I ordered a cake big enough for 20 people and 24 cupcakes 5 days before my party. They did an absolutely amazing job responding to my emails, I went into the store unannounced to finalize the details, pay and they had all of my information and emails printed and ready for them to use. The cake was stunning, moist and so delicious, my guests LOVED the cupcakes. I grabbed a key lime cupcake as a quick taste test when I went into the store and fell in love. They are a serious recommendation for your next event!

Cakes XO has been a delight to work with for our 4th of July wedding cake! Joanne was very fast in communicating and we really enjoyed doing a tasting with her. Our cake came out perfectly - just what I hoped for. I sent a few images and she combined them all into my vision! We did Lemon cake with Raspberry frosting, and Red Velvet cake with cream cheese frosting. SO GOOD! We love all the other treats we’ve bought from the shop, and we will surely be lifelong customers. Cakes XO has delicious cakes with a variety of options. Day of wedding our cake was moist and flavorful. Joanne is very responsive to emails/calls and reasonably priced. She gives her honest opinion and helped bring our cake design to life! She was easy to work with when having to reschedule our original date due to covid without any issues. Would highly recommend for wedding desserts!

I called Cakes XO for a last minute custom tiered cake for my sons race car themed first birthday and they gave me exactly what I was looking for. Not only was the cake darling but it was delicious too. I would definitely recommend Cakes XO!

Awesome cake! Inside and out! We went for the marble cake with strawberry filling and whipped cream icing. It was definitely a hit. Many complements were given and everyone asked where we got it from. This is one of the best cakes we’ve gotten by far.

Besides having the most fabulous bakery goods and cakes, I know 1st hand that the owner is an upstanding boss. My daughter worked at Cakes XO through junior college, and learned a lot about production, time management, and responsibility. When she was learning, JoAnne let her take home her 1st decorated cake. She also let the employees occasionally take home the day old cakes and cookies. That was a treat for the whole family. My daughter loved working at the bakery.

Worst place I have ever worked, owner paid me A LOT less than other employees, and told us not to tell each other how much we got paid. Didn’t send me my last cash envelope when I quit, and could not even spell my name right after working there for like a year. She was so rude to customers and talked badly about everyone who walked in the door. There was no training and so much product was thrown away or went bad, ie. why everything is so expensive. You can get cake here, but the owner mistreats the employees. Do better.

We’ve ordered all of our cakes here for the past year and have been impressed with flavor, deliverables and pricing each time.I recommend giving them a try - we are and will continue to be return customers.

Love this hidden gem. Of late our family has resorted to last minute, chain store cakes for special occasions and have been very disappointed. Today we remembered how much we liked XO Bakery’s items in the past and stopped in. We were fortunate they had a couple extra cakes in the front fridge and they customized one for our daughter’s birthday. We even grabbed a gluten-free cake pop for mom.WOW! What a difference a real bakery cake makes. It was delicious and moist, unlike the chain-store cake.I’d highly recommend XO Bakery for any special occasion needs, or even a special work day of cupcakes. BUT, you might want to call a day in advance, because I’m not sure everyone would be lucky enough to find an extra cake waiting.

Had our wedding cake plus 100 cupcakes made as wedding favors by cakes xo. We were beyond thrilled about the final product. We wanted a simple cake look but wanted lots of flavors, and we were not disappointed!! Everything was fresh and delicious. A bonus was that cakes xo offers individual containers for cupcakes which made the treats extra Covid friendly plus easy for guests to pick up as a takeaway. Staff were extremely friendly, accommodating, and a pleasure to work with. I’d highly recommend!!!!

Wife and daughter are gluten sensitive, therefore we are always on the lookout for quality baked goods. The family is cupcake crazy so you may not know why anyone would drive 2 hours through Chicago traffic /not rush hour/ to reach this rustic rural old house in the country. Ramps front and rear, with a simple presentation of their baked goods. The decorating IS THE CAKES, COOKIES, AND CUPCAKES. The two ladies here spoiled us. Im the dad off sugar so they made a new pot of coffee for me while my son and daughter bought the gluten free cake and multiple cupcakes. We are from Michigan and found the prices in the same ballpark, usually double the price of normal baked goods. The question becomes, Is the taste deserving of the drive and cost? Absolutely! Wife and daughter had half the cake gone before the Michigan state line. Son had demolished his lemon cupcakes and my daughter showed huge control by saving the grandkids cupcakes all the way home. See the bean, and the YMCA leaning tower, but if you have a cupcake crazy in your family, cake xo is worth the drive and money. We are not related to these people, just went by rating. Got nothing for review but a great product and a good price with a fantastic attitude.

Saturday was my 2nd time ordering cake from them. The cake is always absolutely delicious and moist. The buttercream frosting was perfect and the decorating is phenomenal! Highly recommend!!! Thanks for making my sons day, special for the 2nd year!

