Sad to learn their deli will no longer carry Boars Head No Salt Added Turkey. I am used to Whole Foods Deli being out of stock of many items when needed. But low or no sodium items being removed has made me reconsider where I should be spending my future grocery money. Way to ruin a good thing.
They have the best meat department and lots of vegan items also, and it always smells good in there my favorite grocery store in Madison
Pretty good Whole Foods. Produce is fresh and tasty. I wish they had more items in stock on a regular basis. The bread is awesome here! But it’s not always in stock until later in the day. I do think delivery from here can be nightmare though.
Love shopping here. Sometimes i just wish they would have a better selection and more variety of food.
This store desperately needs a expansion/remodel. The aisles are narrow its extremely high traffic and doesnt have all of the products that a larger whole foods would have.
Clean and well stocked. Nice staff who knows what theyre talking about! Much of the food offered is actually, really local as well as organic, whole food.
I loved being in whole foods. The only downside is everything is very expensive. I believe everything in there is organic and all the food looks ungodly delicious. Im very excited to try their cookies and I love that I get 10% off with amazon prime.
This place used to better. Now everything is always out of stock.
Smaller store, but still a great selection. Staff was wonderful. They helped us out finding several items.
Not dipsy like I thought it would be at all. Fairly practical groceries at mostly reasonable prices, even though substantial aisles of stuff like probiotics. But the workers were outstandingly helpful and attentive. One went out of his way to suggest a sausage for paëlla and another looked hard for the right kind of rice and beans (which they didn’t really have). Quite a fine experience.
Smaller than most Whole Foods Ive visited, but still offered a variety of produce and products. Still my go to spot for a quick stop for snacks, to go meals and grocery. Very convenient location.
Great qualify. Very good (tho not super huge) selection, very nice staffAmazing on-line (via amazon) order & delivery! Yet another place in the 4.5 category as their price/quality is fine, the name Whole Wallet (based on delicious selections + price) is justified, tho NOT disappointing!
Love this place! Its all good for you and safe. So eat their food instead of the fast food options. Youll live longer
First time there since Amazon bought it....still a good place to shop though it seems more corporate and less like a food coop.
Lots of vegan options at the hot and cold bar. Large selection of small bite sized sweet treats as well. Decent selection of drinks and a good large place off the side of the groceries both indoors and outdoors to sit and eat your foods. Restrooms are clean. They do tend to clean and clear the hot bar early so dont come in too late in the evening, which is something I was not aware off coming in 45 minutes before closing time. Still had a decent amount of selection left when we came in.
Used the place for Amazon returns. I didnt need return box
Im chronically severely ill, bedbound. I have been a customer for a long time and am living nearby. But cant obviously shop in the store, I am lucky if I have someone who can shop for me. But I cant for the life of me understand that as big a company Whole Foods has grown into, why you have not changed the ability for disabled or low income people to pay online using food stamps?! It makes no sense when I watched the founder talk about the first shop, and it flooded. He had nothing to rebuild it with, but all the employees and neighbors came and helped rebuild the store...so I wonder where did the spirit of helping neighbors go? Seems like a pretty corporate thing to do, only allow us to use a debit card attached to an empty account? Not impressed, but I find it sad and not in the giving spirit of the founder.
Large selection of fresh produce organic and non-organic. Great bakery.
They didnt have parasite clense. But they had a ton of nice stuff
Should accept plastic bags for recycling like other grocery stores.
Excellent service and selection and since Im a prime member, I get extra discounts!
Not nearly as extensive as this store should be.. Walked out empty handed when this store should have had plain ole slippery elm bark powder..! Thoroughly Disappointed..
Many good healthy things to buy here. Fresh fish!
More like working at an Amazon warehouse than going to the market.
I only came here to get vegan cake for my vegan friends birthday. I thought I would get some other groceries while I was there but I struggled to find anything affordable. I prefer Trader Joes.
No rotisserie chicken. Came all the way.
The only store I can trust to pick avocados for pickup during COVID
Aisle wideness is only issue. Very nice busy place.
