Went there today for the first time. Drove an hour and a half with my son. My son was so excited. The selection was more than I expected. The prices are really, really good and lastly, the customer service was fast, helpful and knowledgeable. The overall experience was awesome. I dont usually leave reviews but felt this strongly about this place.

Great store! Our kids love trains so we came to buy a present on one of their birthdays, and they loved it. Lots of model trains for serious enthusiasts, but plenty of little kid toy trains for the little ones that arent big enough for a serious model yet.

These guys are great and have always been helpful. I’m happy that they have been offering curbside pick up all this time, which I have used numerous times, but I hope the storefront opens soon. Out of the 4 train stores I visit, this is the only one that the store is closed. This is not a complaint in anyway. Just seems like you guys are missing out on much needed revenue. I want to come in and give you my money!

Went here today and while store hours said they were open, there was a small sign on the door saying closed to public. Wish I could have gone in to see as it looked cool, but when I called the number they said they werent sure when theyd open. I get COVID but at this point nearly every other place is open safely. Not sure what the deal is here. They should update their google hours to reflect this.

I recently brought in a couple of vintage American Flyer locomotives and a transformer in for repairs. The set belonged to my dad and as a kid I remember setting it up with him. So, it naturally has a lot sentimental value. Butch and the repair team took excellent care of each piece and was super honest on what was worth fixing and what would be incredibly expensive. I was so excited to set it up today - brought back a lot of memories and even sent a video of it to my dad who was as excited as I was to see it working again! Thank you to Butch and team!!

I was in the store & an employee was bragging about ripping off a father & son & did the bait & switch, when he wanted a starter set. let me see them explain it ohh & yes i have it all on my phone .STAY AWAY

Brought in a defective brand-new unit and was given a replacement on the spot which was supposed to also be brand-new. Appreciated the fast service; however, the traction tires on the replacement were clearly different from the original. One kept falling off causing derailment and the other very quickly started fraying at the ends. There was also considerably more grease on the replacement. In all a very frustrating experience for a ready to run set bought for the holidays

This is the model train store for New England. Its even located inside an old train depot building. They have a wide variety of scales, models, rolling stock, and locomotives. If you love train sets this is a good visit.

I live in NY and I have a few hobby stores in my area to shop, but none of them can even come close to Charles Ro Supply selection and pricing. Even with the more than fair flat rate shipping charges, I still save a good amount of money to buy more trains. I have contacted them a few times and the staff is respectful, knowledgeable, and patient. Hands down the BEST around. Give them a shot, you will not be disappointed. Great selection of everything you could need across every scale of model railroading. Their rolling stock and locomotive selection is the BEST I have seen. The staff is always happy to demo a locomotive for you as well.They are friendly and knowledgeable about modeling as well as local rail fanning. Plenty of Thomas and Friends for the kids too. Dont forget to venture upstairs to see the working Lionel layout.

Since childhood, I have been fond of models of trains and cars. I have a large collection. But visiting this store - I find myself in a fairy tale, there is such a huge assortment and there are very interesting options that I will someday acquire :)

If you dont love trains when you arrive at Charles Ro, you will by the time you leave. They say they are the worlds biggest train store, and I cant argue! We inherited a Lionel train from our grandparents but it was kissing a piece. The helpful staff knew exactly what we needed and where to find it. My children love going and looking around and finding bits to add to our train. Dont forget to visit the train set upstairs!

Went here with my 3 year old since hes starting to get into trains. Great selection of new and used lionel trains as well as other manufacturers. Definitely one of the largest model stores in general that I have ever been to. The clerks pretty much leave you alone to discover what they have. They have their track display upstairs but unfortunately they only operate it on Saturday. They do have a overhead track that they turn on in the showroom.

$10 was authorized for the shipping on the $51.96 order on 12/13/2019. When I received my DiscoverCard bill, there was an additional charge for $29.40. I was not called, emailed or notified in any way that I had an added charge of $29.40.So, lets be clear: I was charged a total of $39.40 in shipping fees for a $51.96 purchase. I contacted them several times, and their return email(s) were rude and uncaring. APPALLING!!!Living on the Central Oregon Coast results in online shopping the majority of the time. NEVER have I had COSTLY and UNDISCLOSED fees during what should have been a happy holiday.Who would knowingly pay $39.40 in fees for a $51.96 product; and why would CharlesRo choose to NOT call the customer to verified/ authorize such a charge? ...sick to my stomach...

