Los Angeles has been home to The BROAD for 5 years now. Anyone who has an appreciation for modern art or architecture should have visited twice already. Tho surprisingly many have not visited yet. Well besides its bold unapologetic art pieces. This museum also provokes thought and offer insight into topics both art and human related. Which helps us better understand the artists and their work and the times in which we live. A sophisticated yet very accessible atmosphere fostering an appreciation for art and for artist maybe even for your first time.
An architectural wonder packed with many incredible contemporary art collections. Love many of the art pieces by Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Roy Lichtenstein and Kara Walker👏👍🖼🎨Love Kara Walker’s decoupages, depictions of the plantation life in the Old South… sad topic but exquisite work!Given that a Jean-Michel Basquiat “Skull” painting recently sold at auction for $110+ Million! I feel blessed and privileged to be in a room with so many of Basquiat’s paintings, sincerely appreciate Eli Broad’s generosity and his foundation’s amazing collections🙏👏
The broad is a free to enter and an amazing gallery in the heart of DTLA . If someone is new here or visiting and appreciates art, this place will excite you . They have some amazing artwork from artists around the world and a small gift shop at the exit. The main attractions are large tulips and the extra large and big dining table., Its a very modern space, every inch of it feels like an art. Attaching some of the shots i took
Broad museum had to be one of my favorite museums in LA. I went here with my dad and a neighbor from Palm Springs and we had a wonderful time. My dad is 83 and has hard time walking long distance so after some looking my dad went to sit down and when he sat down one of the people on the first floor named Lester was keeping my dad occupied which I thought was just over the top and I appreciate. Also in the gift shop they have a huge variety of great things to buy. Eric in the gift shop was super helpful and I beyond appreciate his work. Overall the broad museum is a must see in LA
Stunning architecture of the Disneys concert hall in LA. Beautiful metal facades in disorderly shapes and position make this building an unique worth visiting place.
Loved that this place is free, enjoyed the artwork that was displayed, most likely will go back to see the mirrored rooms as that was closed on our visit. Afterwards we walked to the Perch for brunch. Fantastic day all around!
The Broad is a place to get lost in creativity, be inspired and delight in visual eye candy. Our favorite exhibitions included the works of Jeff Koons and Yayoi Kusama’s Infinity Mirrors. There’s so much to see and explore at The Broad. For more about our visit, check out my website Joy Et Joie.
Really impressive museum, with legendary artist. Especially for pop art lovers!A must spot when visiting LAMake sure to buy souvenir at there store since the museum is free.#freeartisimportant
Some galleries should be R rated, I took my kid quickly out if there,, otherwise incredible experience
A fantastic experience, and its free! Perfect spot for a date with lots of other fun places really close by for a whole day of fun. I recommend also checking out the mochi donut place close by, as well as The Last Bookstore and Little Tokyo--all within walking distance!!
The Broad museum is a must see if you’re in Los Angeles. General admission is always free, reservations are required.Eli and Edythe Broad’s Postwar and contemporary art collection, is extensive and displayed beautifully in large white rooms with the light coming through the holes of the outside wall.We started on the 3rd floor, the 2nd floor is where you’ll see part of the vault that stores the collection. On the 1st floor you’ll find more art and the gift shop. The whole thing takes about an hour to an hour and a half.We parked about a block away, metered parking $6 for two hours.
Really nice! Parking under the museum, it was $17 for the day (Saturday ( they dont validate on weekends. Tickets were free, the works of art there are amazing but it doesnt take more than an hour or two tops! Lemonade is right across the street at moca if you want to get something to eat afterwards!
Very nice, unfortunately the starry exhibit thing wasn’t open during my visit. For sure worth a visit, but depending on how much you appreciate art you may not spend a ton of time there. We spent about 1.5 hrs and saw everything.
Had a great time but its too bad the Infinity Mirror Exhibit was closed.
You need a reservation to park in the garage can’t get in without one. You take your ticket with you to scan it and get the discounted rate $17 an hour. Definitely need a mask. Hope this helps! Here are a few pictures from inside.
The collection housed here is great. The Koons & Warhol pieces were especially fun. Great vibe & flow, thanks to the awesome architectural design of the museum.
Artistic. Beautiful. Breathtaking. The Broad isnt just a museum but an experience. Also, the staff is very knowledgeable about every exhibit.
