We liked the store itself. Found some nice, very reasonably priced, decorations. Nice staff too. We would come back. That said, the building and parking lot were a bit of a downer, most of the multi store building was abandoned. Just didnt feel great being there. There are nicer shopping areas right nearby, so its odd that this one is so rundown. I hope they are able to do something to improve it!

Good deals on close out goods. I buy weed in the parking lot mostly. Police stations close but they dont mind. I like the orange letters. And the bathrooms are whiteish.

My wife is very thrifty and she shops for qualityIm sure she got a great deal on a nice big kitchen table here.My part in this transaction was to drive my pickup over there and get it.Real smooth - they just brought it out and I tied it down.I like the new table.

No matter when I go there they always have a lot of new stuff to choose from its a very good place to go if youre looking to get a birthday present for someone you can find almost anything in there

Was here today to look at entertainment centers with fire places. Waited 15 minutes while trying to get help. 3 Employees walked passed us and never once asked if we needed help or anything. So I went and asked for help. The lady was very nice and asked for help for me. Waited about 10 more minutes with no help. I never had had any problems with this store. Its one of my favorites.

Was pretty much an in & out trip bc I knew exactly what I needed.Didnt know/wasnt aware that this particular store is currently being remodeled/renovated & that employees are resetting the entire store. That was bad enough but having worked in retail & customer service for over 12 years, I understand, especially corporate.While in line, waiting for an impossibly slow couple of individuals, I thought I overheard an employee saying there was no waiting at another checkout area, so, to confirm, I asked the employee if I heard her correctly & thats when the employee rudely snapped at me that she was supposedly talking to her supervisor over the phone intercom!Id just left a medical appointment literally a few minutes before quickly stopping by Big Lots before heading homeward.I regret either NOT seeing the rude woman employees name nor asking for her name as I think her name tag was flipped or twisted.After the afternoon Id earlier had, I was mildly tired & simply forgot to inquire.I think what irked me more than the slow individuals ahead of me was the employees attitude when I respectfully asked her if I heard her correctly that there was another line open with no waiting.This employee had ZERO legitimate need to unnecessarily verbally snap at me, a paying customer, the way that she did.Ive worked more than enough years in customer service to know thats NOT how employees are supposed to respond to customers.Furthermore, had *I* verbally snapped at a customer the way this employee did to me, I couldve expected a supervisor to order me into his/her office & both verbally read me the riot act as well as be reprimanded for being unnecessarily rude to customers!COVID protocols hysteria aside as well as Big Lots renovating this store, this woman employees unwarranted rudeness towards me are the reasons that my spouse, family & I will NOT be shopping at this particular Big Lots store unless were already on our ways home & cant find what we want elsewhere.I truly was NOT rude and/or disrespectful towards this particular employee & after my medical appointment, I was too tired, honestly, to push the issue.Im just kinda stymied that a Big Lots employee felt the need to verbally snap at me for asking if I overheard her say there was another open checkout area with no waiting.Ill keep my opinions & beliefs about that whole former Machesney Park Mall area out of this particular complaint.Unfortunately, it is exactly what it is.Thank you in advance, if any Big Lots upper management reads these reviews.

I have had fond memories of shopping at Big Lots over the years in many different communities. Part of it is the thrill of the hunt combined with the promise of below market pricing. This store was a little picked over, but thats to be expected in the lead-up to Christmas. Still some great deals here on stocking stuffers to foodstuffs to pillows and drapery rods.

I googled for a tv mount and found the best deal at Big Lots for an amazing price of $10.00. I stopped on my way home, I couldnt find it but a young man was able to help. Very nice & kind staff

I love this store. Almost every time I shop, an employee asks if I need help finding something. Great customer service!

It was ok. found a few unique things like gatlic stuffed olives. and an immersion blender with a whip attachment! was only 20$ which is less than or equal to wally world i believe yet with out the whip attachment there. also had a probiotic ginger lemon tea i am excited to try.

Nice and good variety of things from household to seasonal to toys to shampoo, etc. Give them a try, you wont be disappointed

Usually a line for the checkout. Fun shopping though. Merchandise changes frequently.. never know what youll find. Cute seasonal items.

Coupon wouldnt scan. Cashier refused to help me obtain the savings big lots emailed to me. Then just flat out ignored me so I would leave. Never had that happen there before. Asked for the manager and he made it right. I think he wanted to avoid the real reason why I was being treated that way. Its all good. Other stores out there. Very sad.

Easy in and out. Transitional stock because of changing seasonal merchandise. Everything I wanted was in stock. Associates very friendly and socially distanced check out flowed smoothly.

I havent been able to visit this store for several years since they closed another one that was closer to me at the time. Im happy to say I have moved now close to the one in Loves Park. And happy that they are still the same if not better. I can find just about anything I go there for and find things I love there. They have everything. Its also a well organized and clean store. Prices are also great!

Was looking for a TV stand and found several that were good. Some of the stands were very cheap looking, not for me. I did end up with a really good one!!

Like dollar general but better they also sell alot more stuff like furniture and stuff at affordable prices. This store seems just like any other store clean and organized. Would recommend if you need general stuff for your house lamps,nick nacks,light bulbs even some outdoor stuff like gazebos. Check em out

Great customer service. I like how the cashiers introduce themselves & ask how my trip was. Always clean & organized. Great place for gifts & seasonal decor. Ive never needed it myself but I see the staff helping load large items into customer vehicles all the time.

I love Big Lots! The prices cant be beat and their occasional 20% off everything means it is time to stock up! 10 pairs of socks for $5, laundry detergent, cereal, electronic accessories, even furniture is a great price. They have some name brand items, but what they have in stock is unpredictable.

Rude management. I had two separate purchases and the manager who was also cashier refused to scan my club card for the second transaction. She rudely said it wouldnt count and could only use once a day? Is my money only good once a day also? Guess Ill be shopping here less.
