Not sure why this place has gone downhill. The owner(?) seems to have a problem with people that don’t look like him. I used to like this place. Honestly until this last year I did. But the last couple times I come here I feel like I’m being profiled. Followed around the store, etc. It’s unfortunate that there are a couple cool people that work there. The armorer or older gentleman in the back is super knowledgeable and I liked the other workers from a couple years ago. Go to Red Dot instead.

I bought my favorite gun there but Im hesitant to go back because of the inconsistent way the staff can be. Staff can be a coin flip on who you get as they do have some very helpful people but they also occasionally have someone who acts crazy/hostile.

These guys are great! I went in with some questions about finishing an AR-15 build. They had all the parts on hand that I needed, as well as the know how. They showed me what I needed, and after I purchased the tool and parts they walked me through the process in the shop. Shout out to Jacob for taking the time to walk me through getting my AR put together.

Bought an awesome pistol from these guys on August 16, 2021. They did not have an extra magazine in stock so I headed over to impact guns to pick up an extra mag. while there I found the same pistol for about $35 less. Mind you, this was less than 24 hours after I bought the pistol from them, I called and asked if they could do a price match or credit or something. They basically told me there was nothing they would do since I’ve already purchased and they have my money. Not even an offer of range time or willing to credit me back any of the price difference. Not terribly happy with the customer service experience. Looks like I’ll be buying things elsewhere from now on, as their prices are about 5-10% higher

I had a great experience at Get Some. I was looking for a new red dot and Nick helped me find exactly what I needed. Not only was Nick knowledgeable and friendly, he also helped me mount it. This was super helpful because I’m traveling and am limited on tools. Great place. Great staff. 10/10 would have a beer with any of the guys that work there.

The indoor range here is amazing. I had never gone to a range that allows you to shoot calibers up to 50bmg. That’s insanely cool. Not to mention the staff and environment is super friendly. Will be coming back!

I walked into Get Some after having a poor experience with Red Dot Firearms in Layton. I had recently inherited some firearms and was looking to sell them. I waited to be helped because all of the sales people were busy helping other customers. When I was greeted by a friendly salesperson, I asked my question. The sales person took the time to clearly explain to me that the laws governing this type of transaction had recently changed, making it more difficult to accomplish. Get Some did not have the capacity to comply with current law, and therefore could not complete this transaction. The salesperson then went on to suggest ways for me to accomplish this, even though there was no direct benefit to the business. The salesperson even continued to inquire about what I was selling and offered some pricing strategies to extract more value from them.I could not be more impressed with this young man. I only wish I had gotten his name so that I could praise him specifically. If he ever reads this review, I hope he knows who he is, and that he is doing an extremely good job. I will definitely be giving this place my business. They have earned my trust.Aside: I hope you guys find a way to buy used guns again. You know how healthy those margins are.

Manager is rude. The lines are unbelievably long and theres no rush to help anyone out. I hated this place the first time I came here, and I can confirm my hatred after my second time here. There will definitely not be a 3rd time. Other locations are much better but this one is absolute trash.

I really like this range! The staff is great and very helpful. They usually have some really good deals on guns and their ammunition is reasonably priced. The only downside to the range is that the target track is old and outdated.

Needed a holster super last minute for work the next day, but they were completely out of the type I needed! The most awesome employees came through and gave me one of their own personal ones! Forever grateful and a customer for life!

I was put in a lane against the wall where the ventilation blew the target back and forth about a foot in each direction (I have it on video). Not even making it feasible for target practice. When I asked the employee if I could switch lanes, he said I’d have to go back to end of the waiting list. Worst experience I’ve ever had at a gun range. Don’t waste your money with this outfit. Best ranges are TNT and Park City Gun Club. “ Get Some” isn’t even in the same league. What they need to “get” is some serious customer service training.

Excellent customer service! Every time I have been in all my questions are answered the staff is super knowledgeable, patient and genuinely want you to have a good time. A special shout out to Dave he taught me so much! I felt like I had a private lesson every time. I just purchased my first firearm and Dave was there every step of the way. Thank you so much!

