I went to this place as a recommendation, also because the reviews seemed great, nothing but positive things about this place so I figured I would give them a try. I needed a motor swap, my old one was no good, I had the motor already purchased I just needed the labor. I was quoted $1200 for a Honda motor swap, not including fluids, so about $1300 total. I was told because the motor was Japanese that it would not be a direct fit, and the manifolds would have to be replaced as well, which seemed odd. I asked around multiple shops in Bakersfield and all of them told me, there is no difference, the motor should just fit right in. In my researching I ended finding a shop that did the work for $600, fluids included, I couldve had it done for $500, however that shop was backed up 3 weeks and I need the vehicle running sooner rather than later for work related reasons, my car is back on the streets running perfect now. All said, I would recommend people do some research around other shops before making this place final and spending their hard earned cash

I dropped my car off so he could fix it. My dad took his car there and he recommended him. He was so nice and helped me right away. I didnt have to stand around waiting for someone to notice me. The next day he called and told me what had to be done and gave me a price and he said it should be ready by tomorrow afternoon. Ill know tomorrow for sure but Im giving him 5 stars up front.

I have been a loyal customer, over 40 years. Back when it was just Al, Carl & Kurt. I trust these guys with mine & my families lives. I have referred numerous friends whom have the same trust in Cartwrights. One thing for sure they are as honest as can be & they will not sell you something you do not need, and if they tell you something else is wrong and needs to be fixed, you dont have to second guess their diagnostic. I cant say enough good about them. Just some hard working good ole honest guys. I am moving 3&1/2 hrs away & I will still make the drive to Lamont .

Worth the drive out to lamont from Bakersfield for me. My entire family has been taking our vehicles to Carl for 30+ years and I plan never to go elsewhere. Many times during an oil change I have had services suggested by mechanics here in town, only to take it out to Cartwright and assured my trucks and cars didnt need the suggested work done. They are a very honest, dependable, and trustworthy. Pricing is extremely fair.