Breathtaking architecture and art pieces. This is the perfect spot for you to immerse in an artistic environment!
This is a beautiful museum Im really glad I stopped by.
Big museum. Recommend people who love art. Its free but remember to go online to book a ticket.
Such a great gallery, and its one that i think many galleries should strive to emulate! a great range of contemporary art, and i was stoked to see great artists who i studied in school--like basquiat, roy lichtenstein and barbara kruger--at the broad.its a large gallery thats really beautiful, well thought out and extremely clean. staff were exceptional and friendly, and its incredible that its entirely free admission. you currently have to book tickets, but it was such a seamless experience entering the gallery.i cant wait to return!!
A great example of modern contemporary art. Great architecture. Small but impactful. Some display choices could be merited however overall solid. Free admission for great pieces of art. Would definitely come back with my kids
Love this museum❤️ parking 17$ for 1,5 hour..
Parking was easy and located underground, but keep in mind, even with partial validation from the museum rates will still be high since it is downtown L.A. Entering was fast and easy with our reservations, and they no longer hand out maps of the museum, so you can just go directly to the museum website for a map or scan the code to get the link to the website and audio features. We last visited before 2020, and today we enjoyed the art installations and exhibits we saw. The shop has a wide variety of items that feature many of the different artists on display. I enjoyed the shop much more on this visit because of the wide selection and prices. I would recommend this museum for high school aged students, but there are adult themes and sexual content/gestures in some exhibits, so please keep that in mind.
Nice place… free, but the parking lot next to me museum is really expensive. This time is so frustrating to take good pictures without mask 😷!
Fun, but a bit boring for small children. Great for a quiet outing.
I wished I lived in LA to visit this museum all the time. Cant say enough about it! Every modern well know artist is represented here.
If you like contemporary art, this is a good place to visit. MOCA is also across the street.
This place is beautiful and all free. Great view of downtown LA
Really cool modern art museum to visit if you are in LA. One of the better ones in the United States for sure. Admission was free when I went and parking on the weekends under the broad museum was a $17 flat rate. There is some street parking if you get lucky. This museum is really two floors with exhibits on the 1st and 3rd floor and the 2nd floor being used for other spaces.
Such an amazing place to visit, Really enjoyed my day here.😍😍✌
Loved the amazing collections and the interesting architecture, views while on the escalator and elevator!
Awesome art exhibit that shows an artist work from the beginning. Some questionable pieces, but thats why that call it art
Beautiful museum of contemporary art founded by Eli Broad and has an extensive collection of Jeff Koons
It was amazing i loved loved it there so much cool art done by amazing people these are some of my favorite pecies
WOW! When The Broad first opened, it was impossible to get tickets. we tried and tried and it just didnt work out... so after a while... we just forgot about it. Years went by... then the other day when our family was trying to think about what to do the next day, we thought... HEY! I wonder if we could get tickets to The Broad tomorrow... and guess what? They were booked. JUST KIDDING!!! We got tickets!!!!You need to reserve tickets online, but to get in is FREE!!! Well sort of... expect to pay $27/car for parking. But the sting of a $27 parking bill is soothed when you think of that youre downtown... everywhere is going to be like that, mixed with... heck - you got into the museum for free!!! And believe me, it makes the trip that much more convenient.Just as the outside of the building is cool... so is the inside! The lobby is like a cave area. The artworks are amazing as well! Ive never seen a Warhol in person before and they have TONS of them!!!Ill be honest in saying, my experience would have been even better without the kids... but even with the kids it was cool. Be sure to ask to do the kids scavenger hunt as it is REALLY well done. Its not specific questions like... find this painting... it make you think - Find a piece of art that makes you sad... happy... that makes you laugh... that youd give a friend etc... The guy at the end forgot to give us part of the prize (he gave us the directions and left out the box with the art kit inside... whoops...), but he was super nice and helped us with directions around town.If youre with your family, I recommending seeing the museum (which wont take you forever with kids, depending on how interested they are), then go out of the museum, bang a right and then a left where Angels Flight is and take that down ($1 a ride I think) and it spits you out RIGHT at Grand Central Market for lunch! Take it back up again to your car and its a perfect DTLA day!!!
