I had such a fun time visiting Old Sugar Distillery! The bartender was a joy to chat with and loved explaining all of the spirits they produce in-house. Great for fun cocktails and a bottle of rye to bring home.

The drinks are incredible. I highly recommend recommend the honey cap. The only problem you will have, is to know when to stop.

We were visiting Madison and booked this tour. We did not check that the tour is available only on Saturdays. However, the manager still honored Groupon on Thursday evening. Gave us a private tasting. We never felt rushed. It was very insightful. I would definitely recommend this place. You will definitely feel welcomed here.Also, reusable straws. They care about environment as well.

We booked a distillery tour and tasting. It was mostly a tasting but we enjoyed it. Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly. Had a good variety of cocktails. Mostly dark liquor.

Our welcome gathering venue fell through last minute for our wedding last July and Old Sugar saved the day! The new tasting room ended up being the perfect location to see all of our family and friends before the big day. Old Sugar is one of our favorite neighborhood places to grab a yummy cocktail so it was the perfect fit. The staff was incredible, friendly and accommodating and our guests raved about the delicious drinks! I would highly recommend reserving this location for any gathering!

Amazing cocktails and spirits.

They have several tables in the back that can be reserved for a smallish event; I reserved them (for free!) for a graduation party of about 30 people and it was perfect! Everyone had a wonderful time, the space was very cool, the drinks were absolutely delicious and the service was excellent. We had a few people order from the menu (limited snack/appetizer type options) and we also had pizza delivered from Sals, which was great. I will definitely be going there again, and would recommend them for an event space! They also have a larger space available to rent for bigger events.

High quality distillery with great cocktails, friendly staff and a beautiful space. Great patio for the warmer months (good dog friendly!), and perfect hangout inside in the winter. Sometimes they have really great live music, too!

We hosted our very first event with about 85 attendees at Old Sugar Distillery this past month, and we got a number of compliments about the venue. People loved the scenery, and the staff made the experience memorable for everyone. They were very easy to communicate with leading up to the event as well and got back to any questions in a timely manner. If youre looking to host an event in Madison, I highly recommend this place!

Rented out the Rickhouse event-space for a birthday party-Old Sugar really did everything to make my birthday extraordinary and special and I didnt have to worry about anything, which took the stress of planning a party away!We appreciated the flexibility of the staff, the bartenders and the cocktails they made, and their willingness to do a tasting for our group!The table layout was perfect (picnic tables AND high-tables) and music/ audio was pretty seamless to set up as well! Highly recommend this venue for its ease and service!

Recently bought Groupon tickets to a liquor and cider tasting here. The staff running the tastings were extremely knowledgeable of their product and funny as well. The spirits are top notch and the ciders are refreshing and unique. We left with several bottles of alcohol for ourselves afterward. Fantastic place

Fabulous staff, incredibly knowledgeable and not shaming for those of us with more common drinking habits. Great selection of distilled spirits, order a flight, or two, or three. And try the Smashes too! The cheese/sausage platter was fantastic, from next door too!! Well be back!! :)

Blown away by the quality and originality of the house distilled spirits! Really reasonable prices too. Flight of 5 spirits for $7 and they give good pours! Hardly needed more after that. Great atmosphere too. A little loud for intricate conversing.

Drinks are so good! Ive been sticking to the gin gimlet because I love it but tasted several of my friends drinks- original and delicious! They also have happy hour and drink prices are reasonable for such quality cocktails. If youre hungry they have pizza- great place!

We had our wedding reception at Old Sugar Distillery in August 2015. It was a fantastic venue for our group. Nathan and the staff were incredibly helpful in the time leading up to the big day and worked with us early that morning so that we could set up the space to our specifications.There was enough room to set up a buffet style meal, and there is a dedicated bar in the warehouse event space. We were able to hook up our own music and there was plenty of picnic table seating that they had just added.The night went off without a hitch. Our guests were blown away by the space and the quality of the cocktails. It was an amazing night that we will never forget.Other than the wedding we love having a relaxing cocktail on the weekends and stocking up on bottles of Gringo around the holidays.

