I cant recommend this bike store enough! I was having some trouble with getting a bike tube installed on one of my bikes. I called the store up expecting the price to be high to get an inner tube installed. The my surprise the price was amazing! I quickly went up there to have them install the innertube. They recommended a better size and the bike tire was operational within 20 minutes. I cant wait to go back as the staff was incredibly kind and knowledgeable. Thanks so much for your help!

Ive been shopping at The Pathfinder since the late 1980s when the store was located in Aggieville. I cant even begin to figure out how many hours Ive spent in the Poyntz Avenue store. Back when I was a teen, I worked across the street and would wander over to the Pathfinder after I was off and talk with the staff for way longer than I should have! While Ive seen many things change at The Pathfinder over the years, most notably the owners, Im very happy that the store is still happily occupying the same four story building which has called its home for nearly thirty years. Staff members have come and gone, but they still continue to be welcoming, friendly, and helpful.

We have been in here 4 or 5 times since we moved here in Dec 2020. Every time, the team here has greeted us with a smile and warm welcome. Whether are are just browsing or making a purchase they show the same respect and friendliness. They are dog friendly and allowed me to bring our 7mo old Boxer to work on a lack of socialization. They even helped me out and took turns feeding her treats and waiting for her to calm down meeting new people. They have done service on my bike, and we have been pleased with that as well. Yes, some of the products are expensive but, that is because they carry brands like Patagonia and other big expensive, high quality brands. For the brands they carry, the seem similarly priced to what I have seen other places. The only thing I would note that could use improvement is maybe getting rid of an old website that doesn’t have accurate pricing for bicycle work. Other than that, we will definitely be returning customers!

These guys did a great job fixing up my bike, finding a price quote for potentially getting a new mountain bike, and they are very knowledgeable about local and KS trails, routes.

I’ve visited several times for climbing equipment, bicycle equipment/services, and clothing. Each time I’ve come, whatever employee has been there has been very helpful. Great store, great selection at great prices, great employees, and great atmosphere.

Best camping and hiking shop in the area. They are knowledge, friendly and helpful. Not only do they have competitive prices they sell high quality gear. They also have section for bike of all kinds and have a tram of specialist that can maintenance your bike for you as well. Please support local business they are great.

The staff is Kind and attentive to the needs of their customers. ☺ Ive come in a couple times to paruse the store and everything have within a couple minutes been approached. :) Its a great place for getting your bike repaired for a a good price!

The staff was super friendly and very helpful! The bike shop techs fixed a flat on a friends electric scooter which was a very complicated tube change. They only charged me for a regular tube change as if it were a bike. Such great service! I dont live in Manhattan but I do visit a couple times a year. You can bet this will be my go-to bike shop when I visit! Thanks Pathfinder! Great job!

Their large Plexiglass at the register is extremely dehumanizing. Were not at a peep show booth. Take the plexiglass down, the lunatic city commission didnt mandate plexiglass. Stop ruining normalcy and doing what billionaires want. I hope your business fails and hope Amazon runs train on you.

Went in to the shop to get some information on sleeping pads for an upcoming hiking/camping trip. Jeremy not only took the time to show and demonstrate for me but also helped me to determine the best one to get for my trip and my current needs. He offered to fit my pack and gave me a lot of great tips and lessons on my pack.

I went to Pathfinder to purchase a bottle holder for my bike because of an upcoming trail ride. They were out of what I needed. The guy who was helping me wondered if I would be ok with a used one. Of course I would so he took the one from his personal bike and charged me an minimal amount. How amazing was that? Thank you Pathfinder for your customer service. Great place to shop for all your outdoor adventures. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Bought a new backpack for my upcoming trip, they took my measurements. Then let me try three different backpacks, adding weight and making adjustments for the correct fit. Settled on the Osprey Hikelite 26. Also, purchased Specialized bike in the past and they took the time to make sure my wife had the perfect bike for our needs.

Let me tell you about a nice little outdoor outfitter, right in the heart of Manhattan. These people rock! They listen, and offer excellent advise for all your outdoor needs. I feel the need to write this, because of Celia, and the floor manager. I recently purchased a Kuhl down jacket. The inside chest pocket seam thread came undone. They were not only willing to go through the warranty process for me, they even offered to fix the pocket, and no cost, in store! I was just shocked to the level of customer service this store provides. If you’re shopping ANYWHERE else for outdoor apparel or gear, you’re missing out on a great experience at The Pathfinder.

I bought a used bike from the Pro’s Closet and Ben helped get it up and running with a fast turnaround. He dedicated a lot of time to diagnosing and went above and beyond my expectations to help solve an issue that he knew I’d likely have to order through another retailer. The Pro’s Closet extended their thanks, as they rely on local bike shops to operate remotely, and I am very thankful that I can get out riding!