Coming from someone who isnt always tempted by modern art, I loved the collection! So many thought- provoking pieces in one place, and so pleasing to look at, and really altering your perception. Going through the exhibits was truly an experience in and of itself. And the option to go through a self- guided tour is always fun. I highly recommend this museum!
Interesting artwork. Nice to visit if you have extra time in LA.
The service was great!! The palace was well organized and very clean. I just wasnt a big fan of all of the art pieces, but then again I probably should have checked before going. Overall it was a nice experience!
Free tickets to an Art Museum can never be a bad experience! Lots of cool art. There is a current exhibit, however, which can be a bit disturbing. Parking is $17 with validation, which you can get at this gift shop.
A stunning collection of contemporary art, with several pieces by the very best.
This museum has decided to show extended collections at this time. That means full collections of certain artists are available to see. I loved the Andy Warhol and the distinct difference of his pieces.
I went here in 2019.This is a nice museum to learn about contemporary art in Los Angeles. You will have to book tickets online to avoid the wait. Free admission. There are basements parking although it can be expansive.I’m from OC so I took the train to Union Station and walked here, or you can go by bus. The fare is $10 for round trip tickets from OC, LA bus fare already included. Very good deal and you don’t have to worry about parking in downtown LA.It took 2 hours for me to finish the whole museum. Fun for hangout, date, solo or anything you like. Arts are unique and colorful. A lot of people go here to take Instagram pictures since it’s very Instagram-worthy.Overall, good experience, will comeback every now and then.
Beautiful museum with amazing architecture and artwork collections.
Parking is pricey, even with validationGallery is clean and open spacing. Not very toddler friendly.
One of LAs top museums to come and visit. Always wanted to view the infinity room but never got the chance. Good thing at the time that I came, they had a smaller version of it in this glass cube where you can put your head in. It was super cool! All the other art was also amazing, so many unique pieces that make this museum top notch.
What an amazing place that is available to the city for free. Helpful staff and breathtaking pieces. Loved it
World class modern art
Beautiful. World class art. Docents are nicer than most. And freeeeeeee
Such a cool building and good exhibitions, can’t believe it’s free
Must love art. You need a reservation but some days you can do that on the spot using your phone
There is no entrance fee and very easy to get in there, beautiful art
A beautiful space. I hope they bring back the Infinity Room soon.
On Saturday (our next to last day in Los Angeles), my friends and I ventured to the Broad in downtown Los Angeles. This museum was an incredible building, just to start. The architecture was really interesting and very much the sort of thing that I enjoy (and hope to have in my own home, someday. The art within the museum was remarkable, as well. What stood out most to me were the exhibits about injustice and inequality. These were remarkable, visionary, sometimes painful pieces that could jerk tears from my eyes. I found the exhibit to be deeply moving and powerful. I’m immensely grateful to the artists for their work and to the museum for displaying the pieces proudly. I hope that we continue to see works like this be created and have lights shone upon them.On a lighter note, I was a bit disappointed that the mirror exhibit I had hoped to see was closed, as this was something I was looking forward to, but this is such a minor, meaningless complaint that it isn’t going to affect my overall rating for the museum itself.
Great museum, great collection of art pieces and highly recommend.
Oh what an amazing museum and they have very interesting contemporary arts which you will surely enjoy.
It is a beautiful museum and there are many interesting installations and pieces that you can go see.
The place is such a treat already then you have such helpful, knowledgeable and accommodating museum staff.
This is a great place to learn about contemporary art. It takes about an hour to get through the third floor, where the exhibits are.
Nice art. But who decides what art really is? Or what art is valuable? Why do we view art? Is it to feel something? To criticize? To see our own cultural - or another’s - reflected in a way we do not get in daily life? To prove to our friends we are sophisticated and cool? Whose art gets displayed? What do those choices say about our culture? Perhaps more than the art itself…As you can see, my visit to the Broad prompted many fascinating questions, even if the collection itself was a bit small. It’s worth a visit.
(*) Well knowledgeable Staff(*) Clean and have closed parking area(*) Reserve online to reduce wait time(*) Reserve for the light show as soon as you enter itOverall all a very good place for 5 years and above.
