Ed is a very good mechanic but like many he is slammed right now. His work is outstanding but best of all he is honest and wont try to add stuff to your bill. He will keep you safe.
Great place always recommend trusted friendly people excellent work and service
I bought a car from here last year. I took my car to him again because the light came on for my engine within a week of purchase. He kept saying there was nothing wrong with it after using the device and having it looked at. I finally was able to take it to a different trusted mechanic and they told me my car is going through engine failure and that I was scammed/lied to. My money is gone and I was lied to from the start. I wasnt offered to drive it alone or anything which shame on me I should have just walked away but was desperately in need of a car at the time. Ive been car-less the past year now because of this and saving to buy at a more trusted place. Will be making sure friends and family dont come here. Eddie is a scammer and I wish I had filed against him/knew the law to get my money back instead of trusting my friend that thought he was an honest guy.
Mr. Ed is a really great car person. We traded our old truck in for a newer version. He fixes whatever needs to be fixed with a good sense of humor, smile, and good knowledge of the vehicles. Also Joyce his office assistant was courteous, friendly and fun to wait with. I highly recommend this place for a purchase of a used car, truck or have work done. Thanks guys & gals.
*READ THE ATTACHED IMAGE FOR THE FACTS FROM THE STATE OF MASSACHUSETTS INVESTIGATION INTO AUTOTECH AKA DC AUTOMOTIVE*Avoid at all costs. There are many other used car dealers and mechanics operating in the greater Boston. That vehicle they are selling that you really want will be available somewhere else soon.I went to view a rare luxury vehicle. There were signs that this business was shady from the beginning. Owner Eddie did not let me take the vehicle on a test drive myself and refused to let me take it for a pre-purchase inspection because he said he only had one dealer plate. He only lists on Craigslist and does not use Carfax in order to save a few bucks- pretty laughable for a place that he says has been in business for thirty years. After negotiating, I purchased the vehicle. When I took it to my mechanic a few days later, he discovered serious issues. When I told Eddie, he outright refused to take my car in for repairs within the 30 day warranty period set by the state for qualifying used cars. He soon blocked my number. Weird considering he bragged about how he goes above and beyond for people that buy cars from him. The main issue was a sunroof that did not properly close causing water to flood the car. Eventfully, the electronics failed because of water damage. It was estimated by the dealer to be a $9,000 fix- far more than what I paid.I filed for arbitration through the MA Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation. Eddie was flustered, emotional, and could not explain himself. The arbitrator ruled in my favor and he was forced to write me a check for the original purchase price due to Autotechs illegal business tactics. It appears from reading other reviews that they sell vehicles purchased dirt cheap at auction with major issues. They have gone by many names including Autotech, Autotech II, DC Automotive Malden, and Eddies Autotech, probably to run from the bad reviews. They also appear to have multiple Facebook pages. The Office of Consumer Affairs and the Attorney Generals office- just to name a few- are now aware of the kind of business being run here.
I feel compelled to write this review about the experience I had buying a car last year. Basically, it went terribly. Car had multiple issues from the get go. One of the biggest issues was the rocker panels were rusted out completely ( under the tar they covered it with). The problem Im having with that is I cant even sell the car to anyone because of the condition of the body. I wouldnt sell this car to another human being knowing what I know. After reassuring me, after I bought the car, that this hack job was perfectly fine, to my suspicion, holes started to appear on the rocker panels from the quick fix they did to sell the car. He made me feel as though I got a deal on the car, might I add. My mechanic was horrified at the condition of this vehicle after I bought it . My bad for not bringing it to him first, that was one of my own personal errors made in this situation. So with this all being said, now I will be stuck trading the car in a dealership for a very low value. I thought this was going to be a good experience here but I quickly learned that it was not. Very typical used car dealer. Possibly more deceitful and less caring though, in my humble opinion. Beware buying a car from this place, or simply do not.
High-quality, professional service.Ive brought my car to Autotech multiple times over the past year, Eddie and his team have always addressed my vehicles issues promptly and professionally while also delivering quality service at very reasonable prices. The team is responsive and always generates quick updates on work status. A great go-to for vehicle owners in the Boston area.
It is a scam. The store is also named as dc auto, DC AutomotiveHere is my story:the service was called by GEICO my insurance to jump start my car. The person came over and persuaded me to change the battery for 210 dollars. Three days later, I saw low battery warning on the panel. I called the number listed on the battery, the guy (I guess he is the owner) stated that he is a 30 year experienced mechanic (really???), insisted there is something wrong with my car and refused to come over to check his battery. I have to take the car to the dealership. The technician checked everything and told me the battery was bad (must be super bad, otherwise why was it broken within 3 days). I texted the owner again, wow this time he asked me to take the car back and he will replace the battery for me after I spent over $200 examination fee at the dealer (seriously???). I replaced the battery at the dealership of course.I asked him for half refund. He agreed. The next day I wanted to confirm with him on when and how he would give me refund. he didnt answer my call. just texted me saying it would be around 8 pm. I told him I could go to his store. He told me that he would call me in a bit. Actually no call till the end of the day. I texted him at 6 pm, he replied that he would call me within an hour (you could guess, of course no call~~). I texted him again two hours later (830 pm), he said he was in NH and asked me to come to Saugus to meet when he came back without estimates(if he came back at 10 or 11 pm, I have to go to Saugus to meet him to get my half refund??? Even it is not my fault at all). I got really angry at this moment and texted back either give me full refund or if he didnt feel guilty, he could keep the money. he said OK.He didnt say sorry since the beginning and treat me as I am the one at fault. Despite the business part, how could one person treat the others like this. The owner is not reliable, and has no credit at all. you could imagine how the store could be if the owner is like this.
Great service, willing to help and answer your questions. We were home on vacation in Maine and broke down on our way to Virginia. The technicians went above and beyond to work quickly and ensure our car was safe and road worthy for a long drive south. I would use them again and again.
I walked into this location not sure if its a dealership mechanic shop or what is it but I thought it was a professional dealership after several weeks of searching for a Jeep liberty 2010 black I walked into auto tech because they had the jeep I was looking for for an excellent price even though I saw one down the street that was perfect for about $2000..... From the gecko Ed says he does not have the title so when he asked me for a $500 deposit I told him that I will have cash by the time he has the title in hand that was on a Friday aug 5 2017 on so almost a month and a half later still did not receive the car I have had the check in my hand for over a month and now he wont pay for the car rental that I had to rent because of him
I bought a 2011 Hyundai Elantra in May 2018. Love it. Eddie is the guy! If you have Hyundai you should be seeing this guy for all your car problems.
Do not shop here. Just came from court on a lawsuit against autotech. Sold me a vehicle with extreme engine problems. Car is non working. Brought it back 3 times within 30 day warranty over the same problem. Owner refused money back guarantee. Car couldn’t even pass inspection the first time around. Be careful with your purchases at autotech
