I asked ED to do full service of my daughters bike. I am was charged $ 65. Here how it looks like (see images - nice clean up right?). He changed $25 to fix the front wheel bend/wobble. But he did nothing.Terrible customer service. They will NOT get any new bikes in stock till mid next year.Just saying, honesty and quality are more important to a business. You are in this business for more than 10 years. I am sure you know better than me. Pls don’t rob your customers.
Purchased a bike online after speaking to a sales person who told me the bike was available. Called the next day to asked when I could pick it up and was informed that my money was refunded and that the bike was sold to someone else. Checked my email for the refund notice and saw that it was refunded hours later. What kind of business would do that? I would have given zero stars if possible.
Went to bike king last year and got a giant rode bike. Excellent experience left feeling happy with what I bought and the service I received. I’ve now had my bike for over a year and any maintenance question I’ve had Ed has always been there to help such as tire changes, bike chain re adjustment and what type of lubricant the chain takes. Ed has always been helpful even after buying my bike he did a service 2 weeks later to just make sure everything was running properly still. I definitely recommend this shop and just be patient this guy cares about bikes and makes sure everyones comes out top notch.
So I have a mountain bicycle and I asked bike king if they would change the pedals for me and he said yes not a problem. Then I said OK I have a 2 stroke motor on it and he freaked out and said I wont change the pedals cause I dont work on motorcycles its a MOUNTAIN BYCICLE AGAIN MOUNTAIN BYCICLE NOT MOTORCYCLE. Ed told me it was a motorcycle..... Correction it is a GAS POWERED BYCICLE. luckily I read the reviews and found out how ignorant Ed is. so with no knowledge whatsoever of BYCICLES, I just changed the pedals myself within 15 minutes and didnt give this shop a single penny.
About a year and a half ago I bought a used road bike from Ed at Bike King. Since the gyms closed in March due to COVID I have been riding a lot and have needed several maintenance stops at bike king. Ed has always been extremely helpful. He is very knowledgeable and has never tried to upsell anything to me. He has always been professional and goes the extra mile to help keep me safe and increase my bike awareness. Would totally recommend and have to family and friends, who have also been very happy with their experiences at Bike King
Bike King Cycling is now my local go-to bike shop! After going multiple times for parts and having great experiences, I decided this was the place to buy a race road bike (Cinelli Veltrix). Ed spent time going over the bikes parts, geometry, ride feel and the even the brands history. Honestly, BKC just feels like a real bike shop. Ed is a pleasure to work with and I will be back soon! Ride on!
Ever met one of those people who has memorized many facts but is unable to utilize them in productive conversations or everyday terms? That’s this place. Called the store earlier today to discuss bike racks for my Honda. We talked and seemed there was product that would be perfect, so I went in. The owner, although knowledgeable on bikes, seems to lack in common sense needed to apply this knowledge and run a store. I clearly reviewed my needs with him and he continued to try and sell me a 300 dollar bike rack that he could not guarantee would suit what I needed. After this, he disclosed that there was no return policy if the rack would not fit the needs and accused me of wanting to take the rack to to the beach for the weekend then return, despite the fact we had just discussed for 20 minutes about whether it would fit the next car I purchased. It seems a little counterproductive to accuse someone of wanting to take advantage of you while discussing the longevity of such an expensive item. I am honestly shocked by how poor the customer service was.
I went in for a bike to be repaired, Ed was extremely rude and totally unprofessional, He said my bike was worth$80 brand new which is total nonsense and the cost of repairs would be over $200, he even went as far to say its time for an upgrade. There is ways to speak to a customer and Ed needs some proper etiquette classes to help him. I would never recommend him or his shop to anyone. Go elsewhere for repairs or to purchase a bike. This isn’t the place.
My bike looks like brand new. Perfect work
The Bike King is the BEST. He knows everything there is to know about bicycles. If you cant handle his directness, then take your bike to Walmart to have it fixed. If you need to be coddled, Ed aint your man. He tells it like it is. If youre a wuss, you dont deserve Ed, much less a bike.
Very poorly operated store. The guy who works there is completely clueless how to talk to paying customers. Its very sad. Really??? No phone call to let us know our sons bike was ready!!
