Genuinely wonderful customer service!Super customer focused young lady & helpful professional younger guy.Very clean well put together store! :)
I went in for my session, I told them what he said he wanted and they were quick, friendly and helpful. They didnt even mind that at one point I was pretty sure they were speaking a different language.
My favorite local shop for Gunpla, but that is a small percentage of what they have to offer. Always a great selection of what ever suites your fancy. Friendly staff!
First time coming back in years and I can happily say I was satisfied they gave me excellent customer service, grand selection of cards, comics, peices for games, all for great prices. This place does not disappoint 10/10 would recommend to every/anyone!!!!!!!!
Love the people, love the products. The energy here is ama, amazing,. Everytime I come here I leave with a smile.
We are new to town and this was only our 2nd visit but its definitely our new comic book store. Recieved excellent service and good vibes on both visits. Great place for all of your comic book/card game/ D&D/memorabilia and etc needs with a rewards program to boot! We like this place. You will too!
Dope asl cool place for anything related to anime card games etc
Been shopping my comics here and various gaming supplies since the early 90s. Will continue to do so until I die or they close shop. Best Comics and Game site Ive ever found.
A much better place than Top Cut Anime and Games (I think it is now called Archrivals). I appreciate that this place appreciates my business (I had a really bad experience with Top Cut Anime and Games). This place is awesome and I will definitely be returning soon.
Always something new. Always love to go in!
I canceled my subscription box after 3 weeks. It seems like fine place to go for games and trading cards, but I cannot recommend it as a comic shop. A little bit of behind the scenes customer service and some common sense could turn this place right around, but theyre either unwilling or unable to help. The lions share of responsibility rests on the customers shoulders, turning a hobby into a chore.Their subscription policies are needlessly draconian and just make it harder for a customer to shop and spend money on comics, and they dont inform you of many of these things up front:1. If the shop doesnt receive enough copies of a standard cover to fill customers subscription boxes, rather than fill those gaps with variant covers (just the basic ones, not the super valuable one-per retailer exclusives), they will leave that title out of your box and wait for a later fulfillment order or second printing--and put the variant covers on the shelf where they may sell out before subscribers can get to them.2. If you subscribe to a monthly ongoing title, you need to subscribe to the annual issues separately. Likewise, if--for example--the ongoing Thor series changes its title from The Mighty Thor to plain old Thor, or Immortal Thor (this kind of thing happens a lot in comics) you need add that as a separate subscription.3. A request for all X-Men titles or all tie-ins for such-and-such an event turns into a ridiculously pedantic thought experiment like, Well, X-Force doesnt have the word Men in the title and Wolverine doesnt have an X in the title at all! or, You said you wanted all of the Cosmic Craziness tie-ins, but this one features She-Hulk on the cover! What if you hate She-Hulk?!I finally gave up today during their Black Friday sale, which affects things like board games, Magic cards, and back issues of comics--not new monthly comics. Top Cut offers punch cards: 1 punch per every $10 spent, 10 punches gets you $10 in store credit. Cool! However, because of the current sale, there is a blanket ban on card punches for the duration of the sale. I was given the option buying this weeks comics today and forgoing my punch card benefits, or leaving my comics there and coming back to purchase them on Saturday, at which point card punches will once again exist. Im not trying to game the system or take advantage of the store. I completely understand why Black Friday discount purchases wouldnt be valid for card punches. But why should the weekly comics shoppers be punished because of a promotion that doesnt affect them? I dont live super close to the shop and Id rather not have to drive out there twice over a matter of semantics.I decided to buy this weeks comics today and then cancel my subscription box. Most comic shops want to incentivize repeat shoppers, not make them jump through weird hoops. I spend $30-$50 a week on comics, so little things punch cards and discounts help me out and keep me coming back. But this feels less like a comic shop, and more like reading the fine print for a mail in rebate from Best Buy, trying to make sure that I dont shoot myself in the foot because I sent it in on 5x9 paper instead of 8x11 of or some other technicality.
Tons of comics, graphic novels, games, and all kinds of merch! Its always fun visiting this place and impulse buying whatever catches my eye.
Great staff except the manager or owner. Whatever he is, is just rude to all with sly remarks and acts like any help asked is an inconvenience to him. Otherwise the employees rock, the selection for the type of store is great, the prices on many things are inflated by a lot but for some its overpriced, but still a good deal compared to how much it is for sale elsewhere and theres little chance at all finding it in another store for retail price so usually, their the only place with certain items in stock.
Iv been going to this place since back when it was still TIY. One of my favorite places in the world. Fair prices, great selection,( especially for Pokemon cards), always walk out of this place happy!