During the summer its too hot in the firing range. The owner should put some kind of cooler and more people would shoot there. No wonder its empty during the day.Even though, i love this range and the people there are friendly and makes the atmosphere like no other range.. or store. Simply Utahs best!!

I would not recommend going this gun range. There was a bunch of ricochet coming back towards us on the range! Almost full size bullets! Customer service is fine if you need to buy ammo or guns, but the range is not safe!

Another employee said they have been having a lot of ricochets but dont know why. They straight robbed me of my money and dont really care about public safety evidentially.We looked around after this incident in the range and found a handful of ricochets. I would like to warn everybody to use caution until they fix the issue.Wow!

I didnt like the sales guy. I needed information on long range rifles. He showed me one rifle. He didnt know anything about where to get more information, he didnt show me other rifles. He didnt have any information about different types of long distance ammo, ECT. They do have a nice range, but I was really turned off by the whole thing. Im ex military and ex police and I felt like the employee I talked to just blew me off. Im a serious collector and Im getting into long range shooting as a hobby after I retired. I didnt go back and try a different sales person and I didnt talk to the owner so my experience is based on one sales person and one experience. You might have better luck, but I was really turned off by the whole thing. I bought a 700 win mag that week, but at a different gun store.

Nice selection of guns and accessories. Rude staff. I came in 30 minutes before close because I really wanted to test one of my guns. The guy at the range counter said Are you sure you want to shoot? You only have 10 or 15 minutes. I said yes. He was then flippant and said to fill out a waiver. When I came back out to get another target 10 minutes later, no one was covering the range counter. Everyone was over at the sales side, they saw me and they ignored me until I walked over there and asked for help. Other complaint is the air quality. Ive been here a few times and I always have a hard time breathing. Maybe invest in better ventilation?? Other ranges seem to not have this problem. Anyways, Im done going to this range/store. I hope they loose enough business to take notice and turn their act around.

I went to a first time gun owner training class here. It was taught by a female named Sarah. She was so good. She knew her stuff, was very helpful in the class as well as on the range. She made me feel like I knew what I was doing. Thanks, Sarah for all your help.

Ive been to a lot of gun shops in northern Utah but Get Some is my absolute favorite one. Every time I walk in the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable regarding any questions I might have. I live in North Ogden and I drive out of my way to visit them when I need any work done on my guns or need any sort of accessories/parts. I recommend these guys to all my family and friends every time they ask me for a good gun shop to visit. I want to give a big thanks to these guys for actually having great customer service when another gun shop in the area had terrible customer service, theyve got a customer for life because of it. Anyone in the area I recommend they visit Get Some!

Stopped in to pick up a Judge but ended up going with the S&W Governor after comparing the two. Overall the store was nicely stocked, clean and the staff was friendly. The salesman that helped me, Connor S., was very patient and knowledgeable. From the bat I told him I had a good idea of what I wanted but I still wanted to look at guns I wouldnt buy today. He showed me everything I wanted to see and I ended up upgrading from the gun I initially went in to buy. Needless to say I have already picked out the next gun and I will go back to Get Some Layton and ask to deal with Connor again. I just moved from Commiefornia so this experience was a huge upgrade. I have been to other local shops and I have been in to Get Some before as well. Never bought, just looked. What brought me back was the location and the customer service I received at other shops. To be honest I was about 65% committed to buying a gun today. The customer service I received is what sealed the deal. Thanks Get Some Layton.

Called for information & they just said check the website. Couldve done that will out calling. Website was ok, but I had specific questions that couldnt be answered by the website. If theyre not interested in my money, I can surely go some place else. The one in Murray treated me well when I was there & I spent $3000.00. Guess Layton does well enough they dont need my money.

I have nothing but good to say about the Layton Get Some Guns and Ammo.When I first visited there about two years ago I had very little knowledge about guns and very little experience shooting. To be honest, I was very uncomfortable around guns. But, Mike and several other employees very willingly answered all my questions. They never made me feel stupid just because I hadnt own guns in the past. I purchased a 9mm Smith & Wesson M & P Shield from them based on their recommendation and looking at and shooting several of their guns. Their price was below the exact same used gun on Utah Guns website from multiple sellers. Plus, I got a 30 day membership to shoot on their range for free with my purchase.Since then I also took my concealed carry class from Mike Warren. The class was packed, but Mike was a great teacher and answered all of our questions.I have absolutely loved going to Get Some Guns & Ammo and tell all my friends and family to go there.Thanks for making it such a great experience.

