I brought my wifes Jeep in to have the hood and surrounding area repainted. Franks was the low end price of what of what I had expected to pay, but the midrange price of what I had been actually quoted. I overvalued the work based on my expectations of what would be done.Frank called me on a Friday stating that the vehicle was ready. After leaving work, but prior to going to the hospital to see my wife that had just had a lung removed, I went to pick up the Jeep. The paint job on the hood looks like crap [description to follow.] Frank asked me what I though and I said it was fine, paid him, and left. I didnt have the time for any drama. The defects in the paint job are as follows:The sanding marks are clearly visible through the paint. Ive done a lot of sanding in my life and the scratches look like about 120 grit. The clear coat ran has a large run on the drivers side of the hood. The paint doesnt match very well. Im not referring to the situation where the paint color is different depending on the light, or on how the light is reflecting off of the surface at particular times, I mean it just doesnt match.Im not going to give Franks the opportunity to correct it. If I had a minor problem, I would. The correction for this lousy job would be a total redo. So, I couldnt trust the guy to do a half decent job when he was getting paid, Im certainly not going to trust him to do it correctly when he isnt.P.S. He didnt bother to mask the side marker light bulbs, theyre red now.
