Super helpful staff. We’re able to drop off a trailer after hours and then a quick easy check in to drop off the truck the next day. 5 stars because we got service with smiles. Friendly crew here and we appreciate it!

Very disappointed in their service as U-Haul has been in the moving and storage rental business for quite some time now. Two consecutive moves where there are major hiccups causing me to delay my move for 1-2 hours. Long story short, my U-Haul has been scheduled for pick up at the Lemon grove location for 7:30 and I get there around 7:10 to check in as the text message from U-Haul states that location. After checking in the location changed to the T&Q food alliance location which is 15 mins away. I drove to that location waiting 30 mins for the place to open at 8. Best part is the I voiced my concern and the guy literally asked me if I checked the parking lot for U-Haul even though he observed the parking lot while opening the store. Called Lemon Grove the guy hung up on me twice. Couldnt find the vehicle by the 24/7 share area as there are no trucks and here I am waiting in line 1.5 hours from the start of this issue. Corporate needs to address this issue: train their employees on customer service, staff more people, or fix their remote check in system.

Largest Uhaul rental site in my area. Had a reservation, waited about 20 minutes to check out. First truck they tried to give me had a gash in the tire. Like I want to be stranded on the side of the freeway? No thank you! Second truck they gave me had a check engine light. The Uhaul rep said its fine and that there are no problems with the truck. I took it against my better judgement because I needed to move. Well, the truck was very noisy and it had a fuel leak. Thankfully, I had no problems while driving. I couldnt gas up the truck, but the Uhaul guys told me no problem when I returned the truck. This would have been a one star review had it not been for the attempts made to satisfy me.

Absolute chaos with scheduling and shipping our ubox through this location. The ONLY person who knows how to do their job is the owner.. who didn’t even have enough confidence in his own employees to change our reservation to 4 days earlier in fear they would mess something else up. Before speaking to him, there were nearly TEN reservations under my name for ONE uBox before the owner was able to delete them off my account. With that being said, our ubox has sat in their lot for nearly a week and somehow they still managed to ship our ubox later than expected. Customer service said they failed to contact their shipping department to pick up our items. I’ve been on hold for over an hour in total today in attempts to contact the store. Now I have to contact shipping, ubox services, AND the store tomorrow just to make sure everyone is doing their jobs and not putting our s*** on the back burner. Moving across the country? Use any other shipping company. Seriously.

Had a terrible experience at this location recently. I came in to rent a trailer and ended up needing wiring done to my car. I was told to come back 2 hrs later, which worked fine with my schedule since I had other commitments that day. They told me the wire installation would only take about 1 hr altogether. I came back and sat for another hr before my car was even taken for the wiring. Ended up waiting another 3 1/2 hrs for the wiring to be finished, I didnt really have the option to just get up and leave since I had already paid for the wiring and labor and they still had my car. They told me another 20 minutes for 2 hrs. They even tried to call whoever was in charge to get me a discount. No dice. I usually never write reviews on places like this but all totaled I spent 6 hrs and over $1k dealing with them and whoever was in charge didnt give two sh!ts about it. Bad customer service and poor quality of ownership. Trust me when I say stay away.

Imagen having one job and that job is shipping. Now imagen you are a reputable company and you are known for doing this job of shipping pretty well. Now, reality is, they cant even do this correctly. I moved across the country and trust this location to do one thing, ONE! Make sure a carrier picks up my ubox on a certain date. Literally thats all they had to do! Instead of calling me or letting me know, no they just continued to let the ubox container sit there. Now instead of my stuff which I need to go to my new job, and just about ALL of my clothes is still sitting in California. Only good thing to come out of this is that my shipping is now free and they owe me $50 everyday its past the guarantee arrival date which will be about 19 days AFTER it was suppose to arrive! PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF the headache and go with literally any other company. Uhual, what a joke.