Huge store. Excellent selection. Very knowledgeable staff.
I was informed they wont buy comic books off the public, your loss i guess.
I absolutely love coming here to get my comic books they have a great selection and fantastic staff. You can find pretty much anything youre looking for and you cant they are very willing to help you get it ordered online. Its awesome to walk around and see all the great merchandise and awesome comics and the staff really seem to know what theyre talking about when it comes to comics and games. Its wonderful to see that there is also a place for people to go and play Magic, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh Etc.
Took my granddaughter here for some Pokemon cards and they loaded her up with some extras to go along with what I bought. She loved it!!
I drove out to there store after I was told I could pre-order the new flesh and blood set 1st edition monarch. When I got there they told me the price is 350 and they would have it at release with no pre-orders. So I wait and call back 2 weeks later and now the price is 500-700. If they would have just told me they didnt have pre-orders and the price at 350 is subject to change I could have secured a box for cheap. This is extremely frustrating and upsetting at the lack of transparency.
The guys were very helpful
Incredibly biased review. Been coming here since I was a kid. Shop local!
Amazing selection, great staff
Not bad. Somewhat busy when I went on a Sunday afternoon. I noticed that they had an area for card play I think. I didnt see any information up anywhere about events of any sort. The clerk who helped me was able to answer my questions on the sto k kept and where products were located quite efficiently however didnt know too much of the ongoings of Dungeons and dragons editions. No big deal. I spent much more than I intended too unfortunately. I wanted a green set of dice for my son. I walked out with 2 sets of dice and the Dungeons and dragons Stranger Things starter pack lol. I am happy with my items, however it seems a little pricey. I imagine I could get those things online except I didnt know that the Stranger Things starter pack even existed and it is nice to really know what you are getting. Lastly I will say that I would like to offered information on store/community events or possibly new releases on different titles.
Gaming shop that meets the need for every one. Yugioh, magic, pokemon even obsolete card games are all here. Table top games and figures
I sold Pokemon TCG bulk to Top Cut. They made the process extremely easy and were very prompt with payment. I would highly recommend selling bulk to them.
Been coming here every week for new comics. Everyone working there is very nice and the store offers a great reward system for shopping there.
Theyre absolutely amazing. The selection is fantastic and the staff is helpful and kind. Everyone should go.
The best place in the Rockford area to get board games, RPGs, miniatures, or comic books! They also have a wide selection of Magic the Gathering singles.
On the store for over a half hour with my kids not one employee so much as acknowledged we were there
Precise. Knowledge. Solid customer service.
Amazing experience as always! Staff is super friendly! Even that guy jeff!
All I can say is that they have so many awesome stuff that I did not want to leave and if I keep going its going to be bad for my bank account not because they are expensive but because they have so many things that I want to buy
Always has stock pokemon card headquarters and thats the bottom line
Amazing selection of ALL genres of comics! Huge Funko selection, amazing selection of collectable figurines. Enormous selection of boards games, card games, and basically ANYTHING YOU CAN IMAGINE!!! From a beginner to a well seasoned fan of comics YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!!
Great selection of fairly priced graded cards and sealed product. I’ve purchased from here many times and I am always pleased!
Love the remodel
Knowledgeable staff, great selection of graphic novels and comics. They offer consignment as well, and, they wont harass you while you browse.
Helpful and friendly staff
I recently started playing Magic with a friend and the folks there definitely know whats up and have been able to help me with any questions Ive had, even helped me get a good deck started
I went in yesterday to buy Pokémon cards for my little girl, it was her first set of cards. We bought the Academy Set so she could learn, a binder and some Eevee sleeves and Deck case and a few more things. Everyone that helped did amazing when helping her! Caleb and the owner were great help! Caleb told the owner what her favorite Pokémon was and he was so happy that they both loved Eevee he gave her a trainer box with some counters energy’s and some Pokémon to help get her started! They did great! Thanks guys!
Found some great minis for a dnd game we are running thanks..great atmosphere and good people to talk to and interact with
One of the only remaining comic book shops in the area and still a great one. Board games, collectible card games, figurines, and of course comics still dont describe all of the options here (no video games). They have a great gaming space, and an extremely friendly staff that is always helpful. If comics and gaming are your thing, you have to check the place out!
Friendly people.and has alot of nice things to get
As always, a superbly friendly place for shopping around. Unlike the South Alpine location, N 2nd St is more about card games and comics, primarily the trio of Magic/Yugi/Pokemon. Even with reduced hours and social distancing measures, the shop renovation looks spiffy as heck with lots of organization and display cleanliness; you enter the store and you can immediately see what you want to purchase and have lots of space to move and peruse.
