Great little distillery here with extremely good wheat, rye, Bourbon, and gin liquors. Its not a large place so if you have a large group be sure to make reservations, especially if your going to take a tour. They dont have a kitchen but I did see some munchies on my way out so keep that in mind as youre drinking.
I had the most amazing time visiting KO Distilling. Everyone was SUPER polite and knowledgeable. If you have the pleasure of running into Greg then you are definitely in for a treat! He knows something about EVERYTHING and can provide you with so much information while making the perfect drink.. And breaking down your whiskey, bourbon, gin fact & flights😊.I HIGHLY recommend visiting
The staff, cocktails, tour, and atmosphere were all great! A very informative tour by Greg, and just a friendly and happy bunch of staff. Larry was wonderful, we talked with him for quite some time before we left. The drinks were delicious. Tables were well spaced apart, and cleaned thoroughly after each couple/small group left. Will certainly be back again soon.
Wonderful place. The people are fantastic as is the Bourbon. Ive been in few more welcoming places than here.
We hosted our Friends engagement ceremony here and they are beautiful people.Their hospitality is great.. always smiling and willing to helpDefinitely recommend hosting any event hereAnd a alecial shout out, Amy - She’s Best
Great local distillery! Tour was very informative and goes through the whole distilling process, the history of the distillery, and much much more. The tasting flight was fantastic and staff incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. The old fashioned was delicious! Highly recommend visiting
My wife and I stopped by today for a tasting, Greg was taking care of us and I must say he made our experience a great one, he explained the different bourbons and the proper way to nose and taste, Greg was a wealth of knowledge and we enjoyed listening to him as he has a very knowledgeable background. Let’s not forget the bourbon and gin was great as well.... I highly recommend...
Very friendly and gracious host - Amy.She went above and beyond to help us for the evening we hosted for our friends engagement ceremony.I would recommend this place anytime.
Great experience with a tremendous staff. Recommend trying the barrel finished gin and the reserve whiskey (won double gold). Beyond good spirits they have a great staff.
Had a tasting of 3 whiskeys and a drink. Frendly people, great tasting whiskeys. Wonderful relaxing time
Amazing time at the KO Distilling. We learned a lot about Whiskey and how they make it. We came with a party of 8 for a birthday and we were able to bring a cake. They store it for us in the fridge and they even gave us plates, forks and spatula to serve the cake! The whiskeys and cocktails were really good! We definitely recommend the place and well come back!
Excellent local distillery, stop in for an ABC approved tasting. Sign up for a tour of the distillery. Purchase your favorites on site. Highly recommend the Navy Strength Gin.
Its an excellent choice for sipping and tasting various types of whiskey. Loved the tour and the gracious hospitality while I was there. I had a great time!!
It was a nice experience trying something new. Their small batch bourbon was a challenge on the back of the pallet. But, the gentleman that greeted us and our server were not only nice, but they did a great job.
Had a great time. Bourbon whiskey and gin was good. If you are not a gin drinker because you dont like the piney taste, then this gin is for you (go with the navy strength!!!!). Less juniper. Wish could have sat in the bigger room. Looked nice and inviting but being used for bottle storage it seemed.
My fiance and I took the tour with Larry who was very intelligent, personal, and informative. My fiance works in the industry and learned alot from our tour! The whiskey is very exceptional and the cocktails are amazing! We will definitely be back!
Great service, super friendly and well educated!
Our visit to KO distillery was amazing and highly recommended. Gregg welcomed us and he was so knowledgeable in the science of distilling and transforming the results into wonderful product. We got a 4 shot tasting and and greg provided us a fascinating explanation on how each of the brands were developed . We learned so much on the steps to make bourbon, as well as their other lines. They also make many unique cocktails that are fantastic. We bought 2 bottles and are enjoying it. We intend to return to KO in manassas and you all should. Its really great to see how Virgnia has ground to an amazing state for craft beers, wines and now craft distilleries. Enjoy
Tour was very informative and guide was awesome explaining everything in the process of distilling! def worth the experience 😊 cool little place to check out!
