I love the people working at this neighborhood Ace Hardware. They are outgoing, funny, knowledgeable, and they seem genuine about it. If they dont have the answer to my question, they turn and ask another employee and they both get to work on it. They do not try to upsell, or act annoyed. It reminds me of a hometown hardware store. I am impressed, especially since I was able to get everything I was looking for.

I have been in here before and have had great service but this last time I was looking for something for my kitchen faucet and I asked the kid who was standing in the aisle a little further down for some help and he just continued to stand down at the end of the aisle and asked me what I needed so I told him I needed help finding this part for my faucet so he came up and he just started flipping all of the faucet parts saying you can choose this one you can choose this one, this one, this one.. it was so very unprofessional and he acted as if I was bothering him. Definitely wont be asking for his help again!

For years I’ve loved any excuse to come to Ace, always leaving with an armful of garden & houseplants from their wonderful selection. Unfortunately after new ownership took over a couple months ago, the quality has absolutely plummeted. I literally overheard two other people during my last visit commenting on the terrible state of their garden plants. And the “fancy” new houseplant room they created only had about a dozen dying or completely dead plants. Oddly, while quality has plunged, prices have ridden dramatically. I found a half-dead 4” calathea marked at $19.99 and did a quick about-face.Aside from the plants, it feels as though the entire rest of the store has lost all its charm. It’s now just another small chain store and no longer feels like a neighborhood establishment. Even the new name feels disconnected from our little town center. It’s a shame.

Great local hardware store. The screw/nut selection is fantastic and my most-visited part of the store! Great when you need a specialty replacement or just a single screw!

The person I talked to was both friendly and helpful. They didnt have what I was looking for but happy to order it. When I asked about a new service I noticed, knife sharpening, I was given a coupon for 1 free sharpening.

I called ahead of time to make sure they had that item that I needed. I was shocked when the phone rang only once before it was picked up. I was given the correct information which is always nice and upon arriving I was greeted by the same person who happened to answer the phone, and directed me immediately to where I needed to obtain my item and I was out of there in just a few minutes which I love.

Yikes.. they are out of peanuts. So unusual. Normally they have great stock control. My squril friends will be most upset. We will return soon. It is a great shop.

I usually go here before anywhere else because I prefer to keep my money local. Their prices are sometimes extravagant but they have pretty good customer service.

Weve always enjoyed our visits to Town Center Hardware. They have a friendly, professional staff who can help on a variety of levels. Weve found it to be a much more pleasant experience than going to one of the big box hardware stores. They do a great job at key cutting also!

Long story short: If you enjoy only paying for your purchases only one time, and/or being treated decently by the businesses you patronize, I recommend shopping elsewhere.Due to a malfunctioning POS system, I attempted to pay twice for some purchases with my credit card but the transaction would not complete and print a receipt. The manager and clerk were unable to confirm whether the payment had gone through, but didnt think it did. I was moved to another register and I paid cash instead. As I left, the manager assured me that I should just come back if the charges showed up on my card and theyd make it right.The charges did show up on my card, so I went back as soon as possible with the receipt for the cash purchase and a screenshot of the additional charges from my online statement. They would not believe that the charges were really on my card and not just sitting in pending transactions until I logged into my account on my phone (Uncomfortable. Here, random hardware store guy, have a good look at all my spending habits!), and tried to tell me I would need to bring in a paper statement (who gets paper credit card statements anymore?). They also seemed to be somewhat suspicious that I was trying to pull a fast one, even though the clerk (who was not at fault in any way) seemed to remember me from the initial incident. Yeah, sure, I spend all of my free time mocking up elaborate digital credit card statements in order to scam local businesses $64 at a time.The charges were eventually reversed, but I felt the burden for correcting the stores mistake was placed unduly on my shoulders.If you do shop here, I recommend you pay cash, hang on to your receipts, and dont accept their word for anything without some sort of documentation.

I love having this store so close, especially when I dont want to deal with the big box stores. Most of the people are willing to help and are quite knowledgeable. Its surprising how much is in such a small space.

What a find. I didn’t realize this Ace was so close to my house. Visited for the first time today and had a great experience. They have a great variety of merchandise and the staff is very helpful. This is my new goto store.

Bought a Traeger grill, upon getting it home and assembled I noticed there was some damage to the grill. Called them, the following day they delivered a boxed replacement, took it out and checked there was no damage before taking the old one away.They handled this without any hassle they just wanted to do what was needed to make it right for me.I will recommend them to anybody and will shop there again.

Good Hardware, helpful staff, worst, most obnoxious cashiers unimaginable. Reaching for my change before I finish counting, demand I donate 27 cents to charity, force me to punch no on credit card machine while Im still counting cash, do I want bag, paper or plastic, now she grabs my calipers to put in merchandise bag and I still havent managed to settle up!!!! Leave my tool alone, Lady! Next time Im buying a hammer to punch no on the charity declining machine!

Wouldnt take my dead fluorescent tubes because they werent purchased there. Fair enough, but kind of petty. Guy who refused my bulbs just walked away and didnt offer any help, even though store was not busy. I came for a routine part - toilet flapper - and couldnt find a match.I suspect its pretty much an average Ace, but I have to say I left annoyed.

Love our little local hardware store. They have most hardware basics, nice gardening gear (with master gardeners on site to consult with on weekends) and nice gifts choices too.

This is not a hardware store, its a cheap trinket to fill your apartment with store. I have been in here multiple times looking for all different kinds of hardware only to be told repeatedly that they dont have that but should, Im done. Its just more of the progression away from hardware stores to home improvement stores. Little projects and cheap trinkets, no serious pluming, electrical, etc. Sad

Rude folks.This store shows as a Ace hardware store and as such I expected to return item that I had purchased a week earlier from a near by Ace store here. First the csr said they dont carry this product here so they cant accept the returns. I told him I saw the product in their aise;he demanded I show it to him so I showed him the aisle where they carried the product; upon showing he said he still cant accept it. The manager I spoke to came shaking his head saying he wont accept the return.There was no politeness in the way they treated the situation.So Notice to folks like me who think Ace hardware is same like home Depot or better for returns: it is not, it is bad. You have to do return in same store.2ndly town center location needs some people skills.Also, just perhaps, maybe, or may be not,some diversity training because I could see the difference in treatment.I am gonna call ace corporate and Inquire about their returns policy.

Its a hardware store. Went in tbe other day needed some stainless steel screw, and some other things. Went to the register to pay. My chip in my company card would not work there. So i said run it three time and reader will then say swipe. Then kristen said no we cant do that, per the owner wont allow seipes only chip. She then said give me a another card or you can go to an atm. Im not putting work stuff on my personal card. I asked to speak to the owner or manager she gave me his name and phone number. With customer service like that I can see the future for this place is fading, I will never step foot in that store again and will pass the word to others . Places like this one make it easy for home depot to succeed.

Racisit Treatment. When I went to their store in the past i had an experience of decent assistance and a succesful purchase. With that in mind I thought, this place is great, next time Ill come again. Next time was different, I went with my father to get sanding paper and compost for the garden. As we were getting ready to go an elderly employee approaches us and starts making comments about how spacious our Ford Expedition looked and wether the interior was decent for a large crowd. Apparently, some 40-50 year old woman went in and told them we maybe stealing. Ive been there before and I knew we had not been acting strangley or done anything wrong. So it came down to the fact 2 black men were loading stuff in their car and it looked suspicious to some 40 year old white lady. Aces Town Hardware store in lakeforest, has biased opinions about there colored customers. Would it have been too hard to double check with the register before coming out and pulling some ham handed crap acting. If you black be careful going into this store.