Ive been shopping here, with no exaggeration, for at least 25 years. Subjectively, it makes me very sad to see what its become since then. Objectively, its just a very mediocre comic shop. Ill try to be objective in my review, as I realize many people havent shopped here before. One of the biggest problems with this location is staff. While theyre never outright hostile, theyre rarely ever friendly or give the impression that theyre happy to have you spending money or time in the shop. There are a few exceptions, like Manager Mike, but by and large most of the employees give off an attitude that youre annoying them by your questions or requests.Second problem is selection. They have a very large focus on cards, less so for comics/toys/collectibles, but even with cards their selection is...meh. They usually have the newest sets available and not much else. I can generally find a better card selection at any department store. The third problem is price/buying method. By no means are their prices unfair, but they arent exactly giving deals either. Again, you can find the same prices nearly anywhere else that carries cards or comics. By buying method, I mean the fact that they really, really want you to search through their card inventory through their online site. Specifically, if you go into the shop and ask to see the box of cards IN PLAIN SIGHT BEHIND THE COUNTER, they will tell you No, but heres a computer to search through our online inventory. So, I cant look through the cards that are 3 feet in front of my face, and have to scroll through your website to find said cards? You realize that sounds (and is) ridiculous right? I kind of get what they are trying to do, but for goodness sakes, dont have the cards out if you wont let people look through them! Put them in the back or something at least.I wish, I truly wish, that I could give them four, or even three stars. But with the poor employee-customer interactions, mediocre selection and prices, and occasionally ridiculous ways to search through and buy items, two is the best they can get.
Favorite place in the state line area to get comics/graphic novels and supplies for sport cards.
Great selection of comics and trading cards
Friendly knowledgeable staff fantastic store highly recommended
Its our card store away from home when visiting family. Their team is knowledgeable and helpful. They have a great selection at competitive prices.
Old School always be one of the best!
Really friendly staff and everything is organized really well!
Been coming here since I was a kid so 18 years. Mike has always been so helpful and recommends something exciting. My daughter now loves coming to do activities like card games like magic, hearthstone and loves the new games and comics they have to offer
Great selection. Super friendly and helpful service. They really help build community among the gamer geek culture.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Amazing store.
So many boardgames and all the accessories you could every ask for. Wish i had more time to shop around and see all that they have
This place is huge, not much of a comic fan but they have a large selection. They also have games, cards, strategy games, role playing games and some collectibles as well. They have a gaming area and the staff is courteous and the manager in particular is very enthusiastic and welcoming. I think they have decent prices, they do a 3/$10 deal on most booster packs when they are in print and have a generous rewards program.
Great service from knowledgeable people within the collectable industry!
Good selection of Pokemon products. Very up to date and older stuff. Decent comics and manga selection. Good card protection selection.
Watch out for this retailer online! They list at multiple price points and refund the lower values if they were to sell more than what is in their inventory. Im sure they have taken more nefarious actions with other clients, but this tactic isnt used by reputable online retailers so be careful and stay away from these guys. Very unprofessional staff and shady business practices are always a no for me. Wish I could leave 0/5 stars. Cheers all ~ be careful!
Good selection of the latest comics. Always willing to order something for you if they dont have it. Good perks for starting a subscription. Very friendly and helpful staff.
If you are into minis, comics, and a multitude of different games, this place is the perfect place to go. I just went with my boyfriend for some dice and I was wanting to buy the whole store. They were nice and were able to guide us to what we were looking for with little effort and were very knowledgeable about their stock and what they could or could not special order.
Great selection, good prices and knowledgeable people. Lots of promos and gaming to get involved in.
Very organized with plenty of room to move around. Open gaming/hangout area with drinks and snacks purchasable at the counter. Caters to special needs customers very well. Staff seem very knowledgeable about all things nerd culture. Reccomend for anyone who is looking for an easy atmosphere to practice and expand their own nerdification. ♥
Very helpful staff. Just getting into a new game, and they helped so much, gave me so many different options and resources. Good selection of goods, mostly tabletop games, comic books, and card games. Not really a huge selection of figurines. But had a huge selection of board games
First time I have been there. It is a gamers paradise. Will definitely be back when I have more time.
Love this shop. Im in here at least once a week. More if I can afford it. Great staff, very knowledgeable and welcoming. Awesome selection. Thanks for all the hard work you guys do.
Awesome service everyone is super friendly. Prices are great and the stock is always available
It has become my go to place for tabletop rpg gear and dice. They have a great games selection as well as comics. If you are looking for any of that stuff, come here.
It was neat.