Fascinating arts displayed very clean and maintained
Im a caregiver to an elderly gentleman that normally stays home all day or goes to dialysis 3 times a week. We visited Tge Broad Museum and we both thoroughly enjoyed the building that houses the museum and all the art collections within. He was amazed with the collection of contemporary art...he had a different idea of what type of art that was. He enjoyed the variety of art pieces and how they were displayed. A variety of staff members also surprised us by giving a little background on various art pieces...and that added to our enjoyment of tge museum. And its FREE....UNBELIEVABLE. Im so proud of Los Angeles to offer this high quality of entertainment as compared to sites like Hollywood Blvd or tours of Hollywood Star homes.
Enjoyed the modern art collection, but the building itself is my favorite, though I am biased because architecture is my thing.
I found the lay out to be boring and the exhibits to be something Ive already seen. But it was free. No snack bar either.
Great museum amazing art . The staff is really nice and helpful ..ITS FREE! And really fun ..
So beautiful. Such helpful employees. Id put this museum as a cant miss for Los Angeles. If anything, Id possibly say Ive seen much, much better gift shops. Well run, knowledgeable staff, convenient place to sit while others shopped. Id just choose more interesting product.
Beautiful museum with lots to see
I spent hours enjoying the many different works of art and exhibits. I highly recommend it. I plan on visiting again and again. They have quite the collection.
It was my first time there. I went during extended hours (last Friday of every month during summer). I loved the architecture, and the spacious galleries. There is a free architecture and artworks audio tour one may access via ones phone, so you should bring headphones along. Because of covid some artworks were restricted to the public. It was overall a nice experience, tickets are free, yet you should book in advance as they are normally sold out.
These museum is super cool! Just make sure to make reservations before hand.
Awsome💯
Whats not to love!? This museum is smaller than others Ive been to, however, the reservation system does help keep the space from being overly busy. Every person I interacted with was pleasant and informative! Bring your headphones for the audio tour!
Great exposition. Its not huge but its really impressive. Koons, Warhol, Lichtenstein and other remarkable artists. Surely worth visiting.
Fabulous modern art museum - the art as well as the venue.
This is one of the must visit places when im in LA
Great collection of big names modern pop art. Surprisingly deep collection of works by folks like Warhol and Lichtenstein. Beautiful building too!
This art museum as great lots of art by many different artists. I would not recommend bringing young kids to the museum because there are no hands on experiences at the museum. The museum had some pornographic paintings too. The museum had an amazing gift shop too. Would recommend coming🎨👀
Everything was great except the employees. Towards the end it was the last 10 minutes and literally going through the very last part of it and we got told by 5 different employees every minute that passed by. We actually finished everything in 5 minutes and even got kicked out 5 before closing. Had the best time and enjoyed the art but employees working in the first floor definitely made me feel disrespected.I understand that there are disrespectful people that come and want to stay longer but that wasn’t our case and we were treated as if we wereAnyone trying to come I recommend showing up at 2 the latest that way you have enough time and don’t feel like you’re being pushed out by rude employees
I really liked their motto free art for everyone. General admission is free. Waited for about 5 min. The collection was great. Mostly modern artists works. We took about 2 hrs to look around. You can take longer. The building was also a piece of art.Special exhibition requires admission fee. Some you have to sign up before.Loved it. Great place to appreciate art in LA.
Angeles flight is small train climbs up or down for 2mins in downtown journey charges $1 one way...good for experience
Amazing museum and free
A great example of modern contemporary art. Great architecture. Small but impactful. Some display choices could be merited however overall solid. Free admission for great pieces of art. Thats pretty good in my book. Just make sure to book tickets in advance.
Nice museum, and it’s free! The exhibitions are mostly modern art pieces, not many super famous pieces but still worth the visit, takes about an hour to go around.
I enjoyed learning about different artists
Small collection. The staff were overly cautious.
Very pretty and beautiful artistic museum.
It was a great experience. Exhibits were amazing, masks were enforced and there was a lot of security around the exhibits as well. It is free, so thats pretty cool! Parking is $17.
Lovely modern artGreat for families, date, solo visit
Excellent as always. Parking is now at the museum, good value with validation. With the reduced occupancy due to COVID-19 the museum is more enjoyable than ever. DTLA was very lightly populated with most big offices still empty. Grand Central Market was fully open and was easy to navigate. Go downtown!! They need your business!
Nice experience, beautiful place. Should go.
Such a beautiful, well-maintained museum with friendly staff. Please make reservations before you go!