I had an excellent experience at Bike King recently. Shifting between gears was delayed on my bike and the chain popped off of the cog frequently. Previously, I had taken my bike to another local shop and was told that I start the bicycle in too high of a gear, which strips down the gears. I took it to Ed, and he quickly diagnosed the problem. I asked him about upgrading the components, and he indicated that there was no need. He cleaned up the gears and replaced the chain. The bikes shifting is so much faster and smoother! I feel like I have a new bike! The cost of the new chain was far less than the new components that Ed could have easily sold to me. I highly recommend him.As a side note, I read a lot of the negative reviews on here to determine if I should go to Bike King. A lot of them have to do with Ed seemingly being rude. I witnessed an interesting interaction while at the store. A gentleman was purchasing a bike for someone who is rather tall. The bikes frame that he wanted was too small for someone of that height. Ed didnt have the larger bike that the customer wanted in stock. Ed tried multiple times to explain to the man that it was the wrong bike, even though Ed would have lost out on the sale. The man purchased the bike anyhow. My impression from that interaction is that Ed wants his customers to have the best value, even if it costs him a sale. I believe that may frustrate him because he knows bikes inside and out and wants his customers to have the right setup. Honesty can be hard to come by.
Independent bike shop owner. He is a good community partner working with the Middletown Community Foundation on a youth bike project. He does a great job tuning and repairing bikes from very high end to lower priced bikes. His prices are reasonable and fare.
My husband went looking for a mountain bike since the gym has been closed during the Covid-19 pandemic. He went to Bike King after researching online and because it was close by. He said he went in the store and an older gentleman approached him and told him in a rude manner that he wouldn’t have any bikes for three weeks . This store doesn’t seem like a business that will go out of the way to make a sale or have a customer return happy and satisfied. We will definitely be spending our money elsewhere.
Ed is top notch! Knowledgable and passionate about cycling. He will put you in the right equipment! #shop local
Just got our bike back after a repair. $30 and the like is like new. Ed is super busy right now but he is still taking the time to make sure our bikes are fixed, safe and ready to roll. He is going to need long winter break.
Terrific bike shop. I am not a really serious biker with top shelf expensive equipment but Ed makes you feel like the most important person to walk through the door. Very friendly and knowledgeable. Work was completed quickly and thoroughly for a very reasonable price. I would recommend Bike King to anyone.UpdateEd did such a great job rehabbing my bike we went back and purchased a new bike for my wife. Eds recommendations were spot on. We couldnt leave until all of her questions were answered. Why anyone would buy a bike on Amazon when stores like Bike King exist is beyond me.
Ed is terrific. He knows bikes and can help you pick out the perfect ride for you! Love my EVO!
I got a tire fixed on my sons bike. The owner was quite rude and very opinionated on the bike I purchased for my son. I would not be returning to this shop again. I wouldnt recommend. If your gonna be a mom and pop shop maybe you should be nicer to customers. My wife said he was nasty to her when she dropped it off.
Good ! dropped off mountain bike for repair, I have faith this guy has a good reputation, and price quoted was very fair.
The owner is very personable and honest. This was my first time using them And my experience was pretty great. Definitely recommend
Great service! They had the inner tubes I needed available immediately, and at half of what I expected to pay at a local shop. Better than Amazon! We were still able to go on the bike trip we had planned. Did not pressure us to buy anything we didn’t need. Planning to go back for future purchases!
Very disappointing. Dropped off my bike to fix the back brakes and was estimated less than 2 weeks. Called after 1 week to check, and they told us would be ready in 2-3 days. After having it for 2 weeks we call again and they said it would still be at least another week. The woman was extremely rude and had no sympathy. Will not be returning
Thanks Ed for fitting me in for a tune up on a busy Labor Day Saturday. Your Campagnolo knowledge is much appreciated and I will gladly drive down from Scranton for your Campy Pro Shop experience!I highly recommend Bike King!
I came to Bike King based on a recommendation by my neighbor. He described the owner as honest and truly knowledgeable.I completely agree. After visiting a few other shops we found, Ed simply exceeded our expectations. As novices to the world of cycling, I felt very confident we made the right decision to purchase our bikes here.More importantly, I know that we will return for servicing and future purchases.
Great service and repair of old Schwinn airdyne exercise bike. Works like new, super speedy repair and reasonable cost.
AMAZING STORE, AMAZING PEOPLE! ED KNOWS HIS STUFF :)
I got the Rove 2 last summer and I LOVE IT!My fiance and I are able to ride together all the time; around the neighborhood or at the park. It is perfect for all types of terrain and it is light enough for me to carry myself. The service at Bike King is fast, friendly, and they are so knowledgeable. Plus it is great to get to help out a small business!
The guy who runs the place is a bit douchey/pretentious, but he knows his stuff.