Great selection of guns and ammo and the range is decent.But the staff is where my main complaint lies. They are super unfriendly, seem to not really care. Two guys working last time I went in, one on range computer other at gun counter. Didnt get a hello, or a well be right with you, nothing. Ignored for 15 minutes before anyone even approached me. Really sad experience.I remember when this place was Salvo Guns, and they were awesome. Truly a shame that theyve gone so poorly on their customer service.

I have been a member for over a year. Nice, great helpful guys one day, Next day, was a unholy mess, One rude dude can make all the difference. I had bought a Revolver and it was messed up, the cylinder was miss aligned, and the cylinder release was stuck. So no help that day at Get Some. Talking to Impact and Smith and Edwards, decided to send it back to the factory. Weeks later I texted the company, Get some has had it for more then three weeks. They did not call me or notify me in any way. I had to chase down someone, to just talk to. Some times there are good people there, Not that day! I just bought a new membership. I think Someone should look at how some ?workers? just should not be there! That day, I regret buying the new membership. How many have just left, because of an A$$whole, that just is mean. Is he family with the manager?? A manager or owner should look at this guy,,,How much has he cost you?? In sales, and in (lack of) service. I would say a Whole lot. You can contact me.

We live in Utah County but we always go down to the Layton Get Some Guns. They always treat us amazingly well. Mel is our go to guy as he has so much knowledge and hasnt steered us wrong on any advice, range tips, and suggestions. I recommend this store and Mel to everyone!!! A++++

Outstanding service at Get Some! Ive bought a few firearms from these guys and each employee there is down to earth and is more than willing to work with you and get you exactly what your looking for. They also hooked me up and helped me out big time when the heat shield on my ar15s barrel broke. Wouldnt go anywhere else! I would definitely recommend these guys to anyone looking to buy a firearm or accessories for your fire arms.

I was in town visiting and stopped in to check it out. Not somewhere I would return too.Store is oddly dark, everywhere but behind the gun counter.Inventory is decent.Staff sucks. Know it all mall ninjas. They were all in a debate about carry ammo, touting off stuff they have read as facts. Telling each other how most police dont know what firearm they carry on and on.

Though Get Some Guns & Ammo is filled with all the guns you could want, and ammunition, and a firing range - I am not sure that I would ever go back. I have never owned a handgun before, and I trusted that the people there would direct me on the right path to what would work for me in obtaining a conceal carry weapon that would fit well for me. However, though I mentioned quite a few things that I wanted and did not want, I was pressed into getting a weapon that (Overall) I have not been pleased with. I did find another place that I will be taking my purchases to in the future. As a woman, unfamiliar with weapons, I was treated just like that - like I had no clue what was going on. They pressed me to get something that I was not familiar with and not comfortable shooting, and was not what I had asked for (I was looking to purchase a conceal carry weapon, and the weapon they pressed on me cannot be concealed easily at all). - When I went back in to have them help me with the sites on the weapon, they did not even listen to me before shooing me out the door and to another weapons place. However, (On a positive note) where they sent me to was much more respectful in explaining what I had purchased and that it was not a concealed carry weapon at all as well as helping me with the sites. I would not recommend Get Some Unless you are already familiar with weaponry or you know what you are looking for. As a first time Handgun owner, it was not a good experience at all, and definitely a waste of serious money for a weapon that I cannot use for the intended purpose of the purchase.

Prices are high, but fair considering what you get. The range is modern and well lit, there are automatic weapons available for rent, the store seems to specialize in high speed/low drag tactical weapons and gear. There are some bargains and specials to be found, but otherwise the merchandise and services are upscale. If I was looking for something very specific or otherwise hard to get, Id try these guys first. If I just wanted to burn some 22, or buy a cheap hunting shotgun, Id probably go elsewhere.

This place is dope. They have a decent selection to purchase/rent. They also offer military discount. The staff is knowledgable, polite and helpful. My friends and I had a great time at the range and a pleasant experience. So I purchases a handgun and will be a repeat customer.

