The guys here do great work! I can confirm that on the surface of your 1st experience that they APPEAR like they dont care, but its only in their nonchalant sounding voices. These gentlemen are superb workers and Peter was honest with me from the start regarding how long it would take for my bike to be fixed. They were already 3 weeks deep with work when I handed over my bike, but that progressed to a month or so due to a part back order shipment and they cannot help that. Anyhow, Peter was sure to keep me updated. Please, do not judge them by their outward appearance. Some people just arent bubbly BUT they ARE VERY friendly, will NOT charge outrageous prices, and does AMAZING work! Ive been taking my bike there for about a couple of years now and they always make it as good as new! I believe its a private business with a huge and dependable clientele, so if theyre not fawning over every customer that comes through the door then its possibly because they really dont need to, so please, just have a humble approach with the gentlemen there and they will not disappoint you! By the way, how they treat people has nothing to do with race. They are Caucasian and Spanish Americans and I am Black American... in case anyone wanted to go there 🀭

I am in a wheelchair and needed new 24” tires. They are the same as on a bicycle. Bay Area Cycling supposedly ordered the tires and told me they would be in on Friday. I go there on Friday only to be told we are trying to get an order together to place an order with the Vendor. I go by on Thursday week to see if the tires will be in on Friday and I am told we will call you on Friday. To date, I have never received the tires and went I spoke to them for the final time, they couldn’t find the order. I don’t do business with Liars and those who have no respect for the handicapped. I realized that when I couldn’t get in their shop due to planters blocking the ramp and sidewalk.

Had 2 bikes for tune up in their shop for over 2 months. I took them back since they never touched them. Originally I agreed to their 1 month backlog due to COVID. After 1.5 months, I called and they kept promising me it would be done in a few days. After 3 more excuses over the phone, I retrieve them. This reflects disorganized management and Im guessing theyve overloaded and on those who complain the loudest. I tried to sponsor local shops here but taking my business to Kemah. Not highly recommended here

Point Blank, it might take a while to get work performed and they may not communicate with you very well once your bike is in their possession.BUT, once I did get my bike back ... Wow ... the brakes were adjusted correctly, the ENTIRE bike had been gone through in detailed FASHION. They would have gotten 5 stars just because their work and attention to detail are impeccable. So all in all ... bring your bikes here to have then fixed/repaired/adjusted/maintained.Just call them once a week !!! Great Techs here !

I went here in March of this year to purchase the new Giant Propel Disc. Almost non of this purchase went smoothly. This is where I give them all five stars for their service. I understood going in that this bike was going to be rather popular with the manufacturer. It wasn’t even included in Giant’s product catalog yet. When I placed the order for the bike to be delivered to the store it was in stock, however in the short time it took to complete the transaction the bike went out of stock with Giant. I was told it could be a few weeks before the bike came in due to ordering minimums. Totally understandable as the truck needs to be filled before shipping. Well things took longer than expected and in my anticipation I was calling about once a week hoping for an update. After five weeks my bike finally made it to the shop for me to pick it up. I was offered a rather large compensation for my inconvenience, that I didn’t take them up on. After all it wasn’t the shop’s fault that the bike was backordered. The simple act of offering to make it up to me and keeping me updated with every phone call made this one of nicest places to do business.

I started getting serious about biking about a year ago. Every biker I know recommended Bay Area, and stated that Ira was the best bike tech in the area by far. On my first trip I brought in a bike that I did not purchase there, and they had never seen before. I wanted more speed of course and better handling. They worked with me and I was able to get what I wanted. There rates were very reasonable.Since then I have been through a couple of new bikes which I bought from them. Their knowledge and experience have helped me achieve exactly what I wanted. Everyone I deal with there (including all the young guys) is always more than helpful, the service is always excellent, and fast. The one thing I have learned is that bikes are a lot more complicated than I had thought, a properly tuned, sized, and set up bike is more fun and a lot safer to ride. I would recommend this shop to anyone looking for a professional bike shop to use.

