My bowsprit was in good shape when my boat went into the yard but broken when I picked the boat up. They denied breaking it and didnt bother to even look at it. It was obviously hit while on the Jacks. The three eighths bolts that hold it were both bent. I was told if it was hit that hard it would have fallen of the jacks. I think they were lucky it didnt fall

Leslie at Cabrillo is a real pleasure to work with! We had our boat painted and electronics installed on our Blackfin. Explains everything upfront and the yard is immaculate. They will be doing any future work on our boat for years to come. Highly recommend!

Great friendly service. Owner Chris Messano has been very attentive to Sumatra’s needs. We will be there for a while as we go through a full wooden boat bottom restore.

New ownership, same shady business. Before bringing my boat to dock it, I made a phone call to the business and spoke with a woman who claimed to be the owners sister.  We had a great chat regarding my boat, I was looking for a place to dock it so I can have it looked by a team, of my choosing, to go over any issues.  She told me they were in the process of obtaining the yard next door and that I could dock my vessel there, basically being their first client in this new space, and that they would only charge me $1,500 a month plus hauling fees.  Between that conversation and time for me to bring the boat over, I had a small boating accident, which I didnt think would change anything from my previous conversation with the shop.So when the day arrived, I brought the boat over to the shop and the owner, Chris, completely did a 180 when he saw the damage to my boat.  He tells me that I cant have my guys look over my boat and do the work because he would lose out on a ton of money, also stating he wanted to file a claim to my insurance company so he can obtain all the funds for himself, pocketing the money. I said no, I want to do the work myself.  He flips out and starts ranting about losing money on the deal, etc.  He then said, ok I can do the repairs myself, but whatever money he could have made through the insurance company that I need to pay him that same amount on top of the monthly fees.He said I if I didnt like it, to get my boat the hell out of his yard, also saying I should have read the contract I signed.  To which I replied, you never gave me a copy of the contract, his response, TO BAD.  I told him that I will take my boat and business elsewhere.  He then tells me that he wont accept credit card payment or check that it had to be in cash.  When I came by the next day to pay he had a police officer with him for some reason.  When I gave him the money he wouldnt take it without putting gloves on due to covid, but didnt wear a mask at all.   Please see photos.Thanks  for nothing Chris, aka PAL!

My son and I had a great experience painting the bottom of our Hunter 36 last weekend. We had been dogging rain for three weeks and finally got two days of partial cloud to work. Don lifted our boat out of the water quickly and the yard crew gave us hints on the best methods to get the job done. They even moved the support pads for us so we could complete the job and relaunch on Monday morning. A friendly and fair priced facility.

First time at Cabrillo. Super good care hauling out and in my 37 Sea Ranger.Yard foreman was sharp and had guys focused on the work. Surprisingly inexpensive and did both mechanical ship systems and exterior work. Will definitely go back and recommend to my friends.

Best Shipyard to take your boat in South Bay. Don is old school, he and his crew will paint or repair you boat in a high quality manner at a fair price, you cant ask for better service. The Shop Foreman is Junior, about as knowledgeable as they come. Great friendly service..none better.

I have been there several times for haul out and bottom painting on my 34 sailboat. Great yard foreman and a great job done on everything.

Worst experience I have ever had. Everyone sounds and acts like they are tweaked out on something. The owner and the receptionist are seriously crazy. Promised me they could take me in and then called me the day before and said they are full. I got there and they called me the next day to tell me they couldnt do my boat because it weighs too much....Not one mention of this prior to me arriving. I live aboard so I had to plan everything and they completely ruined my month and now I have a hotel for 5 nights that I dont need and cant afford... Please go to another place where all of your money wont go to drugs.

I did not have a great experience at this boat yard.They did not take the boat out on the day promised, it was two days later. The quality of the bottom prep work was not very good. But they charged us as if they had done a quality job. I would not use them again.

Best place to fix your boat.

Don is a stand up guy and makes things right when they miss the mark. I would do business with them again.

This is the most unprofessional business I have ever dealt with.Their prices are unreasonably high and they dump hidden costs on you.They never keep their promises with time nor are you able to contact them.This place is your worst nightmare!