It was amazing theyve n excellent selection of clean real food n theyre not a souless profit driven force in the market place i love whole foods its unlikely Id trust anyone elseThank You to everyone of you whom has made the nessicary sacrifices toKeep such sn awesome organizationAlive
Visited the location in Madison Wi yesterday. Disappointed. Set up of the store made it feel narrow and crowded and none of the hot prepared food that I was looking forward to getting was available.
Don’t bring your Amazon returns here. Followed instructions to return here but was told my package was too large. They were pretty rude about it.
If you like having very limited options and paying 3X the normal price, this is the place.
Aisles way too small and store always overcrowded. I didnt feel safe, so I grabbed a few OVERPRICED items and got out of there.
Way over priced. You can get cheaper organic in other stores
Smallest whole foods Ive ever been too... Not the full experience you get in big cities
Wide selection of organic foods. Nice wine and cheese selection. Always something unique to find. Plenty of fresh meat and bakery items. Discount offered with Amazon Prime membership.
My berry cake only had one blueberry inside
Love this store. Always stop when in Wisconsin. Wish there was a closer WHOLE FOODS near me
Love this store. Produce is always impeccable. Meat case. Cheese selections and the curried chicken salad in the deli! Wow!
Buyers remorse over some cocktail weiners. So 4 make a serving. Bought 2 servings. Thats 8 ounces I was charged for, got home and the weight including the box is 5 ounces. $7.92 for this, what a gross overcharge. I will never shop here again.
I love it that you get extra discount with prime .
The food is good as expected, but avoid ordering delivery from this location unless you really need to. They do not insulate the frozen/refrigerated groceries and have them out for delivery for over 90 minutes! Not good for food safety.
Love that I can always find food my allergy kids can eat. This store is always crowded and its impossible to navigate your cart through all the tight spaces.
No way could I shop regularly here. Not enough junk food.
The person behind the cheese counter was helpful. The checkout employee was really nice.
Incredible variety in every department!Well stocked and clean! Ongoing cleaning details throughout the store.
An extensive selection of great products. Parking is a chore. Narrow aisles with nicely organized goods.
Rude staff, I wont be back
Friendly service & full variety of services provided, including deli, meat & seafood, bakery, cheese & couterie, produce, hot foods.
Crazy busy but the staff was very nice
Cashiers need to be friendlier in check-out to customers!!
I really do like this store. Some of the prices are amazing and I take a special trip to the store for those items. Its fun to just wander around checking out the fun items.
The cashier was rude. There was not one employee there that was willing to help anyone.
Well its definitely been overhauled by the Amazon overlord. There were about 10 associates running around fulfilling pickup orders. This, along with the store being so crammed full of holiday displays made navigating the aisles and social distancing almost impossible. Other shoppers are very pushy, and I found myself going out-of-my-way to get out of the way. You essentially have to assert yourself to effectively get your shopping done here. Its worse than woodmans, where at least people are polite and forgiving about being in each others way. The store is waaaay to small for the amount of traffic/business they are getting. They should have a separate WFM warehouse to process pick-up orders especially since the fulfillment team are unfriendly and make it seem like youre a nuisance. Some redeeming qualities include the extensive healthcare department, fantastic assortment of prepared foods+baked goods, beautiful fresh produce selection, and the very kind folks working the seafood and cheese counters. I made sure to use up my entire gift card so I wouldnt have to make another trip to this place. Spare yourself the chaos and visit one of Madisons Willy St. co-op stores.
Superb variety of wonderful items I have not seen elsewhere. Plus…excellent customer service!
Great selection. Dont forget to get your Amazon Prime discount.
Love this location. Everyone is always super nice. Its clean and cashiers are happy to help. HD is our favorite and Ill always look for them if we can!Thomas the seafood butcher is AMAZING. Hes always super helpful, friendly, always say hi, and has great suggestions for new fish and foods.
Wonderful people work here
They have the best cakes, always.
