I must have gotten lucky when I showed up my first time to this place. Came in looking for a cool case. They re-stringed my violin. Gave me a quick tour of the path of their violin builds. It got packed pretty quickly but I had gotten time to experience the violin world. I want to check out the nice room next time. Great service. Patient. And non-intimidating. Cant wait to sign up for lessons. What a fun experience.
I love going to this store. Owen and his team are helpful, friendly, knowledgable and easy to work with. They work quickly on things like string replacement and re-hair of my bow. Today I went in to upgrade my violin. Kendra and Daniel spent a great deal of time assisting me in that process. There were a number of violins to choose from. Kendra was awesome. She was patient while I made my selection and even played my top choices for me so I could hear them as a listener. Thank you Owen, Daniel, and Kendra. I love my new violin and appreciate the service you have provided over the last year.
Definitely professionals!! Clean and very professional. You can take your instrument and have them check it out and get quoted on repairs. They have the option of renting, and if you decide that you want to keep playing theyll give you a discount on your purchase. They have everything!! Very welcoming and super nice!
Very nice but didnt inform me Id need a debit card and 3 months payment in advance. Also dont offer donated violins to Trafficking or Domestic Violence survivors who can play again after botched shoulder surgery, also after having had to complete 20 yrs worth of yoga in order to be able to play again, also having had to flee cross-country. Unfortunate. :-(
Negative experience: I ordered a 600 dollar case thinking it would protect my violin for many years to come. After 2 light uses, a chunk chipped off the exterior coating, which is supposed to be strong in a violin case... It could have been nothing other than a manufacturer defect due to my extremely light usage. After I reported it within 2 weeks of purchase, the LA violin staff assured my they could take care of it,that they would exchange the case and asked me to email a picture, etc. But then never followed up with me. After I called inquiring about the lack of follow-up, they told me there was nothing they could do and offered me a $100 gift certificate. If you are a hardworking musician, please do not waste your money here! Or on Gewa cases.
Excellent retouching and cleaning of my instrument, plus a quick and effective soundpost adjustment. Helpful and skilled team. Highly recommended. Thank you!
They did an excellent job restoring a old and precious violin. I highly recommend them!
Really nice place. I got my daughters violin string fix here. They were very happy to help and even helped us tune it.
Great staff, instruments, bows, etc. Everyone is very helpful and kind.
I visited the violin shop today and everyone was super kind, knowledgeable, and helpful. They let me try some of their violins, and I was really impressed with the selection of instruments! I tried one of the violins made by Jiwon, one of the luthiers, and the quality was superb! It had a very beautiful, resonant sound with a lot of depth and projection.I would highly recommend their instruments to anyone who is looking to buy or rent a new instrument. Shoutout to Kendra, Owen, and Jiwon for the wonderful experience! :)
Called in the morning and scheduled an appointment. Once there, the staff was very nice and helpful. I was shopping for a violin for my niece (9yo beginner). They inspected the violin to make sure everything was okay. They were nice and told me to call if I had any concerns or questions. I highly recommend this place if youre looking for high quality instruments and service.I prefer to shop locally than online because quality and customer support can be a gamble when shipping online.
Hoy guys are amazing... you take good care of my baby, thank you!
The staff is so kind and welcoming. I’m an adult beginner and they helped me get everything I needed to start learning. I almost bought a cheap violin from guitar center but I’m SO glad I did the rental program here instead!
The people are very professional and nice. I can go to the store every week. I like the energy. Quality and those bows are really great!
This is an excellent violin shop. Although almost all the violins were out of our price range, we did get a student full size violin. The store staff were very helpful and they tuned the violin and set it up perfectly. If you do need a violin I highly recommend this store. However if you just want an instrument for a beginner student in grade school, you would have to decide if a $500 dollar violin is worth it.
I was looking for a nearby music school to send my daughter for guitar lessons. Shes already been playing in church band but I want her to improve in her skills. Juan is a really good teacher. He will work according to the students level and will push the student a step higher. My daughters plucking and picking skills are improving and her band members are noticing the improvement as well--which makes me really happy. The tuition is reasonable too.
Nice guy and very helpful
Very professional and helpful.
We had a great violin buying experience for my daughter. Her teacher recommended that she try instruments at this this shop and the more established shop in Hollywood. We were shown about an equal number of instruments at both shops, but in the end the selections didnt compare. We were so pleased at LA Violin Shop that both my daughter and her teacher bought new instruments there. Her new violin is fantastic, priced very well for its value, and they took not one but two trade-ins. Since we spent a fair amount of time trying violins and bows, I appreciated the comfort of the room. This was about 6 weeks ago and were still pleased with the decision. We drove in from the Inland Empire, and it was well-worth the trip. I recommend them.
