Enjoyed my first visit here and tried what may be the best grilled cheese sandwich Ive ever had! It had several cheeses as well as some light savory herbs. Served on the side were slices of radish and zucchini, plus some seasoned chips. The price is higher, at $12.00 but in my book, it was worth it.Inside, the place is adorable, having a bit of a French bistro feel. Outside has a few nice, classy seating arrangements.Service was friendly and mentioned that I should come back to try their breakfast and brunch. After taking a look at the menu, I certainly will! Cant wait to come back!
What a really great addition to the downtown area. The first thing you notice walking in is the incredible interior decor. The place oozes cozy and welcoming. A great place to hang out comfortably with friends or clients. The lunch menu is perfect. A delicious blend of not so typical yet comfortable sandwiches. And of course the pastries are to die for. Try the scones or the quiche. And be sure to say hello to the delightful owner, Cari, and her highly competent staff!
Amazing service and food. The bread is hands down AMAZING and I am so bummed to have been without it for so long. Some of the best baked goods in town - get your hands on the blueberry goat cheese scones ASAP!!
This place is so cute and chic! The food was exceptional. Great quality and value. The service was slow, but I later learned that several staff were very new and in training. The wait was worth it though because I devoured my sandwich. The manager was so nice to give us a pastry to take home with us as a token of gratitude for our patience. I will definitely be back.
Sloooow service just for a coffee. Locally owned so Id like to try again and I hope they are not closed for good! Especially with new apartments and Marriott across street.
Tried Batter Up Bistro for the first time today. I cant believe I hadnt heard about this amazing place before. Not only is the atmosphere and decor beautiful and cozy, the food and service was fantastic. Marie, our waitress, was beyond friendly and attentive. The Omelettes and potatoes were absolutely delicious and plentiful. Loved their music choice too. I cant wait to go back!
Went for Saturday brunch and were so happy we did. Loved our food - the bread and breakfast potatoes were especially amazing! Good, friendly service and we enjoyed the cool bistro vibe. Small menu but the food is high quality. Will definitely be back!

Every time I eat here, I am reminded how extraordinary it is. The ingredients are fresh and delicious; the Greek omelette is quite frankly to die for and the potatoes are just fantastic. I’m a bit of a foodie. I’ve had my places I’ve loved to eat wherever I’ve lived (Virginia, Florida, Connecticut etc) and this place ranks right up at the top. Thanks for the coffee, the great service, and the food, oh the food!!
Walked in and instead of being greeted with a Good Morning or a Welcome. I got Can I help you with something? Delivered in a tone as if I was a bother for even walking in. After seating myself I asked for a menu in which they gave the lunch menu. When I asked for the breakfast menu the attitude given was as if I was once again bothering her. This was at 8:15 in the morning. I was the only customer. Why did I deserve to be treated that way? Couldnt have been my appearance as I am dressed business casual. The food was great. The service was horrible. I will not be back and expressed as much when I signed the slip.
My wife and I visited Batter up on her birthday. The atmosphere was great and the food was better than I could have expected anywhere. Thanks for the friendly and comforting service. We went back today and felt like we were home. Bring your family, friends, co-workers or even your enemies. Try the Bed head BLT! The portions are generous, so bring your appetite or get ready for second lunch.
Love this place & hope they can reopen soon, even if it’s only takeout.
Nice inventive menu. Always some tempting bakery items. Love this locally owned and original breakfast spot. Always easy to find parking on the weekends. Service is quick and super friendly. Also have done small group business meetings over food here. They do a great job of hosting, if we check first.
The food was amazing the reason I did not give it five stars was the service and the wait to get the food on a Tuesday morning when there was only a couple of customers in there the waitress picked up my coffee to refill it and gave it to another customer nobody came to the table apologize to nothing. She also never refilled my water or gave us sugar or cream, utensils with our coffee we had to ask
Almost every Saturday, my mom and I like to have breakfast together! I was super excited to try this place out, since neither of us had ever been there before! When we walked in, the place was SUPER cute and lady who greeted us seemed nice. She told us to have a seat where ever. Well, all tables were occupied, so we sat on the couches, waiting for a table to clear. After a table cleared, we went and sat down. After about 10-15 minutes of patiently waiting, enjoying the music that was playing and chatting with my mom about the decor, a blonde lady came over to us and rudely asked us if we were coming or going. We said coming. She then proceeded with an attitude and said they usually have customers wait until a table is ready. 100% understandable! I told her that we were told to have a seat wherever. Her response was, she would talk to the other lady who told us to have a seat. After she walked away, I looked at my mom in shock. The table next to us leaned over and said that waitress was also rude to them. I understand people have bad days, but I didnt want her bad day to affect my good day. So we got up and left. Im sad we didnt get to try out a new place.
