These guys are the best! Our daughter’s bike fell off of our bike rack (thankfully no one was hurt!) on the way home from the beach on Saturday. It was mangled but salvageable and we knew buying a replacement wasn’t an option. We brought it in this past Saturday evening and it’s good as new on Monday...Their customer service (and attention to detail) is 💯!!FYI, I also purchased myself a used Specialized bike at a reasonable price.So happy to have Maplewood Bike Shed on the Avenue!!

As a new bike rider, I’m still getting my feet wet when it comes to assembly and accessories. So I did A quick search to see my options in the area, and all I can say is what a great local business! The employees there were courteous, knowledgeable, and very friendly.I went in to get my new bike assembled, and was treated like I’ve been a customer there for years. They explained to me some features and issues the bike came with clarity (I had it shipped cross country, so some minor scratches and bumps) and they did an amazing job putting it back together.Very happy and impressed with this business.

Great experience today with Dan and company at the Bike Shed. They are extremely busy but were able to make time for a quick change of my sons bike pads. I paid when I dropped off the bike (very reasonable) and they called when it became clear that the rear wheel needed to be trued, as well. They turned around the fix the same afternoon and the bike is good as new. Ill be giving them more business.

This is a great bike store. I am so glad that they opened up in Maplewood. The people who work there are wonderful, very accommodating, skillful and informative. They have been very busy lately, but they still went above and beyond by working immediately on my sons bike. That was wonderful because my son is soon going away to graduate school and he needed to have a working bike before he left. The shop fixed my gears and did a whole tune-up on the bike and it works great now. I am very happy with their work and I would recommend this store to anyone who needs help with their bike. They also cleaned my entire bike and it shined. It was really dirty before they cleaned it. They also sell bikes and equipment there. They are a great bunch of guys and I am so glad theyre in my neighborhood.

You wont find any bike culture snobbery here; just friendly and super helpful people who clearly love bikes! Reasonable prices and they have a all the essentials. If you dont see what you need, they will order it for you. I got great cork handles on special order. Excellent shop and I recommend it to all my friends in the area.

They fixed up an awesome used bike for my daughter, and made it just perfect for her. Its her first gear bike and she feels like a million bucks riding it around town. It is fantastic to have this new bike shop in the area. There has been loss of bike stores in recent years, great to have somebody nearby. They did an excellent job tuning up 2 of our bikes and fixing a bent wheel. Friendly service, feels like a real neighborhood place not a chain store. Will definitely be going back!

This place rocks. Took my old bike for a tune up and they handed me a new bike back. Went for a follow up service and they immediately took care of me. They are home grown, minority owned, high quality and honest. No better place in town. And they are very reasonable on the price scale. It was a blessing to find them and theyll be a blessing to anyone who goes there. Id highly recommend them and I strongly encourage you to try them out.

I kept getting a flat on my bike despite having the tube changed frequently. I called up Maplewood Bike Shed about it and they invited me over and sat down with me and showed me step by step how to fix my own flat and equipped me with everything I need for the road in case of another flat. Everyone was chill and supportive for a newbie like me. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience at a bike shop. I recommend this place to any cyclists in the area who need help or have any questions. Sometimes you are met with an elitist mindset from older bike shop owners or cyclists but not here! I just recently visited Maplewood Bike shed to purchase a bike. I have been meaning to buy a bike for sometime now. When I arrived, I was immediately assisted with finding a bike that would best fit my needs. I have purchased a pre-owned bike and thus far am very happy with the recommendation made by the store staff. Everyone was very friendly and knowledgeable. I will certainly return to this shop for any future maintenance needs for the bike and/or to purchase any additional bike related accessories.

Horrible experience I purchased bike I called the next day to return the lady lied to me about her being the owner when I told her she is the owner she told me to come in Wednesday to return the bike I checked the website it says closed on Wednesday I was busy at work so I just called today which is Saturday now she telling me no returns at all I tell her I’m getting a lawyer she laughed at me cause I had to use different cards to pay the full amount I have all my reiceits no ware does it say none refundable I’m gonna call all my cards and fight it after calling back she offered to give me half of the money for the bike the guy that works there mechanic knows nothing about bikes they sold me a mountain bike cross country when I asked for a trail bike horrible I was even willing to take a 370 dollar lose and they would not do it they do not work with the customer at all

First time at this bike shop and first impression was good. They were sensitive to my need ( need bike fixed asap so I can exercise my bad knee) One of the employees big Dave took my bike out of truck( parked a block away) and brought into shop and baby Dave took my information quickly. I left and returned two hours later when I realized I forgot to give them the wheel nuts. I gave wheel nuts to the owner and sat outside on bench and waited for repair. Another employee engaged in conversation with me as he repaired a customer s bike. The owner broke out my bike fixed and loaded into my truck . The owner and all the employees wished me recovery on my knee. It was refreshing to meet a nice bunch of young professional men. In me they have a customer.

Great service. During these crazy time most shops are backed up. I had my bike back under 24 hours! With a minor upgrade. Bike is better than when I first got it! Would highly recommended their services!