Ed is great. Takes the time to insure everything is set up exactly as it should be. an old-school fitter that absolutely understands what it takes to be comfortable on the bike. I have purchased many bicycles across the last 40 years and the experience that I had with Ed was the best.
We love Bike King Cycling! My husband and I decided to get into biking as a new hobby we could do together. When we first walked into Bike King, we were amazed at how much inventory they had with a price range for everyone. Ed helped us pick out the right bikes for what we were looking for and went above and beyond to build and customize exactly what we wanted. He even installed the bike rack on our car and put the bikes on since we had our hands full with our three kids.It was so refreshing to walk into a business and speak to someone so knowledgeable, honest and genuinely excited for us to do something new and exciting. We will definitely continue to support small businesses, and go to Bike King for future purchases. Thanks again Ed!!
Knowledgeable, personal care.
New to cycling I am learning that cyclists are a different breed of people. they are always willing to give you answers to questions you never knew to ask. Bike King Cycling is no different. On a recent road trip I stopped in to get a new helmet and found great advice to go with it. Thank you Bike King Cycling
Hands down, Bike King Cycling is the premiere bike shop in Bucks County, PA. I have been utilizing Eds professional skills as my bike mechanic for over five years and could not be more satisfied with the service, attention paid to detail and cycling insight. I will often stop by the shop to have a question addressed regarding bike performance or a bike racing strategy and Ive never left Bike King Cycling feeling anything less than happy and confident, knowing that Ive received top notch service from a team of professionals only the pro peleton experiences!! I am forever proud to call Bike King Cycling my bike shop and Bike King Racing my team.
I went to ask if the owner could reasonably help me restore my huffy mountain bike because it was sentimental to me and he tried to tell me it would be over 300.00 in parts and labor. Which we all know how much a huffy goes for in used prices. He told me to get rid of it and buy somethng new. If someone wants to have customers how about dont be a greedy person and be helpful and understanding. My bike only needed inner tubes. Brake pads. Lubrication and seat adjustment. I dont see how 300.00 could be charged for those items.
Couldnt ask for better service!! Very helpful, exceptional knowledge, and they will not sell you a bike that isnt right for you. Brought my bike into Bike King to have some things looked at, not only did Ed quickly fix all of my problems but he refit my bike to me. Its so comfortable now that I immediately doubled my ride distance. I will not go to any other bike shop.
Ed knows his stuff. Great bike fitter and repair tech.
Very friendly and helpful. Originslly located in Morrisville PA BUT MOVED TO NEW LOCATION IN LEVITTOWN, PAGoogle lists both places but they are only in Levittown on Woodbourne Road now
Same friendly bike shop with great service and lots of cool bikes but now in Middletown Twp by Wendys on Woodbourne Rd 👍
Looking for bike accessories, owner was most helpful
Decent service for a bike shop. My biggest complaint is that the owner has one bad attitude every time I go in for service. This will be the last straw for his business. Customer service is a huge to me. If you can not even be friendly or smile when a customer comes in your store. There clearly must be a problem.
I love Bike King. Ed and his staff is very knowledgeable about bikes for children and adults. My wife and I have bought 4 Giant Bikes from him and we will continue to shop at his store. I highly suggest anyone who is looking to purchase a bike, please visit this local business
To expensive for parts and labor. Better of at REI or another shop. Poor communication skills with customer and seems to be more interested in making money.
Second time i have been to this place.... Both experiences suck!!! Currently outfront at 10:20 am waiting to get in with another customer (supposed to be open at 10)... While the owner watches us wait from the back of the store without even making an attempt to cone to the door.
I went to Ed last year to purchase a bike he did not try to sell me something I did not need and he listened to what my expectations were he sold me only what I needed and he was very professional I am going back there to buy bikes for my sons.
Ed has been my mechanic for more years than I can remember even prior to Bike King. Whether you are the experienced racer, recreational / sport rider, or occasional canal rider, Bike King should be the place to go for all your bikes, clothing, and accessories. Buying online may save you a few $$ but knowledge of the right equipment and proper fit will make riding an enjoyable and safe experience.