Purchased a $500 Lionel Legacy engine Late March 2020 from these folks. The initial transaction good as expected. I received the item quickly, but it arrived with broken air hoses and the box had oil residue seeping from the bottom of the outer box. I removed the train from the box placed the train on the track and the ditch light were inoperable. I immediately called and spoke to Charlie the owner who told me he had a replacement once he received the returned item. They sent me a return authorization label. I sent the train back and it arrived there on April 3rd. I called them on Tuesday April 7th and talked to employee who identified himself as James. This person was not helpful and quite rude. He ultimately told me that my train would ship when they got around to it. I sent an email addressed to Charlie as to my experience with James and as of this date have not received a rely. Im sure hell reply to this review. On April 15th I received a Call from Butch, who asked me what was wrong with the train besides the broken air hoses in the front. I explained that The ditch lights were not working. he replied oh and said Ill get back to you. I said to him why dont you just send me a replacement like you said you would in the initial conversation with Charlie? He didnt reply and hung up abruptly. After not hearing back from them I recalled them on April 21st and talked again to Butch. Butch place me on hold for approximately 5 minute and when he got back on the phone he stated that they did not have a replacement and that they will be getting around to refunding my purchase. I have been collecting trains for more than 4 decades and have never had this much trouble with customer service I just wanted a replacement as agreed nothing more especially the unnecessary BS. Buyers beware . I get that there was other more serious issues occurring within our communities, but hey you were quick and efficient in taking my money during this same period. I have documented all conversations and correspondences with this company.

I found this store about a year ago and have found the store and staff to be very helpful. Being an Ho train guy I spend my time at the back counter with Rocko and Nick his very helpful side kick. These guys are great!!

I have lost all confidence in this store. The first order came thru no problems. Ordered a cw 80 transformer ordered on a tues went that wed. Arrived a week later. Now to the second order. I ordered a lionel husky stack car with eot device nov 20. On thurs nov 21 the ran a pre- authorization on my debit card. They said it would ship friday. It didnt. Then sat they said for shure on monday. Still no shipping. Tues morning they called stating that that car was not in stock, even though they told me it was in the packing room ready to be packed on sat. I agreed to the switch. Said it would go out today. It didnt. Now its a week since i ordered. One husky stack car with Eot device, a fatstrack terminal section and 3 10 inch straight tracks. 4 items and a week later still hasnt shipped. And i cant order from someone else because the money is in limbo waiting for them to comlete the transaction!! This is unacceptable!!! I would ordered alot from them in the future, but not no more. Will take my business elsewhere. The run around im getting here is bs. From ken zappia. The only way they can reedeem themselves is shipping my package tomorrow priorty 2 day shipping. Or cancel my order.

I traveled 2 hours to go to the store. While they claim to be a giant train store, there selection of used trains and especially buildings is almost non-existent. Almost everything is brand new out of the box. Only go here if you dont already own any model trains. I was hard pressed to find anything to match the era, look, or quality of what I already own. The used items they do have are over-priced. You will find your time much better spent at locally owned shops.

Awful customer service. Absolutely no manners, though I suppose in a dying culture it’s tough to represent your self with dignity and class. I’m making the switch permanently to online retailers.

I really really love this place and the staff (husband and wife who owns the location) are so friendly and willing to answer questions and share stories. Would recommend to anyone who loves model trains.

I havent built a model train set in 20 years and a ton has changed. I use N scale which is also tough to come across in most stores I used to go to. The guys here were super helpful and have a ton of stock in every guage, and I am blown away.

If you are a model railroaded, this the place for you. If you are a rail fan this is the place for you. The store has a large selection of anything to do with model railroading. Plan on being there for awhile because there is a lot of merchandise to look at. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Well be back next time I am in Boston.

Just before Christmas I purchased a Lionel set online from another dealer. The engine broke. After searching around for anyone who could make a quick repair/exchange, I discovered Charles Ro. The matter was urgent as this was part of a public display - waiting a week would have been impossible. Anyway, I no sooner walked into the store, explained my problem than I was walking out with a brand new engine to replace the broken one. Yes it was in warranty and that made it simpler. Still I was astounded by the fast, no questions asked service seldom seen these days. I will never by Lionel except at Charles Ro. A+ for service.

Very impatient employees. Shouldnt be in customer service. Bought a trolley that didnt work when arriving so had to pay for another due to Xmas, was promised a return shipping label which I never recieved. So made original purchase on Nov 30th and still dont have a working trolley on Nov 10th. Spend your money elsewhere. Would appreciate the mailing label to send first trolley back that doesnt work and a call from owner. I didnt demand another shipping label on Sunday, I only asked for the one I never recieved on December 5th that your employee says was sent. Your employees impatience with an issue that was not my fault. I spent 2 hours total waiting on MTHs tech support and even longer trying to resolve issue with your people. AND I STILL DONT HAVE A RETURN SHIPPING LABEL FOR ORIGINAL TROLLEY. Glad you checked your employees story but couldnt be bothered to make the call today to help resolve the return shipping label. Where too start. Well the prices are high on some and ok on others. Everythings new barley any used. Train layout is off limits I was told during the week even though I drove 3 hours just to shop there. Works are clueless and have a bad attitude. The owner should watch the workers more. Seems all these train stores have a lot of issues. This place is just ok. They decide to raise the prices when they want and also they have a horrible website. Good luck navigating that
