My 14 year old daughter and I have been taking ukulele lessons from Steve of Littleton Bass School for a few months now and we absolutely love it. Steve is a skilled, supportive teacher who clearly loves what he is doing and who is just a stellar human being. We have taken a couple months off due to an insane travel schedule and have really missed having our lessons. They have been a highlight to our weeks. It’s so nice to be able to schedule in some bonding time with my daughter and Steve makes the process so easy. He’s got a beautiful thing going with Littleton Bass School. I would recommend this school very highly to absolutely anyone looking to improve their musical skills or even a beginner taking up a new instrument. I cannot recommend Littleton Bass School enough!
Steve is very knowledgeable of different instruments and is a great teacher for all levels. My daughter is learning the guitar fast and loves going to lessons. He is organized, easy to schedule and we can easily communicate with him. His rates are very reasonable. I would highly recommend Steve to anyone interested in learning to play an instrument.
Steve has been an awesome teacher for both my kids. They both were inspired by the backyard concert they saw with some fantastic performances put on by his students. They are both learning drums and are really enjoying it. Steve clearly loves music and really knows his craft. Littleton Bass school rocks.
My son has been taking guitar lessons with LBS for a year now - and it’s been a fantastic experience! From our first meeting with the owner Steve, who explained his teaching process and safety steps being taken to minimize contact, to helping us choose a guitar to buy - he has gone above and beyond in every way. Lessons are affordable and scheduling is easy. My son comes home excited to share new techniques and tips on playing better and has gone from practicing in his room alone to occasionally playing for us after dinner. He’s in college now, and working with Steve gives him space of his own to experiment and enjoy playing his guitars - he has both an acoustic and an electric now. Dreams can come true - and it all started with Littleton Bass School giving a restless teen a chance to discover his creativity thru music. Thanks, LBS!
Littleton Bass School is a great place to learn how to play -- whether its bass, ukelele or guitar. Steve has created a positive, open culture where people can grow musically and have fun at the same time.
Awesome! I have learned so much and I have only been going there a short while. Cool. There was a concert this year and it was one of the most fun concerts I have ever played. Yep. I love this place, Mr. Combs is a great bass teacher. Sko eags, If you dont play bass he teaches other things too! Guitar, ukulele and stand up bass too.
Awesome performances at the outdoor recital/concert. What a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon! 👍🥇👏
Steve has done a phenomenal job expanding my comfort zone with bass playing. I went in with more of a garage/punk background so mainly 3 to 5 chord songs at a fast pace and pretty sloppy. The growth for me has been pretty eye opening and I find that I love mimicking some of the greats and incorporating expanded styles into my playing. I still love my garage punk, but finding I play that style less as my horizons expand. Thanks Steve!!
Great atmosphere and music. Enjoyed watching my wife, Karen, perform.
Steve is an exceptional teacher. Each lesson is tailored to the style of music the student enjoys. The lessons provide the right amount of challenge to improve my bass skills. Highly recommend Littleton Bass School!
Steve has really helped improved my bass playing skills. Ive had other instructors in the past, and he is far and above the best Ive experienced. He spends time not only telling you the how, but more importantly, the why. Lots of great (and relevant) songs used to help with exercises and theory. Hes also great in helping with your own projects/songs. I highly recommend Littleton Bass School!
Musicians, do you play the bass or want to? Are you looking for a good teacher to get you started or to progress in your playing? Ideally a bass player wants to work with a long time bassist and if this describes you look no further than Littleton, CO. Steve Combs not only plays bass, but builds them and loves to teach. Steve has the ability to explain musical concepts in ways that support your way of learning and remembering. The lessons are held outside or online. The outdoor studio is covered by a roof, and open to the air. Student and teacher sit about 16 feet apart which protects against Covid. Different genres are introduced to build a strong base to draw from. The lessons are appropriate for your level, able to be accomplished and then something more challenging is introduced. Steve is fun, extremely knowledgeable, and a great teacher. The best of all worlds.
Every week, my daughter (15) looks forward to her class so much, and has grown in her knowledge and playing skills. I highly recommend this teacher and the school. I finally found a place where she can grow in her music and confidence.
Littleton bass school is the best school you can go to for learning bass and other stringed instruments. Steve the instructor is very well knowledged in teaching you how to become a better player and also makes it very fun to learn. He makes you want to come back for more. He is also very well versed in all genres of music and will teach you the genres you want to learn. I couldnt have a better instructor and friend. Thanks Littleton bass school!!!!
Steve is an absolute master and craftsman. Ive watched him hone his craft for years, only calling an instrument usable if it met his high standards. He made me a custom Combs ukulele and didnt just make it to my exact specs. He also 3-D printed a modification to the body to prevent it from digging into my arm. Amazing. He brings an engineers eye and his years experience as a musician to create beautiful, functional, and musical treasures.
Steve is an excellent teacher and works very well with my daughter. As a result, she is making great progress and really enjoys playing her electric bass guitar. Steve has done a wonderful job bridging the gap between playing a stand up double bass and the electric bass.
I studied with Steve to further my bass playing which is not my main axe but he set me on course to learn what the bass takes. I’m also a music teacher and really appreciate his style, patience and the way he teaches.
Wyatt and I cant say enough good things about Steve; we have been taking Ukulele lessons and have enjoyed every minute!Steve is adaptable to all ages (Wyatt is 6, and Im....not). Steve knows how to bring the joy of music and learning to life for his students-he is professional, patient and encouraging. Thank you, Steve!
Steve is patient, funny and he makes learning a stringed instrument lots of fun. I recommend Littleton Bass School and Steve highly.
Been taking uke lessons. Steve makes the lessons easy (in person or online), and he accommodates my pace and schedule. So I have fun. And he knows his music...I have a lot to learn.
Steve is an incredible teacher. I thoroughly enjoy our time and lessons together he is extremely patient and extremely helpful. He makes playing bass and learning bass that much more enjoyable
I had some work done on my bass and it turned out great! Very professional and easy to work with.
My son has made a lot of progress on the bass since he started lessons with Steve. He enjoys the lessons and looks forward to each one. Steve is a knowledgeable and helpful instructor. We are so happy we found Littleton Bass School!
I played a Fender American Telecaster for decades. I loved this guitar. A classic. The kind of guitar you hold onto for the rest of your life. Steve Combs changed all of that the day I got my hands on a custom built Combs Tele. I love everything about this guitar- its beautiful to look at and even more beautiful to play. Steve custom-built this guitar just for me, tirelessly listening to me ramble on and on about how I want a guitar to feel, to sound, and to inspire. He hit a home-run when he delivered this guitar to me- every detail is absolute perfection! After several months of playing this guitar, I realized I hadnt picked up my Fender once. I can honestly say it felt inferior in my hands and I found myself just wanting to play the Combs Tele instead. I traded the Fender away and havent missed it since! Thanks Steve.
Steve with Littleton Bass School is an incredible and patient instructor, with a great studio space and solid curriculum. Additionally, he is a masterful bassist and passionate about all things (and all types of) music. If there were a 6th star, I would have added it.
