed guitar stuff
Wonderful βΊοΈπ
My Grandson Ryan takes guitar lessons here, and it has made such a positive difference in his life. So much confidence and a healthy hobby for.life!
Good guitar shop for what it is, small town feel. You get to know the staff which is nice because you dont get that experience in big box stores such as guitar center. The down side is the selection is limited, for example they dont carry very many replacement parts π’ good store I go once or twice a month for nearly 15 years now, so they doing something right .
Super friendly and knowledgeable staff. Fair prices. If they dont have what ya want, they can probably get it for you in a few short days.
Very helpful!
Great selection, some awesome vintage pieces. Staff was very helpful. They have metal thumb picks!
Knowledgeable and helpful staff. Good price.
Very rude! Would not give me the time of day
Have had mixed experiences here. Small shop with decent amount of merchandise to offer. Some staff have been super helpful in the past. Others have acted like surly teenagers who dread giving any advice regarding their product selection. No one in the middle really either really helpful or complete jerks.Theres a review below that says they sometimes seem standoffish and arrogant. Id completely agree. Those are the jerks. Hopefully you come on a day when the super helpful staff are working.
Friendly, local music store with great service!!
We got what we needed but atmosphere was not very happy/energetic.
I have never been made to feel that I was such a burden as a consumer in my life as I did today. I went in to seek guidance and to get things needed for my sons instrument, I was aware that they did not specialize in the instrument that my son played. I encountered an employee that was rude and disrespectful and made me feel that i was bothering him. A true music professional would have provided guidance with a referral to someone or at least respect for a customer. Regardless the money i was saving for my husbands guitar this Christmas will be purchased elsewhere. They do not deserve the 1 star I was forced to put on here to be able to post this
Best music store in the greater Lafayette area. Prices are even competitive with Amazon.
These talented musicians are incredible to work with, very happy with the service we receive from purchasing equipment to private lessons.
Cool, old school, mom and pop music store! Ok selection of decent used gear, prices are fair.
Great staff, knowledgeable, Ive been a customer since 85, still got love for ya...
Such a feeling of opportunity here. For a relatively small space, its not a big box store, its packed with quality instruments, gear, and accessories with knowledgeable staff happy to help or let you browse at your own speed.
Great music store. Staff is super helpful!
The store is great for guitar and drums, I was looking for a violin, the one I wanted was not there but a good place for musical instruments in Lafayette!
Great group! Very helpful and patient. Approached me right when I got there and answered all my questions.
I was about to buy something. I asked the seller a question. He was very rude, so I left. I can only imagine how they treat customers that are just browsing.
Dont even waste your time here. Sells a $12 drumhead for $30. I would drive to Indy, Chicago, or Atlanta before I would come back here!
Limited selection but very friendly staff. I almost always end up in there longer than planned due to getting into conversations with someone. Guitar strings, picks, amps, microphones, stands, drums, etc...
Very helpful and knowledgeable staff as well as a wide selection of instruments for both novice and experienced musicians
I had an excellent experience with the staff, they are well mannered and very helpful. However, I would argue that they are a little to pricey. They sell instrument and mic cables, adaptors, guitar stings, and a few other items at 20-30% more than the other shops in town. Klaverega downtown sells their strings for buy one get one free! And their instrument cables are custom made, still with low prices.I realize people have to make money, but somethings gotta give.
Prices were surprisingly low so I was satisfied with that. Wanted to purchase a guitar for my boy but was not greeted nor asked if I needed assistance in my 20 minutes of browsing.
Staff can sometimes seem standoffish and arrogant. they definitely act as if they are the only store in town. Overall the shop is alright but needs more of a selection of amps and bass. it features a good selection of fenders though, but not much else.
Very welcoming and kind. Helped string my violin for free.
Best staff and beautiful selection
Made time to help me on a busy Saturday afternoon - VERY friendly and helpful! Thank you!!
We got kicked out.. google said they were open til 8 and we got there at 6:45. The door was unlocked and we were browsing when someone came and followed us until we left.
Good people very friendly good deals
Great staff, very helpful, great instructors, great stock. Love coming here to buy instruments or just check out gear
Poor customer service. I would not recommend this place to anyone just starting out in music. Over priced inventory as well.
Love my new guitar and warranty!!
Locally owned and knowledgable staff
They would all rather sit in a circle jerk and complain about guitar saddles. Walking in there with the intent to purchase a guitar amp and cords, I walked out learning that it is more of a wanna be hippy frat boy hangout.
Awsome staff and they do excellent work in guitars.
Technician is very talented. Very friendly and helpful.
They had the item I was looking for and the price was decent.
Amazing place with amazing staff
You can find a lot of stuff
I have been in several times and the staff is extremely knowledgable on whatever your needs are. I can say I am going to return in the future.
#1 destination for a locally owned music shop!
Awesome place, great prices, and nice knowledgeable people.
Not alot for violins but good prices
3 generations in my family have shopped here for quality instruments.
Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Couldnt ask for more.
Nice shop friendly staff.
Great knowledgeable employees
Great experience.
Customer service is wonderful
Great music store.
Best place ever but very expensive
Good
Very friendly and helpful staff
Great friendly staff.
Small selection of overpriced gear. They are basically the only music store in town, and they act like it. Will travel to Indy or Chicago next time
Great selection and lessons
Very helpful friendly workers
Friendly staff but couldnt find the equipment I was looking for.
Good people
!Friendly and helpful!
