Definitely a place everyone should check out. Extremely unique. The owner is a great guy and is there to make your visit as best as possible.Got a ham and cheese sandwich and it was far better than almost any ham and cheese sandwich Ive had.Didnt get to check out too much else as I was in a hurry to get back to the office but I plan on going back many more times in the near future.Great selection of wines and beers, check out the pics 👌
Fabulous small restaurant/store. Owner was very helpful explaining the food choices and describing the beer selections. You can also try several wines, but we were interested in the beer. So many flavors of olive oil and balsamic vinegar that can also be sampled. We bought a bottle balsamic vinegar infused with vanilla and fig. Delicious! There is good reason for all of the positive reviews. This is a gem. Dont miss it.
I just found out this really cute spot in Manassas (it is almost hidden from the outside), but when you open the door you will find little great surprises. I came for the gourmet sandwiches but then realized they have a variety of artesan olive oils and Balsamics vinegars. That was a great! You can have a meal, coffee, a glass of wine, with a good background music even if you are in a hurry. It is not crowded, so you can feel comfortable. And, the prices are incredibly better that a fast food meal, but you will get real food and great service. If you are near by...I truly recommend you stop at this cozy place.
If you really want an to enjoy yourself and learn and taste and be treated with kindness, go to this place! They hardly exist anymore with the world of fast food and food chains. You have a lovely lunch and getting to know the amazing and owner of this very authentic place. The vinegars are to die for not to mention the oils. The cucumber white balsamic is beyond just a vinegar in my opinion. It goes on everything! Salad and steamed and/or raw veggies. I have been ordering online from the owner during the pandemic and whenever I called on the phone he was so kind and you could tell he cared deeply about his business. Sorry, its just so unusual in this day and age. Today we decided to take the 40 minute car ride and nearly spent the whole after noon there. What a delight!!! I dont leave reviews a lot. I just dont but this place and this man deserves it. Thank you so much!!
Taste of Old Country is more than just an olive oil store, its also a great place for a light lunch, since they offer a variety of sandwiches and have a complete espresso bar setup. They also offer wine tastings and fabulous charcuterie boards so its a great after-work option for drinks with friends. If you happen to really enjoy the wine or charcuterie you can also purchase them to bring home, since they offer a mini European market inside the store that sells all of their featured items and more.Of course, if youre looking for great olive oil, this is definitely the place to come since all of their oils are EVOO straight from family operated olive groves in Greece. They have award winning straight EVOO as well as flavor infused varieties to add flavor and dimension to your favorite dishes. Also, dont miss the extra aged balsamic and their outstanding variety of flavor infused balsamics. In short, this is a one-stop shop for foodies and not to be missed if youre in the area.
Visiting from out of town and stopped by. Very great good best gyro I have ever had. Excellent wine assortment with a very nice owner.
This place lives up to its name. First off you feel like you are in the old country enjoying a nice relaxing meal. We came here because my wife just had a baby and we wanted something relaxed to take a break. This reminded us of our visit to my cousins in Sicily. Not only was it a relaxed experience but we tried everything we could and all was amazing. My pictures dont do it justice but I wanted to share a little glimpse. We tried 2 great wines. Several cheese and meats, Spantikopita, multiple olive oils and balsamics, in addition we decided to get a couple of gift baskets for some friends who have done a lot of great help in these early days of parenthood. As a traveler I loved this place in my backyard.
My friends, including me, were planning a bridal shower for the sweetest girl; we wanted to do something extraordinary for her. We found this hidden gem place while searching for the party; long story short, everything about the place is outstanding. A few points that I want to emphasize about Taste of Old Country are as follows.*The quality of food: The quality of food that Elias (the owner) prepares is impressive. The olive oils, cheese, all other ingredients that they are using are another level. The wine that Elias selected is exceptional (I personally recommend red wines). Elias knows his FOOD.*The superb service: Elias asked us when the guests were arriving to serve the food tasted the best. Highly customized services according to our event schedule were just speechless. He really wanted us to have fun. He genuinely cares.*The place: The restaurant is cozy, clean, the atmosphere is welcoming and warm.Everyone who attended the party was fascinated by Eliass excellent service, quality of food, and how cute the place is. A few of us ended up buying olive oils on the same day. Please consider this place for your next special event, which you will not regret. Again, thank you, Elias, for your excellent work. We really had a blast time.
The food was very good. The place is smaller but homey and comfortable. Worth the stop!!
Enjoyed a leisurely and delicious lunch at one of the high boy tables as we talked with owner Elias Zarkadoulas about food, artisan oils and vinegars, and wine. This is a small destination location packed with an incredible selection for gourmet cooks throughout the year and seasonal gifts. I admit to leaving with a full box that will maybe hold me for a year. Ill find an excuse to come back!
I was planning a surprise Birthday party for my wife and decided to use Taste of Old Country for catering (so glad I did). Elias was great to work with from the start and helped me in selecting the right food options. What really a stood out to me, was his concern for preserving the great quality of his food since the food would be sitting around before the bday girl arrived. He made some suggestions and helped me implement them, and let me tell you, his food was a hit by all and we would certainly use them again and again! Been eating leftovers all week and the food is still really good! Great job to Elias and his staff!!!!
