Trans-a-Matic is the best! Highly recommend them. Wouldnt go anywhere else for Transmission work.3 years ago, we took our Explorer in thinking the transmission was bad (kept slipping going up the mountain).They checked it out and said the transmission was fine. A year later, we took it in with the same issues thinking for sure it needed to be replaced. Again the transmission was fine, they referred us back to our mechanic and found it was a sensor. After replacing the sensor it ran like a charm for another year. We got 3 more years on our transmission before having to be replace (our Explorer is 16 years old).They did a fantastic job. We couldnt be happier with it.This just goes to show out reputable and honest they are. Anywhere else would have taken our money first time around and replaced the transmission when it wasnt needed.Thank you! You have a customer for life!!!

Expensive, but honest. They do good work.

My family has used this place for many years. They are very honest! For example we just had our dodge Durango there and its been kicking on 4 wheel drive by its self. It chewed up the transfer case and front end gears. Its an older Durango with lots of mileage. They said it would cost more than the Durango is worth and gave us the option to fix or not. We decided not to fix it because something else may go out. Just want to thank you guys again for being a great company!!!

Very awesome place to bring a troubled transmission, the staff immediately helped educate me a little bit to my specific car (known issues and flaws because they have fixed them before) and I cant say this for everyone because my situation was pretty simple, but they did an evaluation on my MT trans that grinds sometimes and checked my gear oil for $10!!!! The staff was way awesome at helping me know how serous it may or may not have been and made me feel comfortable about a problem i was really stressed about.

Built my trans and I have had nothing but problems. They kept beating around the fact they havent built it right, and just kept fixing it with bandaid fixes to just get me out of warranty. Its just not there problem now, unless I want to give them more money. Please avoid them for your sake.

Where to begin? I own a Subaru less than five years old and less than 90,000 miles on it. A little bit ago it starts throwing codes and I mean a lot of codes. So I take it to three different shops who will remain nameless. Who all told me that it was a $7,000+ because it was a special car with a special transmission. So we asked around, Doug and his shop came up. I thought to myself well its far, the car might blow up trying to get there, etc.Best Decision we have ever made was taking it to Doug. Doug looked at my car, where the other shops said it would take weeks to look at. First he told me that I needed a new battery and that it would take care of some of the codes. Sure enough, one code was left the transmission (scary). Doug said not to worry and that it could be a lot of things, bringing this all home, it was a value. He replaced it in one day! one! for fraction of the cost. Saving us thousands of dollars.Doug you have a new customer for life. Your honesty and work ethic is refreshing when it comes to the world of mechanics. That fact that you walked me thru your thinking was great! ( i know nothing of transmissions). If youre looking around this is the first and last stop you need to take.

I have used them 4 or 5 times over the past 15 years and always been happy. On one vehicle another shop wanted to replace my motor. I called Trans-A-Matic and explained the problem. Over the phone they thought it was a flex plate and gave me a quote. This was much cheaper than a new motor. When I dropped off the vehicle they told me they had quoted me incorrectly and the price would be less. Turned out it was the flex plate and they did the work for less than the original quote. Drove the vehicle for several years after the repair. Very honest and they know what they are doing.

I have been coming her for over 20 years. I trust Doug and the story you get here is exactly what is the problem and what needs to be fixed at an honest price. I keep coming back and refer anyone I know who needs any type of transmission issue.

I had taken my car to have the transmission serviced at Tanner Transmission (Taylorsville, UT) (their signature flush) and they told me I had to get my transmission replaced. Not believing Tanner Transmission I wanted a 2nd opinion. I took my car to Trans-A-Matic and they told me the exact opposite. Other than one of the clutch plates wearing thin (but still within reason) the transmission was fine. Tanner Transmission has sales goals to hit Trans-A-Matic would rather treat people fairly and do a good job.Make an appointment before you go and they will treat you well.I will recommend Trans-A-Matic to everyone I know!Stay away from Tanner Transmission!

Let me know what was wrong with my truck within 6 hours of dropping off so that I could pick up and get it to a different shop