The salesperson that helped me was a very nice and reasonable employee to deal with, Daniel I believe was his name. He tried his best to resolve my issue but the issue I was having was with my layaway that I had on a gun. I was misinformed about the gun I was wanting to purchase and when I was able to talk to the manager about it he was very unhelpful. In my opinion if you want people to keep coming back you shouldnt leave the store with a bad taste in your mouth and I definitely did. Terrible manager and I will never buy from get some again and anyone that I know I will make sure to encourage them to shop elsewhere.

$35.00 plus tax for a simple gun transfer?!?!? Outrageous! The most expensive in town by far. Every other place is $10/$20 at most. Place is a rip off. Have your next purchase online sent to a different store!!!

I shop here last. If Im looking for a part or accessory there is a 50/50 chance they have it. I took a star away, because Ive heard some erroneous advice given to customers.People come here for expert advice by firearm professionals and it almost seems that the people running the store lack the very education that is required to help customers interested in firearms.

This place is awesome. The staff is very knowledgeable. The prices are very good, below MSRP in fact. My favorite part is that the staff is paid hourly. So they are under no pressure to sell you anything. The range is ventilated well, so even when people are going nuts with the shooting it stays clean and you can breathe. I love this place and will be buying all my future firearms and parts from here as long as Im in Utah.As a side note, these guys are paid hourly. Not by commission. So there isnt a reason for them to try and upsell you on something you dont need or want. These guys are also super laid back about the store. So if you need something you either need to be patient or talk to them. Theyre always happy to talk to you. Just let them know you need something.

I went into this location to pick up my firearms which I had shipped to them since theyre an FFL, as required by law. I was told Im unable to use a passport to obtain my firearms of which I had purchased. Per the ATF website, that is partially true. Per the ATF website I am able to use my passport in combination with something like a car registration proving that I am a Utah resident. I called again today specifying what the ATF states on their government website ATF.gov. I stated (as above) in accordance with the official government website ATF.gov, I should be able to obtain a firearm with said combination (above) but I was still denied the ability to pick up the firearms in which I had already purchased. As a libertarian I dont appreciate the push to corral me to purchase my rights back from the government, AKA making it mandatory that I use a Utah license although according to the government (atf.gov) website I can use my passport and car registration. I understand the employees are just trying to do their job to protect the company that they work for, but they should be following ATF regulations from their website and theyre not.To validate my statement please go to ATF.gov, choose firearms and you will find the following statement:A combination of government issued documents may be used to meet the requirements of an identification document. For example, a passport which contains the name, date of birth, and photograph of the holder may be combined with a voter or vehicle registration card containing the residence address of the transferee in order to comply with the identification document requirements.As a born-and-bred Utah resident I am incredibly frustrated that my rights are not being respected by this company. I have never had such a challenge in obtaining something that is legally and rightfully mine. I will be calling the ATF Monday to clarify their statement online and let them know if I cant obtain a firearm with a passport & car registration as per their website, they should be updating the website with the proper language because legally, companies like get some guns & ammo can sue the ATF if they are fining them for something that they are legally doing. which sounds to be the case according to this locations employees. Which to that I say sack up and Sue if your rights are being violated by the ATF or dont say youre a proud supporter of our 2A rights. This is absolutely abserd when the requirements of identification are clearly outlined on their official government website.

I went into the layton store to look at and buy a new 9mm but I wanted to look at them first. the guy behind the counter was very rude and short with me like he though I didnt have any money. I will never spend a dime here again. Just go to Red Dot down the street.

The staff was less than knowledgeable and overall unfriendly. I was not allowed to shoot my TulAmmo (steel jacketed, lead core) and forced to buy Red Army Standard (also steel jacketed, lead core) because my ammo stuck to a magnet. Went home and guess what, so does theirs! Their policy states they do not allow Armor Piercing/steel jacket with steel core but no where does it say they dont allow lead core.