I brought my bike to pathfinder after thinking I could tune my own bike after watching a YouTube video. I totally broke it, like real bad. Im talking like snapping heads off of screws and mauling cables because of the eminence power I have in my grip. I begrudgingly brought my bike in, thinking I was going to be looked down upon like a person that thinks van hagar is just as good as van halen, or weezers green album was better than the blue. But man was I wrong. The dude that called me about my bike and discribed every i did wrong to my bike, and did not make me feel like a chump at all. Unfortunately with resurgence of biking with covid I had to wait a couple of week, but hey, I screwed it up in the first place. So I was completely understanding and the dude seemed very appreciative of that. When I went to pick it up, I had a few questions about bikes. Im assuming the big dog of the store walk around a showed me a few bikes and answered questions and went above and beyond my questions. I walked out of the store learning alot about bikes. Ill definitely keeping bring my bike here and because of the great service and personality of the employees. Ill probably end up getting a new gravel sometime from them.

My favorite Manhattan store. Started by a couple of locals, The Pathfinder (Alpine Shop) services Manhattans bicycle and camping needs. Store sells a great selection of mountain and road cycles and is able to take care of all repair needs for a variety of wheeled (not motored) vehicles. Camping side holds the latest gear that is sure to keep you happy and motivated while out in the wilderness. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and the management is way above par!

We just recently moved to Manhattan from Germany, unfortunately the movers trashed my kids bike when they took them apart for shipping. We took these two bikes into the shop and these guys were amazingly awesome! They helped re-thread the stripped pedals and did a complete maintenance on the bikes for us and only charged us for purchasing the inter-tube needed for one of the flat tires. They made my kids day! Super knowledgeable and great customer service. My husband is now considering going to buy bikes for the both of us and we know where well be shopping from now on!

The employees at pathfinder are great! They went above and beyond my expectations. I had to get my tubes replaced on my bike, and when I went to pick it up Ed realized I also needed a new tire. All of the employees were polite and very helpful. Special shout out to Ed, you made my day man!!

We use Pathfinder for our Scouting needs. We can normally find what we need and if we need help.the staff has always been ready to show us what they offer. Prices are about the same as other locations for the product without having to drive so far. We also appreciate the military discount day!

I need to post this. The guys at Pathfinder, downtown Manhattan, KS, are amazing. We just upgraded Aziah to a new bike (she bought the first one there a couple years ago) and as usual, it was an absolute pleasure to do business with them.Dave, who I think is the owner, spent about 25 minutes assembling the Thule bike racks we bought and even installed them on my van, like it was a normal thing. There is simply no way that ordering from Amazon can ever compete with that kind of customer service.Something like this happens every time we shop there. Last time, when we took a bike in for some repair work, there as a little communication breakdown when I got the estimate, without hesitation Dave gave me the repair job for the price of parts only.When Aziah bought some hiking boots there, they gave her a whole class in boots and proper fit. Its like the Apple store for outdoor gear, but better.If you havent been in there, check it out. Its fun just to browse all the cool gear they have.

Very knowlegable and helpful. Talked me step by step through replacing the bearings on my bycicle and my options without being pushy or demanding to do it themselves. Outdoor equipment is very slightly more expensive than you might find online, but well worth being able to touch and wear before you buy

No nonsense bike shop, if you ask a question they answer it with professional knowledge. You are not pressured into buying anything, but if you are looking for a new bike or just a repair or tuneup, this is the place to go !!!

Bought two high end mountain bike there. First time staff adjusted the bike not according any real specs, just guessed. Called about replacing top cap on air fork, they were unable to locate replacement. I bought from Amazon, why buy local if staff is unfamiliar with mountain bike. Took a risk with second bike. Staff had no clue how to adjust air shocks or derailleur. Very shameful. I did all my own adjustments at home. I now travel to Lincoln NE for specialized parts or service

There are two bike shops in Manhattan as most people know. After thorough researching and test drives of a variety of bike styles and prices I decided to purchase at pathfinder because of their patience with me and knowledgeable advice to help me make my decision. I orginially was set on a Trek 7.2FX or Giant Escape series but after trying out a Specialized Sirrus another caught my eye. I didnt think I would like another suspension bike but after a few test runs I know the Dual Sport model was for me. It just felt right. Ive had the bike over a month now and I love it. The pathfinder handles a year of adjustments but they recently replaced my bottom bracket after a noticed some knocking in the peddling action. Repair was rather quick and Ben at the shop was very helpful. I dont think I could take my business anywhere else. Top notch staff
