Best money I have spent in awhile. Mr. Neely did a fabulous job setting and rehabbing my Martin acoustic. He was timely and pleasant. My guitar feels so fresh. I will be bringing my electric over soon!

I was happy to be gifted a nice Martin acoustic but after a day or two I had fret buzzing issues. I left the guitar in Davids hands & he immediately noticed the wood was a bit dry, action was too low & fret edges were rough. After the repair, I was totally pleased, no more fret buzz, excellent action setup & fret edges were dressed & smooth on the hands when moving up and down the fretboard

Mr. Neely is the best. I got my Martin set up at another nearby shop in LA (wont be named) and they truly made a mess of it. So, I decided to visit the master, Mr. Neely himself to get it right. You can drop your guitar off and receive a thorough diagnosis of the problem, the price quoted accurately upfront, and the timeline laid out for you with total transparency. Other reviewers have noted that Neely charges more for service than some of the chains and larger repair services in the city, but the difference in cost is seriously negligible for the quality of service and the peace of mind. My Telecaster, which was all out of whack when I bought it used off Facebook, looks and feels brand new. David made insanely fine adjustments to the nut that I already had when another shop had insisted that I needed to replace it with one of their custom nuts, which cost $90 apiece. Couldn’t be more pleased to have found the best spot to take my guitars in LA. Also David is just an awesome guy who you’ll be glad to have met.

A couple years ago I bought a 2018 Gibson Les Paul Standard and we fell in love. Six months into our affair my new puppy pulled it off of its stand and the headstock snapped off. Let it be known that I was devastated. I took it to Neely and he fixed it. Good as new.Fast forward to a month ago and the same exact thing happens, except this time my dog wasnt the culprit! Headstock broke in a different location and I was gutted. I thought theres no way this thing gets repaired twice over on the exact same break. I took it to Neely and yet again he fixed it as good as new.I cant recommend his services enough. He also did a tune up on a Martin that I hadnt taken very good care of. All three repairs have been outstanding. Hes the best in town!

I took my Martin 000-28 and HD12-28 for a set up and they came out perfect. Both are now extremely playable and a joy to play. I couldn’t be happier quality and attention to the work. Both of these Martins now sound like a Martin should. Thanks David!

Dave Neely is an amazing guitar whisperer. No wonder he has restored and repaired guitars and other stringed instruments for a vast array of the best known musicians of the last four decades - people who can afford to go anywhere. I had been told my old Martin D-28, which had been sitting unused in the case for over 30 years, would have to go back to Nazareth to have the neck removed for set-up. Then someone told me about Neely Guitars. I was more than a little intimidated when I saw the list of customers Dave has posted on his website. I shouldnt have been. He is a personable, genuine guy from Nashville who just loves guitars. Dave took a look at my Martin and said he could set it up to make it playable again. In fact, his work was transformative. The guitar plays and sounds better than it did when I bought it in 1972. Truly remarkable!

Highly recommend going to Neely to get any work done on your rig. If you love your guitar dont settle for an amateur. Dave has done excellent work replacing a body on my Taylor acoustic and is currently fixing the mistakes another less reputable repair guy did. Just dropped another guitar off with Dave after he worked wonders on a misbehaving Les Paul of mine. I’ve done my own setups for years and whilst I’m confident in my own abilities, sometimes you can’t be sure if you’ve got your guitar playing as easily as it possibly can. After Dave gets his hands on it you won’t need to wonder anymore. You don’t have a career like his and get a client list like that without knowing what’s what. A big thank you to David Neely for his masterful work on my Taylor 310! I have a 2005 Taylor 310 that has an ES1 pick up system which broke down recently. Since Taylor discontinued the ES1, I had no choice but to go with the upgraded ES2 system—which was the best decision of my life! Normally, you have to ship your guitar all the way down to the Taylor factory with a turnaround time of approximately 1 month, but with Neely guitars, it was less than 2 weeks! David Neely is also certified with Taylor guitar, and his work came with a 2 year warranty. Awesome job, sir! As you can see from the photo, he had to drill 3 holes for the new ES2 system. Now my guitar sounds better than ever! Did I mention that he gave me a free tune up/set up with the upgrade?

