Nobody ever likes sending in a product for service or repair, but Light Monkey goes out of their way to make the process as pain free as possible. I sent in my battery pack for repair and it was diagnosed, tested, repaired, and shipped back in just a couple of days and will be delivered well ahead of the date I needed it by. I recently sent my light into Light Monkey for repair. My light just stopped working and when I turned it on it only flashed a single pulse.I requested and received RMA with the following quote, Sorry to hear of the issues but certainly we can get you fixed up and back in the water quickly!! I sent the entire product back for repair on 6/19/2020.On 7/27/2020, I sent an inquiry on the status of my light. On 7/31/2020 I received the following: Sorry for the delayed response on this, the line to get burn tested was longer than I thought but the good news is your battery is fine and we can use it for the upgrade. As mentioned on the phone the other day, unfortunately, we no longer have the electronics available to repair your light head. An upgrade to the 20W LED head is required to get your light back in the water. [I was told over the phone that the light had gone through a burn test, but they had changed computers and required it to be burn tested again because it was difficult to get the data off the old computer.On 7/31/2020, I responded with the go ahead for the job and did they want my credit card for payment now. On the same day I received the following message, When the work is completed, Ms. XXXXX will send an invoice over for payment. You can either call with a credit card at that time or pay through the link in the email. We are currently waiting on new driver boards to arrive and are expecting to have the work done mid next week.On 8/12/2020, I received and email from UPS with a tracking number for my shipment. I did not receive nor hear anything from Light Monkey until I called them today, 9/1/2020 with an update on my light. I talked with a lady via instant messaging. She stated that I need to pay my invoice first. I said what invoice? She said that they sent an invoice already and they are waiting on payment. She then sent me another invoice, but said that it would be from a third party and not Light Monkey. The invoice was increase compared to the agreed upon price. The difference was shipping and sales tax. The details of the invoice appears to show the charging of sales tax on the total price plus the shipping. [The actual sales tax was only on the repair.] The invoice also stated that the light was flooded. The light had not been flooded, but an electronic board went out in the head of the light.I stated I did not think it was fair that I had to pay a price higher than I had agreed to in writing and a very long delay during the diving season. The lady stated that they would not ship the item until the invoice was paid in full and I should not be bullying her.I do not believe that I was bullying the lady via instant messaging, only attempting to state my case as clearly as possible.Thus, I am still waiting on my light. So much for a quickly me back in the water with my light.I am now waiting on my repaired light. I will not buy another product from Light Monkey. Service is gone not up be the level it was a number of years ago when I had my light repaired when I had flooded it.
Not only did I get a great deal, he had no lights in stock when I swung by. I was in a rough spot with students showing up the next day for class. His people sent me on my way with a loaner light and the promise of a new light the next day. They even made a charger for me on the spot for the light I borrowed. Fast forward to the next day and I was out of the water later than expected, but Corey was willing to hang around the shop til I showed up. Stellar service! It was great to talk to him about the industry and his transition from Electrician to the dive gear industry. Great guy to deal with! Id recommend him and his company to anyone looking for quality lights and gear.
