This is a relatively small store, but clean and it seems to have reasonable prices. Mostly it has prepared Japanese food, but quite a few ingredients also. I was looking for tempura flakes, and the clerk went and found them for me in the back. Good service. If no one is in the store, ring the bell.
I absolutely loved it!! It smelled okay, but there were so many new things that Ive never tried! I highly recommend the Bing Bing cone snacks, they are very sweet so I can only eat about one at a time, but the strawberry ones are so yummy!! They employees were beyond kind! I can also recommend Strawberry Mochi! Have a great day!!
It’s a small store but it has everything I need. The staff are extremely friendly and help me when I have trouble finding something
Really friendly and a decent selection for the space they have.
Absolutely love the snacks and noodles choices here! It got such great variety of food and seasonings.
What a great little japanese grocery store. Wish we e one in our hometown.
Friendly staff and great options at great pricing.
This place is such a treasure Ive never heard of. I was on the hunt for dumpling wrappers and went to three different asian/international stores looking, but was only finding egg roll/spring roll wrappers. Lo and behold, I happened upon this store, what a great place! Small but efficient operation. The woman who runs the shop is very courteous, tremendously helpful.I would definitely check this out for Asian/Japanese cuisine ingredients before looking elsewhere.
This is one of my favorite places. The shop keeps are super kind. The store is small but thats how it is in Japan too. All my favorites are here and in stock. Please go visit them and try everything once.
Great little Japanese/Asian store.
The lady was so friendly and nice! Me and my boyfriend have been there together twice now, once last year on my birthday and now an his. All of the food is nice and well stocked. And from what we bought, everything tastes good too. None of it is stale or anything. We bought a tea set and the one we grabbed had no handle and she happily went to the back and grabbed us an unopened set. She even went to the back to see if she had any more of a certain produck. Overall 100% friendliness and cleanliness. We will go again.
Ayame is lovely and by far the best Asian market around Lexington. Its very clean, has fresh imported food, and the staff are friendly! Theyve got plenty of nice products, I just wish there was more :) Id happily get lost in there forever.
INCREDIBLE! Easily the most authentic Japanese store we have been to since moving back stateside! (My husband and I lived in Japan for some time) the store owners are incredibly kind and work very hard to get you superior products imported for incredibly reasonable prices. Id give it more than 5 stars if I could.
Very Nice 😌✔️
Great place. Great service and great selection.
I live basically across the street from the store, and I absolutely love you going to get my food there!! Everything is a decent price! From food to kitchen ware its amazing!! And I got my Udon noodles and miso there for my recipe tonight! It turned out great!! And as everyone else had said, the owners and those who work there are very kind and friendly people. I love it there so much!!! 💯💯💯
This store has amazing mochi ice cream. I’ve only tried the chocolate one so far, but it’s the best mochi ice cream I’ve ever had! The mochi is so soft, and tender! They also have cooking supplies, and plenty of other snacks. I got an onigiri mold there, and it works great!I also recommend their mini custard cream eclairs from the cooler. They’re nice and light with a good flavor.Edited to add that they also have a great deal on sesame oil!
Fantastic selection and good prices. Anything for Japanese cuisine related is here, tons of japanese treats and snacks, and a wide selection of other imported goods. Highly recommend the dorayaki (stuffed pancakes) and my favorite snack is Baby Star ramen. Fried noodles with a delicious chicken flavor that you will not be able to stop munching. The store itself was very clean and the staff was courteous and knowledgeable.
A small market but reasonable prices, excellent selection and friendly service
They have the cutest stuff and a wide variety of curry, treats and drinks. They also have a bunch of condiments. I really enjoy being able to try things see if I like it. They do not have Japanese ketchup maybe Ill keep looking. They do have sake cups, kids rice bowls, nice utensils and frozen meat and tofu so many choices. This place is not well advertised from the street you might miss it but window has a bunch of Dutch Iris (purple and white flowers)
This place has a huge variety for being so small and the staff is always super nice!
What a fun Japanese bodega! You can get anything you want from home goods and sushi grade fish to manga, anime, and J-TV to bulk goods like rice and snacks. Great prices and a variety of options for all of their products! I got some new onigiri molds, umeboshi, corn snacks, salmon, and tuna on my first visit. Im looking forward to stopping by again very soon.
Yay! Japanese market!
A fully-stocked Japanese grocer in Lexington. Found everything I needed. I wish there were a store like this in south of Indy...
Neat little Asian market. They have some good treats with other imported foods and wares. Nice quality and very clean. Very little English, be sure to have an idea of what you are looking for!
Loved this place. Small but there was tons of stuff and lots of variety. The lady working there was the biggest help in the world with finding stuff and gave me great recommendations. Will be going there again and again!
After the recent closure of Seoul, this place has become where I get all my Japanese goods. I feel like it may be *slightly* more expensive than the other asian markets but acceptable considering the products are imported. A wide variety of good ready-made meals, cooking ingredients and treats.
Truly authentic Japanese grocery store. Small in size but huge in variety! Staff is very nice and helpful. A small piece of Japan in Lexington
Great little Asian market with extremely friendly staff!
Nice hidden place to get your Japanese fixings. Staff is very helpful
I went to this store with a friend of mine the first time. I was amazed by all the selection of food and basic Japanese essentials they had for sale. Wonderful Raman selection! Highly recommend for everyone to stop by!Also this Google street view does not help. Just look for a shopping center sign and you should see the ayame name there and its the store with the name and flowers on it.
Small place but used space efficiently. The lady who owns the place is really friendly and personable
Great selection of Japanese food.Hard to find back home.I get to stop here one a year and stock up
Bought my favorite ramen and an adorable lucky cat coffee mug!
Good experience and very helpful finding me what I needed
Very helpful and friendly staff, will definitely be going back for any Asian ingredients I need!
This shop is indeed quite small, but they seem to magically always have what you are looking for. Snacks, drinks, candy, ramen galore~, beauty supplies, DVDs, light housewares, etc. About 1/3 of the store is refrigerated or frozen foods; some pre-packaged meals, some fresh items like seafood. For their fish, the prices are usually better than what you would pay for at other local fish markets, but that also fluctuates AND you wont find the quantity you would find elsewhere. The store definitely carries a nice selection of various items. What Ive always enjoyed about this location is the staff; they have been super friendly and down to earth. They will often be in the back working on packaging their seafood or preparing bentos or taking stock. Some people take offense to this for some reason, but they are just keeping busy and trust their customer base to not steal from them. Also, they will often step out and ask if they can help you find anything. Usually they just let you shop or browse in peace. Finally, I love how connected they stay with the local Japanese communities. If you are looking for Japanese tutors or to score authentic Japanese goods via yard sales or classifieds, this is a great store to stop by and check their bulletin board.
Great selection and great people working to help find exactly whats needed. Thanks for the recommendation!
Such a sweet little market with such a quality selection
Nice staff and a good amount of options to choose from. Fairly typical Asian market.
Great variety on asian food