Had a flat rear tire on my wifes Giant 24 spd bike. Unbeknownst to me, her bike had locks on her wheels. Luckily, the owner Danny had the right tools to get the tire off and fixed the flat. Danny and his staff were super helpful and did an outstanding job. Going forward, this will be my go to bike shop.

Awesome staff, awesome service! Was recommended to this shop by a friend and they exceeded expectations. Everyone was super friendly and went out of their way to help me with a minor adjustment quickly and for an extremely fair price, even though they were super busy. They didn’t try to upsell me for repairs I didn’t need, but instead were honest and even showed me how to make small repairs myself! I can’t say enough good things about these guys, they genuinely enjoy what they do and actively welcome others to their hobby and community. They easily could have taken my bike for a week or two and done other work and kept me away from riding it, but they got me back on it the next day. They have made a loyal customer out of me instantly for future repairs and customization! You won’t be disappointed!

So happy this place opened! They have serviced my road bike and most recently I took my sons bike in and it was beat up (handle bars tires) and they had it in and out in a couple of hours which is great as my son rides his bike every day as an outlet from quarantine. They also are repairing a pretty beat up mountain bike so I can have on vacation. Thank you for great service

I contacted Maplewood Bike Shed via email and Saint responded to all my questions quickly. I was able to drop my bike off for a repair and Saint had it fixed within an hour. Thanks for the quick service. I will certainly use them again for any future service.

I was originally looking for a bike shop that wasn’t backed up due to COVID. I called this bike shop and they weren’t as back up as the others. When i dropped off my bike, they were super kind, not just one person but all of them. I told them that I wasn’t here during the weekend and would be okay with leaving it, but they insisted on trying to get my bike to me on the same day. This wasn’t the only nice thing they did, but they also called me with the problem with my bike. They told me that they would need a specific part, and if I had it, the price would be much better. Luckily I had the part and was able to get a great discount. At the end of the day, they are there to help you fix your bike, not to charge you to do some tune ups that you didn’t even need. Normally I don’t get or do things based off reviews but, this is just an all around great bike shop for any kind of bike, and I mean ANY BIKE. Over all this place is the best and I strongly recommend it.

I really can’t say enough about these guys! Friendly, courteous, knowledgeable service and great bikes! We have now purchased two bikes from them, a brand new CIVIA and a barely used TREK These guys go out of their way to make sure you understand your bike to the best of your ability before leaving the store, everything is in great working order, and they’re awesome about helping you out if you need to come back and have anything tweaked!

Excellent and speedy service on my ElliptiGO. I know working on these ellliptcal bicycles can be a challenge, but they had no problem dealing with the gears and changing out my shredded back tire. Appreciate the recommendation to change out he front tire as well for safety, and they gave the bike an adjustment and cleanup. Rides great. Highly recommended.

This bike shop is AMAZING! In COVID times when getting bikes/bike services/bike parts is akin to getting a reservation at a Michelin star restaurant that was just featured on Chef’s Table these guys could not have been kinder, faster or more accommodating! We had ordered the wrong baby seat for our bike, and were leaving on a much anticipated trip the next day. I called them at 10, dropped my bike at noon and picked it back up at 1 with a new seat perfectly installed. Definitely worth the drive from Montclair! Thank you!!!

Seriously one of the greatest services Ive received towards bike maintenance in a while. I live in Manhattan but was traveling back to my hometown for a bike ride with my dad and the local shop went out of business. I went to about 3 different shops in the neighboring towns to ours and found Maplewood Bike Shed, (3rd ones a charm). I had ridden over a piece of plastic which punctured my tube. I went over to MBS and they found the right tube and changed out the older one within seconds. Quality customer service especially in remembering your face when you return a 2nd or 3rd time. I would recommend MBS for everyone in Essex and Union County of New Jersey.

I wish I had more bikes for them to work on so I could go there and talk bikes more. We have a number of old bikes and the first thing I notice is that they LOVE old bikes. They didnt start by trying to talk me into buying a new one. They fixed my 1984 Schwinn Continental and my wifes 1969 Ross Eurotour and they are both running like new now. Danny found out that the wheels for the Eurotour were an unusual size, really hard to get. So he bought ALL the inner tubes in that size he could find for his shop to hold onto so wed never get stuck. BTW, how do I know the Eurotour is a 69? Danny took one look at it and said, See how the Ross logo is hand painted on there? By the early 70s they were using stickers for that. This young man knows his bikes!

I took two adult 18 Speed bikes there on Saturday and Schneyder came out to greet myself, my wife and daughter to assess the condition of the bikes. They both needed the brakes tightened and one needed new brake pads. He called over Saint, the bike mechanic to estimate how soon the work could be done. Due to the volume of customers ahead of us, he said the earliest would be Monday. Nevertheless, two hours later, I received a call that the bikes were ready to be picked up, Friendly atmosphere, brakes are working just fine and I we received them back much sooner than expected. I recommend Maplewood Bike Shed. Thanks to both Schneyder, Saint, Boly who worked on the bikes and Danny the owner. Thanks guys.