I should’ve listened when I read about Uhual and this location specifically. You can check about a month back that I would update when my ubox container arrived...well IT DIDNT. In fact, in never shipped. I have contacted the BBB with several letters as well as corporate. Make sure you keep records of all names of people you talk to while working with uhual. My ubox container was packed by me on July 21 and was “guaranteed” to arrive on Aug 6. I continuously called during the time of me packing and it arriving to make sure everything was good. I was told SEVERAL times by customer service reps it was in it’s ways and 3 days, 2 days, and less than 24 hours before it’s arrival was told it was at the pickup location. The night before I called and the lady even said “it’s there for you to pickup tomorrow and I will leave a note you are coming tomorrow morning to pick it up.” I left this morning with 3 cars and my parents taking off work to help only to find out IT NEVER LEFT THIS LOCATION! It is still currently at Lemon Grove and now will not arrive until Aug 25! I left California with a suitcase and that’s it. I am suppose to start teaching next week and all I have it gym shorts and shirts with a weeks worth of boxers and socks. This container was suppose to arrive today and now will be arriving 2 weeks later! I was given the run around by every single employee at uhual and only until Megan who helps with traffic and carrier in California helped me and actually tracked it down. I was lied to on numerous occasions by multiple employees. I even tried to contact this location and it rings a bunch of times before you get connected to customer service in which you wait 20-30 minutes. My fiancé and I will be reporting them to the BBB and we have contacted head quarters as well. I WANT TO SAVE EACH OF YOU FROM EVER USING UHAUL OR THIS LOCATION. I hope this review saves many of you from going through the horrible experience I am going through at the moment and I honestly can’t believe a company with type this reputation would be as sloppy and showing blatant disregard for their customers.

I call the u haul company and they reserve me in here I went from el cajon to there I got there they didnt give the car the supervisor he reserve me one different place I told him to call them when they call them it wasnt reserve it was for someone one else the same guy he reserve me the next day it was Sunday he said pick it up at 9 clock I went there the other guy he told me he didnt reserve it for you he called him and he give me the truck for 3 hour when I back to home the supervisor he told me he going give discount he did give me nothing the worst severe I have seen in my life

Levi and Steve are extremely helpful and I’m not sure why the store has such a low rating. As long as my ubox container arrives safely with no damages I will be back to leave another review. All guys working take their job pretty serious and seem to want to be helpful in anyway they can. I had to access my ubox container and they helped get it ready within 15 minutes and were good at explaining everything to me. The ubox driver in the back is also helpful and tries to keep the customers happy by putting your ubox container in the most convenient location.

A huge thanks to this location for helping my family and I with our move. Everyone was polite, professional and courteous. I especially appreciate Patrick the owner for working with me and explaining in detail all of my options. He even went as far as to show me the inside of various trailers so I could appropriately choose what was best for my needs. Kaycie was equally as fabulous and notable! He consistently offered quality and expedient service with a smile. He works well under pressure and it is obvious that he is one of few who really knows how to run the store. Kudos to this property, all of the staff, and the owner! Dont hesitate to rent from this location.

Rented from this location many times. I’ve never had a complaint, and the service is always amazing.Sitting here now, patiently while they try to sort out a computer issue.. they go above and beyond to make sure you are taken care of. They offer the best advice on moving.. and work with you to figure out what your best option is.I would also like to add.. that they put up with some crazy people.. and keep their professionalism the whole time. I have no idea how they do it 😂

They do not upkeep their trucks and when we returned it my husband filled the gas to where we received it but they said it wasnt enough and charged us an extra $25. The truck its self fulfill our needs thats why it didnt get a 1 star.I also suggest you bring your own blankets they will charge you for using theirs and charged for using the dolly also you need to buy straps they dont have them to rent only purchase.

Came here for propane. Prefer to buy it by the gallon rather than do the exchange, plus this time it was for my RV which has weird horizontal tanks while in use. I backed my car up to where they fill the tanks, and an employee noticed me right away, and stopped what he was doing to assist me. This is great service.The only issue I had was that it took the person filling the tank a little bit of time to realize that the main valve on my propane tank has to be opened in order to get the propane into the tank. This is minor and not even sure it was worth mentioning.Also worth mentioning is they are open until 7pm on Saturdays.

Dont go here unless there is no other option. Representatives talk AT you and never listen to anything the customer says.Renting a truck I had made an apartment for, I was told I was REQUIRED (much emphasis from the employee) to return the truck by 10am, or they wouldnt have it for another customer. Other than not being polite about it, which would have made it simpler, my being demanding and forceful it now became a not my problem issue and I didnt care if I was late.Having some form of politeness rather than jaded employees would go a long way toward improving the business from a last-option stop to one of first choice.