I will share my entire experience and will be respectful.I went to Mr. Neely for an acoustic re glue bridge. When I got there Mr. Neely asked for a receipt of where I got it. So I gave all my information and was told I would be called after he got in touch with Zzounds wich is where I purchased my guitar. I waited 2 weeks until I decided to call because I didint hear from Mr. Neely, I ask for an update of my guitar. He said it be ready on the 3rd week. The 3rd 4th 5th and finally the 6th week came and he called me to tell me it was done. I would love to share a picture, honestly, for 6 weeks and for that quality I regret not doing it myself. Maybe I was one of the unlucky persons to have a bad experience here. My father and I own 3 dry cleaners and when we tell our custumer there clothes will be ready they are ready by the date they are told, and we do our best quality work. We dont give excuses on something we may have missed and try to keep our custumers happy to come back. Since I got there Sir I was polite and Im being polite now. As a custumer I am really disappointed, I was exited to have my guitar done there because of the history in your shop, I guess not everyone gets the same treatment. Stay well Sir.

With so much mediocre work being done by so many guitar techs, it’s easy to forget or even be aware of what a truly professional set-up can do for your guitar. In my experience, when Dave works his magic, my guitars come back with a clarity of tone and playability that I had never experienced. He recently worked on my ’69 Les Paul to reset the neck pickup. The original P-90s at some point had been inexpertly switched to humbuckers. Nonetheless, I always thought it played beautifully and sounded killer – that is, until Dave worked on it. What came back was a guitar that felt and sounded like a custom shop instrument. After owning and playing a good vintage instrument for many years, you develop an emotional attachment to it. Having it come alive as it did really warmed my heart. But after all, Dave is not just a guitar tech, he brings seriously neglected and damaged guitars back to life – electric or acoustic. Those are the skills of a luthier not just a tech. With good reason he’s authorized by all the major brands and trusted by top professional players. Look no further!

Original side dots and pearl inlays removed. Four new, strategically placed side dots inlayed at G, B, E and G. Gorgeous, like new finish. Impeccable set up and plays effortlessly. Brought in my strat that was sounding like an analog synth machine (cool effect if I could have controlled that sound) and I couldn’t figure out why. David could have soaked me for hundreds of bucks trying to work it out, but first checked the battery and connector and found corrosion on the posts. He cleaned it off and sent me on my way, and I can now say that I can’t imagine trusting anyone else with my guitars ever again. Stand up guy who knows his stuff. Thanks, David!

Ive been a professional musician since 1965 and Ive had a lot of people work on my guitars over the years, but none of them were a patch next to David Neely. Hes THE best there is, and I know thats saying a lot. But dont take my word for it, ask some of the biggest names in the business - David has worked on some of the most iconic guitars in the world ( Steve Howe of Yes famed 1964 Gibson for one ), and has repaired, restored, customized and set up instruments for everyone from Paul McCartney to Joe Bonamassa. My beloved Taylor 710CE had a very unfortunate accident, resulting in a broken neck and cracked body. I searched high and low for the best luthier in Los Angeles, and multiple sources (written reviews and YouTube videos) all seemed to point to one guy: David Neely at Neely Guitars.Upon meeting David, I knew my guitar was literally in the best possible hands. This was proven true when I picked up my guitar a couple weeks later. I gave Dave the most difficult and impossible electric bass repair. He had to fabric a piece of wood so that one of the wings of my Spector neck through would attach again. It was impossibly difficult because I had unevenly sanded the neck through body attempting the repair myself before I sent it to Neeley Guitars. This means that David had to match exactly a 1.5 of completely uneven wood tp reattach the a wing of the body. Absolutely perfect work and David made a miracles happen! Yours, Jim L

Dave setup a 72 Strat I recieved fresh off the FedEx truck. I needed an experts eye and touch on my guitar before I did anything and I chose the best man out there. The Strat feels and plays great! Super cool guy all smiles and good vibes. I wouldnt go anywhere else in the future!

David and I worked together for a couple of years out of Westwood Music, and I can tell you, there are very few luthiers who are as skilled at both acoustic and electric guitar and bass repair as David. Hes been there and done that as a touring musician, a road warrior guitar tech (for Waylon Jennings), electronics tech, and full service luthier. He should be your #1 go-to guy in the whole LA basin.

Dave Neely is a guru. His work is impeccable, there is no problem (thus far) that he cant solve. I have over 20 guitars he has worked on, I use them daily in the studio… never an issue. He has made unplayable guitars in to real players.He fixed cracked fingertips before gigs for me. Stopping by to see him is always a learning experience.I have been doing this for 25 years. I know a good luthier when I see one. Dave is a great luthier and your guitar/bass/Uke/ etc, etc. are in the hands of the best.

The most expensive and the very worst work Ive ever seen....horrible paint repair on Les Paul...electronics installed wrong and shorted out...do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY
