My first trip out in my 95 Sea Ray, the engine starts making funny noises and losing power. Take it to Mutiny Marine in South Lyon and after a $135 diagnostic fee they tell me my engine needs to be rebuilt or replaced. After calling around to compare prices I happened to call Pierre at Tri-City Marine. He immediately questioned the diagnosis and talked to me for quite awhile about my Mercruiser engine . I got a sense that this was a trustworthy and competent mechanic, so I immediately took my boat to him, where after looking at he told me the boat just needed a head gasket job, instead of a full rebuild! And he was done in a couple days, at a fraction of the price. These guys have me as a customer as long as I own a boat.
Took my 1970 Johnson 9 1/2 horse for tune up, very fast service. ran the gas out and fogged the engine and put it in storage in my basement.
Excellent service, very friendly and very knowledgeable about boats. I will always take my boats here and recommend this place to all.
Use them multiple times on a old boat others are afraid to work on, great work, great service.
Reasonable guys that get the job done right.Have used them several times always get it fixed right the first time and charge reasonable prices.
Pierre and Nate are HONEST, provid personal customer service by actually caring about their completed work and reputation. They have gone above and beyond, helping us as newer boat owners. We had an experience with a horrible place (I-94 Marina, Gary, rude, 0 customer service, took advantage of our lack of knowledge, DONT GO TO I-94 Marina) Pierre and Nate fixed our main issue immediately! R&L will take care of you. Make no mistake and establish a relationship with this company! Please note, when you pull in their driveway, go to the back building. The first one is a different company. We love and appreciate all of you help, Pierre and Nate!!
Very nice folks and very knowledgeable
Owner is awesome. Good guy to get to know and he is knowledgeable and very fair. Just a great guy to know.
Owner is amazing! Honest! Never go anywhere else! :)
Don’t think they can be trusted. Had the same problem with boat at least 3 times. Rebuilt carb and drained the gas each time. Boat still didn’t run right. Always quick to say there is water in gas. Will not go back.
We get our boat winterized here every year
Awesome service good prices. These guys do this for the love of the water. I will come to this brick and mortar over buying online anytime.
Guys are good, I bring my boat in every year for winterizing. Service is quick if you call ahead to make an appointment.
I usually dont post reviews, but this time I have to. I took my boat to R&L to have some work done on it. They replaced the prop shaft on my Volvo SX drive. $1000 later I thought everything was good. I took the boat out the following day and noticed that the prop and shaft were extremely loose and had a ton of play. I took it back to them and they said they would tighten up bearing housing carrier and adjust it correctly. Why this wasnt done the first time, I have no idea. Anyway, I thought it was fixed again. Since them Ive had gear oil leaking from the prop shaft seal. It started off slow and I barely noticed it, and it progressivly got worse. I cant be 100% sure, but my guess would me that the seal was damaged from when the prop shaft was loose after their original repair since it was flopping around. My invoice doesnt show that they replaced it again after I took it back. Anyway, since then I called them and they told me its unrelated and that I would have to pay a few hundred $ to have them replace that seal again. Its worth mentioning that Ive never had a leak on this drive since it was new with the original parts. Strange coincidence that its leaking after they worked on that area. Now I am going to have to spend a couple hundred dollars to have it replaced again. If anyone knows a reputable shop that can do the work? I will not be spending money again with R&L.
Very professional and friendly. I am very pleased with them everytime I go!
Took my boat here for loss of power. They told me it needed carb rebuilds 839$. Which was already done. So I diagnosed it myself and turns out to be the stator. This is what you get for 30years experience they said. I dont recommend anyone to go here.
My outboard motor on my pontoon boat lost a cylinder and I took it the R&L he checked it out and said it wasnt worth fixing, he didnt charge me very much for the check. Talking with the owner I felt confident that he was a real sincere guy, knew his motors and would do a good job at a fair price.
Bad experience boat was brought in for the same thing 4 times with a outstanding repair bill they should rename the business trial & error marine.
Good food
Pierre is great