Very prompt in service
The staff members are really welcoming ^-^ They also offer classes in the space opposite the shop. I am currently taking classes right now and I am really happy to be under the tutelage of my teacher. Their teachers are very talented and they play beautifully. Apart from violins, they also sell shoulder rests, rosin, mutes, books, etc. You may also have your violin repaired here as there are luthiers available. The practice rooms are relatively sound proof, sound does still seep out but it isnt bothersome during lessons. I would like to mention that the shop is located upstairs and there is a sign posted on the door so the entrance is easily spotted. I really do love this shop and Ive had nothing but good experiences here ^-^
I am a violin teacher, and have sent several students to this place. Every student instrument Ive seen has a lovely sound and is a pleasure to play. (The same cannot be said for many inexpensive instruments, especially if theyre ordered online)Daniel is a wonderful resource and his enthusiasm for violins is clear and he goes above and beyond in helping me find the right resources for my needs.
Too long a wait to get served and every one saying so.too much time taken to try and sell d cards and people having to wait a long time to get served.perhaps more training for your staff with regards to serving people would help.
Experts on violins, if you need anything violin-wise or are wanting to learn more this is where you should go!
Owen and his team there are great and very helpful. Love the shop design. Will definitely come by again.
Ive been here multiple times and the staff is always very warm, welcoming and knowledgeable. Sara and Taichiro were great. I was a little skeptical to try a new shop as there are many on the east cost where Im from, but they made me a great bridge and did sound adjustment for me for a very good price. The owner even showed me their workshop and I got to try one of the violins one of their luthiers made. I think this shop is underrated and more people should check it out.
I came into the shop wishing to rent a cello for a short-term stay in LA. I was pleasantly surprised to be given an extremely nice-sounding cello to test out before deciding to rent one. I decided to go with it and was charged an extremely reasonable price, making it realistic for me to pursue music in LA without my own instrument. I used the cello for a professional recording session as well as a purely acoustic session and it worked great for both. If I ever need to buy a cello I am coming here. Not to mention that the staff was extremely friendly, gave me information about not only the classical music community but also local rock groups to help me get started in the area, and offered delicious coffee and chocolates. Highly recommended!
Small violin shop with friendly and knowledgeable staff. Good selection of violins and they recommend violin teachers. Adjacent to parking lot
Definitely will come back here next time Im in the area.
The piano teacher named Rachael (Korean lady)who teaches at LA Violin verbally harassed me via text messages because I decided not to go forward with the lesson. She threatened and attacked me saying I should watch my back because this is a small town? And everyone knows each other? Really? I did nothing wrong! I have never met this women only spoke on the phone and she went off being irrational.Wow! I am surprised how LA Violin can allow this type of behavior from a teacher who teaches little kids.Watch out moms and dads! Rachael will harass you until you get a lesson from her. I am so terrified she is going to call or text me again. She is not normal. My daughter is enrolled in private school right now and will be showing other moms what Rachael has texted me.
The shop was nice and seemed to have a nice amount of violins. Wasnt completely impressed by the selection given the price range I asked for. Not great and not bad just middle of the road.
Very informational experience. Thank you! I will return!
This shop has good quality violin! Well crafted!
Love this place my son wanted to play violin and we got him a beginner instrument the people are super helpful knowledgeable . I went to a different shop before they were very snobby. Didnt mind paying the price these people here are awesome
Great place to find violins. Nice owner as well.
The craftsman ship here is truly amazing. They go above and beyond to help you. I wish I had bought my cello here!
Recommended!!! I have been going to this shop for about 5 years (repair, bow rehair,.. etc). Recently, I purchase a violin from this shop - they accept my old violin(purchased from other shop) as a trade-in.Love the new violin!! AAA+++
They refinished, and reworked my violin. My violin has a long, strange history but after the work they did it just sings. I always liked the sound of the A and E strings but felt the G and D sounded stuffy. Now the sound is pure and clear. The instrument now looks great, sounds great and plays great. Thanks guys! I couldnt be happier!
It was wow I love my violin it was great if u are barely starting they will help u
Needed a violin in a hurry the staff is excellent their hours are amazing and the violin choice is phenomenal

Quality, Kind, Nice place
Kind staffs, professional .
Good good good
It was so kind and nice~ It was so nice to have a variety of sizes~ There is a teacher who directly chooses the size that suits the child and also gives violin lessons, so I was able to give lessons and it was very good~ I highly recommend it~
At the beginning of the violin was heard to repair used violin. Thanks for the detailed guidance and guide.
If you are looking to buy or learn the violin, you might want to stop by at least once...