Food was presented well, and the food was very fresh, different types coffee drinks and fresh pastries. The chef is the owner. A delightful woman who takes pride in her restaurant. The staff was outstanding. We will return.
This place is incredible, their sandwiches made with fresh baked bread are a must have. The owner took our order and served us so it has a lovely small cafe vibe. 11/10 will return again.
They have have done a great job restoring the inside to its original appearance. The atmosphere is very inviting and intimate. The classic omelet was awesome. Toast was actually buttered. Definitely will go back.
Our first visit for lunch today. We loved the atmosphere & our food was delicious. Service was excellent. It was a delightful experience. We will definitely return.
Batter Up Bistro is a true gem of a cafe! They offer a limited menu with only a handful of breakfast options and about a dozen items on the lunch menu. But that is because each item is handcrafted by an attentive and talented chef, who will check in with you after your meal is delivered to insure satisfaction. They also have a nice selection of delicious pastries and make an awesome iced latte. Everything is scratch made with high quality ingredients and impressive attention to detail. The staff obviously love the restaurant and are invested in making your dining experience fantastic. Do yourself a favor and give this place a try!
Its a very chic, upscaled and comfortable bistro with very tasty breakfast fare. Lots of healthy options including fruit, eggs, nuts and berries, drinks etc. Im interested in checking out the lunch and dinner menus.
Maria was our waitress and she was top notch....the owner was cooked our food and the ingredients were fresh and delicious. I will be back for more the food and service was spectacular.
Totally Amazing! Best omlett and coffee I have ever had. We called the chef out to give him a hug and thank him for preparing such awesome food!
Lovely atmosphere, amazing catering and event hosting! Cari, the owner, makes all her bread in house, cooks and serves with her staff! She is a lovely woman and proud to run her business in Lansing! Highly recommended for any event or day out!
You have to check it out! Delightful hole in the wall breakfast spot. Excellent coffee and food.
Great experience, excellent service, and food. The interior is beautiful. I would like to see more options on the menu for food, but was high quality all around.
Great lunch place. Nice atmosphere. Waitstaff pleasant. Lunch menu has several vegan options. Good meal.
Food can not be beat. Fantastic all around. The chips are amazing.
We absolutely love this place! The atmosphere is great, the service is exceptional, and the food is incredibly FRESH and tasty!! Certainly a “must-go” if you’re ever in Lansing! ☕️☺️
Wow! Great REAL(healthy ingredients) food. Very fair prices for what you get. Cool atmosphere in the stadium District.
Cute little spot, old world feel inside. A bit overpriced for bread and pastries. Espresso was good but crescent wasnt amazing.
A lovely small place. Delicious food. I was there for lunch, but want to try it again for breakfast.
This place was awesome!! The breakfast menu was fabulous! We had the BLT and classic omelette.....both were made fresh and looked and tasted so good.
We came here for brunch after church. Very relaxed and comfortable atmosphere with terrific sandwiches!
Great food and ambiance..definitely going again..eat local!!
My best buddy and I had the original omelette today. Flawless! Carmelized outside, soft creamy inside and cooked through. Onions and cheese perfect flavor and proportions. Big fresh blackberry and orange slice and microgreens garnish. The bread is rich and dense and slightly nutty in flavor, and drenched in fresh butter. The coffee is unreal and comes with your in container of real cream. Beautiful setting. Very clean. All the details of the decor down to the wrapping of the silverware bundles are professional and gorgeous. And not crowded ... Yet!
Our favorite breakfast spot in Lansing. Super fresh and flavorful, great coffee, insanely delicious baked goods, and perfect homey atmosphere. ALWAYS get extra potatoes!
Fabulous breakfast, best gluten free bread I have eaten in years! Great service and cozy atmosphere.
Enjoyed brunch. Great omelets. Homemade bread was delicious.