My husband and I took a hand gun class this week, what a great experience. Our instructor Sarah, did an excellent job and was very knowledgeable. She was also very patient and provided a comfortable environment to learn in both the classroom and on the range. A++

I believe first impressions are very important. Today was the first and last time I go to Get Some Guns in Layton. I called today asking if they had 5.56 in stock and when they closed so I didnt have to make a trip there for nothing. The gentleman I talked to said yes without hesitation. So I drove 15 min to their shop just to find out they dont have any 5.56. Thanks a lot for wasting my time. I think Ill stick to impact guns from now on.

Super cold in the range, $35 FFL Transfer, customer service is pretty bad. The guys here are all mall ninjas I would not take any advice from.If you need to get your ID from them when your done shooting, good luck. Theyll sit around on the sales side and straight up ignore you.

The sales reps at the counter are rude and talk down to even experience gun owners. Every time Ive come in asking about particular gun they act put out and you have to all but beg them to look up pricing on a gun. Also they have very few suggestions and offer a little information about each gun other than how to operate it, aka pull the trigger.If it is not on the shelf they dont care about you.On a good note they have few of the common handguns in 9 mm to try out at the range.

I have shot here several times and the facilities are good; however, after my most recent trip I will not be returning until they have a range master actively running the range. They have cameras but clearly do not monitor them.Last visit there where several individuals acting extremely unsafe and nothing was done about it. Actions including: drawing and pointing weapons behind the firing line and in the direction of other shooters, repeatedly carrying weapons between the line and the tables with closed slides and fingers on triggers, rapid firing to the point of missing the target entirely, etc. Additionally the language of several shooters was extremely inappropriate and with children present.I understand that Get Some cant guarantee the basic decency and gun handling skills of everyone that visits their range, however, if the range was monitored at all those types of behaviors could be addressed.It is extremely difficult to monitor and teach my son while worrying about being shot... All while paying quite a lot for the experience.

I was really hoping to find a good local gun shop after moving to UT. I finally made in there, but was disappointed to say the least. If you want to be talked down to and treated like you dont have a clue, this is your store.Its a shame too because the indoor range seemed nice and the selection was good. That unfortunately is undone by unfriendly staff who are more interested in looking at each others concealed weapons than answering some simple questions.

Super helpful guy talked to me a lot. Answered a lot of questions, showed me a lot of guns. Ill be back.Also I want to clarify - Women shoot free on Tuesdays - its not free to shoot women on Tuesdays. Deducting one star for that...

Great staff, I’ve come in several times both here and at the Orem location and I’ve always received incredible friendly customer service. Products in store are good, prices are about average for gun ranges though it’s better to buy ammo at Cabellas first then go there.

3 stars primarily for the range quality. I believe the level of service in this place declined when Get Some bought out Salvo. The salesman on staff now a days are less knowledgeable about the firearms and more pushy like the staff at Impact. It stinks to see a good store change up their style to copy the big guys. Theres a reason I dont visit Impact anymore and why Im less inclined to visit Get Some.

I love hunting, and because I love hunting I also love guns and testing out guns. I have been to way too many gun stores to even keep track of but I LOVE Get Some. It just feels like home to me.

Stood and waited about five minutes to look at some firearms while one of the associates played with his phone, talking about a party to his other co worker. When we finally got to me, he was very unprofessional and handled the firearm in very poor manner.Rest of the store looked awesome though.

Ever heard of a place that wont honor even THEIR OWN web store prices in their brick-n-mortar? Well, these guys do exactly that! And, as a bonus, you can expect a lecture on why web stores exist, and that shipping is not included in the web store price. If youre going to argue with a customer about a generally accepted and expected rule in the vendor community, you can probably expect that customer (me) avoid doing business with you. Cheers.

This is a decent shop to find and repair your firearms. They have a great selection however they are overpriced. Staff typically likes to belittle you opposed to educate you. When you try to correct them on incorrect information they tend to give you a cold shoulder and become unhelpful. This is just a trait of individuals not necessarily reflecting the business but it can draw your attention to leaving. Lanes are very rarely all occupied so this leaves a great chance to get one even though they have a limited amount due to the size of the building. If you are looking for a CCP (concealed carry permit) they offer one of the lowest cost with a great teacher that will tell you what you need to know. The class is 3 hours of classroom information and 1 hour on the range. Overall this would be considered your 3 option for buying a firearm behind Impact and Smith & Edwards.