I had a horrible experience here. The owner/ management must think they are doing an act of compassion by turning a blind eye to homeless living in the units. The problem is there is no 24 hour bathroom access and trash access provided. So some units have waste and food that shouldnt be there. I saw the filth of the unit across from mine and reported it because roaches were in my belongings. The manager offered to bomb my unit to kill roaches but how could that help if the filth was still across the hallway. I had to get my new home fumigated a second time after I unpacked my belongings from U-haul. The amount if dead baby roaches found in my stuff after the fumigation was deplorable. Do not place your stuff here unless you want an infestation problem.

The odometer was wrong before I drove the truck out of the parking lot, I went back to the front desk and they changed it on the contract. I made the mistake to not verify the Gas gage as well before leaving, by looking at the odometer on the car and comparing it to the contract I only drove 20 miles. So I put 4 gallons of gas just in case, which was a 15 dollar charge on me. The truck is a 12 mile a gallon uhaul, and I gave them 4 gallons for what I drove. The manager and I got into a confrontation because he accused me of not putting gas into the uhaul, while I tried to log onto my phone to show him the bank statement another co-worker approached. We all began to argue after the manager accused me of lying and not putting gas in the Uhaul, one of the co workers told me “he is from the streets” basically antagonizing a fight. Very unprofessional crew, if I were in a younger decade we all would have been arrested. These guys are scammers, I will be disputing the extra charge to my card for 61 dollars of gas I did not use.

This location seems busy. I went for service and I was greeted and help by a young man name samuel he was nice he took his time to understand are issues and did everything he could to help us w. The uhaul equipment. I wanna thank him and another nice young man name travis he was very helpful a little slow but he had knowledge. They didnt stop till the job was done. Thanks guys.

Good spot to rent from, the new manager is ok I think he is still getting used to the location. They are way under staffed on typically busy days, so if you ask for something out side of normal like a specific trailer you will get a canned response that it is already rented when he is too busy to assist you because he is under staffed. But its getting better, not like it used to be though.

Storage access hours are garbage. They are the same as the office hours. It sucks to have an upper-level unit because most times you have to locate a ladder and then drag it to your unit. Most of the ladders are old and broken. Wait times can be long because they are sometimes very busy and understaffed.Despite displaced people washing up in the bathroom, the staff tries their best to keep it clean. The staff is very friendly and attentive to your needs.

I’m currently at this location to rent a pickup truck, their policy is to call my alternate contact number, and they must answer. I have never been asked to provide this or have them actually called my POC. Im a frequent renter of UHAUL. Unnecessary time delay and non value task for the Consumer.

Picked up a truck and when i went to open it the padlock from the previous customer was still locked on. I called uhual back where Vickey told me that they dont take locks off and that it was up to me to buy lock cutters to rectify the situation. Long story short i never got reimbirsed for the lock cutters and every time i tryed to contact eli pittman (the manager) he is conveniently unavailable, as well as, unable to return an email. Will never use or recommend uhual again.

I had the pleasure of being helped by Mario Rivas and a few of the other employees here. When every other uhaul in San Diego county failed me, they saved the day! I rented a trailer from another location and they failed to hook up the wiring harness for the lights on the trailer. These guys got me in same day, were able to get me the right harness (after the other location gave me the wrong harness) and install it all within an hour! If youre moving in San Diego county, come here! These guys will take care of you!

This particular location has always been my least favorite of the area due to the long waits and slow service. You want speed, competence and friendly service? Try the 43rd st location. That location is managed very well! The employees at this location dont seem to care. Then again, if you had a consistently long line of pissed off customer and you were the only one at the reservation desk, I guess I wouldnt give a crap either. Be prepared to spend 15-30 minutes in line. I have had to wait close to an hour for a trailer hookup one past occasions.The sales policies are very inconsistent too. We rent trailers weekly and in the past weve rented ball hitches or even had them loaned to us for our vehicles that are not equipped with them. This last time, they insisted that I could not rent one anymore and had to buy one. What? That was the last straw. We will take our business elsewhere.