Had a good experience, food was tasty. Great for a casual lunch.
What a great find! Salads and sandwiches and amazing charcuterie boards with tasty meats, cheeses and more. They also sell olive oils and vinegars. We will definitely be back.
5 stars! I was sent here on a recommendation from a friend and was soooo impressed! The food was excellent! The service was golden! Today I carried out and brought my food home, it traveled extremely well, but I definitely would like to stay and have the full experience next time. Run, do not walk, to this place! I recommend the Greek platter!! Xo
An excellent experience with excellent food at an extremely affordable price. I live out of town but will absolutely be making a trip back. Don’t miss out on genuine food that has real depth prepared by a very cordial owner.
I just recently visited this place for the first time. Taste of Old Country is a very unique establishment- meaning it incorporates a wine bar with a variety of gourmet finger foods, salads, and other groceries. Additionally, it has one of the best tasting Greek olive oils Ive ever had. Keep in mind this is coming from someone who has tasted many of the authentic and top olive oils during my travels to Italy and Spain. If this isnt enough to lure you in, they also allow sampling of their gourmet oils and balsamic vinegars. Their olive oils are not only genuine, but have originated from the top three producing countries in Europe. Elias, the owner, is extremely knowledgeable when it comes to their products. He not only explains the whole process of olive oil production and wine making, but makes it very interesting while providing a glimpse into the behind-the-scenes action. Taste of Old Country has a great homely atmosphere and is perfect for getting together with friends, family or a date night. Its definitely a hidden gem in Manassas- 5 Stars all the way!
I had a great time with my friends. This place is beautiful and awsome!
Dropped by this place as it was the highest rate restaurant within walking distance of the Honda dealer nearby while my car was being serviced? I ordered a Greek panini and it was very very tasty.
Everything was excellent!! Food and service!! Food is all made to order!! I wish I could give more than 5 stars!!!
Great service and the food was amazing. Will definitely return.
Premium food and service, the panini were delicious! Olive oil and balsamic vinegar bar is amazing
A quick google search lead me to a local oil and vinegar shop since Ive moved and my usual one is over an hour away. Taste of Old County is a quaint and lovely shop. The attendant (I believe owner) was very helpful and welcoming. Smaller selection than some shops Ive been in but they thats because they clearly prioritize quality over quantity. They had some unique and award winning flavors while offering a variety of cheeses, sandwiches, salads and other items and I cant wait to go back and try other all they have, especially the sampler! (They had me sold at spanakopita) Hidden away in Manassas but worth seeking them out for sure.
Delicious food paired with wine and a huge selection of Olive oil and Balsamic. Looking forward to my next visit.
I had the pleasure of visiting Taste of Old Country for the first time last weekend with an out-of-town friend. It was an amazing experience. Elias, the kindhearted owner, attended us with exceptional consideration to our comfort and dining needs. Our paninis were extraordinary, and there wasn’t one wine in our flight that we did not enjoy (I brought home two bottles of the prosecco). One regret: I didn’t order my own piece of cake because the desserts are incredible. If you are like me and seek out local businesses to support, I can not recommend Taste of Old Country enough. As far as I’m concerned, Elias has gained a life-time customer.
Like great food
I was born in the unit that they operate out of. My parents rented it and used it as our home because there was no lawn maintenance needed. It was a great childhood.
Incredible food, quaint atmosphere and an amazing concept. If you want to have a unique experience in dining and a taste of culture, give this one a try.
We hosted our bridal shower at this location. The owner was absolutely wonderful, personal and made this a wonderful experience. We were able to rent the building out to ourselves at an affordable rate and had a wonderful time! Absolute gem of a location!!
This is a gem of a find! The experience was amazing and food out of this world. The owner, Elias, is very knowledgeable and welcoming. The atmosphere is inviting and quaint. Something you might find in a large city but tucked away in the corner of Manassas. I highly recommend this place for a date or to bring home something special.
Great food Greek style....many kinds of international wines and unbelievable kinds of virgin olive oils, many other products are available.....
Taste of Old Country is a small business that offers generous selections of Mediterranean foods with enormous flavor.Elias (owner) gave me his undivided attention to ensure every detail of my charcuterie order was fulfilled. All twelve (12) personal-sized trays were prepared and packaged (complete with tamper proof seals) by Elias. The charcuterie trays were a thank you to a small group of dedicated veterans who serve their communities and vets in need. Once the trays were displayed, no one in the group was shy about claiming one for themselves. The veterans praised the salami, bread, cheese, hummus, and spanakopitas which Elias was instrumental in selecting. Premium extra virgin olive oils (EVOO) added the finishing touch to satisfy selective palates.Taste of Old Country will continue to be a (small) business I patronize and recommend. The customer service Elias provides is superlative.
Just bought lunch here for the office, great food. Paninis very flavorful and fresh, and Baklava is fantastic way to end a great meal.