No good coffee bar options but I guess I’m from Austin and the Whole Foods there is huge with lots of options. Online one hour pick up is very convenient however they substituted a wheat baguette with a loaf of wheat sandwich bread which I would much prefer just a regular baguette and I called to fix it And it’s been 15 minutes and they refused.
The produce quality is second to none. Staff are always quite helpful. Discounts for Amazon Prime members are sometimes substantial. Great store!
Absolutely the worst shopping experience in Madison. The last three times I was there (we only go once in awhile as a treat since they are so overpriced), my family has been treated rudely by staff, typcially very rude deli staff who I was supposedly told was ratified due to numerous complaints. On this last occasion, and truly last occasion as I wont ever be going back, a staff member was standing at the front door and barked as we came into to shop please dont come here in groups anymore since we are so busy and trying to be safe with Covid-19. Taken aback, I said it was my wife and daughter with me, but he still insisted only one of us should come in the future. This immediately soured our whole trip right at the start, and we ended up only buying a small bakery item and leaving. While we all take Covid-19 very seriously, a sign would be less confrontational rather than being accosted by a staff member right as you come in the door, and so rudely as well. The reason I gave 2 stars is that although pricey, the selection and quality of most food items there is excellent, but certainly can be found at local Co-ops as well. Im never going back.
They should rename this place “Amazon Food Warehouse”. 75% of the COVID mandated occupancy limit is take up by bumbling Prime shoppers. Very few of them actually knew the layout of the store. None of them socially distance and are flying all over the place, back and forth from one side of the store to the other. Whole Foods/Amazon could learn something from Metcalfe’s where they have professional employees do the shopping for delivery orders. The real store employees are doing a fine job mitigating the chaos, but only so much can be done. Shopping in person makes you decide what’s worth your time, but it’s so much easier to order 15 lbs of every lunch meat on the menu when you don’t have to physically stand there and wait for it. Unless Amazon does something to schedule the Prime shoppers so that only X many are allowed in the store, I’ll be going to Metcalfe’s.
Love this place!
Has just about everything you need.
It was nice to see in these pandemic times that Whole Foods was cleaning carts, making masks mandatory and having hand sanitizer available & plexiglas barriers at the registers. The food is always good & these safety features made me feel better about entering a store during these times. I have only been in 2 stores since the beginning of March.
I was disappointed that Whole Foods sold out to Amazon.A product I normally get there they no longer carry.
This location always has the best produce and the staff are friendly, very helpful and eager to assist. It can get a little cramped on the weekends, but which grocery store doesnt!? If they dont have the brand you want, the store brand is very comparable and sometimes only cost a faction of the cost. I recommend this store for vegans, people transitioning, as well those who mix it up like myself. Im on the road to healthier practices, but it takes time to get used to the reality of living healthy and feeling much better in the end!
Carries products I cant get elsewhere. I wish it was larger, though. The big Whole Foods stores have great selection. This small one is pretty limited. I hope they can build a larger store in the area someday. I like being able to use my Amazon app, too.
Standard whole foods, but the place is usually hoppin and on the smaller size, esp for the amount of people it serves.
Great place to shop for unusual products that I cant find in a regular grocery store.
The customer service aint great.
Unreasonably expensive
I think the store, employees, and the products that are sold are excellent! I don’t know what anyone has to complain about. It’s such a cute store with tasty food. Although I cannot shop there often due to my financial state at the time being, I enjoy the times that I can come in and buy a few treats or organic items. You guys rock! 😘
Very good.
Very accommodating regarding non-traditional Atypical requests such as leftover fish heads spines and tail forpeople on disability budget. I want to make fish broth/stock. They are saving leftovers for me frozen.I appreciate it so much and bow down to whole foods
It was ok. I only went there to pick up fish and a few odds and ends, Im stocking up because of all the crazy shutdowns rules.
I really wish they’d have more, and more consistent, vegan options in their hot bar. They’ve had vegan mashed potatoes and macaroni and it’s the best I’ve had. Love the vegan pizza and “chicken” Their vegan pesto is wonderful.
You can choose with closed eyes! Everything is really good!