Theres a lot that is Hard and Unhappy in the world right now, but KO Distilling is a spectacular oasis from that. Not only do they know their craft inside and out, they are brilliant at it, and they are wonderful, real people to boot. Wed bought their gins and whiskey before (their Navy Strength Gin is one of our favorite gins--and now their Single Barrel Rye is my favorite rye!) but wed never been to the distillery, and Im so glad we did--we had a truly great time. We were lucky enough to have a personal tour of the distillery with Greg Rixon, the resident Executive Bourbon Steward, who is incredibly knowledgeable about their processes and the science and history and world of whiskey and spirits in general, and gave us a wonderfully fun, and informative tour. The tasting room (and fabulous outdoor seating area!) were inviting (and safe!) and was a place I felt comfortable and welcome, and want to come back to again and again. Even though wed had some of them before, we did a tasting of their 3 gins (to try the Barrel Finished Gin- yum!) and the wheat, rye and bourbon whiskey (which are all unique and fabulous), brought to us by Greg who took a lot of his time to talk with us and continue to make us feel incredibly welcome and cared about. He told us all sorts marvelous stories and shared his adventures in cocktail creation--and when it was time to pick which drink we wanted, my husband asked him to make us his own specially designed cocktail (which was Straight-Up Amazing!) and I asked him to make me his favorite whiskey cocktail--which turned out to be The Most Delicious Sazerac I Have Ever Had. Not only does KO make some of The Best (and in my opinion, THE Best Rye and Navy Strength Gin) spirits anywhere (let alone just in Virginia!), their cocktails are high-end, unique, and delicious creations--but at real-people prices, served by amazing and real people, in a warm, inviting place. AND among the bottles we bought to take home was their newest release, their Distillers Reserve Bourbon. We just opened it last night, and were blown away by how absolutely incredible it is--soft, warm vanilla and caramel and brown sugar, baking spices--Im no professional taster, but I can tell you it is more than worth what they are asking for it, and if youre a bourbon lover, you need to get a bottle of this before its gone. Its also now taken its place as my new favorite bourbon! (Clearly) I cannot say enough good things about KO--if you havent taken the time to go visit them, you really, really should. Thank you to everyone there for all your hard work that goes into all the deliciousness you create and the awesomeness that is your space, and an extra thank you so much to Greg for making our visit there such a great time. We will absolutely be back!!
I love this place! They are veteran owned and the atmosphere is very laid back and cozy. They are also being great about COVID procedures
Attended the Kentucky Derby event today! Great turn out, the place was filled even with the rain. The staff was so friendly and wore nametags that made it feel like we knew them. The cocktails were tasty and great examples of what KO can do with their product! We definitely wanted to make our own at home afterwards. Popcorn Monkey snacks paired well while watching the race. We can’t wait to go back very soon when we have more time to tour and ask questions during a full flight while it’s less crowded.
Highly informative very personalized.. well worth the time spent with Greg. Definately worth repeat visits..
Amazing place and awesome whiskeys. Purchased some bottles to take home. Distillery tour was awesome.
Support local... Bourbon Whiskey! Having visited much of the Bourbon Trail stops in Kentucky, we were just expecting a small distillery operation with a local brewery/distillery feel and that it exactly what we got!On their website, it seems that they only offer two flights of the same spirits, one being cocktails. However, we were excited that they also offer one of just their single barrel whiskey offerings. This flight includes single barrel (3) tastings of their wheat, bourbon (corn), and rye whiskeys as well as (3) tastings of their cask strength single barrel varieties. The cocktail tasting is perfect for us to bring our wives next time who did not enjoy their bourbon tastings during our Bourbon Trail... dont worry, we did not let it go to waste :)[Short whiskey background]Small batch whiskeys are a blend of 2-4 barrels to produce a master distillers intended profile. A single barrel whiskey is generally from the lower section (slow aging) of a rickhouse and provide a more distinct/flavorful profile. Both small batches and single barrels are slightly diluted with water, however cask strength whiskeys are not. Whether cask strength (small batch or single barrel), these whiskeys pack a spicier punch at around 115+ proof, while having a wider flavor profile. Each of the whiskeys were great, but our favorites were their Single Barrel Rye, Single Barrel Bourbon, and the Single Barrel Cask Strength Rye.Their staff were very friendly and everyone was decked out in Christmas cheer (early December)... so tell your wife you have a Christmas event planned (including sipping the devils nectar) and stop here!KO Distillery is known for their Bare Knuckle whiskeys. We have had the opportunity to try their wheat whiskey at Jack Rose (largest whiskey selection in Western Hemisphere) and each of their small batch whiskeys at the annual “Beer, Bourbon, BBQ” festival in Leesburg, VA. KO has their bottles avaliable for sale in their distillery store with a much larger selection than Virginia ABC stores. Also, their single barrel bottles were autographed by the staff behind their bourbon, very cool!We did not attend one of their tours (2-3 occured while we sat at the bar), but we plan to be back to support this local distillery!
