Amazing prices! Just got my crown moulding for a steal. An entire 16’ board for the price of just one linear foot at Home Depot or Lowe’s. The staff were all super friendly and helpful. This place is huge and well-stocked with new building materials of every kind. Definitely coming back!

Builders supplies its a good spot, you know I think that the prices are a bit pricey now then they used to be but you know they are getting more new stuff versus used so I guess if you want high end stuff you going to have to pay the high end price!

(Updated) Friendly, helpful wonderful staff. I was unhappy because the tiles I got had stains. It turns out these were on sale because they were overstock/odd lots, so I should have expected some defects. Because I was not informed, they are willing to make it right for me. I really appreciate a fair deal from a company. Hopefully it will be clear to others that the really good prices might come with drawbacks, so if youre okay with that, you can end up with some good deals.

I recently discovered this store. I went in looking for a door. Didnt find what I wanted on hand, but the man in that department was so great. He offered to check if they had all the right materials on hand to build the door i wanted. They didnt, but I really appreciated that he made the effort to help me out instead of blowing me off. I left with some good information/booklet to help me design and order what I want. I cant remember his name, but he was awesome. The options in the store for the various home improvement things they have is awesome. Ill definitely go back for future needs.

BEWARE!! They will sell you used items with missing parts and when you return in less than 24 hours will refuse to refund you and will tell you the item has been red dot clearanced...even though there is stock on the shelf and no red dot nor clearance signs. Everyone we encountered until the return was very nice and helpful until the manager Andrea came to the register for the return. She was rude and completely unsympathetic. We live 45 minutes away from this Louisville store and had already been there twice yesterday because the sink they sold us was broken. We returned again in less than 24 hours later to get a refund on a bathroom faucet that was missing parts when we opened it. It had clearly been used by someone else as there was Teflon tape and scratches on it also.She acknowledged the entire situation and said if you would like to talk to her manager we could drive back on Tuesday.We had planned on shopping here often and making this our go to place...however knowing they care nothing about their customers and a okay with completely screwing them over we will not be back.

I highly recommend Builders Surplus if you are remodeling your kitchen. A big shout out to the kitchen designer, Jasmin Moore, I knew how I wanted to do my kitchen, but was not for sure if I could. Jasmin came to my house, measured and listened to what I wanted and she made it happen. She would call me to make sure everything was going on schedule and to make sure I was happy with what was going on.Thank you, I could not have done this without your expertise!!The gentelman that came to take ou the old cabinets and put in the new ones were fantastic. They even did a little extra to make around the kitchen sink look much better. They did not have to, but they did. They did a beautiful job. Thank you. The guys that came in with the counter tops were fast and efficient. Everybody that I had to deal with was polite and answered all my question to make sure I was satisfied with the work they did.

Never got an email back with an estimate after I spent all that time measuring. I was told to email measurements and I would get an appointment. Never heard back.

Purchased Cortex LVP in July for our kitchen. We special order the floor & it was ready in 2 weeks for pick up. Installation took us a weekend. It was easy to cut & trim. With the right tools it was a piece of cake. Simply love our new floor. Very happy with the Builders Surplus and the look of wood floor

Lots of parking although tough for me to find main entrance from where I parked. Parking lot needs repair and some signage. Generally accessible by wheelchair. Clean restroom.

I have made a number of purchases from Builders Surplus and have found them to be significantly cheaper on windows, flooring, doors, and molding. This place is bare-bones and no frills. Some things are way cheaper than big-box stores and some things are not. Although they have an on-site design center for custom cabinets, I did not use them. For me, it takes about an hour one way to get there, but the money I saved was worth the drive. We just renovated our home with 5-inch wide oak floors and saved about $2,000. Also bought our front door from there - very well made and saved about $300 as well. I will be renovating the detached garage to turn it into my workshop. Ill be going back to buy windows and tile. Overall, I have been very pleased with the quality of materials and help from the sales staff. Been there multiple times and the staff has always been very friendly and eager to assist. This is worth at least a visit.

Updated from two to four stars. While they have good prices and a nice selection, three weeks ago when I bought a door, they made a mistake on the receipt and I was charged a returned check fee. They added a zero making a $300 purchase into a $3,000 purchase. When we saw the fee and called the bank, they told us the problem. I called the store and the manager said to tell the bank to send it back and they would take care of it-which was wrong and resulted in another returned check fee. Now, after numerous calls and being told the owner would be there later or the next day to talk about reimbursement, I was just told again that they would talk to the owner when he comes in on Monday. This seems like a simple fix-send us the money caused by your mistake-twice. My husband is ready to take the door back and wait there until they give us the returned check fees. Update part. After this, the check cashing place cleaned out our bank account when they tried to take the check out for the third time. Chris, the manager, had been gone on leave after the first time I talked to him about the problem. When I called and talked to him, he gave us the door for free and worked it out to put the money back. He also offered a 10% discount on flooring if we decided to buy from them.