I rarely write a review, especially a negative one, but my experience at this shop made my whole family uncomfortable, and I really feel like I have to say something.I do want to say that the guy at the store IS very knowledgeable and informative, so if you dont mind being barked at and treated like an idiot, then this place is still worth visiting.I went to the shop at 4pm on Monday 1/16/17 with my wife and my 11-year-old son. My son has been having a hard time finding a bike thats right for him, so we decided to stop messing around and go to a real bike shop.I did my best to describe the trouble weve been having looking for a bike at places like Toys R Us. I told the man at Bike King that my son wants a bike that can change gears, but he doesnt want a mountain bike. I now understand why this is fundamentally impossible, but I never meant to hit such a nerve.During his irritated rant about how we could have one or the other but not both, it became clear that he could intuit that what we really meant was that we actually did want a mountain bike, but just one that isnt too big. I cant help but feel that there must have been a friendlier way to help us come to that understanding without shouting and embarrassing everybody. The whole reason we came to the shop instead of just ordering something online is because we needed someone to help us figure out what we want.At some point, things calmed down a little, and we were able to get some really good advice about what it seems like we are looking for in a bike. We put in an order, and the man said he would call us when shipments for this size bike came in so my son could try a few bikes out and ride them around and find the one that was just right, and then we could have one built for us.As soon as we got back in the car my son said, Can we please get my bike from somewhere else? That guy was really mean and I dont want to go back in there. He went on to say that hes afraid he would end up getting something he doesnt want because he wouldnt feel comfortable asking questions. And I dont blame him. I was thinking the same thing.I work in retail sales myself, and I honestly know what its like to have dumb customers ask annoying questions. I work for an indirect retailer for a wireless carrier, and it can be really frustrating to get some customers to grasp the difference between the gigabytes on thier devices hard drive and the gigabytes in thier monthly data plan. Or they want something for nothing, or they make assumptions about how they think the business should operate, or they have unrealistic needs. I can get really annoyed with my customers. But I also understand that the reason they are coming to my store asking for my help instead of buying their devices online is BECAUSE they dont know all this stuff. So Im not a jerk to them.I swear Im not some stuck up, entitled, easily offended the-customer-is-always-right kind of person. This guy was awful. I dont know if he was just having a bad day, or if hes always like that or what. But Im really not exaggerating. The way he talked to us really took me by surprise and left me kind of speechless for a second. He eventually gave us exactly the kind of advice we needed, and he definitely helped us figure out what we want, but we will be buying it from somewhere else. Ill drive to Philly if I have to, but I cant go back to Bike King.
Overall Great experience!
He wanted to charge me an arm and a leg for a part and labor. I took my bike to bicycle pro in Bordentown, they only charged me $17.00.
Been going to Ed for years whenever we need a bike, shoes, pleats or anything related because he knows his business. It is also a pleasure to purchase from someone who is kind, friendly and patient with all your questions.
Bike King is without a doubt a superb bike shop. Ed Preston is as helpful, knowledgeable, friendly, honest, and trustworthy shop owner as you will find. He will provide great advice and keep the customer’s best interest in mind, even if it doesn’t translate into the biggest profit for the store.Service is high quality, fairly priced and very fast. It is not common to get next-day or even same-day service at a bike shop. Well, this is exactly what you get at Bike King. You will find top of the line, high-profile brands at this store. Pinarello, Giant, BH, Haro, Campagnolo, Easton, Mavic, Vittoria, Sidi, Diadora, and Louis Garneau are some of the product lines Ed proudly carries at his shop.Bottom line, if you want high quality products, fast service, fair prices, and outstanding customer service that will satisfy for all your cycling needs, Bike King is the shop for you. Go check it out for yourself. You’ll become a customer for life. I know I did!
Very helpful and friendly
Excellent service for buying or repair.
My father went to this shop to fix the rims of his tires, since the bike fell off his car one day driving home for work. Him and I went there last week and were told the estimated price for each tire would be $20 and they would be done by this Thursday. My father went to pick them up on Friday and they were not done, so he goes for a drive(note: we live a good 20 or so minutes away) and went to a store near my home. About 25 minutes later he gets a call and goes to picks them up. The problem was the price was $30 a tire and got to about $80 in overall price. More than my father was expecting. He gets home puts the tires on his bike and the one tire does not spin fully like it should. Horrible job on the rim would not recommend and will never come back.
I honestly dont see how this business stays opened with the attitude of the owner. He is incredibly rude! If I could give this place zero stars, I would but unfortunately Google requires at least one star to write a review.
No one knows sets up a bike better then ed
Fill all your bike needs
Very rude, unprofessional behavior. I stopped in to ask about a rack for my bike. Maybe because I only had a cheap Walmart bike, the owner acted like he couldnt get me out of the store fast enough
The owner was Very rude and unwelcoming
Knowledgeable and always helpful...
I will never buy a department store bike again.
I dont recommend this bike shop...
Staff was very helpful...thanx Ed