Great service and excellent drinks served in a decent space with no food.The spirits are tasty, the cocktails delicious. The gringo seems to be the gateway drink here, with other favorites being added infrequently. The root beer is tasty, as are both varieties of chai toddy (my friends agree the drink is better with ouzo than honey liqueur).This is a wonderful place to visit early in the evening. Conversation becomes difficult as the room fills; nigh impossible around the large, round table near the door.

Hosted a party in Old Sugars private event room. The atmosphere was a great way to welcome our guests to Madison, and they loved the cocktails! Excellent customer service throughout the planning process as well!

I went here with 3 other people with a livingsocial deal. First off that deal was very awesome! We each had about 3 tastings, 2 cocktails and split a meat and cheese plate. The sorghum whiskey was the best! That has to be in my top two whiskeys of all time. The staff was wonderful and very helpful. The bar was clean and spacious. This is truly a gem in the heart of Madison.

Especially negative ones because ya never know if someone may be just having a bad day or maybe something happened that may be impacting them that day but this issue was from almost all that worked there.We were looking for a place we havent been to yet, a unique pace for a nice drink. When we walked In i mentioned we were first timers there and that we would like a recommendation based on what I explained we were kinda looking for. The response was drab and seemed like we were annoying him. There were no little pleasantries, welcome. We got our drinks and the longer we sat there the more awkward it was. Even the silent communication between the staff were unpleasant.Im sorry to the owners/management/employees and regulars that I posted this. I am just hoping that this post will be noticed and worked on as I have high hopes for businesses to do well and thrive or at least do well. The drink was excellent!!

Looks great and drinks seem nice, but service needs improvement. I asked nicely, held my hands up, tried to get the attention of the two tenders to no avail. This is the second time Ive had this happen and only at this establishment does this happen.

I purchased the groupon for 2 last night. It included a cocktail, 4 liquor samples, chips, cheese and a set of old sugar glasses for $31. It was a beautiful fall night, so we sat outside.The cocktail selection is remarkable. We were all really impressed. Drinks ranged on average $5-$7. I had multiple Honey Cap cocktails, which is their specialty if you like something sweet. I also, had some sort of pumpkin drink that was tasty but I could only have one.Overall, our experience was great. We are within a 10 minute walk so we will back. Downsides are that there are no other bars or restaurants in immediate proximity. This makes it hard to make a night out of it. Breese Stevens was having a concert which made parking a nightmare...but normally street parking would be fine.

Good service in a cool setting with really unique cocktails. Their flights are a good value, and they have some appetizers as well. I am looking forward to seeing their new releases in the future!

Lovely liquor batch produced by hipsters. It is delicious. Great place to go with friends and have a couple drinks. Remember, this is a distillery first, not a bar... Hours are limited, and the drink menu isnt extensive.

The Saturday tours are an absolute blast! Super funny and highly knowledgeable. Be prepared to drink and laugh.

The dude who makes the ouzo lemonade seems to know his stuff and is very nice and slings great drinks.

Favorite place in Madison to get cocktails. The honey liquor is a whopping 80 proof and is amazing. Highly recommend the Honey Cap and the Gringo. Very reasonably priced. They have some food now including Banzo hummus and some cheese/meat boards which is a great addition. My only complaint is that theyre only open until 10PM.

Great little bar near the capitol. Quiet, trendy, with the best honey liquor you will ever taste. Hard to find as it is hidden away in the middle of an industrial zone, this place is a hidden local gem.

The drinks were great, the location is cool, decorated well. We went on a Saturday so it was pretty busy, took a whIle to get acknowledged even sitting at the bar and we didnt get checked on much. I would go back maybe on a less busy night.

This place is clean and well lit, a helpful staff, and a vibe that reminded me of Asheville. Highly recommended on a chilly night to warm up with a whiskey or honey liqueur. Also: They have a pretty nice bike rack, which can be hard to come by.

Unfortunately, Im not able to drink beer. Ive had hundreds of ciders. Old Sugar Distillery is top notch. I highly recommend trying them.

This is definitely the place to go to if you are looking for a cool location with great drinks, but dont expect a huge variety in the menu and dont come here hungry as there isnt any food to speak of. However, if you want a good cocktail or a great gift (since they sell a variety of bottles and gift sets) Id highly recommend it. There is also a nice selection of tables outside during the summer.