Made my first visit this morning after continuous ineptitude at my former bike place (REI). Great location about 5-10 minute drive off the Gulf Freeway. The guys at Bay Area Cycling fixed my road bike for a great price while I waited. They didnt try to upsell me (if fact, quite the opposite: when I asked about several repairs I thought my bike might need, they quickly assured me that they were totally unnecessary and a waste of money). In other words, these guys were honest. Even more important, they obviously knew what they were doing and seemed to enjoy doing it.

I have been cycling since 1984, and I honestly have never enjoyed a local bike shop as much as I have this one. The guys who work at Bay Area Cycling are very knowledgeable, and bike maintenance is top notch. Ira, the resident bike mechanic, is awesome! I ride a lot, and after one of his tune ups my bike runs smoothly as pure silk. When I walk in, they know who I am, what I ride, and the history behind each of my bikes. I ask the guys a lot of questions, and I take their advice.I dont shop anywhere else!Update: Yet another great experience with these guys. Fantastic bike tuneup!

I went in to order a Redline bike they posted a Black Friday special price on Facebook, but when I got there it wasnt what they advertised. They only would sell one color bike, of course the color I didnt want and acted like they could care less. Bought the bike on Amazon instead. Its no wonder some businesses go under, terrible customer service.

I am a novice trail rider and roadie, I first came to this shop to have my entry level trail bike tuned and repaired. The folks at this shop have always welcomed me, advised me and supported me. Chase, Ira (Phenomenal mechanic), Chris and Rick have always been helpful and insightful. Since that first visit and now a few years later I purchased 2 Giant rigs from them. Chase and Ira helped out immensely and even help me save money by not buying something I didnt need but wanted for the sheer novelty of it. They could of let me spend over a thousand more but they are not in it for the buck, I believe they are in it because they love what they do. I am committed to Bay Area Cycle because plain and simple they are committed to me.R. E. Chapa

We took my daughters bike in to have the dereailer fixed, a new chain and 2 shifters with cables replaced. He quoted us $122+ and said wed be better off buying a new bike. Now Im not sure how much they charge for labor but we bought the parts online for $47 and my husband who has never repaired a bike to this degree had it fixed in an about an hour in our front yard. The gentleman was very nice and professional but he seemed almost dismissive and I have to wonder if it isnt because it was a Walmart bike.

Manager here (Ira) was very impatient with his own employee and then gave me the same jerk attitude. I quickly lost interest in talking to the guy. Another employee came in who seemed to know his stuff and was a lot more personable and better at explaining things. They only had 1 set of pedals to choose from which I didnt want. Seems weird that a bicycle shop doesnt have a good selection of pedals. Then they were going to try to get a part that I need but said theyd have to transfer it from another store. I had to ask them to take my information to let me know the part was in.Anyhow, I wont be going back there.

Beware to anyone/woman who doesnt want to be taken advantage of by the owner and employees of this worthless place! ! I took my bike to purchase and have a chain put on it. The young dark skin bald guy first quoted me a price of $60. Around $25 for the chain, which I expected, but $30 for the labor, seriously! !! So I said no thanks. He then tells me to wait and runs inside to return with a quote of $10 for the labor. After the service the old short fat white guy who owns the place doesnt set the gear correctly which causes the chain to fall off when I test rode it. So I take it back inside for him to correct it. While there I deside to get a quote about having my cables replaced and gears flushed. THIS IS EVER MORE RIDICULOUS! !! I was first given a quote of $36 plus $30 for the labor by the old man, but he decides to measure my cables, and when all was done I was given a quote of $130 to have everything done. A left this joke of a bike shop and went to Bike Barn to have everything done for $50. I should have followed my first thought and went to BB in the beginning! !

Rick called me back within an hour and told it was ready to go. Cool! He was very friendly and didnt try to sway my decision to purchase one of their bikes or talked down about the BMW Bike... Yet he answered all of my questions. Ill definitely be back for service and purchase accessories!
