Most excellent hardware store. They have a little bit of everything if you dont pay attention you can miss lots of things. I have a rather extensive antique collection in the back of the store it is an awesome nostalgic experience. Also has a quite an extensive collection for anybody it is in the Hobby World such as airplanes helicopters model cars things of that nature

Stopped by for some cider making equipment. They have a very good collection of brewing, wine and cider stuff. A good assortment of refrigerated yeasts too. While exiting, my attention drifted toward dozens of containers with live monarch butterflies in various stages of their life cycle. I was given extensive info on milkweed and monarch relationship. I left with a live butterfly to release and many milkweed seeds of various varieties.

This is a great hardware store with a little bit of everything. New and old hand tools, power equipment, home goods, hobby, nuts and bolts, paint and electrical. Very friendly staff

Went in for a couple high security keys 🔑 and 💥 boom 💥 2 keys 2min in and out love this place if you cant find it somewhere else its because you should went to SLATERS in the fist place! The staff is so nice I will go to this gem of a hardware store alot!

The very nice gentleman that helped me not only took me the location of what I was looking for but showed me an installation short cut that saved me time and what would have been a nasty clean up. This is why I prefer small business. Personal service !

Great little local hardware store! They have all sorts of things, not just tools and the usual hardware things. They also cut and program chip encoded car keys!!! Lots to see in there....

They were able to copy a rare motorcycle key that nobody in Cbus was able to, including a bunch of locksmiths! Really neat, family owned store. Worth the drive!

This place is amazing! The customer service is outstanding and the knowledge they have on everything is second to none.Went in with 2 older shower valves stems and they knew what they were without fully looking at them. I just wish the big box stores were like this place.

Locksmith services were reasonably priced. I brought my ignition to my motorcycle and a replacement key was made quickly.

Usually always have what other hardware store dont. A little more expensive, but with the customer service and the idea of patronage of a locally owned business makes it all worthwhile.

Like a step back in time. Dont think it has changed much since it started in this building, that being said the customer service is outstanding. Took a safe to see if they could open it, they came to car and carried it in as it was very heavy. Told me if they couldnt open it there would be no charge. Their employees are very knowledgeable and helpful.

Went for a monarch Chrysalis for my daughter. Just learned about these. So cool the cashier was so cool she explained and walked me through all their steps and gave me a little book that explains more about monarchs. She said about 10 days and wed have a butterfly. If you have young kids this is awesome!

This place is awesome if you are looking for something off the wall but not a sweeper belt.

I’ve been in here a few times, and every time the staff didn’t take me seriously, and spoke condescendingly.

Theyre quite expensive especially compared to big box stores, but their selection of products (both modern and antique-ish) is insane. One 15 minute trip reminded me why this place is STILL in business after all these years.

There should be more hardwares like Slaters.Literally anything is available.The staff also knows about the product.Doesnt require someone to read the package then try to explain - which generally they cant.Always helpful, always professional.

If you need whatever it is they can get the part or have it there. The monarch butterfly display is the best. Take youre kids to see it. They have all the stages of there development. Im 69 and get excited about it. Also, did I say they are very helpful.

The hardware store is pretty awesome. Most of the staff is incredibly nice and knowledgeable. BUT, Jackie who deals with the rentals is horrible and money hungry. You have to pay $20 before you can look at a rental, just to be denied right after. If your unfortunate enough to be accepted and able to rent, your have just signed up to rent from SLUMLORDS!! If they took as much care of their apartment units and leasees as they do their hardware store, things would be amazing. Unfortunately, Jackie is not going anywhere to soon.

Slaters is just such a great Lancaster business, just from the history within its walls. They have pretty much any hardware you can think of. Such great owners and employees.

I don’t have an issue with the hardware store in and of itself and some of the employees are actually very nice, but there are some extremely rude people who work there. It is a family owned business who also rent out apartments. These are individuals related to the family who deal with the tenants who only care about collecting rent...and not at all for the individuals paying them that rent. If you are even a day late they serve you with an eviction notice (even if you let them know beforehand rent will be a little late) and you aren’t even given a week to leave the premises before they involve the courts. If you lose your job or go through hard times, they aren’t at all willing to work with you. On top of that they don’t even try to fix anything. You’d be better of paying to get the furnace/water heater/etc fixed yourself. Most requests for maintenance are ignored. I don’t think I’ve heard one positive thing said about the behavior of the people who rent out these apartments. These small apartments are about $600/month. In certain areas of the state you could rent an entire house for almost the same price. Other than being quite small, I have no complaints about the apartments themselves. But please be forewarned...IF YOUR JOB/HOURS ARE IN ANY WAY INCONSISTENT...THESE APARTMENTS ARE NOT FOR YOU. You’d be better off renting through an apartment complex, because at least they’d be more likely to work with you if a job falls through. And if you move in during a heat wave, bring some window ac units because the ac doesn’t work and they will not fix it. In fact, they likely won’t even tell you before you move in.

If I ever need to go on a short shopping trip for some small hardware supplies Slaters is the place to go. Great service too. Just be sure to put how many of each thing you have and the price of it, they dont have a scanner or anything. A little old fashioned as one of the employees said, honestly a great little place of you need a quick trip for some super glue or something small like that.

I as a female love going into Slaters. Ive been going in there for over 40 years. Always an adventure. From raising Butterflies to a unusual kitchen gadgets at the counter or nearby. Everyone has that hometown welcome. Very friendly.

Slaters is a multi-generational hardware store where they will take 20 minutes to find you a $0.05 nail. If they dont have it they will get it. It is truly the best hardware store I have ever been in or could imagine experiencing. The fact that they have very little turnover in staff tells you quite a bit right there.

If you need something, save time and go here first. The people who established this store are deeply missed, however it is still owned by the same family. They just arent as friendly as they were back in the day. Their selection is crazy though...and pretty thorough. It amazes me at all they have crammed in that place.

Excellent customer service. Steve Slater answered the phone when I called. I own a landscape construction company in Austin, TX, and needed the concrete sphere mold set asap. Steve customized an order to fit my rushed request and were going to stay on track with our project. Now I suppose, as a single mother of two, Ill need to get into a Strong Man Fitness Routine. Ha! Would recommend these folks and Im happy to do have done business with a local company, states away from me.

What ever you are looking for even if it has not been manufactured in a long time they may have a couple. And the have a great help desk!

The best locally owned hardware you will ever find. Find Lee Nixon and he will fix you up with whatever you need to get your job done.( just dont ask him for dance lessons)..unlike the big box retailers up the road this family really wants you as a life long customer and you will know that when you leave. Dont get me wrong, on Saturdays when they are busy you might have to wait your turn, but there are tons of things to look at while you wait. You should come here first, but if you dont and you cant find it, or your sick of being treated like customer #1,345,357 of the day. Save yourself some time and frustration and stop here.

It is a big hardware store that has more than your looking for.They even have several classes for customers to take.Screen and lamp repair.They even have a small strong man competition area with lifting stones(Slater stones)