I love the various 🍸made with the various products, whether it is gin or their various whiskeys
KO is a wonderful and perhaps undiscovered Gem right in many of our backyards! Very friendly (I know, in NoVA?) and knowledgeable staff could not be more helpful and welcoming - they make both a super-tasty Bourbon and an even more fun Navy Gin (114 proof so kinda sip it) - will be back in Oct to pick up some of the Bourbon (too warm to drink it now). Bottom Line: You owe yourself a visit to these great folks.
Loved the TLC !! They even made us some of the mixer to purchase and take home !!
Awesome distillery, and wonderful staff. Once you visit youll understand 🥃!
Barrel finished gin was unique & greatly enjoyed! Staff was friendly, knowledgeable & helpful! 100% rye whiskey was also a unique taste.
I am a truck driver and I had the pleasure of delivering to KO Distilling. I was treated very good by the CO-FOUNDER & CEO BILL KARLSON. Thanks for treating me well during my delivery and also to the guys who unloaded me. I will definitely be coming back to try out yalls product on my next time off.
Best Gin and Bourbon 8n Virginia! Scratch that best anywhere
Fun place to try a variety of sprits and cocktails.
$21 for the 3 best cocktails I’ve ever had! Loved this place!!
Such nice people! Great drinks! They really take pride in what they do. Excited to come back. Said we can bring food with us too!
This place is amazing. Most definitely do a tour and a tasting if youre in the area. My bf did the spirit tasting and I had a cocktail. Greg was beyond amazing and so knowledge and kind. We spent almost 2 hours there when we anticipated spending 30 mins. Loved it.
Great spirits in the glass and in the people! Some if the best prices for a cocktail around and some of the most delicious. They always have something interesting to try, with a great atmosphere. Also do yourself a favor, get a glass of their cask strength bourbon neat. You wont regret it.
Great cocktail tasting with fun miniature flights. My fiancee went with the straight neat tasting, while I chose the more adventurous mini cocktail flight. Instead of having the difficulty of choosing only a couple of cocktails from a long list, I really like how KO offers a tasting of its gin, moonshine, bourbon, rye, and straight whiskey with accompanying juices (i love the homemade blackberry juice!). Its nice to not have to wrestle on which drink to get - you get to try them all!Its nice to get a taste of the spirit neat and then try it with a juice for a balanced flavor. Although I enjoyed the spirits, the homemade juices really stood out to me and complemented the spirits. My favorites were the pear chai lemonade with barrel finished gin, homemade blackberry juice with gin, honey ginger ale with rye whiskey, and pear shrub apple cider with bourbon whiskey. The tartness and sweetness of the juices provided great flavor to the spirits. I wasnt a big fan of the Arnold Palmer and regular lemonade, they were a bit too sweet for me.In addition to the variety of juices in the tasting, I really enjoyed how the tasting was done at my own pace. The bartender kindly brought over 2 drinks at a time to the sofa and explained each one without rushing us through. As my fiancee polished off a bottle of the Bare Knuckle bourbon, will be back to get another bottle and try out more craft cocktails!
Came here for a tasting and tour. Peter gave a great tour and tasting intro and was super knowledgeable and funny. The gin was good (coming from someone who doesnt like gin) and the whiskey and bourbon was fantastic. The staff ended up hanging out with us and chatting and joking around and it really made the day better since we were the only group there. The tasting room is comfortable and well designed and the staff makes great cocktails.
Outstanding afternoon to hang out with friends and learn about some great drinks. Larry was not only very knowledgeable about all the products but did a great job inserting personal stories and interacting with us to break it up. Highly recommend a visit for something just a little different than your standard brewery or vineyard tour. We Will be back.