This place is crazy amazing! Great service, wonderful for, great ambiance. Our new favorite spot for our team breakfast!
I was searching for new breakfast places to try so I stumbled upon this one. It was very appealing online and from the outside and first walk in. There was a sign to seat yourself so my friend and I did, after several minutes of sitting without being greeted we went to ask for a menu, the employee was extremely rude about it and several more minutes pass until we got the menus. We asked for water and coffee almost immediately and we were given our coffees only and weren’t checked on for quite a while. When our food came we still asked for water a couple more times we finally got them after about 15 minutes of waiting (we wanted water from the beginning of being there to have a drink with our meals other than coffee) we were basically done eating at that point. I’ve read reviews with poor service on here and we got that in full effect. The food was good, but the rude/slow/forgetful service ruined the entire experience. Mind you, it was not busy nor was there ever an apology said about any wait times or forgetting. If they could stay consistent with the service this place will succeed, without it, there’s not much to it.
Delicious Food and Great service. Very comfortable and relaxing atmosphere.
Amazing flavors will assault your palete. This place is amazing. Definitely go here. Bakery, breakfast sandwiches and lunch.
Our new favorite place for breakfast! Delicious food, friendly service, and a lovely setting.
Nice, locally owned, stopped in for coffee a couple of times, freshly baked goods. Excellent ambiance
Fun shop with great bread, good food, huge portions, and yummy cookies. Service is a little slow but it is worth the wait!
My Friday morning to Go was outstanding in my Warren MI office. Cari your the best and your cooking is phenomenal!
Great chicken salad sandwich but pricey
Food was fantastic, but super slow.
Charming bistro with the comfort and feel of being at home. Delicious food and great coffee...oh and dont forget the fresh baked goodies!
Hopefully youre here for good food, and want it two hours from now.
This was a nice little find. Great service...great food.
Why is 1 the lowest?? Thursday a little before noon my family and I attempted to eat lunch here. Two tables had patrons eating, and we were the third table. After ordering our food, about 20 min later, the cook came to the table. He said he could only make one of the COLD chicken salad sandwiches we ordered because they were out. We ordered a different sandwich and waited another 15 minutes to be served. In total we waited 35 minutes for the cook to make 4 sandwiches. The food arrived, and the bread on all of our sandwiches was extremely hard and dry (possibly overcooked), like crouton hard. We attempted to pick apart the sandwiches and continue eating until my daughter bit into a hair in the chicken sandwich. At this point we were all turned off and I called the staff to the table. The cook returned and indicated he had an incident in the kitchen and that he was making sure none of that got in our food. He was wearing a glove with visible blood on the glove. I asked if he was ok, he replied he was fine. He said, Also, I wear a hairnet, but sometimes small hairs still makes their way in and I dont know how 🤨 He left and the waitress returned and offered to remake the sandwiches. We declined, indicating the problem with the bread and hair. We demonstrated how hard the bread was, and she tried to argue it was soft in the middle. We told of the hair and she said, What color was it? He wears a hair net so IDK how that would happen... we said blonde (her hair was blonde). She said, Well his hair isnt blonde.... We consumed 2 lattes, a cold tea (they were also out of ice), 1/2 an Italian sandwich, 2 bites of a chicken salad sandwich, 1 bite of a different chicken sandwich, 1 bite of a grilled cheese, and some chips. We were given a bill for $37.10 - which was a discount!?!?! This is a great place to get a drink with no ice & a $15 hairy sandwich on day old, overcooked bread from a inconvenienced waitress and a cook with bloody gloves! Enjoy!
Excellent spot for breakfast and lunch. Dont sleep on the pastries! And the breakfast potatoes are ridiculously good.
Limited brunch menu, but we had tasty huge sandwiches.
Adorable ambiance, delicious food and wonderful staff. My new favorite local foodie choice!
Fresh, yummy food and very friendly service! My new favorite morning coffee stop.

Beautiful place with wonderful food!
The best grilled cheese sandwich in the whole world
Food is great, but always slow.
Great understated atmosphere, excellent food, sincere good service and a great temptation to try each of the menu items over time. When you go ask to see their semi-steampunk cash register!
Great place to have a grilled cheese, fantastic personal service. Will most certainly come back when in town.
As you have your meal here you will see that every item was made with a true chefs passion.
