Mona (the owner) is a great example of Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hide. She was kind, sweet and informative until things didnt go her way and she became obnoxious, catty and accusatory...basically as unprofessional as could be. Even while pretending to be sincere, it was painfully obvious she was struggling to appear genuine.She made two insultingly-low offers, to both which I declined, which prompted her to accuse me of using her to get prices (which made no sense because thats what eBay is for). She then stated she would no longer give me offers first, I now had to make the first offer because thats now how she does business. Pardon me dear, but it was exactly how you did business when you made the first two ridiculous offers. She went on to say she was looking forward to and hoping we could do business together but we probably cant because I was the one being unprofessional.I said ok, started packing up my items and she began to back-track and explain why her offers were so low and hoped wed still be able to work something out. Another statement she made was I was willing to help you out because I know you dont have a lot of knowledge about vintage items but now I see youre dishonest and I feel you came here to use me. Wait, what?! My exact statement was I looked up a lot of this stuff on eBay and that was the only info I had which I had no reason to be deceitful about.I was truly looking forward to and very appreciative for her guidance until it became clear that this woman is nothing more than an egotistical narcissist who, when didnt get her way, became incensed to a moronic level. I understand over-head costs and the necessity to make a profit. I was fully prepared to accept substantially less than the value of my items but her repeated pretentious outbursts were too much.Every time I declined an offer, she retorted with a verbal jab or an outburst like that of child. I was done giving her the benefit of the doubt. In the end, her ignorance cost her a substantial amount of profit and Im sure this isnt the first time. I dont want to be vindictive nor cause any harm. Ive recounted the interaction to the best of my memory and even left out some of the nastier comments.This woman obviously wasnt just like this with me and in my opinion does not deserve any business. I can only image how she treats her husband, who seems like a solid guy with a good head on his shoulders. That guy, I truly feel bad for.What about the elderly? Im sure the elderly are a large customer base and although her little fits and rants were comical to me, an elderly man or woman might feel pressured to make an irrational agreement with this woman.I believe her to be a wretched individual who is self-centered beyond repair and hopefully others will read my rant (or at least some of it) and avoid this merchant.

This was our fourth time going to The Purple House and really enjoyed it. We purchased several beautiful pieces of furniture here. Today we went, as we are looking for a dresser and night stands for our guest bedroom. We saw a beautiful piece marked half price at $150 and a matching night stand also marked half price at $99. We asked if she would take $200 for both to which we received a brisk flat “no!” We are rating this place low, not because we received a flat no, but because her delivery was rude and most definitely could use some finess. We won’t be back. Too bad.

Have been here several times. Always find a good bargain or two. Friendly staff and lots to choose from.

I share 1 Star because I came in for a desk that I wanted but it wasn’t in good shape for its price. I decided to buy a cookie jar that was 4.99. I take it up to the cashier and the lady starts to wrap it up and then tells me this is too cheap to be sold to me. There was a same jar but plastic for 5.99 that came with cooking utensils & the lady said because mine is glass it’s going to be much more. Then she tells me she can’t sell it to me. This store needs to check their prices and get it together. I will not be returning and I will be sure to share this with the community and family and friends so they don’t waste their time at this business.