Nice tasting room. Nice staff. All the whiskeys I tried were kinda gross. To my palate, they somehow taste like cheap/bad scotch.......not good American whiskey/bourbon. But the gins were actually really good.
Appreciate their story and use of local ingredients. I’m from DC and need very little in excuses to visit KO for a tour on a free afternoon, maybe after a walk through Bull Run for a quick history lesson. The American rye adds an essential folklore to my personal bar. Almost like I poured it from the neighbor’s barrel myself.
Went in with the hubs today, and we are so glad we did. Had a great time, and our tour guide/spirit educator Steven was funny and personable. We had an educational fun tour, I had the cocktail tasting and my husband had the regular tasting. Everything was yummy, especially the Navy Strength Gin and Bare Knuckle Bourbon. One of the first 19 distilleries in Virginia, and they produce delicious products. Go out and give it a try, then thank me later. Cheers! 🥃
Best bourbon, always was a single malt Peary person but KO won my heart over for some of the year.
Great whiskey and customer service wonderful
Awsome! They re-tooled to make badly needed hand sanitizer. Theyre the best!!!
Visited with friends for a tour and tasting. We all did the classic tasting so I cant speak to the cocktails, but everything was great so Im sure all would be enjoyable. Staff were friendly, welcoming and fun -- this is a great afternoon with friends, and definitely worth the trip.
Came here this past weekend and had an amazing experience! Teddy gave us our classic tasting and our tour. He was knowledgeable and extremely hospitable. Well definitely be back!
This place has the best tasting gin and whiskey hands down!I wish I could give this place 6 stars because the staffs integrity and the staff making customers feel like home;E.g. 1) Larry mentioned the about Groupon before we toured.2) The cash register mentioned their Black Friday sale when we bought a bottle.3) At our sampling, Larry was patient with us explaining while we tasted slowly.4) Larry is knowledgable because hes a chemist.
Peter was wonderful and so knowledgeable about the distillery and their process. They accommodated our large group (20 people) and everyone enjoyed the tour and tasting. The cocktail tasting had some of the best flavors ever, like pear chai. Yum! We will absolutely be back!
I took a fantastic and educational tour at this whiskey distilling facility and was quite impressed. The tour guide did a phenomenal job, made us very comfortable, answered all questions and even joked with us. Awesome, I will not hesitate to recommand this distillery.
Love this place... Period
Wonderful new distillery in Manassas. Staff is fantastic, facility is very modern, special event room and tasting area are beautifully designed, and their white spirits are on point! Cant wait to try their bourbon!
Great place to learn about and sample whiskey! What more do you want?
Had a great time starting out the new year with friends at KO!!! The Battle standard was the most popular with our krewe.
Great spirits and cocktails!
Did the Classic tasting today. Staff was friendly, knowledgeable. and made it a fantastic experience!
My buddy and I found this place from an article about distilleries around the DC Metro area, and this was our second distillery tour that day after we went to the George Washingtons Distillery and Gristmill in Mt. Vernon. He got the 1/2 shot samples while I opted for the cocktail tastings. While they only have 3 different alcohols to sample for now, I could not have been more impressed. Ive never enjoyed gin before, but they just may have made a gin drinker out of me. At the time, they offer an original whiskey, regular proof gin, and a Navy proof gin. They did mention to us they are almost finished with an aged whiskey theyve been working on. Their prices per bottle are extremely reasonable, about $30 for a bottle (especially considering Mt. Vernon wanted to charge $98 for a small bottle of whiskey). If your looking for a distillery tour and sampling and youre in the area, KO Distilling is definitely worth checking out.
Excellent local distillery, great whiskey and gin, samplings, comfortable seating and friendly staff makes this a great place.
Your drinking quality spirits...
After learning about how they make their gin and trying a couple cocktails KO turned me into a gin drinker. The navy strength gin has wonderful aromatics and a bright taste.
Great atmosphere, great staff and most importantly great Gin!
This place convinced me to enjoy gin.
Great tasting, distillery tour, and awesome service!
Amazing drinks from an amazing team!
Great place
I like this place, but I wish there were more varieties but sure that will come in time.
Great tasting cocktails
Enjoyed my visit to KO!