Went with my wife and I wanted her to pick her new pistol. The younger guy that was helping her was very condescending about her questions. I was not impressed at all. We went to Sportsman in Riverdale and received excellent service, and they beat the price of the gun she liked.

Staff are all very knowledgeable and always ready to help. Gotta love free range time for ladies every Tuesday!

I have gone here now 3 times just to use their range to fire my own weapon..14 bucks got me eyes ears 2 fred targets and a days access to one lane which i only used for about 30 minutes..i only go every now and then to let off 100 rounds as a stress reliever..everything is awesome there..the only thing i noticed..and this may just be me..is i collect my shells after using the range and each time now by 2 different employees i get somewhat of a bad look for taking my shells home..i have a buddy who reloads ammo that i give my shells too..is that so bad that i cleanup after myself and take my shells home? Lol

I just bought a rifle and the carrying case was damage prior to my purchase the staff wouldn’t help and told me to contact the Manufacture this is not the level of Customer service I expect when I spend $1800

Impact guns has better prices make sure you shop around before going to this place. They will screw you around if not on aware. Just looking out for you

Ive been going there a while now only because of large selection other then that horrible customer service. Im talking rude and arrogant some worse then others but overall poor attitude towards customers wheather experienced or not. they also act put out if they have to lift a finger to check a price or show you a fire arm.

Ordered a suppressor, paid for it in full, about $1000. I asked for military discount, noticed they did not give me the discount, when I mentioned it the very next day, they said sorry! want a 30 day range pass? NO! I want my discount!! did not offer a refund for the discount! Go elsewhere!

I rated 1 star because there isn’t an option to rate 0! This place is absolutely horrible to buy a gun from. I think this is the worst customer service I have ever received at a company. I came in to buy an LCP 2, but when they didn’t have it at their own location I asked if I could order it in, and they said yes. They told me they placed the order and they took my name and number, planning to call me when it got in (they told me it would get there in about 5 days). After about 2 weeks of hearing nothing, I called the store and asked about my order’s status. They told me it wasn’t there yet because they were TOO LAZY (their own words) to send a runner and get it from the Provo location, but promised to have it in the next 3 days (I would have gone to the Provo location myself, but I am under 21 years old and a parent is required to be present while buying the gun, and my father doesn’t have the time to drive an hour and a half away with his work schedule). I called back about 2 more weeks later, still not hearing anything back from them and asked to speak to their manager. When he picked up I expained my frustration to him and he told me that no one had even placed an order. They were so lazy that they didn’t even bother to order my gun, even though they had told me they had done so. The manager ordered the gun over the phone for me and promised he would make sure it was here within the week. About 3-4 weeks have passed and I didn’t hear a single thing. So I just barely called in to check one last time before going to another company. They told me they have the LCP 2 and have had it for some time now! They did not put it on hold for me, or notify me that my order was ready. They simply put it in their store to get sold. I know that was super long but I will never return to this store and I hope none of you do either!!! Worst gun store in my opinion!!

First off Tillman at the Layton location is amazing! He took time and all the patients in the world to answer any questions I had. If yoy need a model employee customer service, he is it. Great job Tillman. All the other guys helped were they could or at least said hello! I wished they had the Bersa in stock I was looking for, but oh well. Customer service will keep me coming back.

Went in to get range time with my wife and kids the guy at the range counter didnt greet us. He was leaning against a counter away from the main counter with his arms folded and said what guns you going to shoot? and asked how many shooters so I told him then he asked about the kids and I explained to him that the wife was going to shoot a few rounds them would come or and switch with me and I will go shoot. Then he said with an attitude one of you will need to stay out with the kids. He told us to fill out the range waivers and didnt move from the back counter plus he didnt explain where they were and at that point my youngest child threw a fit so my wife took the child out to the car and I followed my wife out. Then I called the store and spoke to a manager and he kept interrupting me as I was explaining the situation that just transpired as he was stating that the employee at the range counter did nothing wrong. We will not be going back there for anything!!

Friendly staff, indoor range is great in winter! Great options to test out a pistol before you buy it!