Reservation made for tow package installation more than ten days ago. I paid an additional fee for parts to be expedited. My daughter drove 1200 miles to California to have the tow hitch installed before returning to Montana. The appointment was confirmed with this local Uhaul agent, not once but TWICE! When my daughter arrived this morning (6/24 at 10am) for installation appointment, she was told there were NO parts and they couldnt get them until Thursday of this week. Because of the ineptitude of not only Haul reservation department, but also this local agent, my daughter is now stuck in San Diego, with nowhere to stay. I am **FURIOUS** with all involved, and Haul is now scrambling to meet my demands. I plan to file a complaint with the owner of the franchise in Lemon Grove, CA, and DEMAND return of the fees I paid.A.McDonaldIts been several days since I posted the above, which I originally gave one star, accompanied by an extremely unhappy review. I now wish to eat humble pie. Mr Burton at UHaul in Lemon Grove, and Don Chaie, President of Marketing in San Diego became involved at the unfortunate circumstances described in my first post. They bent over backwards to fix an unfortunate sequence of events. Mr Chaie hand-delivered a corporate check to my daughter to cover the additional expenses incurred by her extended stay in San Diego. Mr Burton, UHaul in Lemon Grove, provided my daughter with transport far more expensive than the original reservation, plus a car trailer - and every penny was credited back to my credit card. Its pretty rare for a major corporation to admit they royally blew it, but went out of their way to make it right. Possibly the dumbest most unorganized unprofessional, ghetto uhaul that Ive ever visited in the entire country. I made a reservation over the phone to get a hitch installed and practically every single thing that the person can do wrong with a very simple task they have done wrong. I told them that I already had to Hitch, they messed that up. I told them 3:30 today they messed that up, so I drove an hour across town for the guy to give me an attitude and act like he didnt know what I was talking about after I just got off the phone with the girl. so they dont know how to listen to instructions they dont know how to do the paperwork they dont know how to communicate qith each other or the customer.so thank you very much for wasting my time have solutely will not be doing business with these clowns I would rather have a group of 4th graders install my hits than these monkeys.Avoid thie Ghetto uhaul like the plague!!

I never wright reviews. but this place blew my mind with the customer service. if you are thinking about renting, RENT FROM HERE!! rent trucks, vans, or anything for moving purposes related. they will save you money and a lot of trouble. THEY ARE BETTER THEN ANY CAR RENTAL PLACE I HAVE EVER BEEN TO. first thing these guys do, of course, is rent you a truck. the person you talk to will give you the cheapest service he can. he will tell you the amount of gas to fill up and price per mile. then someone will meet you by the van and go over the gas, the state of the vehical. they were very honest and decreased the amount of gas i needed to return it with by an eighth of a tank. after i returned it i had to run, and couldnt be with them for the inspection. they not only were honest in their inspection, but looked up all the rates in town for the vehical and decreased my cost EVEN FURTHER. i have never delt with a business who delt with me so honestly. only charged me 0.29$ per mile! my total cost was $100 which is pretty good for driving all the way up to L.A. and back. they didnt charge me anything for insurance. i would recomend these guys first over anyone else in san deigo for moving, even over other uhauls.

Needed to rent a 6× 12 enclosed trailer for trip from Lemon Grove to Colorado Springs. Had previously rented same trailer a few weeks back in Colorado for under $400. Was told that trailer would now cost $680.00 and I should reserve because it could go up. They said there are no set prices, supply and demand. Never getting business from me again.

Customer service tells me I have to work it out with this specific location, but they never pick up their phones or return calls. Im out of the state now so I cant go in person. I tried to get a trailer hitch installed prior to renting a trailer. They apparently farm out the hitch installation to someone in a separate office that then finds the actual person to install the hitch in a third location. I ended up getting confirmed for an appointment, called saying the installer is already busy and the appointment will be delayed an extra day, called again moving the appointment up a day from the original appointment, and finally when I arrived at the only location I was ever told they had no idea about a hitch install and tried to get me to pick up a trailer. U-Haul may have a monopoly on the trailer rental market but do whatever you can to get a hitch installed anywhere but U-Haul.

This is a larger UHAUL store so they have the equipment you need. Only thing that upset me is I reserved 2 furniture dollies and they didnt have any in stock. They shouldnt let you reserve unless they have the equipment you requested.