Cake was fantastic! We just didnt really get enough communication as to when the cake was sent out or that it had arrived on our special day. They went out of their way to deliver it almost 2 hours out of their way and it arrived and it was spectacular! It just killed us as we didnt know if it had been delivered or if it was on its way. Other than that it was fantastic Thanks so much for making our day special as everyone raved about their cake!

We ordered a cake for my sons Baptism and surprise birthday cake for my SIL. The quality of the cake was amazing. We had so many compliments on it. We ordered an almond cake with almond buttercream and raspberries. The second cake was marble with whipped cream. The delivery was on time and we had no issues. We will definitely order from them again.

They did an awesome job on my sons avengers themed cookies for his birthday and they tasted delicious! The only complaint I have was when I was ordering online, they did not mention there was an extra $5 charge for them to be wrapped individually and there was a $5 charge for a small white box they put them in. I didn’t need either of those so I could have saved the $10 if they were to mention there was extra fees for that.

Our daughters first birthday smash cake came from Cakes XO and it was perfect. It looked exactly how we wanted it, and she obviously loved the way it tasted.

Cakes XO is great. I got a cake that was shaped to a number 2 for my sons 2nd birthday party. I wanted it to be sports theme and they followed the instructions on the cake very well. The owner Joanne is a wonderful person who is very patience and has great customer service. I highly recommend them. And the cake taste so good. All my guests loved it as well. Great taste and great design. Thumbs up.

I got a Groupon for their cake. I spoke with Joanne via phone, through email, and in person. She really understood what I had visioned for my sister in laws bridal shower cake. They did a wonderful job. Everyone loved how elegant the cake looked and how amazing it tasted! I would definitely recommend this place. P.S I sent photos to see what was reasonable to do within a price range and the photo helps so they have a better idea of what you want the cake to look like.

Favorite cupcake is hard to pick, but that bacon cream cheese one sure makes me smile. :) Kolackys are perfectly sweet, not overly. Highly recommend this business!

I am so embarrassed to show this cake at my daughters first birthday party. I was really excited to find this place. I told them i wanted a dr Seuss theme and i had emailed them the different characters that i would of liked on there. They had a picture of what was supposed to be Dr. Seuss on the cake that they made that looks like a skinny cat with small weird looking eyes and no other characters. On top of that the happy 1st birthday goes from small lettering to bigger lettering and it is slanted. It pretty much looks like they ran out of time and hurried up to put something together even though i ordered it a week in advance. I would defiantly NOT recommend going here. This cake was supposed to be special and they have ruined it. I don’t know what i am going to do with this cake now.

This was our second time getting a cake with Cakes XO and we will always continue to! We ordered a marble cake with pudding filling that was OUTSTANDING! It was super moist and I couldn’t hand out the cake fast enough. Everyone was just as complimentary over it too. The staff decorated the cake perfect for our dinosaur themed party. The staff is always so nice and helpful whenever I have been in...also their cookies are really good too! Definitley recommend this place to anyone looking for great service and delicious treats

I ordered Cakes XO for the first time for my sons 1st birthday. I emailed with Joanne some ideas of what I was looking for. She was super nice via email and very responsive. When I went to pick up the cake I was speechless, it looked amazing! I couldnt wait to get it home and set it up on the dessert table. Once we cut into the cake every raved about how delicious it was. I have never had so many people give so many compliments about a simple yellow cake with chocolate buttercream filling. I will certainly be ordering again!

Let me just say, the only reason I am giving 2 stars instead of one is because of customer service and the people answering the phones are very nice and also helpful.I called to place an order for a princess smash cake for my daughters birthday photos. I picked the cake up today, the day of the photos, only to see the most pathetic attempt at a tiara I could have imagined.When I discussed what I was looking for in the cake and the lady said a tiara in front of the cake I had imagined a fondant type 3d tiara. Little did I know when I picked up the cake it was just the outline of a tiara on the front of the cake that looks like a 4 year old did it.Thank God I can turn the cake around for photos and pretend it doesnt exist. Other than the tiara, the cake is cute and what I had envisioned. I am disappointed that the cake designer would sell this cake with this tiara looking this way.

Joanna and her staff do an excellent job of creating cakes with beautiful designs aso well as awesome coffee cakes and cake balls. This place is one of my familys go to bakeries they never disappoint.

I got cupcakes & iced sugar cookies. I was not impressed at all by the product size, taste or price. These cupcakes are quite small for the price compared to many of the other cupcake bakeries in the area. While the cake was moist and had a good taste again they were small and the cream cheese frosting was bitter and tasted a little to sour. While they were cute and there was a wide range flavors we probably wont be back. I dont post this to bash as I see there are a lot of great reviews these particular cupcakes are just not for us. The cookies are very cute but very little to no flavor and are extremely hard. Staff was also friendly and helpful!