I speak no Japanese, but wanted to get some treats that Ive gotten from friends before. The woman working there was very nice and understanding, and the prices are very reasonable!

Very good selection, very nice staff.
Great shop to get authentic Japanese ingredients.
Very clean, organized and great prices :)
A nice little Japanese market! Had exactly what I needed, which I was afraid it wouldnt due to the small size.
Its difficult to describe the space that Ayame Market inhabits as anything but small, but the utilization of the space they have is fantastic. Not only do they have a wide array of snacks and candy, something a lot of American shoppers look for, but also a lot of food staples such as rice, sauces, natto, and a fine selection of fresh produce thats difficult to find in standard American grocery stores. They also have fantastic gyoza and mochi, and if you catch them in the early afternoon they have delicious bentos that are freshly made, and theres always something for any palette. They also have beauty products, a small dish selection, books, DVDs, and a little manga, all in original Japanese of course. The customer service is second to none with a courteous and friendly staff, and they were more than happy to help me discover tamago bouro along with other infant appropriate snacks and sweets (I have a nine-month-old who Im trying to ensure doesnt become a picky eater). So take the time out of your day to give them a visit, its definitely worth it!
Small store, but great selection of Japanese foods, candies, cosmetics, bath powder...etc. also great Ramen selection !!You can get Matcha(green tea) KitKat here !! (^O^)/

Small but it’s a niche store so in comparison to the other Asian markets in Lexington it has a larger selection of Japanese products.