We had a great experience with Builders Surplus during our recent kitchen remodel. Sherry was our designer and she was fantastic. She designed what we asked for and only had to make minor tweaks. She offered upgrades, but didnt pressure us to purchase them. She was always supportive of our decisions. We installed the cabinets with our own installer and when there was an issue, she would talk us through it - always happy to help and we never felt like we were bothering her. Service after the sale with Builders Surplus and Sherry were more than we expected. We highly recommend them for any project. Their products come in different levels of quality, and we found the prices to be reasonable and much better than the big box and custom stores. Overall, we had a great experience and will definitely be a repeat customer when we build our next home.

After visiting a couple local big box stores we settled on Builders Surplus for our kitchen cabinet purchase and install. This is our first kitchen remodel, so weve had to learn as we go. Its stressful because there is a lot of money involved, and decisions on cabinet style and color are not easily changed if you decide you dont like something after the fact.So far were really happy with the process and the results. We met multiple times in person and online with Dewey, and he helped us come up with a functional layout for a kitchen space that had some unique challenges. Hes very good with the software used in that process, and we were supplied great, 3D visualizations of what the finished space would look like. We tweaked a few things along the way and he was always very accommodating. Store manager Chris was also helpful in resolving a billing issue that arose because of a charge error.Cabinet delivery was painless, and the delivery company was willing and able to hold our cabinets over during the Christmas holidays so we didnt have to take delivery until after New Years. Everything was delivered and nothing was damaged.Cabinet install was just completed this week. I cannot say enough good things about the cabinet install crew. Seriously, they were great. It was a crew of 4 or 5 young guys. They arrived on time, laid down floor protection throughout the work area, had every imaginable cool tool for the job (laser levels, table saws, oscillating tools, etc.), worked hard over two days to complete the install, and left the place spotless. I was really impressed with their professionalism, and the result looks beautiful. I am only sorry I didnt get any of their names (besides Jake who did the original measurements, and Ben who I dealt with on the phone a couple of times), because I would like to give them credit by name. The one guy who seemed to be the lead took lots of time with me to explain how to do the hardware install, because I didnt have it purchased in time for them to do it. He didnt have to do that, but much appreciated.So, so far so good. We went with another supplier for our granite countertops, but I would say our experience with Builders Surplus has been very positive and we will use them again for future renovations.

Its been 2 years now since we used Builders Surplus for our kitchen renovation. Were from Lexington, but the quotes we got from Lexington based companies were simply way too high and outside of our budget. As a last-ditch effort, I made an appointment with Builders Surplus in Louisville for their free design service. Not expecting much, we went out there and met with Tad. We were blown away! Not only did he help us design the kitchen we wanted and give us a free print out, but the quote through Builders Surplus was affordable and within our budget! We got cabinets with soft-close action AND prefabricated granite countertops with them. We would have liked to also use them for flooring, but their floor guy wasnt good with driving all the way to Lexington. Cabinets were delivered in a timely manner and the one defect we found (1 piece stained dark brown vs painted white) was remedied very quickly. Tad made himself available during the process- we even got him on the phone as we were expanding a doorway and he spoke with the contractor doing it to make sure we left the proper wall space for our cabinets. The cabinet installation guy was awesome- prompt, clean cut, and polite...he even pointed out where he had barely scuffed our floors and offered to get it fixed. Countertop installation also went smoothly. 2 years later and we still love our kitchen. Highly recommend!

We were redoing our bathrooms and looked at all the big box stores for tile options but couldnt find any that we liked. We went to builders surplus and found the tile and a price we liked. The bathrooms turned out great, I would recommend them to anyone.