A friends mom had went in and was saying how her shopping experience wasnt good. So I had been putting off going, well, I should have stayed home. I was walking in and seen a sign, clean carts with an arrow, I looked seen a cart, went to grab it. I had seen carts outside and assumed those were the unsanitized ones, which lead me to believe this one was good to go. As I start pushing the cart, an employee starts yelling at me. I couldnt figure out what was happening. Apparently it was not a clean cart, but really, where is the niceness to the paying customer. I went in and they didnt even have the items, I specifically went for. I made my way to the check out with my couple items and seen signs. So I read, this lane doesnt take cash, ok so I go into the lane next to it, no sign, but she doesnt take cash either, once again rudeness. Ok, Ill use my card for my small purchase, and then the company can pay the card fee. Overall not worth the 45 minute drive one way!
I was called crazy by one of the cashiers at this location then told I could not be in her line because I asked for a divider and she decided to yell at my wife. When I asked for a manager to speak with some lady wearing an blue mask (the ones that are for hospital workers) She didn’t even speak to her employee about it. She took my phone number and said the manager would call me. I’m still waiting for the call. The cashier also had the balls to turn around and talk bad about me to her co-workers? This is never ok. So now I’ve been lied too and verbally abused by there employees and still no word from them...
Employees always outstanding!!! I cant thank Amazon enough for price control. I just love everything from food to handmade soap at whole foods! Id go more often but they are 1 hour away from our home in Illinois. 10 min from our condo in South Beach. LOVE Them!!!
This, being the only whole foods in the area, should get 5 stars, mainly out of desperation. I am used to seeing one whole foods every few blocks in Chicago, so I was excited to finally find the one in Madison. It is difficult because the local Co-Op (which is great) does not carry some of my favorite things and so it is really nice to have access to most of the brands and foods that I have grown to enjoy. I typically dont make it here frequently, but I always find it worth the trip. They seem to always sell out of rotisserie chicken early, so it helps to get there earlier in the day. It is smallish for a whole foods (comparatively) but it is packed with a lot of the foods that I go there for.
Whole Foods is a great experience. A significant number of products that we cannot obtain in our hometown
What a frustrating place to be in. Attitude and unappreciative clerks. Not sure if they are ever trained to always appreciate and respect the customer. Also why the hell you stop returns??? Probably using the Covid excuse to make more profit.
I was able to find everything it was there for and impulse buy a couple of quality Christmas gifts. The produce is all healthy and wholesome, the shelves are always well stocked, the store is well lit, and the bakery and hot foods sections are full of delicious offering. Sometimes I stop in for lunch in the sitting area before doing my shopping. The staff are helpful, cheerful, and knowledgeable. The store always has good sales, demo areas, and other tastings.
Really good food. Love the place. (Note: I have, unfortunately, not been there for the past 2 years so I don’t know what all has changed. But if it has changed, it was a really nice place!) Think imma go see if they got sea grapes.
Nice establishment. Employees and management are attentive and concerned with your satisfaction of product.
Management does not resolve problems or train staff on better customer engagement. This whole foods allows employees to treat customers poorly & boorishly again & again. You’ve lost a customer. I can get everything cheaper on vitacost or some non-amazon/whole foods owned option.
Has interesting options but over priced and crowded.
Found out they have Ta-Dah falafel wraps here so it will be a regular stop for us when we stock up on groceries now.
Great specialty grocery store with a good selection of local, organic, and conscientiously-selected items. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable, willing to help locate, give information, etc. Its awesome that if you want to sample a product, theyll open a package right in the aisle for you, and if you dont care for it, theres no pressure to purchase. The bakery, cheese, and meat/seafood departments are fantastic. I like the rating scale applied to animal products that lets you know how humanely the animal was raised.I would give five stars, but the parking lot is small, and the store itself is cramped. It can get pretty busy, and navigating the aisles can be like playing bumper cars. Id love to see another, larger store open up in Madison. Prices are on the higher end, but I think thats to be expected when youre buying quality items.Overall, a solid place to shop.
Helpful workers