Top Cut Comics is a wonderful gem of a store, with all kinds of interesting things for sale... comics, game books, Trading cards, specialty figures, game accessories, and they buy and sell individual or bulk cards for many popular games. Its a really fun atmosphere there, and the employees are always knowledgeable and helpful. They have a couple game rooms and host many weekly events, including Pokemon Tournaments and League on Saturdays.Ive been going there since 1999 when it was previously Tomorrow Is Yesterday, and in the past few years since its been under new ownership by Jimmy and Debbie Ballard, Ive seen the store grow and evolve into a family store that has so much to offer that it brings players and customers from miles and miles away! Be sure to check it out!
I went there with my son. He was looking for some game cards. A staff member helped him find exactly what he was wanting. The employees were friendly and conversational. The store was clean and well organized. They also offer gaming space for RPG games and a schedule so local gamers can get together and play.
I have been a loyal customer here for years. I utilize the subscriptions, special orders, and impulse purchases. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly and willing to answer questions. The stock is well organized and accessible. The owners genuinely care about their customers. Cards, comics, action figures, tees, toys, and posters, from DC to Deadpool to Disney, look here first.
They still buy pokemon cards after all these years!! Cash or credit.
The staff is great and very helpful!
A fun shop with nice staff. Great place to hang out or to pick up some gaming gear.
Love this place! The friendly, knowledgeable staff is always willing to help. They also host events like card tournaments on site. Top Cut is a local gem for all things nerdy (comics, cards, table top gaming, etc.). Definitely worth checking out 😁
There are so many comic books in there so many series I got some comic books and Im very happy with them.
Ive been shopping at Top Cut for over a decade. They constantly update their layout keeping it fresh and appealing. Their selection is impressive for both games and media, and their service impeccable.
Love that they are always looking for new ideas with how they move everything around. Variety of board games and card games and a variety of different comics. Like to order our weekly comics from this place and mike is very helpful. As well as the other staff of course! :-)
I cant describe enough how much I enjoy this place! Ive recently been visiting at least once a week to get my weekly supply of comics and trading cards to look through over the weekend. The staff that Ive met is very nice and knows what theyre doing. The store has a huge selection of booster packs, single cards, many comics, and tons of trading card supplies from all kinds of brands. I havent been to the other side of the building yet where people play card games, but it looks really fun.
Great selection of comics...and the staff is always super helpful :)
Been going here for years, my favorite comic store. The staff are super knowledgeable and friendly. Nice selection of comics, collectibles, t-shirts, etc. Love it!
Great shop for the collector in us all. If you love DC and/or Marvel, then this is a great place to shop. Many other items also.
Great staff and variety of gaming products and comics, as well as decent prices and a rewards program. Definitely recommend if youre in the area.
Formerly named Tomorrow is Yesterday, this shop has been the Rockford areas premier store for the aficionado of comic books and role playing games since the early 1980s. Their subscription service ensures that you will never miss an issue of your favorite comic book, whether it be Superman, My Little Pony, Dragonball, or whatever your tastes favor. They also carry a large selection of board games and card games, such as Pokemon and Cards Against Humanity.
The 2 guys that helped out were awesome! Definitely will be there again!
Great place to go, very friendly and helpful people. They have so much stuff its hard to see it all in one visit.
We visit this store frequently and love it. Good selection of comics and funko pops. With a ton of other neat stuff. Also has a gaming room for all those that like to play.
Definitely a place for nerds! Great staff and a huge selection of stuff :)
Took my kids for their first Free Comic Book and they loved picking their own comics. It was a great experience for our whole family.
Awesome store. Great selection, roomy aisles and neatly organized. We visited both Top Cuts that day in Rockford, THIS is the one to go to if you do things other than gaming.
Plenty of gaming stuff. Not tidy on the new issues comic book rack. Mixed titles and not alphabetized in the back issue boxes. Staff said hello while entering the store but did not ask if there was anything you needed or that they could help you with. Walked around the store for 15 minutes and was not even asked if I needed help.
Mike is absolutely awesome. Great sports card selection for the area!!
This place is awesome they are very reasonable on price and they are very nice I take the kids there and let them pick out pokemon cards when they are good.
Happy with my experience. Received a friendly greeting when entering. Found a lot of sought after comics good and old. 2 thumbs up
Best gaming shop in midwest, best customer service. Been going here for years
Amazing people, Amazing Comics, and the coolest dice in town!I came in for Star Trek anything and Jeff led me right to it.Love Top Cut and the Crew.
Nice large sized comic shop! I like buying my cards here. They have a pretty good variety everything here. They even sell collectables and figures here as well.
A fun place. Will definitely return with the family