VERY dishonest company, quoted countertops for me, I paid for countertops in full (more than what was quoted because they tell me they over estimate and then refund you the difference). After paying, and measuring I was told I was getting a $1700 refund, by the afternoon that number had flipped and suddenly I owed them $1700, saying they were unaware my island size had increased. I have multiple emails from the company showing the original quote and that they did get the size upgrade and quoted more money. They refused to make the situation right and when it all came out they were charging me a 28% mark up, not a deal at all.Since the owners feel this is clearly the mistake of another company please check out the math that was sent to me from Builders Surplus:53 square feet for the kitchen....................53 x $107.00 = $5,871.0011 square feet for Luxury on the hearth.....11 x $131.00 = $1,441.001 cut and polish............................................................... .= $425.002nd cut and polish............................................................ = $425.00Total = $7,962.00Please look at line 1 53x $107=5671, not 5871Line 2 our hearth was rounded from 10.25 ( the laser measurements that Cambria did) to 11 costing us an additional $100. When these are errors were shown to Builders Surplus, they had ZERO response. Yet they continue to blame the other cabinet company, when they can’t do very simple math.In the end we got the exact same Cambria Counters that we wanted for a much cheaper price at Corvins in Elizabethtown. I would highly recommend them. Very professional, quick and we LOVE our counters. I have all the text and emails with these numbers and pricing that we were sent, that have the companies name on it to show I didn’t make any of this up.

I live in Louisville. I was looking for salvage windows/ Louisville only had 1 window that would work so I called the Newport store. I spoke with Marvin who went through their inventory to make sure the trip would be worth my time before the long drive. Once I arrived in Newport Marvin went above AND beyond to assist. He helped us go over our entire blueprint, looked through every possible window that might work, climbed a ladder and pulled 8 windows down to so I could look them over. I ended up purchasing 6 windows. The time and effort was absolutely worth going to Newport. Marvin was amazing and the entire staff was extremely attentive and helpful.

We had attended Kitchen and Bath University a few months ago, finally got around to meeting with a design consultant to discuss ideas for a bath remodel. The custom-made door looks fantastic!The installer could not install the electronic deadbolt lock and left with the installation of the lock half finished. Cost additional $80 for locksmith to complete installation of the deadbolt. The locksmith indicated that it was not an inexpensive lock--next to top of the line. Reported lock installation problem to Bob French.

I am extremely unhappy. We purchased a bathroom vanity and counter top. After the cabinet and top was installed, we realized the back splash did not completly match. Apparently we were given the wrong top, the one intended for us was still there with our name on it. Naturally, the onus is entirely on the customer, the store assumes zero responsibility for having given us the wrong counter top. I really miss the days as a consumer you could count on stores to do their job adequately. Since apparently this top has been discontinued we are stuck with a ill matching vanity that ruins our remodel. So beware if you purchase, the responsibility is entirely on you to make sure they get it right!

My wife and I had made up our mind on one of two floors at a competitor but needed up buying from Builders Surplus. Bill made it an easy decision. In fact Bill came in on Sunday, his day off, to meet us and go over the numbers to make sure that we purchased enough to get our project completed. Update: At the insistence of my wife, they were having a sale of 50% off bathroom vanities. It is all over their website. We get there and nobody has any idea what we are talking about. Then an associate goes and asks someone and comes back to tell us its not a sale, but a comparison of other big box stores. We had just left a big box stores were they had a bigger selection for way better prices. My wife has finally given up on this place. Dont bother with this place. Save your time and money almost anywhere else.My wife and I saw a front entry door we liked a lot on their website. While in the store, we looked around and the staff was friendly. Prices are nothing to brag about. We were willing to spend a little more on the entry door because of the look and style. Thats where the biggest issue comes in. We paid $426 for a special order, standard size door. They call back a few minutes to close to tell me the door was discontinued but we could pay $50 more for a door neither of us liked as much. After realizing the sales guy wouldnt help I asked to speak with a manager. She said the same thing. Had them refund me my money back. The good news in all of this is that Home Depot and Lowes have a very similar looking door, same material and energy efficiency rating, for about $250.

Received a call 2 days later saying the owner didnt come in the day before to sign checks & they would be putting it in the mail. I decided to come pick it up instead. Not the way you do business.

We are able to track down the door we wanted and stay within budget! The salesman was very knowledgeable and friendly. I would recommend this company to anyone with a DIY need.

I dont get the hype. I walked in on a calm Sunday and was ignored by every staff member in the store. Upon approaching several, I was promptly blown off. I know I look young, but it seems wrong to seek out older customers instead of working with the one asking for help. Needed a complete remodeling of a bathroom and flooring for a basement.I had allotted $7,000 for the floor and bathroom. I guess my money will go elsewhere.

Ordered a custom entry door and overstock patio door. Both were great quality and better prices than competition. Staff was knowledgeable and helpful by giving updates on order status periodically.

I have remodeled two kitchens with the Poplar Level Rd location. The staff has always been helpful. Today I purchased several hundred dollars of tile with help from Gerran.

Nice place. A list of contractors and remodelers would be nice readily accessible.
